the SE is doing fine , mention 5 commercial cities in nigeria and at least 3 igbo cities onithsha, aba and ph must pop up
mention 5 best city to reside in nigeria and enugu ,owerri and ph must come up the rest are abuja ,lag and calabar which funny enough where all federal capitals developed with federal money.

you people still dont get it but i dont expect you to .

if he is a middle belter then he is really a dummy cus that region cant even boast of one livable city, jos is gone, abuja is in the hands of northerners , i dare them to tell hausa fulanis to leave abuja they no born them well, people still go unclothed up till today in adamawa.
Yes if the SE is doing just fine, then why do people from that region migrate to other regions in huge numbers and boast of developing those other regions. You see, that is not the way the human psyche works. Human beings migrate from a region of suffering and poverty to a region of development and easy life and i am sure you know this.

In africa, we have what is called brain drain and I am sure you are aware of that. The reason for this is because africans travel to regions where life is easier and they can enjoy; leaving the poverty fill up africa for a place of great opportunities and education. Same can be said of the SE today.

When you talk of cities that are developed then enugu and owerri does not come to mind at all. I would rather talk of the first 5 Nigeria states which include the FCT. They are Lagos, Delta, Abuja, Rivers and Sokoto; this is not done in any particular order.

I am also aware you know ur basic geography isn't it. Please port harcourt is not a SE or an Igbo town/city. Don't live in denial my friend.

Yes he is a middle belter for Kogi (Igala) i would presume. The middle belt has 2 states that can talk of development which are FCT and Plateau state. Kwara is not doing bad as well.

the question should be why are yorubas flocking into igbo cities like onitsha, aba and ph ? is lagos and southwest no longer enough for you?

what are yorubas still looking for in the north even as they are being killed steady? thought you have free education and lagos so why move to the north? why is there hausa fulani families in every street in igboland, igbo land is the busiest region judged by amount of transporters and airports and activities going on there located there , any other busy part of nigeria apart from the igboland is also powered by igbos so go hang yourself olodo .
Now he is not yoruba but a middle belter. Please stop assuming that anyone that does not agree with igbos is yoruba because WE all are not

secondly, Yorubas moving to the east and north. But I am yet to meet a yoruba man complain about how his is developing the North or the east. They do not boast on there economic impact in this various regions

The hausa/fulani invested in lagos heavy. One name that comes to mind is Dangote. His invest alone generates a certain percentage of revenue for lagos state. I don't see the yorubas telling them to go.

Just because igbos are in a place does not mean it is automatic ur have impacted the community or have invest "heavily" in the place.

So when last have you seen an hausa/fulani man talk about his investment in the SE or lagos. Why do you all talk about ur investment since you know there are other groups in ur region and they have not shouted to the roof tops on how they invested in a certain region.

No part of Nigeria is power by Igbos except SE region. Please if u all feel like the economy depends on you all, then by all means DEVELOP THE EAST.

All this chest beating on how u developed other regions is just getting excess not only by Nairalaners but by Ohaneze.

He was not only Nigerias first president he was Nigerias first indigenous Governor General (A fact which is not well mentioned).
And he is the proprietor of the neo-black african political phylosophy known as Zikism. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zikism)

Dude your presido was named after the guy by his parents and you say he doesn't live in peoples hearts.
All the Military presidents including IBB and Abacha have taken turns to immortalised the guy (Unizik and Zik Airport) even though they are not even Ibo and u say he doesnt live in peoples hearts.

Dude I grew up in Benin-City which used to be part of the old western region, not even a single pathwalk was named after Awo, Awos name is so distant to them.

My guy wake up, the world is not Yorubaland.
so because he was the first president, first governor general and some cooked up crap called Zikism which see politics as a religion for HIS black people makes him the zik of whatever.

Nnamdi azikwe name is not just used by him, a lot of people are named Bello in the north and awolowo in the west and indeed in the mid-west of itsekiri. your argument is flawed . In sapele today delta state(itsekiri land) there is a street called Awolowo Road Ext Sapele, Delta State. so is delta not mid-west again ?

Zik has to be immortalised so we would not here you people calling that SE are marginalised or u want to bring Ojukwu as a national hero. lets say it is a way of letting the sleeping dog lay

who ever said the world is yorubaland. are u reasoning at all ?. we asked a question WHAT DID AZIKIWE ACHIEVE and next you people are bring yoruba and awolowo to this

guys learn to answer questions and stop showing emotional underlining in ur post and inferiority complex each time questions are been asked which leaves bad taste on u all's mouths.

I think DavidDylan replied you,

Canada first of all is politically stable and the french really are a minority in Canada but they are in Canada because they get incentives from the govt to remain Canadians,

B.C joined Canada through a deal which was to build a rail to B.C from I think Ontario. B.C was lured in with a deal, Canada basically became Canada through deals from the center

Quebec has it's own immigration laws you know that?

Plus Canada has a system that ensures no province has a platform to disrespect the other like Nigeria does

Is the North willing to let each region control their resources instead of FG?

