Exactly my brother....some people just like to be foolishly arrogant. Even the holy book says wisdom is profitable to direct.....i have stayed in a compound where the landlord was adjudged to be wicked by other tenants, but I discovered that he was actually one of the most understanding and kind person I have ever met. Even after I parked from the house and relocated (due to wrk) he still sent me 50k during my wedding...Anytime I come to that town I am free to sleep in his house and eat free food. Life is about give and take and sometimes what you need to give is just simple respect or courtesy and what you get in return is very huge....

Those very wicked kinsmen are very difficult to persuade to bring down the cost of that list to a reasonable level. Only very few families may be reasonable. My friend was given a list of abt 1.8m ( @zone B Benue State). The family refused to reduce the list and rejected most of the items on d day of trads. He had to look somewhere else and God blessed him with a beautiful bride from a beautiful family in South east. He spent only 400k for the list and dowry 2geda and after d trads the father inlaw returned 250k to him to use it and feed his daughter very well. You needed to be there on the day of the white wedding to see the collection of gifts presented by the bride's family; everything you need to start a decent home was there: curtains, generator, TV, sofa, mattress, A.C, dvd, home theatre, fridge, deep freezer, standing fan, wall clock, kitchen wares etc. My friend didn't know when tears started rolling down his cheeks!

Do you have idea of the cost of a mini vessel (a small ship)? Some govt workers are legitimate owners of big ships, not mini ships! Ask any importer or ship owner the cost of hiring a ship per day....

Na na na, never supported him na. If you read my submission I made it clear that thalasaemia and HbSS are two different disease entities even though they are both forms of SCD and the way to diagnose them are different as well.

But if you look at what the Op said about the SS determined by electrophoresis, I think he made it clear it was not the real SS and that was why I brought the issue of quantitative analysis, because someone may be labelled SS not knowing that there may be a missing Hb chain.

And I also think the Op's topic is misleading.

It is also important to note that although Sβ-Thalasaemia and Hb SS are both forms of Sickle cell disease, they are completely two different disease conditions with far-reaching impact on the person suffering from them.

While Hb SS is as a result of defect in the quality of haemoglobin, Sβ-thalasaemia is as a result of the quantity of haemoglobins present and to diagnose this one needs quantitative analysis of the haemoglobin chains whereas qualitative analysis is enough to diagnose SS which electrophoresis does.

1. let me differentiate between haemoglobin genotype and haemoglobin phenotype
To get a particular GENOTYPE you have to do a genetic testing or use two or more of the screening test (the conventional electrophoresis that we do + HPLC or other similar test) to confirm the true genotype while hb PHENOTYPE is the appearance /characteristics of an individual haemoglobin on conventional electrophoresis which we loosely refer to as GENOTYPE
Most times when we call ourselves AA,SS,AS we are actually referring to our Haemoglogin PHENOTYPE and NOT GENOTYPE, as most of us don’t do genetic tests, all we do is haemoglobin electrophoresis
2. lets explain the concept of thalasemic trait. Thalassemias are quantitative defect of haemoglobin which means some one can be AA but the one or both A in this person is is absent otherwise known as thalassemia minor and major respectively. If such person run haemoglobin Electrophoresis( the test that we always loosely regard to as genotype) only A band will be seen and such a person will be regarded as AA. But they are also prone to anaemias and some certain abnormal features in the blood depending on the degree in the reduction in the defective A . such individuals can be Aβ-Thalassaemia(otherwise known as thalassaemic trait) if one of the’ A gene’ is normal, or β-Thalassaemia major if both are affected
3. lets merge the two concepts above and form AND SEE THE DIFFERENT PHENOTYPE THAT EXIST AND THE POSSIBLE CORRESPONDING GENOTYPE
If PHENOTYPE is AA the likely GENOTYPES will be AA , Aβ-Thalassaemia
If PHENOTYPE is SS the likely GENOTYPES will be SS, Sβ-Thalassaemia (MEANING THE OTHER ‘A’ THAT WOULD HAVE MADE THIS AN ‘AS’ IS TOTALLY ABSENT) Others might include SD,SG etc though these are very rare
If PHENOTYPE is AS the likely GENOTYPES will be SA (NOTE – ‘S’ COMES BEFORE ‘A’ BECAUSE THE A IS THALASSAEMIC, THOUGH NOT TOTALLY ABSENT AS THE ONE ABOVE ,IT IS SUSBSTANTIALLY REDUCE), or truely AS
4. Lets assume this our hypothetical couple have Hb eleterophoresis done and was told that the genotype of partner 1 is AA, and that of partner 2 is AS ,but the one that is called AA is actually Aβ-Thalassaemia as ealier mentioned. There possible offspring include
I. AA, If the child inherit the normal A from partner 1 and another normal A from partner 2
II. Aβ-Thalassaemia ,If the child inherit β-Thalassaemic A from the partner 1 and normal A from partner 2
III. AS,If the child inherit normal A from partner 1 and S from patner 2
IV. Sβ-Thalassaemia If the child inherit β-Thalassaemic A from partner 1 and S from partner 2
Note that scenario I above will show AA on Hb electrophoresis, scenario ii will show AA on electrophoresis, scenario iii will show AS on electrophoresis and scenario iv will show SS on electrophoresis

