EducationRe: Private Universities In Nigeria by Allenpowered(m): 7:50am On Jun 03, 2005
Peolples, looks like I'm the only one against the proliferation of this new universities...

To me I think the issue at hand is not the creation of universities but JOBS. At the end of one's tertiary education, of what use is one to the society?
I think what has to be looked into is deeper than private universities to create admissions for JAMB takers...Our whole education policy needs to be revised to make graduates result oriented, of what benefits have the many universities already in existence been to Naija's technological take-off? ZILCH!So our education should be focused not in quantity but in quality of the graduates.

Also care should be taken of the older universities and they should not be allowed to go to the dogs as is currently the case- they are grossly underfunded.

FoodRe: My Boyfriend Has Turned Me To A Cook: Could This Be Love? by Allenpowered(m): 12:27pm On May 27, 2005
I think people should know when they are being taken advantage of. I think another issue here is self respect: if the the girl values herself she should not allow herself to be used. She is being used! People should learn to say 'NO' when they are being incovenienced.
BusinessRe: Virgin set to take over Vmobile by Allenpowered(m): 12:21pm On May 27, 2005
I don't think that our companies would be dead as Seun said because of the entry of Branson (or presumed entry?)

Britsh Airways is not dead because of Virgin Air. Competition is beneficial to the consumers most of the time. Anyhow, Branson can only have at most 49% share in Vmobile, so technically it is still a Nigerian company.
PhonesRe: "0806" Phone Numbers on MTN Nigeria Network by Allenpowered(m): 12:17pm On May 27, 2005
I don't know if the N500 free recharge is part of it...I'll find out, but I presume it is.

Yeah a lot of companies have numbering plans, most oil companies and other multinationals have reserved line for their staff.

Christianity EtcRe: Who is your Favorite Popular Pastor or Preacher in Nigeria? by Allenpowered(m): 12:02pm On May 27, 2005
I like preachers who are humble and well say whats on their mind...and not forgetting the original message of the Bible: winning souls(i'm not "born again" though!), not about being rich(though i guess it is necessary for the gospel)
FamilyWhat's your Ideal Family Size? by Allenpowered(op): 11:54am On May 27, 2005
We are 3 kids and well it's fun. We really get to know each other and are very good friends.

But now, we all have moved on. You'll hardly have a time when we are all at home, it's just the parents.

I wonder if a large family would have been better for the parents, so they'll at least see one of the kids for a longer time. However, considering the economic reality, it is not advisable.

I would love like 6 kids. grin grin grin What about you?

BusinessRe: NEPA/PHCN: Cheap and unreliable vs. Expensive and reliable? by Allenpowered(m): 11:07am On May 27, 2005
I feel your idea Ka, all you want is a good service by the Power company.

The reality of the whole thing as I'm always quick to point out is that things that work well in other countries don't seem to work in Naija. What is the guaantee that when there is an increase in tariff there wo't be more corrupt managers to embezzle the money

Of course no one would go to the market to but unreliable product for himself, its the constraint on resources that make people do that.

Also, fundamental questions should be asked from the NEPA management: what has been done to this great amount of money spent on power generation,no results...then why should an average Nigerian expect anything better when they pay more...

PoliticsRe: Senators and FCT/Finance Ministers by Allenpowered(m): 9:54am On May 27, 2005
Not the senators and the FCT minister, but between the house of reps and the FCT minister.the budget issue is the bone of contention between the senate and the finance minister...well i guess thats the much i can reliably say i know
PoliticsRe: Senators and FCT/Finance Ministers by Allenpowered(m): 9:13am On May 27, 2005
I don't really think its anything to worry about; it has become part of Nigeria politics. With the excessive power being wielded by the executive, it is almost impossible for anything to be done to the president's "annointed" ones like the finance minister and the FCT minister.

I think the senate is also doing this to seek relevance in the Nigerian polity, we all know they've been dormant for most part of their stay. sad

RomanceRe: If You Find Your Partner in a Compromising Position with someone else ... by Allenpowered(m): 1:10am On May 26, 2005
Well I'll do what I think I should do. I'll walk out ... forever.

We could still be friends if she wants to explain why she did that. Infact, more than friends. But I guess the relationship, for the better part, is dead. What is the essence of a relationship without trust? I can't trust her again (and I'm not God who gives second chances).
PoliticsRe: 'Outright Collapse of Nigeria' Predicted by US Experts by Allenpowered(m): 1:04am On May 26, 2005
USA is not God, USA and her experts in Langley where the CIA headquarters is, though privy to a lot of information we 'mere' mortals do not have access to, are still not always right.

Ka, I like your analysis. Do you plan to work for our State Security Service? I think Dokubo's name is Asari Dokubo, not the other way round.

I think Obasanjo was right in his decision. I think we, as Nigerians, should also work towards a much more unified nation, though I know this is a most daunting task

The US government has been known to be over-sensational a lot of times and they are not above perjury - check out the case of Iraq!