And Quebec has a legit separatists party (Bloc quebecois),

As for China, we are comparing apples and oranges here, And no; Tibet has been trying to break free for a long time!

You see, Nigeria won't be the first nation to divide and division isn't a big deal really!!!

at the bolded part, yes it is not a big deal. but before we call it a quit there are some issue i raised that i think you and david should look at

On the basis of EXACTLY WHAT? I have followed this thread from begining to the end and you are yet to provide a SALIENT advantage for us remaining "united". We are CLEARLY NOT united in any form at present, what difference would it make should we go our separate ways? Is there more to the fact that MOSTLY NORTHERNERS spout the "we are better united" empty phrase?
Ok you want to hear the Salient advantage.

1.) Creation of a sense of unity among the 3 major ethnic group:- Not for once in history has the SE and SW and the north have a common goal among themselves.

I am sure if u are igbo, you have heard of arochukwus ever forming a country in "peace" with lets say Ngwa. or if you are yoruba, have u not heard to the egba vs ijebu

in the igbo nation alone, i can say we have about 20 nations in itself and north we have about 20 nations again. there is no denying that. the only reason this small groups come together to form a big ethnic group is because of common interest or let me put it greed.

2.) The journey has begun:- Since the amalgamation, we have already signed an argument to be together. there has been a lot of intermixing and today in nigeria, we have half hausa/half igbo etc. where do u suggest this people to go. or should they break there homes because of some people can't tolerate each other.

3.) what happens to investments of people in different region

lastly, i would leave you with this, a single stick can be broken but bunch of sticks are harder to break.much harder

davidylan:
This is nonsense and betrays your lack of common history. Yes Tibet is yet to split from China only because the Chinese military is essentially occupying Tibet. There is a reason China was unhappy the Dalai Lama met with Obama yesterday.

Nonsense. Quebec (french-speaking part of Canada) once mooted a plan to split from Canada. That they remain together does not detract from the fact that nations with almost a 50:50 split of muslims and another religious group pretty much end up splitting! Sudan, India-Pakistan-Bangladesh, Bosnia e.t.c!
don't know much about foreign countries so i can talk about it much. i just used them as an analogy

davidylan:
Lets start with carving out the north first so they can have their sharia law in peace. How the rest of us decide to split should not be your problem.

Hopefully if boko haram hasnt turned us into Pakistan part 2.
I have put times without number on this forum that it is not only the north that practise sharia. your precious Lagos have 3 sharia court in it. and majority of the SW states. would u carve out lagos and other SW as well.

davidylan:
Lets start with carving out the north first so they can have their sharia law in peace. How the rest of us decide to split should not be your problem.

Hopefully if boko haram hasnt turned us into Pakistan part 2.

The problem i have with many here is the naive nonsense. Al qaeda started out as a bunch of renegades . . . the world told us to ignore them . . . today Afghanistan and Pakistan are on the verge of collapse.

If the south thinks mere repatriation of its citizens from Borno is the answer to the problem, best of luck to the rest of you.
naivity!!! what are you talking about

did MEND not start the same way, why did the north not call for split. but when the north does something, it is call to spilt this country

did the north ever wanted to be in the country at the first place?

You DO NOT need to proffer solutions to problems you already HIRED and PAY people to deal with. You only need to demand they fix the problem . . . it is there duty to find the best solution out there and apply it AS PER YOUR REQUEST.

ok point taken, i would thought the job of the state and local government is to improve the welfare of the state in terms of education etc and also to execute small projects like street lights, roads etc

i think, the erosion is a bit large for the SG to tackle alone. thanks though

To your point, it can serve as a lethal weapon.

Demolition of skyscrapers or large concrete structures are done by strapping dynamites to them to create implosion force and level the building.

That's too much of lethal weapon in the hand of a foreigner, assuming the construction company ownership story is not a decoy to hide laundered money used both to import arms and as well to sidestep currency and tax regulations.[/quote]thanks for the education , i thought as much

why do u igbos like sayin this when every day u keep fleeing the SE to other regions, even if u are constantly killed? I mean most of u guys cant even stay in your supposed paradise and no one is actually keen on visitin the SE. Pls stop being arrogant and admit your region is the worst livable region in nigeria. Even the north that is crisis ridden has more visitors (most of them from the east) than the SE. That speaks volume about your region. We should see less emigration from the SE and then this your claim will hold water. I read somewhere that this erosion in Igboland can be traced to the days of the palm oil trade. Seems like that plant will continue to impact us, since is loosened our soil.
brother, with the pictures i just saw on the internet and my stay in anambra, i can assume that the erosion has to do with the topography and the geographical location of the SE and not just anambra but also enugu abia and imo

found out that there are highlands in the cross river, benue areas and because of that the land in benue, cross river are hard

but when going down, the water is meet with lose clay soil of those state and the rushing water can easy eat up the soil slowly

and as u righly said, the palm oil plantation could also have loosen up the soil more

i think sand and rock filling would be a cheap and effective way of going about it
