MasterJayJay: She is their new queen. She and Kemi Olunlonyo seem to have something in common.
See Uju attacking Igbo men. Whenever someone attacks his/her own tribe, that's a sign of insanity.
A professor that doesn't know the difference between constitutional monarchy and absolute monarchy. Britain practices constitutional monarchy, which is only ceremonial. It's sheer ignorance to blame a Queen that has no executive power.
Some clowns were shouting "I wish they bring back History back to our schools".
The question is: Will you also accept that your ancestors kidnapped people and sold them to white men?
Some people only want to learn history of what others inflicted on their ancestors but don't want to learn the evil their own ancestors did to others. Word! All these random and uncordinated tweets by Uju where meant to draw attention to herself! Her gullible new followers (mainly of Ibo ancestry who never knew her narcisistic character before Queen Elizabeth passed on), where hailing her. Her tweets about Queen Elizabeth were clearly false and defamatory, hence it shows Uju has no deep knowledge of the events leading up to the Nigerian Civil War. I have screen shots attached on rebel attrocities against non-Ibos below. Even several Onitsha indigenes were brutally victimised by the secessionist rebels under Lt. Col. Ojukwu (rtd) and many were imprisoned and died. The lawyer, Mr. Olisa Agbakogba and his older brother were imprisoned along with their Onitsha kinsmen and then against international war conventions, they were given guns and taken to the war front to fight in a senseless war that was triggered by the Ibos led by the boastful Ojukwu to prevent the over 5 million non-Ibos in the defunct Old Eastern Region from having their own 2 States which were created on May 27, 1967 by Gowon. 99.9 percent of these non-Ibo folks from the Ijaws, Efiks, Ibibios, Annangs, Ogonis, etc, NEVER wanted to be part of the secession from Nigeria or fraud called biafra. In tweets made in 2020 and August 2022, this same Uju who claims to be a Prof. of Linguistics, misused the harmless Yoruba word and metaphor called Akata, and falsely claimed it to be what it is not! Her tweet was intended to gain cheap fame and trigger hatred by African-Americans towards Yorubas in the U.S. and worldwide, but she and her cohorts will never succeed because Yoruba bloodlines exists among African-Americans due to the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Akata is the Yoruba word for a Panther and NOT an ethnic slur. Metaphorically Akata simply refers to any Black person who lives in UK, U.S.A, Canada and has become Westernised. The word is a prestigious urban lingo that even Yorubas use for themselves for decades now to describe Westernised (in terms of accents, manners and dressing) Yorubas who lived or schooled abroad, and the word Akata is NOT an ethnic slur refering to African-Americans as wild animals. The metaphorical opposite of Akata is the word Ologbo (which means a domestic cat or house cat) but it is used metaphorically to refer to Continental Africans living in Africa. That is the way the Yorubas use the Akata and Ologbo words as metaphors. Many African and non-African ethnic groups use metaphors and proverbs in basic and advanced speech!

Tzar: I totally agree with the man plundering man part. But totally disagree with your position that Africa should forgive & FORGET the EVIL the British monarcy and empire did & is still doing to Africa. As long as the OPPRESSOR claims the right to plunder by might, the OPPRESSED have a right not to forgive by hate. If Africa is not given restitution for the evil done to her she ought not to forgive. Argentines still hate the British for the Falklands War til date, why can’t Africans?! The ONLY tragedy here is that, unlike how America, India, and Hong Kong rose out of the British oppression strong, African leaders have replaced the British as the oppressors and plunderers of its people. I have an inclination to think that SLAVERY did something mentally to ALL Africans and this mental debasement has been passed from generation to generation becoming genetically programmed. How else can anyone do what Africa is doing to herself on a continental scale in spite of the vast human and material resources at her disposal?! @Tzar, The racist Argentines engaged in the systematic oppression and elimination of people of African decent over the years. Today you would think that Africans were never brought to that country in large numbers like in Brazil. I witnessed the events leading right up to the Falkland Islands invasion in the 1980s. The British have as much right to claim the Falklands. The ancestors of the Argentines also migrated from mainly Italy and later Germany. Hong Kong was NEVER oppressed by the British. For those of us who were old enough when the British 100-year lease of HK from China ended, some Hong Kong citizens were worried and migrated to the U.K. because of fears over Chinese rule. Even in America the many Native-American tribes and enslaved Africans were the real people who were oppressed in America. The British colonists originally settled in the Eastern part of the original American colony and the British influence extended deeply into Canada.India, yes there was oppression over issues such as salt mining rights which brought Mahatma Gandhi to prominence. The Indian Sub-Continent quickly got independence after World War II.

