LiteratureRe: Zion Rufus ‘the Lagos Hustle’ by AlphaMogul: 11:52am On Oct 13, 2021
Veronica617:
I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it. I want it, I got it….”

The soundtrack I had earlier picked for my alarm tune, rang through my dream, jolting me awake.

4:30 am

I rolled in bed, trying so hard to keep my eyes open. I worked till late the previous night and ended up getting only four hours of sleep. I got up reluctantly, chanting my usual swear “The hustle go pay las las”.

It had turned out to be a general consolatory chant “….las las, everybody go dey alright…”.

Running the quickest bath, Lex’s words invaded my mind for the umpteenth time “Writing is a passion. You are an adult now, you have to make money somehow…”.

I sighed.

Graduating in a few weeks, She already moved her stuff from school back home. Marie too.

Lola and I still had a year. I reminisced our first year in school, how we met. From being friends of friends to become the best of friends.

I sighed again.

Stepping out of the bathroom, I hurriedly drew my clothes on, rolled my hair in a band, picked up the bag containing my documents, and rushed out of the house to the bus stop.

5:40 am

I walked past early morning preachers, food sellers preparing a fire for cooking, half-dressed ladies with painted faces trying to get off the streets before dawn, and beggars begging for alms.

“Ikeja! Ikeja! Opebi-Allen, Ikeja!”

A danfo commuter bus finally pulled up.

6:05 am

The early risers were already at the bus-stop, waiting for buses that would convey them to their various destinations. From well-suited men and women to high schoolers and traders dragging on sacks of their wares. This was their daily lives. Their daily routine. Their everyday hustle. Monotonous tasks of daily work.

“Ikeja! Opebi-Allen, Ikeja! Enter with your Two hundred Naira! I no get change o!” The bus-boy yelled relentlessly. With messy hair and jeans shorts that had seen better days, he hopped out of the bus to wrestle a tout that was threatening to smash the bus’s side mirrors if his ‘dues’ weren’t paid.

They dragged each other along, shouting curses as they went on with their unwanted drama. Commuters, on the other hand, rushed into the empty bus; Well suited men and beautifully dressed women were struggling, pulling, pushing, as each person tried to secure a seat. It was a sorry sight.

I moved a few feet away from the chaos, to keep my outfit from getting ruined. Staring down at the file-bag in my hand; It was my sixth proposal. Eight months went.

Eight months of soliciting, volunteering, overthinking, crying, hustling, submitting applications, and mailing proposals to several News agencies and media outlets; I felt sorry for myself.

Life as a writer wasn’t as ‘Easy and fun’ as people had chosen to see it. There are days of being blank and complete emptiness, days of being sad and unexplainably moody, days of creating masterpieces that would end up being ridiculed by others instead of being praised and accepted. I sighed.

The bus-boy continued his chanting after he had finally succumbed to the tout’s ‘Hundred Naira’ demand. “Allen, Ikeja! Two more chance! Allen, Ikeja!”. The bus made to pull out of the bus-stop when it halted suddenly.

“Madam come down jhor! Come down!,” The bus-boy yelled angrily at a market trader.

“Madam come down! I no collect hundred Naira! I say commot for my bus this woman!” He continued again in pidgin. The middle-aged woman slowly alighted the bus with her sack of fresh vegetables.

“Three more chance! Opebi-Allen! Three more chance!” I bowed my head in misery. What a life. For a brief moment, I asked myself ‘why are you doing this?’

But the answer remains ever so clear ‘I don’t want to be an obnoxious reporter, writer, or journalist who chases celebrities and public figures across parking lots or buildings and shouts questions at slammed doors’. I am MORE. And this is me working hard to be More.

6:45 am

Another bus pulled up.

“Ogba-Ikeja!”. Moving carefully towards the bus, so as to avoid contact with the market traders and their sacks of raw fishes and vegetables; I couldn’t afford to get my clothes soiled, the First impression mattered greatly.

I boarded gently; choosing a seat by the window. I held the exact Two hundred Naira fare in my hand to avoid embarrassment; The bus-boys were naturally sporadically rude. As the bus pulled out, holding tightly onto the file-bag, I concluded it was going to be the last time. The last one. The last proposal.

