I'm in the 13th month on my current job. Done two performance appraisals and my office doesn't have copies of my certificates. They just took my CV and that's it.
Even during the interview process, no one mentioned anything about my certificates. It was entirely demonstrations of skills, competences, problem solving, blah blah blah...
Last time I opened the file containing my certificates, I was angry that no one wants to know what certificates I've got.

You think so? Most times you can't even apply for that job if you don't have the papers. Yes, the company might not ask you but they know you have it. They have studied ur CV which says you have it and they know you are not lying. I wasn't asked for any paper as well, but I got to know later that they contacted my institution (during their background check).

Landmark expelled my friend this just concluded semester for taking a device (iPod) into the exam hall. He didn’t cheat with the device and He assured them to double check with his script.
They called him for a defence panel and the verdict has been dispatched- EXPELLED.
What can he do please.
Anyone with similar experience(s). Please useful information will be very much appreciated.
Is it possible to revoke this verdict? Can it be appealed and what is the chance that he will win: is there anyone he could speak to or something. We don’t mind punishment for taking the device into the exam hall but expelling is a capital punishment and He didn’t even cheat with the device.
Please help save a young man from sliding into possible tension and depression!

Why did he take a device to exam hall? When he knew dat electronic devices are banned from exam hall. If he knows any influential person; a king, a lecturer or staff of the institution who can help him beg the authorities, they might consider his appeal.

Deeper life members take 'holiness & righteousness' to the extreme that it makes them completely unreasonable. They are extremists.

Working or living with them can be very frustrating. They always remind you that you are a sinner and bound for hell (with their actions) just because you don't share their extreme beliefs. They may not tell you to your face, but hey actions speak louder than words.

Majority of them don't even understand what holiness means. They believe holiness is defined by not making hair, wearing big big skirts or trousers, not wearing earing etc. Once you do these things you are holy!.... If you are not their member, you are condemned already and you are on your way to hell....When we lost our dad, na other denominations come d help us, these wicked holier than thou people will preach holiness but don't know how to demonstrate it. How can you be holy when you don't love? How can you love when you don't demonstrate it? A true Christian must behave like Jesus; demonstrate LOVE....for God and his neighbour.

Stop writing rubbish....I lived with one deeper lifer (a colleague) who claimed to be more holy than Jesus christ but was very stingy, wicked, and useless....bring money for fuel, No! bring money for food, no! These are canalities according to him.. I will use my money and buy foodstuff for d house, he will use his dirty mouth and eat everything and then fold his arms; always claiming they have not paid dem, las las he borrowed 30k from me and refused to pay....I had to leave the house for him.

What a waste! I got into the Nigerian university system (UniLag precisely) as Assistant Lecturer at a young age, I was excited to have gotten the opportunity to follow my passion but just a few months into it, I discovered that the earlier I left the better for me....So I 'jejely' packed my load and left.....I cannot come and waste my future doing useless research works only for d sake of promotion....
You will see a yeye professor raising shoulders, failing students and shouting that he/she is an authority in that field, go online and check his/her h-index....it will read 'capital zero'...Nonsense paper publications in nonsense (non-index) journals.

The two are not comparable even if the Private Firm salary is higher. Fed. Govt job remains the best, even better than most Multinational company jobs, except you are looking at a career path you want to pursue.

Apart from the juicy agencies like CBN, NCC, NNPC, NIMASA etc. all the others na wash......as an assistant lecturer in a fed university, my salary was 115k, na me carry my leg run enter private...no be all private dey bad; higher salary, more bonuses, more training opportunities, faster growth etc.

there are many pple who could secure a job in due time. If the job was her reason to marry him then the marriage don crash. Not everyone is business inclined too. Truth is life has no manual. U can marry a well to do man and the marriage crashes while another marries a jobless man and the marriage works.

To every theory there are always a few exceptions....even to the law of gravity there are exceptions...that's why in research you have d plus or minus say 2% or 5% margin for error....what you stated just falls within d error margin i.e those few cases are rare..The simple message is for our ladies to look critically before they leap....Just like you said, some ppl will tell you they are not business inclined, some will say they cannot do this or that and they remain jobless for ten years, that is an error i.e they are jobless both mentally and physically..No able-bodied male graduate should stay idle for ten years unless your education was worthless or the person is under a spell/curse. After 2 or 3 years, think of an alternative, think of a way out, will I continue saying I am not business inclined and remain jobless for ten years? Think of a skill....a graduate must think differently! After 2 years of NYSC, my cousin learnt photography on youtube and started small, even doing it for free sometimes just to market himself. Today, he is well established. He is married, has a car and got another for his wife as birthday gift...A graduate should not stay idle for many years waiting for bank job...education is the key to the door of many opportunities.
Yes life has no manual, some ppl succeed without education so I guess there is no need to enrol kids in school. There are general principles in life that work for majority of d ppl (with just a few exceptions like I said earlier).......There is always something to learn from the elders, sometimes we may not agree with them or we may consider what they are saying as obsolete but it doesn't mean they are not saying the truth or the reality.

Realistically, it is easier for a single person to hustle for a job than a married person. You can go anywhere, work anywhere, anyhow, anytime...which is not so when you are married. Even the job I do now, it is not every project that I am interested in...coz of family!

A man who wants to marry must have something doing no matter how small....My friend lost his job with Chevron 1 yr after marriage and he joined Uber.....In 2003 ASUU had issues in ABU and were owed salaries for almost 12 months, my popsi turned to farming (rice and beans) and yam business to take care of his family; he would go to Benue to buy yams and take it to Zaria/Kaduna/Lagos and sell...Adeboye is over 70 years and he is much qualified to advice the youth based on experience..he must have seen practical evidences/situations that warrant such advice (in order to help someone out there)...Moreso he has been married for many years with no issue of divorce, if the youth listen to the words of wisdom from elders they would fare much better!

The problem with the youth nowadays is that everybody wants to hit it big, no one wants to start small and so some ppl have chosen to remain jobless for many years waiting for that mega job....I have a friend who graduated with firstclass in Physics and got scholarship for masters overseas. He came back and couldn't secure a job so after 6months he started home lessons, jamb tutorials, waec/neco lessons, and undergrad tutorials..he did this for three years and got married with it before he got a lecturing job...

Bros it will surprise you to know that some of these project writers work hand-in-hand with some professors/lecturers. A professor frustrated my cousin until she had no choice than to patronize them. Her fellow coallegues under d same supervisor were not having any issues at all, so when she asked them how they were doing it they gave her a number of the 'project writer' who was linked to the professor i.e the professor himself will recommend him to you and if you think otherwise, you don dig ur grave be dat!
