PoliticsRe: Buhari's Hand Over Letter In February Vs Buhari's Hand Over Letter In May. by AlphaT1(m): 11:59pm On May 09, 2017
dragonking2:
If there was no difference why did buhari change it to coordinate? Why didn't he continue with the word "act on my behalf "?
I don't jst know why Nigeria is full of zombies everywhere. The letter reads clearly; in compliance with section 145 (1) of the 1999 constitution......have you bothered to check out what this portion of the constitution say.
......145(1) states:
Whenever the President transmits to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives a written declaration that he is proceeding on vacation or that he is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office, until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary such functions shall be discharged by the Vice-President as Acting President.
........irrespective of whether he mentions VP or not, or uses the word coordinator or supervisor or acting etc. once he transmits a letter to the Speaker of the Senate and House of Rep. the VP automatically assumes the acting position.
PoliticsRe: Meaning Of Acting President VS Coordinating President by AlphaT1(m): 11:42pm On May 09, 2017
TonyeBarcanista:
By making Osinbajo the coordinator, Buhari simply mean "I'm still in charge but VP will coordinate things for me".

I recall back in 2010 January, AGF Michael Aaondoka said the VP is "overseeing the government and it was unnecessary to make him acting President".

This is exactly what Buhari letter is saying and Saraki is aware.

Let me add that another implication is that the VP won't assume all powers of the President (in practice) as he would have if he had been elevated to acting President.

The trick however is that the loyalty of Osinbajo has been put to test. If he attempts going above the line, the cabal will Bring Back Buhari and the doctors and Osinbajo will be "put in his place".

I will say the Senate pass a doctrine of necessity to empower VP to be Acting President.
What is this one saying? Indeed, there was a country full of sick illiterates...the letter clearly states; in compliance with section 145 (1) of the 1999 constitution (as amended)..... Now if you are not a zombie, what does the section 145(1) say? Mitchew!

PoliticsRe: Top 10 Contenders For The Presidency In 2019 If President Buhari Fails To Run by AlphaT1(m): 8:35pm On May 05, 2017
[quote author=TonyeBarcanista post=56243475]Fat Lie!

The north never supported Obasanjo TWICE, they only supported him ONCE and that was when he contested against his fellow Yorubaman, Olu Falae in 1999 who ran under APP-AD joint platform.

In 2003 the north supported Muhammadu Buhari of APP. Buhari won the NW and NE but lost the NC and other regions. He garnered 12 million votes.

In 2007 it was all northern affair in all parties, as PDP, ANPP, AC and DPP all fielded northern candidates, that is Yaradua, Buhari, Atiku and Bafarawa. As such the northern votes splitted between Yaradua and Buhari.

In 2011, Jonathan only won Taraba (Buhari has never won here) and Adamawa in the Northeast and Northwest. Buhari cleared the rest... But as usual, lost NC and other parts of the country.

In 2015, the NC and SW that have always voted against Buhari voted for him in protest against Jonathan... He won... But as usual the Northeast and Northwest voted for Buhari.

The point is that the north (NE and NW) has NEVER voted for ANY southern candidate against their own since 1979 save 1993 when the elite still annulled the election.

Let us not tribalise it nor play on anybody's intelligence.

As for PYO, we all know who call the shots in the Presidency and PYO is not among the group.

One of the 'saints' appointed by Buhari...
Karma is just making mockery of Buhari...
Everything he said or did, ranging from media castigation against the then incumbent President GEJ,to his one sided appointments, have all Boomeranged on Him and his government.
APC has not been able to improve on any single aspect of the PDP led Government, rather everything has gone from bad to worse,be it economy, fuel price, power supply, security, value of our local currency, price of commodities,etc... The list is endless.
I am neither a supporter of APC nor PDP but I think it was so great to see an incumbent govt defeated. It shows our democracy is growing, our leaders were so reckless, proud, insultive, arrogant etc coz they felt come what may, an incumbent cannot be defeated. The defeat sent a signal to all of them (PDP, APC, or whatever name they call themselves).
RomanceRe: Why Do Many Nigerian Men Woo Ladies Using English? by AlphaT1(m): 11:07pm On May 02, 2017
fratermathy:
I was on my own "jejely" trying to buy kebab, popularly known as "suya" in Nigeria, and thinking of how best to spice my dinner, when one young man just breezed in from nowhere and with a peculiar accent, uttered "Why does you let my heart broke like this" grin grin. I turned to the person that shot me at the back with missiles of words and found him well dressed and obviously talking to his girlfriend or "toastee". He also stopped by for kebab.

