i will keep saying it , the only reason the south east will loose in 2015 is if the south west decide to vote a northerner which of course is not going to happen. them bringing out a candidate whether fashola will be political suicide for the whole south cause the SE will never back down giving the fact the SW have produced a president before with the SE support (whether rigged or not all na support).
would u not prefer development and a good candidate than all this SE must produce the president

just saying

alj harem what do you mean zik did not fight for independence while awolowo did?? so did awolowo go with guns and knives to fight for the indepedence? you cannot rewrite history , when you talk of nigeria independence Zik is the first person to be mentioned . i dont know much about first universities and banks maybe i will do a proper research on that. Zik was the greatest among his peers then , he was the last governor general of nigeria and the only nigerian governor general plus the first president of nigeria . while Awo was was popular in the western region and amahdu bello in the north ,Zik was popular across africa . Zik Also united nigeria he is the reason we were even one nigeria in the first place(this i hate to admit)
thank you so much bashr for ur responds

Zik fought for our independence and that is why we Nigerians love him but I am saying awolowo and ehanero did the same.

I am not trying to rewrite history here. certainly not. All i am just doing is to have a clear answer in my head.

Since Zik united nigeria then, it means we should call him Zik of africa undecided

ok thank you, I think I should drop this argument

thanks once again
Can someone Puuuuhhhhhlleeeeaaazzzzze answer Alh. Harem's very simple question:

IF ZIK WAS SO GREAT TELL US ONE SINGLE ACHIEVEMENT HE MADE FOR NIGERIA, LET ALONE AFRICA!!!!!
thank you

they said the first univerisity and i said they are wrong, they first insulted me before they then changed it to "indigenous" university

they spoke of independence and thanks to henry's post, it showed that he was BEGGING for the independence and did NOT fight for it. moreover awolowo and enahaniro fought for the same and i don't see people shouting his name out

they spoke of africa bank but he NEVER STARTED the bank, he only bought shares in it. which he was even accused of that the shares were low.

they spoke of newspaper that fought about imperisism and that made him the Zik of africa. can u imagine

you can not ask question without this people turning it tribal, insulting u or going round about undecided

Yet this people are educated and have gone to the doors of university and they can not come out and POST A CORRECT AND CONCISE RESPONDS TO MY QUESTION ON THE QUESTION I ASKED

some would even this it is an attack on the igbos huh as u can see with chino

such ignorance and lack of idealism. this are going to be our future leaders. God help us cry

RoadStar:
Dude stop being desperate and making innacurate statements and then misquoting comments. your beginning to look sorry  undecided
As at the time UNN was created in 1960 UI was still a college of the University of London. UI became an independent university in 1962. (I havent found any reference to Awo involved with the creation of UI) as all u Awo trumpet blowers wanna make us believe.
ABU was also founded in 1962.
Nnamdi Azikiwe, an eminent Nigerian journalist acquired a small property bank named Tinubu Properties for 500 naira or 250 pounds. Azikiwe was a shareholder of the National Bank of Nigeria before the purchase and had entered the banking industry partly to shore up the financial foundation of his newspaper group and also to help the credit problems of indigenous businessmen. In 1946, the bank became known as Tinubu Bank and a year later it came to bore the name African Continental Bank. By 1949, the bank had a nominal capital of about 250,000 pounds controlled by the founder, Azikiwe, it was affiliated with the Zik group and was one in twelve out of the group's subsidiaries. Apart from marketing itsself to indigenous businessmen it also financed some business activities in the Zik group. During the 1940s, the bank played in role in extending credit activities to the group.

During the mid 1950s, with the founder already foremost nationalist, the bank became mixed in politics and business. The bank was helped financially by the Eastern regional government leading to an investigation into improper conducts by the bank's founder, Azikiwe who was then premier of the region
So he has to die first before u agree he accomplished anything.
The newspaper was also a training ground for notable writers including Anthony Enahoro and Akinola Lasekan, the latter was the first to use pictorial cartoons for political satire in the pages of a Nigerian newspaper.
This was just side talk and I never highlighted it as an accomplishment.
I'm sure it would have been an accomplisment if it was Awo.He attacked imperialism everywhere existed including Nigeria and as a Pan african anti- imperialist I dont see anything wrong with that.Ofcourse he does but he was one of the VERY few voices as at the time and as u must have read the most well known.

I can see u are getting desperate. I am no more interested in all this gibberish.
U can continue to wallow in your ignorance
first of all calm down, we are having a discussion here. I am not afraid to accept I am wrong as I have always done on this forum. We learn everyday as we walk through life. So there is no gibberish here unless what is the point of you replying to gibberish.

Now

The first Nigerian University is University of Ibadan and even Odili news can comfirm to that

http://odili.net/education.html

also you can educate urself by reading google books

secondly, He was a stakeholder and also why did you not highlight this part "Azikiwe transferred most of his interest in the bank to the regional government and the bank was subsequently nationalized and jointly owned by the Eastern Nigeria Marketing Board and the Eastern Nigeria Development Corporation."

or what is wrong with that.

thridly, again he does not have to die. You used Mandela and co as analogy and I said did he go throught the hardship those ones when through before he can rank him that high?.

Just because the newspaper trained writers does not mean we should call him Zik of africa. C'mon that is low undecided

5thly. As i said earlier there were people in those individual countries that were fighting for there own independence. Even Gadaffi fought for africa independence much more than any african even more than mandela. Which is why when mandela came out of prison he first went to liyba to say thanks to him.

6ly. a lot of media agents fought for our independences even arbert mac .
