GambaOsaka: Which century are you in ? All you said was correct until 9 months ago. Some Professors are begging for food now. Most of them have gone into debts due to the unpaid 8 months salary. They have borrowed from cooperative here and there to sustain their livelihood with the hope that government will pay them for the work they didn’t do. Nowadays, smart professors do jamajama by going to private universities to teach part time. You know of a professor begging for food ? Or just hearsay and hypothetically thinking the 8 months strike will make them destitute..... |

Yankee101: The mistake you’re making is assuming Naija person go remain for minimum wage abroad forever
When (even professionals) travel abroad they don’t have the requisite proper certificates to practice. A doctor needs to write certain exams and pass, a lawyer has to be called to the bar in that country, an IT guy may need certain certifications etc, so they resort to jobs requiring no qualifications until they finish their masters abroad or get the necessary certification. So las las them go pay several professors salary
The best bet is to get all your certifications and pass your exams before your travel so you can start job hunting for a professional place or even get employment before you leave. The washing scenario was the least possible case option, barring homelessness, illness etc Talking from experience, A professor I know just sent her daughter to university of Kingston, London... half of her school fees have been paid for as tuition deposit. She doesnt do any Job other than study, the professor is sending her 1k£ per month for upkeep.... In summary, Nigerian professors are living pretty decent lives. A typical professor have 100% chance of relocating abroad, but they don’t.... They have there reasons..... I could remember when I was in my 300L in University of ibadan, junior lecturer that just came few weeks ago have started riding highlander... few weeks after, she went to Canada for research.... Many professors go on holiday in abroad like they are travelling inter-state.... In summary, Nigerian professors cannot be oppressed, these guys are money bags but just pretending to be broke... You will be very wrong if you think a professional in abroad is better than them |

Yankee101: It’s being in an environment that gives your opportunities to succeed
Imagine he bought the property during Goodluck at 7.5mN, today it will be worth 2mN in reality (adjust for inflation and devaluation)
But Someone that cleans nyash (sorry I don’t use such crass words but have to say it exactly as it is) in the UK makes more than a professor in Nigeria Collecting minimum wage in UK cannot make u better than a Nigerian professor. Dead that illiterate mentality.... You will hardly see a professor that have not traveled out for research to Europe.... |

Ballzproblem2: the problem with Nigerians they think money is everything.
a) peace of mind
b) security
c) good weather.
Nigeria can't guarantee you what I listed above even with money. Peace of mind, Good weather Which country will you see those 2 if I may ask ? |

Quaddafi29: I know two of my town guys there. One is an English teacher and he rolls in money and the other is a club bouncer and swims in money. It is a country where Russia has much of it's space stations. I don't know much about there but I am so sure it's better than this herdsmen country. People are not swimming in money in Nigeria?!!! Ignorance at its peak... if its that better, why is there magnanimous exodus of there citizens.... you'll see many of them in UK, China, never dreaming of going back to there homeland.... If you are asked to mention one single thing that made that country better than Nigeria now, u wont mention any meaningful thing than security which is even worse over there.... comparing that poverty riddled Russia puppet state with "green white green".... It's English teaching that made your friend rolling in money ? How much money are we talking about here ? If really much, better tell him to show u way on what he really does and not kid urself... |

QuinModah: Anyone who will stay in Nigeria because of a higher salary is quite confused about the logic and purpose of their japa. This is basic maths, but nobody pays attention in maths class these days.
To be honest, alot of Nigerian's leaving the country is for a better life standard, and not necessarily money, people are seeking for safety, good health care system, quality education system etc. Trust me with your money in this country you can't afford those, You are just clowning. You have no idea of Japa if you think anyone is leaving not for money but for safety...... why not go to Ghana if safety is your problem... atleast, many Nigerian celebrities are living there coz its safe.... And who told you there's no quality education In this country, how much are u paying that u're looking for quality education, you see students in covenant university complaining ? If safety is your problem, just don't think of moving to America, you will be utterly disappointed... |

IyaTola: What's reality? Kindly explain Like current crazy electricity bills... being afraid to on heater and just flow along inside the freezer u are coz 6 hours of putting radiator on can cost you arm and leg.... My person have been looking for house for a month now and when those agents hear u're Nigerian on phone, they say I'll get back to you and never get back... like the ridiculous children school fees (60 pound for just 2 classes in a week...) Like the crazy traffic in England to be precise, people with no car have more freedom in that region.... You think Lagos traffic is worse, Na, wait till you're there Not to forget 9£ per hour minimum wage is Gabbage. You might be depressed if you keep on earning that for more than 2 years of your stay..... I ain't even painting the worst scenario, not even giving micro idea of an average Japa experience.... when you are there, then u realise the scam and start searching for better countries to move into... Unless u're the type that have seen shege banza in your home country, yeah! Current UK experience will just be fine to you.... |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: What Salary Range Can Make You Remain In Nigeria? by alphabbey1(m): 12:28pm On Dec 25, 2022 |
QuinModah: This case here depends on the person skill-set, and how important such person is to the firm.
Average entry level salary in UK is
$32,500 = ₦14,428,050.00 yearly.
Let's break it down.
$32500/12 = $2,708 making ₦1,202,189.52 monthly. (Subjected to all statutory deductions)
In short there are many companies that can afford this in Nigeria depending on how skilled you are.
Note: it's not bad to japa and it's not bad to stay back, but it's depends on your purpose.
Let me stop here. Stop using UK as an example please. That country should not be advertised on open media again... UK is pure scam, its when one reach there reality will dawn..... US and Canada is fine... |

Lexiskillz09: Good evening guys. I'm sorry for the long story. But it's serious Please Please I need ur opinions on this issue bothering me. I am a Industrial chemistry graduate. I graduated last year and just completed my NYSC. I want to go for postgraduate studies but I am having difficulties in making a decision on what to do.
Someone advised me to switch to Chemical engineering, (this will require a 1 year postgraduate diploma course) though I wouldn't mind if there's a guarantee I stand a very good chance in the labour market after the PGD and MSC. On the other hand, 2 bros in my area I respect so much discouraged me about switching. Both of them were of the opinion that it would rather keep me confused instead of helping me. That recruiters will consider a candidate with B.Eng Chemical engineering without a masters over me, while chemistry field will consider a chemistry msc holder over me also. Bottom line, it's almost a waste of time especially here in Nigeria that I should just do msc in industrial chemistry.
I'm still young though. I Will be 22 on 27th of this month. Go for medical science Forget switching to engineering |

Wickedfacts: Those in the US and Canada are far better better. You see those unfortunate enough to be in the UK, they suffer the most. The pictures they post, they snap on the road or in front of stores. Thereafter, they run inside to resume their shifts. You will never see them post vacation pics outside the UK. Tax no gree them travel. Very true. For most UK residents, You gotta be probably in the health profession, Nurse to be precise, for you to think of taking a trip round the world. Many Nigerians go there to do the lowest of the low Jobs (health care), to be paid minimum wage and clearly, that can't take them anywhere unless u wanna overwork yourself... |

Aside the financial implications, it is completely right and easier to move with one's family. In fact, that on its own is enough proof of not wanting to elope with their women. The only issue that may arise is the F1's inability to justify the funds meant to defray the F2s' expenses. Get to embassy with your relatives first... |