This relentless routine has to end. This is me at my wit’s end. This is me, tired. Tired of my daily grind. Tired of soliciting and writing letters after letters to convince people I am good enough.
A vivid story line that captures
the sights and sounds of Lagos.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Looking Back At The Rich Yoruba History Of Jos North In Plateau State. by AlphaMogul: 8:50am On Oct 13, 2021
PROVERBZ:
Even tho it does not seem like it anymore, but there used to be a small flourishing Yoruba community right at the center of Jos north.
Yoruba people started immigrating to Jos north the capital of plateau state as far back as the 1840s, Way back. Even before Igbo people started moving from the south east to Jos.

Of course they flourished, were successful. A little investigation by me and I was able to discover that a number of the early modern buildings in the heart of the city (around ahmadu Bello way, terminus) were and are still owned by Yoruba people whoses ancestors built them. For those of you who live in Jos north you would agree with me that that area serves as the central business district of the city.

So the question that should be asked that no one is asking right now is: Why does it seem like there weren't so many Yoruba people in the city of Jos like it used to be now adays? And the answer takes us back to November of the year 2008.

So what happened? I'm going to give detailed analysis of what happened for those. Who don't already know. Just leave a comment of follow the thread so that u get notified when I do.
CrimeRe: Breaking News: Nigerians Selling Local Rice Twice The Price, As Foreign Rice by AlphaMogul: 9:53pm On Oct 05, 2021
Afamed:
NIGERIANS RE-BAG LOCAL RICE and SELL ALMOST TWICE THE PRICE, AS FOREIGN (we are our own enemies, not govt)

As scarcity of imported rice hits major Nigerian markets, Dr. Cosmas Maduka, President of Coscharis Group, has revealed that his company caught some dealers repackaging its locally grown Coscharis rice brand into foreign bags.

Speaking in an interview with some national dailies, Maduka said his Coscharis Farms Limited has stopped two of their dealers from further carrying out any transaction with them.

“We stopped two of our dealers from carrying out any transaction with us. They would carry our rice and re-bag them into a foreign bag and sell. So, you may not be seeing our brand in the market because of things like this. We are selling our rice to our distributors today at N14,500; the foreign smuggled rice is selling at N25,000,” he said.

The $35 million first phase of the rice mill which has a milling capacity of 40,000 MT per annum was officially launched last Tuesday at a ceremony in Anambra attended by Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele and various Nigerian state governors.

But a recent survey carried out by Nairametrics Research showed that some major rice dealers across Lagos State and other parts of the country are reportedly packing locally manufactured rice into foreign bags, as prices jump higher. This was aftermath of weeks of sustained border closure by the Federal Government.

The report further showed that the visited markets now have various brands of locally made rice in large stock.

Specifically, the available imported rice is now being sold at an average of N26,000 which has now forced many Nigerians to patronise Made-in-Nigeria rice and other locally produced food items instead of the imported ones.

Maduka’s Coscharis Farms started operations in 2014 as an integrated rice processor to meet part of the estimated 5.9 million MT annual rice demand in Nigeria.

Coscharis Farms currently has close to 3,000 hectares of land for rice cultivation in Anambra and an irrigation system on its farm to enable multi cycle rice cultivation.

The Farms has a robust farmer out grower development programme within Anambra State, and its environs that aims to reach thousands of farmers that could provide rice paddy to its mill when completed.

“We want to process paddy harvested from our farm into best quality rice. We want to contribute significantly to the government’s efforts to ensure food sufficiency through local production of rice. In addition, we want to set the pace for production of best quality local rice that will cause our people to change their preference from imported rice to locally milled rice which is known to be rich with important nutrients,” Maduka said at the launch of the rice mill.

In June, the Federal Government of Nigeria announced the approval of the setting up of 10 new rice mills across the federation as one of its strategy in improving agriculture through the value chain.

Leading Agri-business firm, Olam Nigeria Limited also owns a multi-million dollar integrated rice mill in Nasarawa State, fitted with the capacity to produce 36,000 metric tonnes of milled rice per annum.

While the Lagos State-owned rice mill in Imota is nearing completion.

The Imota mill, with a projected 32 metric tons per hour production capacity, is expected to create more than 200,000 jobs in the agricultural sector and also produce approximately 130million Kg of processed rice per year.

Christianity EtcRe: Creflo Dollar Needs $65 Million To Buy A New Private Jet (pictures) by AlphaMogul:
PastorKun:
Popular televangelist and founder of World Changers Church International, Creflo Dollar, is now hoping to get 200,000 people to donate $300 each so he can buy a brand new luxurious $65 million Gulfstream G650 airplane for his ministry, which last year had billionaires reportedly waiting in line to get one.

