They are only interested in a split of the country!

Take the sugar away and the ants would disappear but the honey has been used to replace the sugar while you could have saved the honey to drink tea. You have lost both the sugar and honey.

I have you had a good think about it ?

1. NNPC still buying from this people

2. Prices are deregulated thus they can tell NNPC 500 Naira per liter and NNPC would have no choice but to buy

3. Since the deregulation of diesel has the sector improved ?

4. During the removal of subsidy in agriculture, did the FG not build a chemical plant in port harcourt. Why cannot the FG build a refinary in Nigeria before the removal.

SMDH

5. Why is the FG telling us 1.3 trilion when it is actually 900 billion according to there words but the actual price during yaradua is 400 billion

do you care to explain that ?

Politics / Civil Society Calls For Iweala's Dismissal: Says Fg Lied About 1,600 Buses by aljharem3: 4:31pm On Jan 05, 2012
Civil society organizations have called for the immediate dismissal of the Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, for promoting economic reforms that can bring death to Nigerians.

They described the subsidy as the greatest fraud in the history of the country, were monumental amounts are criminally paid to government cronies who return the money to their political god fathers, and has nothing to do with the current increase in fuel prices.

The civil society groups at a press briefing in Abuja today pointed to the pledge the Nigerian government made to Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) that 445000 barrels of crude oil will be refined daily for local consumption as evidence that there is no subsidy on fuel in Nigeria.

They also commended protesters in Kano, Lagos, Lokoja and Illorin for their courage in taking on the government, demanding an immediate revert of fuel prices to N65 naira per liter.

They further noted that protesters exercising their constitutional right to oppose government policy have so far been conducting themselves peacefully, only for government to mete out violence on them with the use of security agents who beat, tear gas and have even allegedly killing one protester in Ilorin.

Dr Jibrin Ibrahim of the Center for Democratic Research (CDR) who led in the presentation of a 'Citizen Charter of Demands' put together by the civil society groups who have pledged their support and willingness to collaborate with Nigerians in continuation of protests until government reverses its decision.

Dr Ibrahim described the claim by the federal government after its executive council meeting Wednesday, that it is expecting about 1,000 diesel powered buses to reduce the burden on Nigerians in the transportation sector as a blatant lie.

He explained that, the Trade Union of Nigeria (TUC) had obtained a loan from the World Bank for some buses and is expecting delivery soon, and if the government is saying these are the buses they want to deliver to Nigerians, then it is dishonest.

He also questioned the legitimacy of fuel subsidy removal without the permission of the National Assembly, “it is clear the president is in contempt of the National Assembly and has acted outside the purview of his powers. The removal of the so-called subsidy requires legislation by the National Assembly. The establishment of a mechanism to manage the ‘huge gains’ from the ‘removal of subsidy’ also requires legislation.

On the part of Labour, the acting secretary general of the Nigerian Labour Union (NLC) Owei Lakemfa who was also present declared that the NLC is not going to negotiate with government on the issue of fuel subsidy removal again.

He said Labour and civil society were totally behind the action of many Nigerians who are presently protesting in some states and would join the protest on Monday 9th January, and would not back down until government changes its mind.

The civil society groups represented include; the United Action for Democracy, Advocates for Change and Social Justice, Action Aid Nigeria and Center for Democracy and Development, among others.

Just after a 2009 article of Dr. Reuben Abati, former chairman of the Guardian Editorial Board and spokersperson to President Goodluck Jonathan, criticising the removal of fuel subsidy has gone viral on the internet, rumours have begun to circulate widely that Dr. Abati has resigned his appointment.

YNaija reached out to Dr. Abati this afternoon and he has confirmed the rumours are untrue. “It is a lie that I have resigned. It is blackmail. I am in the office,” he told our correspondent.

He however demurred on other questions. “My apologies. I am in a meeting and will call you back,” he said.

The mass protests over fuel subsidy removal over the past week have given rise to a series of mis-information, including the erroneous news yesterday that the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala had threatened to resign. YNaija exclusively broke the news that it was false.

the problem is accountability.

BENIN CITY-ECONOMIC activities were grounded in Benin City, Edo State capital Thursday, when market women, youths, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Civil society organizations under the umbrella of the Coalition to Save Nigeria, in their thousands, stormed the streets of the ancient city, protesting the Federal Government’s removal of fuel subsidy.

The peaceful protest which started at about 6:30am, commenced at Ring Road, the heart of the city, forcing banks and other business organizations to be under lock and key till 12pm. The protesters called for the immediate resignation of the Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, accusing her of coming to implement the agenda of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

The protest was led by the Chairman of the State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr Philip Ugbodaga, President of the Environmental Rights Action (ERA), Nimo Bassey, President of the Conference of NGOs in the state, Comrade Austin Osakwe, Executive Director of the African Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ), Rev. David Ugolor, Sabina Osehobo, Igbotako Nowinta and Dr (Mrs) Victoria Amun.

The protesters carried a coffin and placards reading “Jonathan you are a disappointment, resign now”, “Edo people say no to fuel”, “Jonathan, we are disappointed with you”, “Resign if you are incapable”. A combined unit of mobile policemen and soldiers were following the protesters to ensure that the peaceful protest was not hijacked by hoodlums.

Dr Ugbodaga who addressed the crowd, lamented that Nigerians have suffered for too long and argued that rather than removing subsidy, the Federal Government should cut the cost of governance and fix the economy for the better.

In a letter addressed to President Goodluck Jonathan, which the Coalition handed over to Governor Adams Oshiomhole at Government House yesterday, it stated that “in the interest of peace, unity and progress in Nigeria, we recommend the immediate reverse of the price of fuel to N65.00k in the first instance and thereafter to N39.50k, which is the ideal price of a liter of petrol.

Breaking News: Jonathan's Media Adviser - Dr Reuben Abati has tendered his resignation - Presidency

It's false

What defies Intelligence and knowledge of history is that you want the very Nigerian government who has bad history in the past to invest in refineries. This is a private sector business with government owning a stake in it maintain equilibrum and effect pricing so the citizens wont be shortchanged. As far as subsidy stays and price fixed at 65 naira. It will be foolhardy to put billions without any hope of Returns on Investment.

I am sorry but I don't think you understand anything about the subsidy, government and the protest because if you do you would know that you are not smarter than 130 million Nigerians. Dude Nigerians are not stu.pid enough to think they want Subsidy to stay

WE DON'T WANT SUBSIDY AS WELL AS THE GOVERNMENT.

Now why we are protesting is because there are no refineries no infrastructures etc

thus

1. NNPC would still be paying subsidy

2. The private companies can now regulate their prices to gain profits

3 Our economy has be exposed to global market and how prices fluctuate

4. The government can not account for 400 billion naira of subsidy after calculation

5. We don't know where the money recovered from the fake subsidy would go to

These are the reasons, Now I am feedup explaining to you goons over and over again. Sicne you have decided not to learn please and please stop asking the same questions again until you are well informed. Thanks