I thought I had heard it all but he shot another missile by saying "Sweet-sweet, talked to me naa. What has I done wrong?"

I couldn't get angry, neither could I laugh. In fact, I reflected deeply on the situation and tried to absolve him from blame. I placed the blame on his teachers (assuming he is educated), as well as the bad educational standards in Nigeria.

Later on, I started thinking and came to the realisation that almost all Nigerian men, whether educated or not, woo girls in "Queens English". It is rare to see a Nigerian man woo a lady in Pidgin or in any of the local languages. This is true, at least, in my experience and based on what I have observed so far. Although I must acknowledge that there are a few exceptions. So my question then is this: what is actually wrong in wooing a lady in the language you are most comfortable with, especially those who speak English only as a second language?

I couldn't come up with a clear answer because even in cities, towns and villages where everyone speaks the same language, you observe this trend as well. So there is no justification on the grounds of communication. What then could be the reason behind this recourse to English when wooing ladies? Is it just a standard? If it is, who started it? Why do those who are not competent in the English language try to force themselves to speak it when wooing ladies? Even ladies that are not competent in English force themselves to speak it, just to appear modern and acceptable. What happened to our native Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Urhobo/Isoko, Pidgin, Efik, etc, when communicating with those of the opposite gender that we develop romantic proclivities for?

I need some responses to further enlighten me on this issue. Let us all discuss.

Cut your cloth accordingly. You must not have a wedding that will be featured in a newspaper. You must not have a wedding better than your friends own.

Do what you have to do with what you have. Everything depends on the bride and groom. If they share the same mindset, all these unnecessary expenses will be cut off.

Wedding is one day, marriage is forever.

If you really want to go big, either have a truckload of money or wait till your fifth anniversary.
My dear most guys want to really cut their cloths according to their sizes bt the ladies most times don't help matters. I personally wanted to do only dowry payment and then Sunday blessing in d church, bt d lady wouldn't accept that.

you are right. But some rush into relationships they regret later all in the name of "I don't want to play hard", " I don't want to waste time". How many frogs should a lady kiss before kissing prince charming? Definitely no appropriate answer to that question but a lady's mouth shouldn't be soiled with frogs' saliva before prince charming comes. I think every lady should take as long as she wants so far she won't regret. Moreover entering into a relationship base on attraction alone is dangerous, some fades away with time. Compatibility and Love should be the basis for a relationship. smiley
Like I said be watchful and sensitive...... It is not how short or how long you take to accept someone that guarantees your compatibility.... You may take as long time as you want before accepting him and still end up shattered. You may still rush to accept him and end up battered... "watchful and sensitive" are the words!

To the sensible ladies it's not " playing hard to get" but " looking before leaping". You guys get it all mixed up, Not every lady who place you on hold is toying with you. Some are just being careful, and that is a sane thing to do smiley
Most times they (ladies) overdo it, miscalculate and end up losing a good guy! When I was looking for a wife to marry, dis particular lady kept "dribbling" me for 4 months, of course I left her and went hunting somewhere else and luckily enough for me I caught a big fish within no time, the "dribbler" lady then came with full love of 120% when it was already too late for her...timing is very very important. Always be watchful and sensitive ladies!

