Damn!Well being the gentleman i presume i am  , I'll probably just walk away...abegee, I no be agbero to dey fight woman. But I think that would probably end the relationship, who knows, the next time it could be a pestle on my head  . It is not really fair to compare Soyinka and Achebe. But looking at the kind of awards they have received and the way they are perceived in local and international limelight, one has no option than to say Soyinka is more well known([I]please note I did not say greater[/I]) Soyinka has been a vocal critic of bad governments, he is vociferous in any cause he supports,he is a nobel laureate, he has courted controversies in his prime with the issue of Pyrates, his pro-Biafra stance and holding up a radio station.Many motorists would remember him for his Road Safety campaigns, he likes making an impression, his style of writing is wel to say the least a complex (I had a hard time following [I]The Interpreters[/I]...he is classy-let's give him that Achebe on the other hand is quieter, he makes contributions to National issues when necessary (the recent being the rejection of a national merit award), he is the typical still water that runs deep. He has the ability to connect with his audience with his simple style of writing and plots ... some feel he should have been a nobel laureate too, which I think I agree with. As you can see greatness is perhaps depends on a person's point of view. |

I don't particularly subscribe to it, but man it sure keeps wondering how crazy we humans could get. it is not exactly healthy as Hidden hunter said. I won't allw my kid brothrs to watch if i had my way...If it offends your sensibilities[i] abeg[/i] switch to another station, because it looks like Jerry Springer would be here for a long time to come! |

I have not seen the diary of a mad black woman...but i think african american movies are kool by me. I particularly like the hilarious kinds like Down to earth, and i love the other genres too ...they are ok any which way u look at it. |

Hey monsieur chawkee, i don't think this is the right place to post this topic the problem of flooding in VI would persist as long there is nothing done to the drainage system. A better drainage system which can handle the volume of water is what is needed.Indiscriminate blockage of drainages should also be avoided. |

Well, I think is a great idea. If music can be encouraged as part of our education curricula, maybe we'll discover a lot of Felas, Lagbaja et cetera in time. Then their energies can be channelled in the right direction. |

I can't stand the sight so what do u like about snakes apart from the natural human aversion for them? also I'll like to know how many pet snakes do u have, how do feed them, do u actually walk them like I'll walk a dog( I came across a new patented snake leash sometimes ago- people don dey crase!!!) maybe if u tell us whats so spectacular about snakes we may get to start liking them(but I don't know how I can!) |

I was in church yesterday and you've already guessed right, the issue was tithing.This topic relates mainly to Christian faithfuls.The preacher continued this long dissertation on tithing.He rankled me I must say. He quoted extensively from the Old testament, Malachi 3 vs 10. The grouse I have with tithing is there is no where it is preached by Jesus or any of the apostles...it is all in the old testament, why the emphasis by preachers on it.If they want to follow the Old testament, let them do and if it is the New Testament let them follow it. I believe that one should give what one wants to give...it may be more than the tithe for all I care, but one should not be compelled to pay tithes. |