shadeyinka: The several hundred dialects of Yoruba actually prove that they had been on ground well before an external unifying force came to preside over several communities.
Now, historically, not all Yoruba communities have any link with Oduduwa; an example is the Yagba (kabba) in Kogi state.
It may be important to also trace the link between the Igalas and the Yoruba's as they share some of their ancient names.
Example: Igala (Akogwu) AND Yoruba (Akogun) Both meaning the same thing: warrior |

Olu317: Let others who know answer some of the questions.
Was there any Ọlọ́yọ́ before Ọ̀rànmìyàn ? No, there were none to be precise. However, empe (Nupe) were not too far from the earliest settlement to the place where Ọ̀rànmìyàn settled down.
History has it that Ọ̀rànmìyàn was said to be on vengeance to a people who fought against his ancestors through to Mali region but he , and his older cousin Olówu as that period and warriors princes abandoned the movement which led to his establishment of Ẹyọ.
Thereafter, the Empe people and their overlord decided to fight against these Yoruba elements where he Ọ̀rànmìyan and his co princes as earlier mentioned defeated the Empe people ,where there was a pact signed between the Yoruba and the Empe.
This led to the birth of Itiolú known as Ṣàngó through the daughter of king of Empe. Ṣàngó was an adopted Alias by Itiólú who reigned after Dada AJaka(Ajàsa).
Dada Ajàsa(Ajàka) was the first crown king after Ọ̀rànmìyàn went back to Iléifẹ. Ọlọ́yọ́ Dada was able to trap the thunderstorms power used by Itiólú. Unfortuntely he was not loved because he preferred diplomatic solution to problem than warring. A peace loving King which he pursued till death at a ripe old age as a king who ruled twice.
During his first rule,he was abducted by Owu warriors but was later released and commanded to pay tributary to Owu. This was the reason he was called a weakling and was told to vacate the seat of authority which he did without much challenges, which ushered in Itiólú alias Ṣàngó. Thanks for the deep insights on Sango's maternal Nupe (Tapa) origins which must be from Northern Kwara.

Olu317: Okay,I got your point but Gahà was not an ibariba man. Ibariba do not speak Yoruba language talkless of becoming Báṣọ̀rún.
The title of Báṣọ̀rún itself is a very high positon in Yoruba land. Infact, the position anciently is second in command to kings in Yoruba land, despite the fact that such personality cannot be king due to strict royalty bloodline to thrones in ancient times.
Plainly there are misinformation here and there on Yoruba history due to some erroneously egocentrism from some quarters. Anyway,Yoruba history is not hidden even if some people try to mislead the public. The infamous U.S.-based Farooq Kperogi is of Bariba ethnicity. His home town is Okuta and there is an Ilesa in the Bariba-speaking part of Kwara. Parts of Bariba were conquered and incorporated into the Oyo Empire, so some of them would have learned to speak some Yoruba. |

Olu317: The original ileife history is quite different from what many writers wrote about which support the fact that odua ancestors were also involved in the affairs of the Elus.
The account of previous rulers had nothing to do with odua era because there were seven Elus and six ifẹs when Odua was chosen to be a unified king even with the challenge therein. He eventually becamethefirst unifying Oni(owner)ifẹ.
These seven Elus and six ifẹs were the settlement which became unified under a supreme overlord known as odua from Eri Ogun(human), the owner of Arẹ crown. This is the reason Oni wears Arẹ crown once a year to venerate Ogún, the irùnmọlẹ̀ on the day, light appear to light the world through his path.
This man was part of Odua ancestors whose name is among the oldest name in the ancient settlement in Ileife whose son, odua eventually became the crowned the king of all kings.
It is to be stated here that Obaluru is over all king of all Oramfe descendants wherever they are in the world, even Obamakin descendants such as Olugbo must honour Obaluru as their supreme king.
Here below were the settlement during the era of odua: IFE MEFA...were: 1. Obalufe. 2. Obajio. 3. Obaloran. 4. Obadio 5. Lokore. 6. Apata.
B. ELU MEJE..were: 1. Obaluru. 2. Obalesun 3. Ompetu. 4. Obawara. 5. Obalaaye. 6. Obalejugbe. 7. Fegun