An appeal on his website to fund the purchase of the multimillion dollar airplane noted that the appeal was triggered by a recent engine failure on his current carrier that could have resulted in a tragedy had it not been for his skillful pilot.

"The ministry's current airplane, was built in 1984, purchased by the ministry in 1999 and has since logged four million miles. Recently on an overseas trip to a global conference, one of the engines failed. By the grace of God, the expert pilot, who's flown with Creflo for almost 20 years, landed the plane safely without injury or harm to any passengers," said the appeal.

Dollar insisted that he needs one of the most luxurious private jets made today in order to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

"Due to this recent incident coupled with the 31 years the airplane has been in service, we believe it is time to replace this aircraft so that our Pastors and staff can continue to safely and swiftly share the Good News of the Gospel worldwide. Believe it or not, there are still millions of people on this planet who have never heard of Jesus Christ and know nothing of His greatness. Our hearts desire to see precious lives changed and snatched out of darkness and thrust into His marvelous light! We need your help to continue reaching a lost and dying world for the Lord Jesus Christ," the appeal continued before asking supporters of the ministry to sow a $300 seed into the airplane fund, billed Project G650.

"The mission of Project G650 is to acquire a Gulfstream G650 airplane so that Pastors Creflo and Taffi and World Changers Church International can continue to blanket the globe with the Gospel of grace. We are believing for 200,000 people to give contributions of 300 US dollars or more to turn this dream into a reality — and allow us to retire the aircraft that served us well for many years," the appeal noted.

Apart from its price tag, this aircraft isn't cheap to maintain, and according to savannahnow only about 100 of them had been built as of November 2014.

The Christian Post reached out to World Changers Church International Thursday for comment on how much of the $65 million has been raised so far but this reporter was repeatedly directed to a customer service line which went unanswered.

In an interview with World Changers Church late last year, representative Kayla Dollar indicated to CP that spreading the Gospel, while convenient for Pastor Dollar, does not come cheaply to the churches where he ministers because they have to partially foot the cost of his fuel bill.

"He does not have a set honorarium now but he does just ask for half of his fuel to be paid while travelling and then anything else if you want to add just as a love offering, would be fine," she explained.

When asked how much the fuel bill to New York City would be, she explained that the full cost of fuel for travelling to New York City was $9,500.

"The cost is $9,500 so he would ask for half of that so $4,750," she said.

That price, she noted, would remain fixed regardless of the size of the crowd.

At $65m, a G650 is indeed a high-end jet as of 2021 just
like it was in 2015!

Scam Alert:
Yesterday my wife asked me to transfer some money to someone. She said she will transfer the money to me from her account to send to the recipient which she did. She normally does this because the bank app that I use will generate a proof of successful transfer (transaction) which her phone could not do. When I asked her for the purpose of the transaction she was silent at first, then later she said it was a business transaction and will give me the details later. Fast forward to about 8:00p.m, my wife was sad and said honey let me open up to you, I have been scammed.

The scammer is: OGIES MARVIS OSAIGBOVO using the alias of Mrs Joy Binomo Invesment on Facebook and Twitter.
Their Strategy: They search for their unsuspecting victims on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram promising to triple whatever cash investment in two (2) hours. They will ask you add them up on Facebook so that you will see evidence of success and yes their page will blow your mind away with success stories. Then you may believe and get added on Whatsapp. That is where they’ll give you the account to invest.
First Red Flag: You are asked to transfer into an Access Bank account name: OGIES MARVIS OSAIGBOVO
And send a proof of payment to them on Facebook. To me I was not cautious at this point and forgot about the transaction.
Second Red Flag: They told my wife that she will be paid in next two hours which was to be by 7:00p.m. because the transaction was done around 5:00p.m.
When she opened up to me that the transaction had failed she made a post on Facebook tagging Mrs Joy Binomo Investment as a scammer and shared on her page. Would you believe it that these scammers had prepared for such alarms, they delete every negative post on their page and block the sender. They blocked my wife from their page. They did this so that unsuspecting victims may never see such posts, thereby never believe or fall for their scams.
Third Red Flag: It later becomes obvious that all the so called success stories were forged by themselves. It is after they have blocked that you will know that you have been scammed.

See here a similar story on Nairaland of a fake Binomo Investment.

CrimeRe: Rema Was Scammed By Brisk Capital Investment by AlphaMogul: 9:46am On Sep 17, 2021
mrkels:
Latest reports reaching us has confirmed that the popular Nigerian artist Divine Ikubor, known professionally as Rema, is also a victim of the Ponzi scheme orchestrated by the 21- year old fraudster CEO of Brisk Capital Investment Dominic Joshua Ngene .

