NEROSKY:With this extortionate inflation, I am not sure but in Sept 2014 I completed a three bedroom flat with one parlour for 2.1m. I already had a plot of land, though a plot of land in my village is less than 100k. |
mayorchelsea:The system is already corrupt (institutionalized corruption). There is nothing these few can do no matter how good they are. E.g official price for int'l passport is N17500 bt Immigration collects 28k or more depending on the state. |
Mckandre:How can you try explaining what you yourself don't understand. Google pays for pageviews pls (revenue per mile, rpm or per 1000 views). You earn extra frm clicks. |
Omonoba1:Well Mr know all, perhaps this Nairalander knows nothing too.
|
Mayflowa:I am sorry if my tone got you offended. It's not intended. You are still misquotting me. I never referred to internal medicine as the only physician specialist. He isn't on ur side. The same list or fields i mentioned are the ones he reinforced. Check the statement where he made emphasis on internal medicine (most times we refer to them as physicians in hospital settings), wic was Wat I meant too when I mentioned internal medicine. Unlike u, u said everybody is a physician. I specifically asked him if he, a surgeon was a physician, he said no. Check the chat again. But you have since maintained that everybody is a physician. I even said that all Physicians are Specialists but not all Specialists are Physicians. You still didn't agree with me. I am a pharmacist (first degree), I've got three other MSc n a PGD. my elder bro n younger sister are Drs, my 1st cousin is a Dr, my bestman is a Dr, this my surgeon friend is a childhood friend now in d U.S. I currently work as an emergency response officer (on a team of 4 Drs, 2 nurses n myself). I won't jst be saying what I don't know. Regards. Check out the screenshot for a response from another Nairalander, thorpido.

Mayflowa:My chat with my friend (a surgeon) in WhatsApp.
|
Omonoba1:I just asked my surgeon friend on WhatsApp.
|
Mayflowa:Honestly, I think you have a comprehension problem or perhaps ego issues. A layman here simply means a non-professional in the field/specialty in context. e.g An engineer is a layman in the medical field and vice versa. |
Mayflowa:I never said physicians are specialists in internal medicine only... Don't misquote me pls.. Well, keep calling everybody physician... It's ur choice. |
Mayflowa:If you are a good student or someone who wants to learn I told you earlier that even though the term physician is often used to refer to all doctors or medical practitioners, it not true in real sense. All Physicians are Specialists bt not all Specialists are Physicians. West African college of physicians (WACP) here http://www.wac-physicians.org.......internal medicine, family medicine, community medicine, n paediatrics make up d college. Also check out the West African postgraduate medical college at (www.wapmc.org), click on college of physicians and learn more. |
Mayflowa:Oh you want to leave the Nigerian context u said we shud stick to now? Lol. I see. |
Mayflowa:Extending it to where.. Have read the links I sent to you? West African college of physicians (WACP) here http://www.wac-physicians.org.......college. Also check out the West African postgraduate medical college at (www.wapmc.org), click on college of physicians and learn more. |
Mayflowa:Before you go quoting Wikipedia again check out the West African college of physicians (WACP) here http://www.wac-physicians.org....... Internal medicine, family medicine, community medicine, n paediatrics make up d college. Also check out the West African postgraduate medical college at (www.wapmc.org), click on college of physicians and learn more. A gynaecologist is not a physician in real sense pls. I told you earlier that the fact that the word physician is used loosely and interchangeably (With Dr or medical practitioner) does not mean physician is not a specialty. You just don't want to learn. I understand, academics think they know it all. Well I have a B.Pharm (Nig), MS (USA), MSc (uk), MSc ( Nig), PGD.Epid (India). |
[quote author=Omonoba1 post=51618367]you are indeed the Layman my friend.. physicians. are just doctors ( with MBBS or its equivalent) not a specialist with FWACS certificate or its equivalent... before you argue further, pls google it.[/quo Before you go quoting Wikipedia again check out the West African college of physicians (WACP) here http://www.wac-physicians.org....... Omonoba1:Lol@my profession. You are probably a quack then. Coz even if it were ur profession as u claim, does dat make u ''all-knowing". Even consultants (fellows) don't know it all. check out the West African college of physicians (WACP) here http://www.wac-physicians.org.......internal medicine, family medicine, community medicine, n paediatrics make up d college. Mayflowa:I have not accepted any limitation. I still maintain that u quote Wikipedia at ur own peril. I was only educating you that though the words are used interchangeably here in Nigeria, there is a difference. Physicians in real sense are specially trained doctors (post MBBS) in internal medicine. I don't know what you studied nor which school you graduated from but you should open ur mind to new ideas or stuff u thought u knew. It will help you add knowledge. |
Mayflowa:For you to quote Wikipedia for me lol, you really have work to do...pls read books and ask questions. Don't ever make d mistake of quoting Wikipedia in any academic environment. Though physicians and medical practitioner can be used interchangeably especially in Nigeria n USA, u can't even do that in Australia and new Zealand. Physicians are experts in internal medicine.. |

