tuyota: The question is why would anyone want to claim them? funny question but i would answer your question in simple terms 1. igbos don't want to be landlocked, and by claiming the costal ikwerri in rivers state, they would have access to ocean 2. by claiming groups, it is easy to colonise them 3. extenting there territory 4. they want to enslave minorities like efik, ijaw etc 5. oil in ND they want to claim it 6. igbos have the ideology that SS was part of there empire ,.,. lol comical as u can see in biafra case 7. the same can be said about ijaws claiming ikwerri and co i believe the minorites have the right to chose by themselves and no self imposition i am a minority as well in yoruba term (awori) but my people have chosen yoruba even after ijaws are claiming us and i beleive that is how it should be done. if a group says no then it is no also the my kanuri people have associated themselves with the wider north and it is by choice and not claim ngwa has well have done the same to igbo so life is by choice and it should not be forced |

tuyota: It's so sad to see that there are many bigoted people in Nigeria, including many highly educated folks on nairaland. I promise you that even if you make every state a country, many of you will still want your clan to produce the president. And if your clan is a country, your family must produce the president at all costs and so on. That's how low we have gone, a nation of highly educated bigots.
Apologies to all non bigots here. no i see no bigotry here at all ijaws do not want to be claimed and ikwerri does not want to be called igbo i see nothing wrong in this groups fighting for their rights |

adconline: So it's bad for a Christian to be weary of Islamic ban, but somehow acceptable for someone to kill in the name of religion so long as they are uneducated. Simply put, hide under the umbrella of uneducated to unleash violence on innocent people .
What's missing in this whole argument is the CIVILITY of Christian opponents who have neither killed anyone nor burnt any houses because their concerns are not addressed by CBN. Could this have been the case if it were Muslims whose opinions are not being considered?
Talk about USA, most Americans opposed a mosque being built near Ground Zero- NYC. you see my brother, i love and respect the Christians yes some people take it to extreme level and it is for Allah to jugbe them |

BIGER BOY: I believe this argument is been skewed the wrong way. @alh harem @all firstand foremost the CBN is not sponsoring any bank, it is only creating a regulatory frame work for the bank to operate. lets get that right, if the proposed bank fails to meet CBN requirement in any form it will have its licence revoked. oh ok thanks |

0lumide: Depending on what the "islamic banking" is going to be,
A banking product to be offered by all licensed banks in the nation or a brand name for the policies of a a select group of bank,
Are you also Haka nai? i am not haka nai i would go with the bolded and the word "offer" is the key |

Mariory: And since when have private banks been the same as public (Government owned) seaports? This is what you have to understand. Why should the CBN governor be promoting any private institution or organisation? ok i actually see you point if am correct people are angry because it is funded by CBN (Sanusi) and not the name Islamic bank, is that right? then the president and minister of finance has every power to stop that if they do not support it but they are not saying anything this are Christians by the way |

dd2jj:
@ slimtoney. Every Nigerian that is opposing Islamic banking has the right to their opinions because we have come to identify islam with violence and hatred, d main reason why I got converted to Christianity. Anybody that has lost relative or properties to the frequent religious crisis in the north will never agree to islamic banking. If d religious coloration been given to it is removed and the principle of opreting the banks is purely secular, no problem. That Islam accomodates Christianity more than Christianity to islam may not be correct. Looking at all the religious crisis in the north, what did the christians do wrong that let loose the demons of blood sucking islam on innocent Nigerians or how do you justify the killings of the 10 NYSC members in the north recently? How accomodating is islam. If you claim razor sharp utterances, where is the tolerance and accomodation in islam. Even you as a muslim, you are not save in the north when they start their madness. I lost my uncle, an Alhaji, a devout muslim to one of those islamic riots in the north, so what are we saying?
sorry to hear that |

So let the Ministry of Aviation promote a particular airline to help that branch of air travel grow right? that is not even a good example or anonlogy to use at all why not say this the minitry of works have built a seaport in the SE to promote trade in that branch of the country. that is better and i believe this is done, isn't it |

and that is why we northerners are fighting against them
that is why we try to be reasonable with people

Mariory: "The FSA's policy towards Islamic banks, and indeed any new or innovative financial services company, can be summed up simply as "no obstacles, no special favours". We are keen to promote a level playing field between conventional and Islamic providers. One thing we are clear about is that we are a financial, not a religious, regulator." and his Sanusi own religious and what prove asi aid earlier, CBN needs to do this to help this branch of the banking sector grow |