According to our inside source , B*oty Bounce Coroner , REMA invested a huge amount of cash in the scheme and has been heart broken since the company refused paying investors their return on investment.

Another source says they have known each other for a while and this is evident in the fact that both of them follow each other on social media platforms .

It is widely believed that with the help of REMA , other elite artists invested in this scheme and the reported amount currently lost is way smaller than what is currently outstanding to pay out investors .

The 21-year-old man, who claimed to be an investment banking expert, has been arrested by Special Fraud Unit (SFU) of Lagos state police command for diverting investors’ funds worth over N2 billion.

The suspect named Dominic Joshua Ngene, who is the managing director of an investment company, Brisk Capital Limited, was arrested following petitions to the unit by several investors and after verified intelligence gathered on his activities including banking records emerged, DailyTrust reports.

Joshua, who is a native of Ebonyi state but was bred in Cross River state, operates from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, according to police.

CP Anderson Bankole, who is in charge of Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), in a statement, said the suspect lured his victims on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and Linkedin, as well as via newspaper publications.

In the publications, the suspect claimed to be a financial investor of repute and that he managed funds for over 100 individuals and companies.

The CP explained that the victims were conned to invest in Bitcoin, forex trading, real estate and oil and gas with a promise of prompt and accurate 60 per cent Return on Investment (ROI) per month on every sum invested, plus a guarantee of the invested principal.

At this point we can only hope that he and every other scam artist including MAXWELL ODUM of MBA FOREX who took advantage of gullible Nigerians before and during the pandemic are brought to justice .

Source: https://techcabal.com/2021/09/03/how-to-take-a-screenshots-on-your-phones/

Read more helpful consumer tech articles here: https://techcabal.com/category/consumer-tech/

Taking screenshots on your phone is very useful for different reasons. You can take a screenshot of a receipt to confirm payment; or take a screenshot of a movie scene, article line, tweet or IG story to back up a story; you can even screenshot an error message to submit complaints.

But taking screenshots doesn’t come easy to everyone, especially people who aren’t familiar with every feature on their mobile devices.

There are different ways to screenshot, mostly depending on your phone type.

How you take a screenshot with your iPhone differs from how you would perform the same action on an Android device.

How to take a screenshot on your iPhone

Screenshotting on iPhones is a simple process; although that process differs from model to model. Some older iPhone models come with the Home button (such as an iPhone 5 – 8 and iPhone SE) but new models were designed without the Home button (like iPhone XR, 11, and 12 series models).

- If your iPhone has the Home button, press the side button and the Home button simultaneously.
- If your iPhone doesn’t have the Home button, press the side button and the volume-up button simultaneously
- You’ll get a thumbnail image of the screen you screenshotted in the lower-left corner
- Tap on the image to make it larger. Icons in the upper-right corner let you delete it or share it. There will also be editing tools below that let you add highlights or mark them up. Click on the plus sign in the lower-right corner to add text, a signature, arrows, or various shapes.
Tap “Done” in the upper-left corner when you are finished with editing. You can save the image to Photos, Files, or delete it.

How to take a screenshot on an Android device

Unlike iPhones, which have only one way to take a screenshot, android phones have various methods of screen grabbing an image or text on your device.

Samsung Phones

Galaxy S8 and subsequent models:

- Hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.

Galaxy S7 and downward:

- Hold down the home and power buttons for a couple of seconds.

Infinix, Tecno and Itel Mobile phones

These three devices have similar operations especially in taking screenshots. The simplest way to capture the screen is with micro Intelligence, which is a built-in feature in all three devices. Micro intelligence lets you perform some functions by drawing simple gestures on the screen. But you will have to do some settings before you can use this feature.

Setting up micro intelligence

- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down to micro Intelligence and open it.
- Select “Take screenshot with 3 fingers” from the list and follow the illustration on the screen.
- Now toggle on the feature from the interface.
- After you are done toggling the feature, return to the screen you want to capture, then swipe down on the screen with 3 fingers.

Google phones

Nexus:

- Hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.

Pixels:

- Hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.

Huawei phones

- Hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.
- Pull down the notification panel, switch to Shortcuts, and tap the Screenshot icon.

LG phones

LG G7:

- Press and hold the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.

Other LG phones:

- Hold down the power (located on the back of the phone) and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.
- Pull down the notification panel and tap the Capture+ icon.

OnePlus phones

All OnePlus phones:

- Press and hold the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.