Omonoba1:Lol at MBBS, a typical Nigerian...jst ask around coz I can see u don't know how to Google.. All Physicians are Specialists, yet not all Specialists are Physicians. A layman knows all doctors as physicians bt there are physician specialists. |
thorpido:In a sane environment where things are working you can only buy over the counter (OTC) medicines (without a prescription) . But you must present a prescription for you to get POM (prescription only medicines) whoever you are; layman or doctor. And a doctor cannot prescribe for himself (it is an offense) so he has to see another doctor to get a prescription. Note that all antibiotics (e.g ampiclox, Amoxil, cipronol etc) are POMs but in Nigeria you can even buy ampiclox in a hold up in Oshodi or from a market woman selling in the market. |
Mayflowa:Lol. You are indeed a layman. Not all doctors are physicians. Physicians are specialists just like gynaecologists and others. |
AnonyNymous:Lol...u don't understand how the health system works and its legal implications (medico-legal). A doctor can buy over the counter (OTC) medicines for minor illness. However, for illness that requires a prescription, the ill doctor (now a patient) needs to see another doctor for examination (and prescription) as he/she cannot prescribe for himself/herself (self prescription is a serious offense). Also the judgement (and mental alertness) of a sick doctor may be compromised which could affect his decision making process leading to wrong diagnosis and inappropriate treatment/prescription. |

CallMeNJay:I guarantee you, a first class graduate from A.B.U is a first class anywhere in the world. Quote me anywhere. I know what I went through to make 4.52 seven years ago.The best graduating student had 4.60. We both proceeded to Unilag for MSc (in different depts), he got 5.0 out of 5.0 and proceeded to UK for PhD (of course you know they won't allow him come back). I got 4.8/5.0 in Unilag, went to USA for another MSc and got 4.0/4.0. before returning here to work ( i don't want a PhD for now). In Unilag we both got that their scholarship (Trainee Assistant, TA). Mind you there were other first class and 2.1s too that went for the interview for the TA award. My friend made 4.6 in Physics (A.B.U), went to Canada and made 3.89/4, got Cambridge scholarship for phD, afterwhich they retained him there. Another friend from chemical engineering, got 4.2/5.0, went to MIT for masters (on scholarship), came top of his class n got a studentship for phD. He is now working with an oil n gas firm in the US as a manager. The very guy that encouraged me not to give up also made first class, breaking a record of 14yrs of no first class in his course. He went to UI for MSc n got 4.8/5.0. He is in UCL now on PhD scholarship. These are real facts. I respect any first class from A.B.U. When the Senate decides to single one person out of the many potential first class students, then that person must really be good. |
This doesn't happen in A.B.U Zaria. Once u pay ur school fees n accommodation fees (all online), u select ur hostel n room of choice online, print it n take it to the porters for endorsement. The hostels are opened on the 1st day of resumption and students are allowed to even stay in their former rooms to enable them complete the payment process, even though you can pay anywhere in the country in the comfort of ur home and even pick a room before making ur journey to campus. You have the opportunity to pair with ur friends if u like. There are rooms for 1, 2, 4, or 6 occupants depending on ur level and the hostel. You don't need to know anybody to get a space, it's on first Come first serve basis. Once you pay ur fees early when the rooms are available and u select one, u are good to go..... |

My elder brother who dropped out frm SS1 (he is 37yrs old now) received sense several yrs after our dad had passed away and accepted to return to school. He was already married with two kids. In 2012 he enrolled in a private lesson, registered for GCE and made 9 credits. He wrote JAMB and got admission to study BSc Biochemistry. He is in 400L now (rounding off very soon with a 4 point Something cgpa). I have convinced him to go for MSc soon after graduation and then PhD (he is interested in lecturing) and he is excited about it. I am his third young bro. and I graduated at 23yrs in 2009 with a distinction. My younger sister (next to me) finished in 2012 in a 5yr course. These made him (my elder bro.) very discouraged and he felt he was too old but we encouraged him that age was just a number.....today u need to hear him speak about passion, determination and goal setting.... Just don't let age be ur limiting factor.. 24 is not even old..... |
G007:Throway passports? Lol. U will always need it..... As a new employee, for int'l passport, for health insurance policies/purposes, house rent agreement, marriage registration (in court) etc. |