Explorers: The Crown of Scotland was placed on Her Majesty's coffin in Edinburgh's St Giles Cathedral as her son King Charles and his siblings watched on.
The sombre moment was part of the service in the heart of the Scottish capital this afternoon.
Made from gold, silver and precious gems, the crown is the centrepiece of the Honours of Scotland which are the oldest Crown jewels in Britain and among the oldest in Europe.
The crown was made in its current form in 1540 for King James V of Scotland.
In its earliest form, the crown dates back to 1503, when it was depicted being worn by King James IV.
The Queen had herself held the crown in the same church, St Giles' Kirk just after her coronation.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11204077/The-500-year-old-Crown-Scotland-placed-Majestys-coffin.html?ito=social-facebook That's an awesome aspect of medieval history! Oduduwa's beaded crown which he wore is about 800 years and is still in existence. The pictures of his crown can be found on NL and elsewhere online. It is only displayed on special occassions by the Palace in Ife. Oduduwa was the founder of the 3rd Ruling Dynasty in Ife, according to Ooni Enitan Ogunwusi in published interviews. There were many rulers and folks in Ife and other parts of Yorubaland before Odua came from his ancestral area in today's Ondo State to Ife.

Crime › Re: See How 2 Undergraduates Murdered A US Based Lady. by AlphaTaikun: 3:10am On Sep 14, 2022 |
edgecution: TWO undergraduates of the Ebonyi State University, 26-year-old James Okoh and Victor Uchenna Okefie, 27, are now cooling their heels in the cold embrace of the of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, AKS, where they are being interrogated, following their arrest by the Enugu State Police Command.
Okoh and Okefie, who had been at large, allegedly conspired to murder, Mrs. Stella Uhuo, a US-based lady who was visiting home on vacation.
Prior to the dastardly act Ohuo had been a benefactor to Okoh, a final year Sociology student of the university, who hails from Amata in Afikpo North Local Government Area, Ebonyi State. She asked members of her family to come to the airport to receive her.
She was said to have intimated Okoh about her planned visit and requested him to come to the airport so that he could take her to Abakaliki to deliver some luggage given to her by some friends in the United States for onward delivery to their families.
On the fateful day, November 14, 2015, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nwodibo Ekechukwu, told Sunday Sun reporter that the family of the deceased joyfully turned out at the airport to receive her. Okoh also came with his friend in a Volvo car.
Her personal luggage were put in the car brought by family, while the ones she wanted to take to Abakaliki were loaded into the boot of the Volvo car with registration number Lagos EKY 855 CY. After the exchange of pleasantries, the family left while Ohuo, Okoh and Okefie headed to Abakaliki. The time was about 10.00am.
Okefie sat at the back of the car while Okoh drove with Ohuo sitting in front, completely at peace, unknown to her that they had a heinous plan. Along the way, Okoh diverted off the busy Enugu-Abakaliki road, to a side road away from passing cars. From the back, Okefie lunged forward, grabbed Ohuo by the neck with a choking hold while Okoh viciously hit her on the head. Then Okefie strangled her. When her legs ceased kicking as life ebbed out and her heart stopped beating, the duo, still acting out their carefully scripted evil plan, calmly searched her and took all the money she had in dollars and her iPad.
When Sunday Sun reporter spoke with suspects in custody, Okoh recounted what transpired after the woman died. He said: “We dumped her corpse along Enugu/Abakaliki express road, on the Enugu State side. We took her dollars and luggage including ipad and broke the SIM cards of her phones. We ran to my hostel at Ebonyi State University and later went to Sabongari in Abakaliki to change the dollars to Naira and got over N850,000. We burnt the clothes of the deceased, and shared all the male clothes we saw in the luggage.”
The following day, after waiting for long and not receiving any call from Ohuo, her brother became troubled and went to the police to file a missing person report. At the time of the incident, Mr. Mohammed Adamu, was the police commissioner. Soon after he handed over to Ekechukwu, who assumed duty at the Command.
Soon after he received the case file, Ekechukwu directed detectives attached to Anti-Kidnapping Squad to commence investigation. They promptly arrested Okoh on January 29, 2016 at his hostel at the Ebonyi State University while Okefie was traced to his parent’s house at Ajaokuta in Kogi State on January 31, 2016. In the course of interrogation they confessed to the crime, and gave graphic details of how they did it.
Upon receiving news that the duo had been arrested, Ohuo’s family members stormed the headquarters of AKS, to identify them as the two people who were last seen with their sister before her death. They were shocked that Okoh who their sister had helped immensely could have been the person to tragically end her life. They wailed and were unable to control their emotions.
Meanwhile the corpse of Ohuo has been in the mortuary since November 14, when it was picked up from the roadside. Ekechukwu assured that the suspects would be charged to court soon after the conclusion of investigation. I've learned more lessons here. Never trust nobody. |