OnePlus 5, 5T, and 6:

- Swipe down with three fingers on the home screen.

HTC phones

HTC U12+:

- Press and hold the power button until your phone vibrates, and then tap the virtual home button on the navigation bar while still pressing the power button

HTC U series (up to U12+):

- Hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.

HTC 10:

- Hold down the home and power buttons
- OR hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.

All other HTC phones:

- Hold down the power and volume-down buttons for a couple of seconds.

The following methods are the simplest ways to taking screenshots from your various phones. Now you won’t have to worry about missing a moment when you can easily swipe or press a button to capture it.
EducationRe: 9 Animals Who Have More In Common With Humans Than You Think ! by AlphaMogul: 10:30pm On Sep 16, 2021
9jah:
We've all learned by now that apes are our closest living relatives in the animal kingdom, but you likely didn't know how close! We've created a list to show you exactly which animals are more like brothers, and which are only cousins on the evolutionary family tree.

1. Chimpanzees
Researchers determined back in 2005 that chimpanzees share somewhere between 98.6 and 99 percent of our DNA. They're closer to humans than they are to gorillas! Remarkably, female chimps also share a reproductive cycle similar to that of humans, with most reaching sexual maturity just before or during their teenage years. They also have a gestation period for about 8 months.

2. Bonobos

It wasn't until 2012 that we learned bonobos vary only slight from chimps. In fact, the two share 99.6 percent of their DNA. That means they're almost as close to humans on the genome sequence as chimpanzees are. Researchers believe the three of us separated on the evolutional path between 4 and 7 million years ago. Bonobos, the most emotional of all apes, regulate emotions the same way we do.

3. Gorillas

Though appearances might suggest otherwise, we're also closer in relation to gorillas than gorillas are to chimps. We share 98 percent of our genetic sequence with these majestic fellas. Scientists believe humans and our gorilla brethren diverged from a common ancestor around 10 million years ago. Fun fact: they also found that certain shared genes in our DNA cause diseases like dementia in humans, but not in gorillas.

4. Orangutans

A little further down the family tree lie the loveable orangutans who share 97 percent of their DNA with humans. It turns out male orangutans like to offer effusive displays of "tough-guy" syndrome by leaping around and breaking things before a fight. It's classic "come at me, bro" showmanship. Much like humans males, we think.

5. Gibbons

Gibbons, while belonging to the Hominoidea family like the apes featured above, are actually considered lesser apes. About 4 million years ago, these guys developed arms and shoulders that now allow them to swing through trees effortlessly. One fascinating study determined gibbons use at least 26 sounds resembling songs that the first humans used 1.8 million years ago.

6. Monkeys

A large number of species fit the definition of monkey – over 260 at last count. Researchers found last year that many aspects of our brain that control our thought processes are similar to those of monkeys. In fact, some of the most similar regions include areas that cause OCD and substance abuse.

7. Lemurs

You might've heard these guys like to move it, move it, but did you also know they're primates just like us? Okay, not just like us exactly, but close enough that we likely evolved from the same ancestor, along with lorises and aye-ayes. Unfortunately, more than 70 percent of all lemur species are currently endangered with humans being one of the biggest culprits in their demise.

8. Cats

You probably thought dogs were a little closer on the evolutionary scale, since they're supposedly our best friends. It turns out that cats actually share 90 percent of our genes. They might have also purposely inserted themselves into our homes. Evidence suggests these guys self-domesticated over 10,000 years ago by helping farmers in order to get a little extra protection and food.

9. Cows

That's right, we're related to cows. Research has shown that we share more genomes with these beautiful, big girls than we do with rodents, even though we share a more recent ancestor with mice. They think it's because rodents and smaller animals in general reproduce more rapidly leading to faster evolution.

CrimeRe: Bob Marley Death : Confession Of A Cia Hitman by AlphaMogul: 8:31pm On Sep 16, 2021
SIRPYREXX:
*l KILLED BOB MARLEY - CIA AGENT CONFESSES ON HIS DEATH BED*

CIA, Bill Oxley - finally spoke the truth - He killed Bob Marley
Comment, Share, like - It's time to wake up

A 79-year-old retired officer of the CIA, Bill Oxley, has made a series of stunning confessions since he was admitted to the Mercy Hospital in Maine on Monday and told he has weeks to live. He claims he committed 17 assassinations for the American government between 1974 and 1985, including the music icon Bob Marley.