Your assertions may not be completely true. I started well in 100L (CGPA of 4.7) but crashed to 4.1 in 200L due to a very terrible and traumatic experience ; I was coming from the hospital to write exams. And altogether, from 300L to 500L (6 semesters) I had about three 5 points, only one C and about 7 Bs, my CGPA climbed gradually to 4.56.
So according to your theory above, I am not a true first lass candidate. Well, I went to Unilag for MSc and got a 4.8 CGPA (top of the class) and was given an academic position which I did for a few months and left to USA for another M.S and got 4/4... Two of my course mates in Unilag also came with first class results (4.72 and 4.89) but at the end of the programme, only one got 4.58 (d one with 4.89), d other one got 4.38.
In a nutshell, CGPA is not a true measure of which first class is true or not nor who has a better IQ.

Yea. You are right about Kia. I was referring to Toyota products. My wife uses 2016 Hyundai Tucson and it consumes exactly 8.7L/100km. I think Kia and Hyundai SUVs have bad fuel economy.

Recent SUVs don't consume fuel that much. I use a 2014 model which has a better fuel economy than my 2007 Toyota camry XLE dat i had used in d past.

Yea, I know exam leave stands alone as a form of leave, I wanted to make it simple for the lady who's arguing what she doesn't know. I even stated the 1 to 7 days casual leave max. approval, she is still arguing.

That's why I am educating you on what you didn't know before, for you to learn. There are several forms of casual leave and exams leave is one of them. I am a civil servant and a head of unit. I did not only approve for my subordinates, I have taken it myself in the past. If today were a working day, I would have snapped it from the Federal civil service gazette (conditions of service) and posted it here. There are so many things employees (civil servants) don't know unless you get to a certain senior grade level, where you have access to materials/resources that would guide you.
Two of my subordinates are currently studying on part-time.
Most employees don't even have the conditions of service, some don't even know their job schedule very well, some take certain decisions based on misleading information they get from their colleagues or elsewhere, some are not even trainined since they were employed.
I try as much as I can to guide my subordinates rightly, because in civil service, you may be doing the wrong thing repeatedly out of ignorance and no one would care but the day they want to witch-hunt somebody, you would be the victim.

You are wrong. There's Exam Leave (Casual leave) in the civil service gazette mostly applicable to part-time candidates. You may have a study leave for a weekend program (part-time) but exams may not only be on weekends, in which case you would need a casual leave of 1 to 7 days to go take your exams. You discuss it with your superior before writing, for speedy approval.