Kobicove: The first thing to know is that the company must have been in business for at least 3 years and must have audited financial statements for that period.
He would also need financial projections of the company for at least 36months.
He would need to appoint the following in a team:
Reporting accountants
Solicitors to the issue
Auditors to the issue
An issuing house eg FBN Capital etc
His company also needs to apply to SEC to seek approval
Note that before the company can get approval for this all it's taxes must be up to date, approvals and licences must also be up to date
They also need to prepare a brief profile of the company and it's principal officers
The company would also be required to state how much money they hope to raise from the IPO and what they intend to do with the money raised, all these must be stated in the prospectus for the IPO
This is just a brief summary of the process Very detailed. |

candidtalk: I don't blame Igbos for anything. Wars happen. That is the reality. It is how people behave after, whether winners or losers of a war, that defines their redemption, future glory, full rehabilitation and earns them the respect of everyone.
My point is that you Igbos should look at Germans and the Japanese to see how aberrant you are as a people.
The Germans and Japanese , after their second World War loss, learnt distinct lessons and became pacifist, peacemakers and extremely productive people who have two of the most admired and strongest economies in the world.
They totally shunned conflict and aggression to be entirely about socio-economic glory and rebirth.
No such thing for Igbos who continue to trouble fellow Nigerians hatefully, disruptively and violently till today despite the fact you should, if innately decent and responsible, toe the path of insular and peaceful rebirth as the Germans and Japanese undertook.
It would have been fantastic if you Igbos took time off, after your war loss, to insulate yourselves in the SE and build a culture, way of of life and socio-economic greatness that would make you admired as a people of genuines core goodness and depth as the Germans and Japanese have succeeded to achieve.
Today no one associates the average German or Japanese with the second World War whereas it is difficult to ever dissociate Igbos from the Nigerian civil war because you won't let anyone forget it with how you remain vengeful over your War lose and always pugnaciously seeking ways to gain proxy 'balancing' wins against the Yorubas and Northerners.
Contrast your behaviour with that of the Germans who are amiable partners with the Brits today and other nations they fought against. You people are just fundamentally aberrant even as you cannot see it. Thumbs up for this! |

nahr: Yet some people want to have Uju Anya hanged as if she is the only one on twitter who wrote negative things about the late queen. Uju is an Academic at a U.S. Univesity, so her Tweeter rant while the late Queen of England was on her deathbed was very ignorant, irresponsible and meant to draw attention to herself. Those Irish guys on Tweeter cursing her are random folks and not in the academia which frowns upon such uncoute behavior. What was the offense of the late Queen during the 30 months Nigerian Civil War? Absolutely NON. The French also supported the secessionists with White mercenaries and weapons which prolonged the sufferings of folks in the rebel enclave. In addition, Lt. Colonel Ojukwu (rtd) the rebel leader committed several military and political blunders due to youthful exhuberance being in his early 30s as of 1967. These blunders caused the most harm and death to more Ibos and non-Ibos, and not Uju's false rants against the late Queen Elizabeth of England. Uju has to read up more about the events leading right up to the Nigerian Civil War of 2 years 6 months and stop the criminal defamation of character! In an early 1980s documentary that I saw, Nnamdi Azikiwe was close to tears and criticised Ojukwu for the death of 2 of his relatives during the war. He was bluntly against the Presidential pardon granted by Shagari in the early 1980s to Ojukwu. Second, Ambassador Raph Uwechue and Hillary Njoku also criticised Ojukwu in their books for a lot of things especially his not listening to sound advice from people during the war which led to military blunders. In 2012 to 2013, this old topic of some Ibos falsely accusing other Nigerian ethnic groups of Civil War crimes was extensively trashed out by us on NL during the infamous Achebe book revisionism on the Nigerian Civil War. Tons of de-classified Civil War info were uploaded on NL at that time. There's vast evidence to prove that the Ibo-led secessionist rebel leadership are NOT blameless and brought mass pain and disaster to innocent Ibos and non-Ibos in the rebel enclaves while they fed well before running away via the Uli airstrip to Cote d' Ivoire. |

seunny4lif: Hatred? Do you know how many Irish citizens lost their family to due British rule over ROI. No one in Ireland hasn’t lost one or two of their family to British rule. Why do you think there are over 20M Irish citizens in USA and Canada while the main Ireland have just 5M population. The royal families killed over 10M Indians and uncountable Africans. The queen overseen the destruction of Kenya and South Africa. The Irish mainly migrated to the U.S. and Canada because of poor potato harvests in the 1800s. Others were moved as prisoners to Australia where after leaving prison they got integrated into the Australian society and went on to make wealth for themselves. |