Mr. Oxley, who worked for the CIA for 29 years as an operative with top-level security clearances, claims he was often used as a hitman by the organization, to assassinate individuals who could represent a threat to the goals of the agency.Trained as a sniper and marksman, Mr. Oxley also has significant experience with more unconventional methods of inflicting harm upon others, like poisons, explosives, induced heart attacks and cancer.

The 79-year-old operative claims he committed the assassinations between March 1974 and August 1985, at a time when he says the CIA “was a law unto itself.” He says he was part of an operative cell of three members which carried out political assassinations across the country and occasionally in foreign countries. Most of their victims were political activists, journalists, and union leaders, but he also confesses to assassinating a few scientists, medical researchers, artists and musicians whose ideas and influence “represented a threat to the interests of the United States.”

He claims he had no problem with going through with the assassination of Bob Marley, because “I was a patriot, I believed in the CIA, and I didn’t question the motivation of the agency. I’ve always understood that sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the greater good.” But Mr. Oxley confesses that Bob Marley remains unique among his victims, as he was the only victim he “felt anything for.”

“The others were assholes. Bob Marley was Bob Marley. I was no closer to being a long-haired hippy back then than I am now, but I must admit Bob’s music did move me. It held some power over me.”

He claims to have “mixed feelings” about Bob Marley’s death. On the one hand, Marley was “a good man, a beautiful soul” with “profound artistic gifts” who did not deserve to have his life cut short. But according to Mr. Oxley, Bob Marley was also placing the goals of the CIA in jeopardy and threatening the existence of the United States:

“He was succeeding in creating a revolution that used music as a more powerful tool than bullets and bombs. Bob Marley in 1976 was a very serious threat to the global status quo and to the hidden power brokers implementing their plan for a new world order. As far as the agency was concerned, Bob Marley was too successful, too famous, too influential… A Jamaican Rastaman who started using his funds and fame to support causes around the world that were in direct conflict with the CIA… To be honest, he signed his own death warrant.”

“It’s not like we didn’t warn him. We sent a few guys to shoot up his house in Kingston,” Mr Oxley says, referring to a shooting in the Marley residence that left the singer with an injured arm and chest. “We had a message for him. We impressed upon him the gravity of the situation he found himself in. He didn’t listen.”

“Two days later, in the mountains, I stuck him with the pin.“

How Bob Marley was murdered by the CIA
Two days after Bob Marley was shot in the left arm by one of three gunmen who ambushed the singer and some of his crew in his house in Kingston, and after a brief stint in hospital, Bob Marley travelled to the protective hills of the Blue Mountains and spent time at the highest point in Jamaica, rehearsing for an upcoming concert. According to Mr. Oxley, he used press credentials to gain access to Bob Marley during his Blue Mountains retreat. He introduced himself as a famous photographer working for the New York Times, and gave Bob Marley a gift.

“I gave him a pair of Converse All Stars. Size 10. When he tried on the right shoe, he screamed out ‘OUUUCH.‘“That was it. His life was over right there and then. The nail in the shoe was tainted with cancer viruses and bacteria. If it pierced his skin, which it did, it was goodnight nurse.”

“There had been a series of high-profile assassinations of counter-culture figures in the United States in the late sixties, early seventies. By the time Bob Marley’s time came around, we thought subtlety was the order of the day. No more bullets and splattered brains.”

Mr. Oxley says he kept close contact with Marley during the final years of his life, ensuring the medical advice he received in Paris, London and the United States “would hasten his demise rather than cure him.” He died from cancer in May 1981. He was just 36 years old.

“The last time I saw Bob before he died he had removed the dreadlocks, and his weight was dropping like a stone,” he says.

“He was very withdrawn, unbelievably small. He was shrinking in front of us. The cancer had done it’s job.” “The day he died in Miami was definitely one of the most difficult moments in my career. I felt real bad. For a long time I wasn’t comfortable with my part in his death. But eventually I came to realize it had to be done, for America.”

May 1981... I still remember
the day that Bob Marley's death from cancer was announced. Surreal! His father had a Jewish bloodline and his mother who later remarried was from Jamaica.

Respect!

Dozis:
So today I took the first jab of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine and here's my experience.

I registered today and I still took the vaccine today, the registration was so simple, easy and seamless, you can register here https://nphcda.vaccination.gov.ng/

After registration, you will receive a message indicating the vaccination time, date and centre.
Luckily for me, the vaccination centre is very close to where I work, on getting there, there was no crowd, as a matter of fact I was the only one coming to take the vaccine as at that time, so I walked up to a nurse and made enquiries, she directed me to the people in charge, they asked wether I've registered I answered in affirmative, they checked my name in their system and confirmed my registration, after the manual registration, I was shown the health worker in charge of the vaccination, the woman was just nice and straight to the point, I received the vaccine and was asked to sit for 10-15 minutes so that they can observe me for side effects and there was none, though I wasn't expecting any and till now, till now I feel nothing but just the initial needle pain and I know some people that took theirs 6 months ago and they are all fine.