FamilyRe: My Husband Called Me A Vagabond by AlphaT1(m): 8:38pm On Mar 27, 2017
Truelies2017:
You all have spoken well. And yes the story isn't complete. But I didn't bother breaking it down cause I feel there is still no reason whatsoever to annoy you to the point of calling me a vagabond. It killed the love I have for him instantly at that moment. The fact an a wife makes my husband talk to me anyhow. If I made a mistake by calling him back a vagabond (I wouldn't have being able to call him that cause that word is just too heavy) but if I did. He would have called me a disrespectful wife. He is the kind of man who believes you must hold him in high esteem and with all manly respect, don't talk while am talking kind of man, the kind of man who wants you to give him a fatherly kind of respect. The kind of man who wouldnt talk to you for more than a day if you wake up in the morning forgetting to say goodmorning, the kind of man who doesn't believe a woman deserve to be respected, (hubby, if you see this correct me if am wrong) But how do you treat me?. Do i I have issues with his mum. Well that's personal, and i dont but he thinks i do. But was it because I refused to go check out the land with them he called me a vagabond? NO. He called me that because I didn't tell him his mum said she would be going to check out the land with us. I thought it was a decision they both made. So I decided I wasn't gonna interfere, and since it's not.like I have any money of my own yet to acquire a land, let him and his mum who really needs it more than I do go together. However I don't want to be there while she is making land decisions for her other kids. so his annoyance was why did i conclude that he asked his mum to go and check out the land with us and not discuss it with him first. That was what led to the name calling, but shpuld it warrant vagabond, calling me a FOOL almost 10times and topped it with vagabond. I can't deal. Too much for me. Dear hubby, if it happens you eventually find this post. I am not happy I was called that. That am smiling with you is because if i don't let go of grudge it's me that will still suffer but every time I i remember being called a vagabond. All I feel like doing is keeping to myself and not talking to you again you didn't kill my self esteem in anyway cause no man has the right to do that. But you have given me something to live with for a longgg time. No one has ever ever called me the kind of names you use on me many times you are angry not even my strict dad, and my keeping quiet is just because i don want you to call me a disrespectful wife again. Piece of my mind. A man, father and husband should live the life and say the kind of words you would want to hear your daughter's husband's say in future. I respect you and will always do but if I don't let you know how i feel now you will keep calling me names and I don't want. Let's bless each other more while angry than cause. Cause with time it will unconciously be depicted in our ways and we won't remember it was our mouth that caused it.
Young lady go and learn how to respect your husband and his mother, ur story is too one-sided! I can see a sharp mouthed and an ''attitude'' kind of lady here. Try and make dat sharp mouth 'blunt' coz men hate nagging wives... Else very soon he will not only call you vagabond but also hit you... Even if u don't like his mum try and pretend like you do......The man is very wrong no doubt bt check yourself as well, even from dis ur half story, the root cause still points towards you....Dont expect ur partner to change first, be the first to change!
PoliticsRe: Dino Melaye’s Name Missing From ABU Alumni Website-Punch by AlphaT1(m): 11:58am On Mar 26, 2017
adioolayi:
The certificate scandal involving the senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District , Dino Melaye, may be far from over , as his name was not found on the Ahmadu Bello University alumni website, SUNDAY PUNCH reports .

Melaye’ s trouble began on Monday , March 20 , when an online news medium , SaharaReporters, reported that the senator did not graduate from ABU for his first degree .

The senator had claimed that he obtained B . A in Geography from the institution .
Melaye had boasted that he was currently a student in ABU pursuing his seventh degree , adding , “ Go round all the UNIS (universities ) I attended in digging more . ”
A day after the news broke, Melaye , while speaking on the floor of the Senate , also addressed himself as an “authentic graduate” of ABU .

On Saturday, an exhaustive online search conducted by our correspondents – from the 1998 / 1999 alumni set to 2007 – for Melaye’ s name on the website of ABU Alumni Association did not give any result that shows that the embattled lawmaker is a graduate of the school .

His name, Daniel Jonah Melaye, as it appeared on a statement of result by the university , when searched , returned with zero result .

