Ibadan – The Oyo State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the death of a 13- year old boy who allegedly committed suicide when asked to go and read his books.

Speaking, police spokesperson, DSP Olabisi Clet-Ilobanafor, said that the boy (name withheld), hung himself on March 31 at about 6.15 p.m.

Clet-Ilobanafor said that one Bamigboje Zachaus of E7/854, Aiyekale Agugu area of Ibadan, reported the incident to the police.

According to the police, Zachaus claimed that he noticed that his family friend’s son was not seen at the passage where he was ordered to go and read his books.

After a search was conducted, he was later discovered where he hung himself.

“Zachaus told the police that he raised an alarm when he observed that the victim’s body was still warm as he immediately untied him.

“He rushed the boy to Adeoyo State Hospital, Ring Road, Ibadan, for medical attention, but he was later confirmed dead by the doctors,” she said.

The police added that they had visited the scene of the crime and had taken photographs of the victim.

The corpse had also been deposited at the mortuary, while autopsy reports are being awaited.

In another development, a 60-year old man, Mukadam Azeez, has been arrested for defiling a 12-year old girl.

According to the police spokesperson, one Esther Olalekan of Agbongbon area, Ibadan, reported that her daughter, (name withheld) was defiled by the accused person.

Azeez, who lived in the same house with his victim, was said to have committed the crime on April 2 at about 6 p.m.

Clet-Ilobanafor added that medical examinations carried out on the victim revealed that penetration actually took place.

She added that when interrogated, the accused person confessed to the crime.

The case, she said, had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for appropriate actions. (NAN

Its take a lot to get married. One can always feed so its not all about feeding. People got their first car as cheap ones others had their first cars as expensive ones so that's standard. U need to be able to assume the status/ duty of a captain to be a husband/father u just don't hurriedly do that. Please give us time we need all the time we can get.

During long courtship you consume the time meant to enjoy marriage. But the good thing is that when u date for so long u become very close and eliminate every vent of suprises that may spring up later. There's one thing I wnt to discourage while in school (uni) as a guy or girl never date an age mate or someone with the same level. U will face problems when trying to start ur life and plan marriage. For instance am 25 my girlfriend is 25 am not prepared to marry now cus as a guy I feel am too young but my gf thinks she's growing too old. Now I don't know what to do. How I got into this problem is what I discouraged earlier on.

When I see someone who speaks english fluently I see a person who's quick to learn. This is becus from time immemorial english has been a foriegn language. Eg my governor adams oshomole when u hear him speak u think he got a 1st class but recently his basic education was questioned but we all know how intelligent he is. Hence I conclude that one who speaks english well is a good leaner and an intelligent one

Jonathan will say accident occurs more frequently on good roads. If all the roads were galloping trucks and cars will move slowly accidents will be minimized. Jonathan was not entirely senseless in his speech. But however safety on the road lies squarely on the road users. That's my thought.

Nigeria star Ahmed Musa has revealed he has become a proud father for the first time with the birth of his son on Saturday evening.

The CSKA Moscow winger's wife Jamila gave birth to a bouncing baby boy at about 7pm at Standard Hospital in Kano.

A proud Musa said he is excited to be a father for the first time.

"My wife delivered a baby boy today (Saturday) in Kano. I am very happy to become a father for the first time. I give God the glory for making my wife deliver safely. I now hope to score a goal for him on Monday," Musa said