I am scheduled to take the next jab by 28th of next month.

I am a front line health worker and during that first wave and lock down I contracted COVID-19 and the experience was not funny, so I don't want to take chances, I don't want to have the feeling again.

To the naysayers, COVID-19 is real and the vaccines are safe and accessible, please go and take yours now.
Well said! Congratulations.

The wait to be vaccinated against the coronavirus is finally over for Nigerians. Nigeria finally received a total of 3.92 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine on March 2nd.

Following this development, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) launched an online portal and announced the guidelines for registrations.

How to register:

Registration requires a device with a working internet connection. Nigerians who want to register can visit the NPHCDA’s registration portal.

What do you need to fill the form?

To fill the vaccination form, you need your basic information: full name, phone number, email address, date of birth, sex, a form of ID, a residential address including states, LGA of residence, and ward of residence.

It was the Moderna, I heard the 2nd dose is always much more painful and all
Okay...

There are folks who have taken
the second jab and they never
had any problems though. The side effects some people feel has to do with the body producing more antibodies and slight increase in body temperature in response
to the vaccination. This is perfectly normal.

My father (who is near 80) had
his first jab two days ago after I had convinced him and he's doing very fine. The rate of hospitalisations
in the UK and U.S. have dropped
by over 90%, so vaccinations are working! The UK is right now planning a 3rd super-booster shot for people over 50 years for extra protection! (Oju kokoro) grin

Last but not least, you can read more now about the percentage effectiveness of Moderna over other vaccines via the recent post on Lalasticlalas profile.

All the best.

StarFlux:
The thing with Yoruba numbers is that they have different forms.

For example one: oókan. If you want to say a or one trader (noun modifier) you will say: oníṣòwò kan, not oníṣòwò oókan. Same with two (eéjì) turns to méjì, as in ilé méjì - two houses.

1. Oókan
2. Eéjì
3. Ẹẹ́ta
4. Ẹẹ́rin
5. Aárùnún
6. Ẹẹ́fà
7. Eéjè
8. Ẹẹ́jọ
9. Ẹẹ́sànán
10. Ẹẹ́wàá
11. Oókànlá
12. Eéjìlá
13. Ẹẹ́tàlá
14. Ẹẹ́rìnlá
15. Aárùnúndínlógún
16. Ẹẹ́rìndínlógún
17. Ẹẹ́tàdínlógún
18. Eéjìdínlógún
19. Oókandínlógún
20. Ogún
21. Oókanlélógún
22. Eéjìlélógún
23. Ẹẹ́tálélógún
24. Ẹẹ́rìnlélógún
25. Aárùndínlọ́gbọ̀n

Etc, etc.

100. Ọgọ́rùn
200. Igba
300. Ọ̀ọ́dúnrún
400. Irinwó
500. Ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀ta

Etc, etc. But these are the traditional numbers.
There is a simplified system for all numbers, as I will show here with thousands (ẹgbẹ̀rún or ọ̀kẹ́

1000. Ẹgbẹ̀rún
2000. Ẹgbẹ̀rún méjì
3000. Ẹgbẹ̀rún mẹ́ta
4000. Ẹgbẹ̀rún mẹ́rin

100 000. Àpò ọ̀kẹ́

I'm sure you will see the logic. Using traditional numbers, it would be very hard to follow once you get really high.

1 million: Òdù kan
10 million: Ìdì òdù
1 billion: Èèrú kan
1 trillion: Ọ̀kẹ́/ẹgbẹ̀rún èèrú kan

Etc, etc.

Hopefully I didn't write any of these wrong. Also, "p" is pronounced "kp", like in ìpínlẹ̀.
Awesome insights!

Know This And Have Some Peace...

I had visited my 120years old grandmother and given her some money. When I was leaving she told me she doesn't need money again. That she can no longer buy nor sell at her age, so I should give the money to the younger ones who need it.