When SUNDAY PUNCH searched for ‘ Daniel, ’ ‘ Jonah ’ and ‘ Melaye ’ separately , different names came up .
A search for ‘ Melaye’ brought up only one result : Melaye Sunday Ola (Biology Education ), who graduated in 1980 .

Another search for ‘ Jonah ’ came up with four different names: Bawa Jonah Seth Besanhi (BSc Geography ; graduated in 1973 ); Birga Jonah (BSc Geography ; graduated in 2007 ); Kaigama Jonah Ishaku (BSc Geography ; graduated in 2011 ); and Ndasala Jonah (BSc Geography ; graduate in 1987 ) .

There were 10 results when ‘ Daniel’ was searched : Abin Daniel John (BSc Geography ; graduated in 1978 ); Adamu Kantsan Daniel (Institute Of Education Geography ; graduated in 1992 ); Aniro Daniel Rabo (BSc Geography ; no graduation date indicated ); Atenji Daniel E . (BSc Geography ; graduated in 1986 ); Beshiru Daniel (BSc Geography ; graduated in 1980 ); Dada Daniel Adefila (BSc Geography ; graduated in 1979 ); Awubra Daniel Akinkwe (Geography ; graduated in 2002 / 2003 ); Daniel Bosede Biddy (BSc Geography graduated in 1983 ); Daniel Dogara Garba (BSc Geography ; graduated in 2010 ); and Daniel Ezra Jatau (BSc Geography ; graduated in 2011 ).

When our correspondent called the ABU Public Relations Officer , Mr . Adamu Mohammed , about 8 pm on Saturday to find out why the senator’ s name was not on the alumni website, his line rang out . On the second trial , the line was switched off .

A text message also sent to his mobile line on the matter had yet to be replied to as of press time .
When SUNDAY PUNCH contacted the President , ABU Alumni Association, Prof . Ahmed Tijanni - Mora , he said only the university could confirm if Melaye graduated from the institution .
He said , “ The registrars of universities are in the best position to provide information about who attended their universities or not . ”

Last week , ABU ’ s spokesman, Mohammed , when contacted by The PUNCH promised that the institution would come out with its position on Wednesday , which it failed to do as of the time of filing this report .
Saturday PUNCH ’ s March 25 edition had obtained a document which revealed that the senator got a statement of result with the logo of ABU .

The statement of result read , “This is to certify that Daniel Jonah Melaye having completed an approved course of study and passed the prescribed examinations as , under the authority of the Senate been awarded the Bachelor of Arts (Geography ) with Third Class honours . ”
The statement , issued by the Office of the Registrar , Academic Office , was dated February 3 , 2000 , and signed by B . B . Mshelthlila .

It was , however , observed that while the statement of result had the name “ Daniel Jonah MELAYE ”, the senator’ s National Youth Service Corps discharge certificate , which was issued on July 8 , 2001 , read “ Melaye Daniel ;” his diploma certificate issued by the University of Jos on August 3 , 2006 read “Daniel Dino Melaye ”, and his Senior School Certificate in 1992 read ‘ Melaiye Daniel Jonah O ’ with Melaye being wrongly spelt .

Similarly , the University of Abuja, which Melaye claimed he had also attended , refused to comment on whether the senator obtained a master ’ s degree from the institution .

The Vice Chancellor of UNIABUJA , Prof . Michael Adikwu , responding to an inquiry by one of our correspondents on Saturday , said , “ Issues of certificates should be directed to the registry . I heard that (allegation against Dino Melaye) also , but I will find out later . ”

Well, you may not be far from the truth when it comes to A.B.U favoring some northerners with regards to admission and graduation, but it's not peculiar to A.B.U nor UniPort only, it is endemic in Nigerian universities. Though ABU may be culpable of d allegations, you can't deny d fact dat ABU has produced some really good products e.g Prof Nok (discoverer of gene for Trypanosomiasis), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Donald Duke, Prof Ayodele Awojobi of Unilag, Prof Isa Hussaini of cancer research at University of Virginia, Solomon Arase former IGP, Nuhu Ribadu, late Yar Adua etc etc