I also have a former governor friend whom I worked with as a green horn journalist. He was governor from 1999-2007. Not too long ago, I saw him at the airport. After check in, he was left seated by the corner of the Murtala Mohammed international airport awaiting his flight. No one even recognized him again, not even passengers from his State where he was governor, and as I walked up to him and greeted him, i asked if he wanted any assistance? He stretched forth his trembling hands to hold me and simply said, "Thank you for even recognizing me again. I just want your attention briefly my son. Sit down let me ask you something. How is Governor Ayade doing Agba?"

I also have a retired Major General friend whom I served as a golf caddy at the NDA golf course in Kurmi Mashi, Kaduna. He was so rich he built a beautiful house he was so proud of. I visited him too, not long ago and wanted us to climb to our favorite spot at his balcony upstairs. He stared at me with a broad smile and said, "Jally, I can't remember the year I went up there. It is lizards and cob webs and the likes that live there now. Even the kids, when they come, they don't enjoy my company in the house anymore than a few hours and they are gone. I don't have the limbs to climb up there again and the cost of cleaning keeps getting higher."

I have seen a lot more things. How yesterday becomes the day before, and how today becomes yesterday, and how tomorrow becomes today. How the past becomes history, and how the present becomes the past, and how the future becomes the present. Nothing ever remains where it is. Your strength, your muscles, your beauty, your wealth, your guts, your worth, your courage, your talent, your YOU, will progressively diminish until it returns to source. The richest man in the world in the 1960s will be on the payroll of the richest man in the world today.

Even the strongest lion in the jungle will someday become weak, frail and be eaten by the same predators it once terrorized.

Keep that in mind always and know that no matter how appealing and tempting that thing may seem, our interest in it will diminish with time. Our strength to consume or own it will vanish with time, until everything is surely taken away from us or we are surely taken away from everything.

EducationRe: 7 Small Things That Can Make You Smarter; No. 2 Is For The Genius. by AlphaMogul: 9:32pm On Sep 10, 2021
Peritome:
7 SMALL THINGS THAT CAN MAKE YOU SMARTER

1. SPEND TIME WITH SOMEBODY SMARTER

As the old saying goes, “No matter how smart you are, there will always be somebody smarter than you.” Use this situation to your advantage. Hang out with somebody smarter, try to pick up their habits and their perception of different things. It helps you to broaden your mind and give a new take on things. When you spend time with smarter people, their attributes somewhat rub on you, and that can only be a good thing.

2. DO PROGRAMMING

If you want to train your brain to think logically and in patterns then you should do programming. It pushes your brain a lot towards the limit, and in return, you come out a much smarter person. You can think of programming as an advanced level of solving puzzles. There are a lot of free websites which can help you to learn to programme. Besides, a lot of jobs requires programming, so it looks good on your CV when you say you know how to do it.

3. READ A BOOK

No surprise about this. Reading books is a great source of information. As the old saying goes, “Knowledge is power,” and you can never have enough knowledge. When you are reading a book, it is also acting as a source of exercise for the brain as its taking in a good amount of information and most of the time you are trying to create a mental image of what’s happening. That’s a great form of stimulant there.

4. PLAY GAMES INSTEAD OF WATCHING TV

When you are watching a movie on the TV or any show, you are consuming a lot of information that is most of the time useless. Yes, it may be entertaining, but it has little or no use for you. However, if you engage yourself in video games, then you are stimulating your brain into something productive. Consider it as a fun workout for your brain since you are doing something that requires complete focus and action on your own. Now you have a legit excuse to play video games.

5. MID-DAY NAPS

We all used to hate the naps we had to take as babies, but these naps are vital for a fully grown adult. Taking a nap in the middle of the day is known to increase the efficiency of the human mind. It also refreshes the mind, thus allowing you to work even better and contain more knowledge. The best time to take a nap is around 3 PM, or you could simply take a nap after a workout session.

6. DRINKING GREEN TEA

Now, most people tend to prefer caffeine as a form of stimulant while working. While it’s a good thing, caffeine tends to make a person very anxious. Also, it causes you to stay up later on at night which hampers your sleep. It’s a good habit to drink green tea while working. Green tea, especially Matcha Tea, contains l-theanine which causes an increase in alpha brain waves. It is also known for making the human body relax without inducing drowsiness.

7. HYDRATING YOURSELF EARLY MORNING

The very first thing you should do after you wake up each morning is to drink two glasses of water. You and your body have been asleep for the whole night, and you wake up quite dehydrated. You need these glasses of water to keep your internal organs and yourself going. Studies have proven that a hydrated body helps you to perform mental tasks better. You wouldn’t want to carry on the rest of the day with your brain dehydrated now, would you?

Very valid points.
