1stGenAmerican:

Thank you. I’m blushing. As for office, I’m working on it, give me 5-8 years. Hey 1stGenAmerican, how's your day been?
Dayum! What a blazing and self-assured response from the Empress... In 5-8 years, i.e., between 2027 to 2030, that's mad cool!
Yeah, it's do-able with your legal background as well, then you'll become too legit to quit!
We'll see how things pan out down the road and I'll be there to cheer you on. P.S. I saw the post that you made here two days ago on the legit Yoruba word "Akata" which in the Yoruba dictionary means Panther (a wild cat) used to metaphorically refer to all Westernised Africans (who have imbibed western accents, education, and dressing) while living for a relatively long time in England/UK, Canada, U.S.A, etc., as opposed to "Ologbo" (a domestic cat) used to metaphorically refer to Continental Africans living in Africa. African societies are known for using harmless metaphors and allegories in everyday speech. Animals and/or objects such as LIONS, IROKO TREES, LEOPARDS, ELEPHANTS, ROCKS, MOUNTAINS, with positive qualities or attributes such as SIZE, SPEED, STRENGHT, etc., are used to depict human beings who have physical strenght and are successful achievers, and more! In American-English and British English, and indeed the rest of the world, metaphors are used in everyday speech. Even within the global financial markets, we talk about the BULLS and the BEARS, which refers to buyers and sellers on the floors of global stock exchanges or online traders who buy and sell financial instruments. Based on the Akata etymology, I want to let you know that it's NOT an ethnic slur against African-Americans. This topic has been dealt with on NL, other discussion forums, and on YouTube... and Akata is used as a form of EULOGY and LEGIT prestigious metaphor just like folks in America call one another "COOL CATS" meaning calm and well-spoken men, OR simply "CATS" which is used within the jazz music scene.
Coincidentally, we also have the famous iconic African-American Black Panther Movement from the roaring 1960s Civil Rights Movement era in the U.S. The members referred to themselves as "Black Panthers." There's a VERY STRONG NEED by Nigerians of Yoruba descent in the U.S. and worldwide (and those of non-Yoruba descent) to file criminal defamation suits against the owners of blogs, novels, podcasts, movies, documentaries and news media spreading false info about a language (Yoruba) they don't speak fluently or understand. The NAACP in the U.S. will have to be carried along here as well to get justice. There is a VERY IMPORTANT to be careful about reading FALSE and DUBIOUS viral information online and offline. There are also controversial groups in America such as American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS) and other folks within the African-American community who have been ignorantly spreading the false info about the meaning of Akata despite being CORRECTED by knowlegeable Nigerians about the REAL MEANING of Akata as a metaphor. => https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2020/02/21/black-history-month-racism-slavery-descendants-immigrants-column/4788210002/=> https://www.elle.com/life-love/a39477600/black-immigrants-black-america-ados/=> https://news.utexas.edu/2020/02/24/descendants-of-slavery-movement-undermines-the-spirit-of-black-history-month/The Yorubas (with a population of over 50 million folks indigenous to Nigeria and 3 countries in West Africa, and a huge number in the larger Diaspora) were one of the major victims of the trans-Atlantic slave trade in the late 1700s and 1800s to Cuba, Brazil, U.S.A, Jamaica, Trinidad, etc, so there's NO way they would ever call there own blood "wild animals" or use "cotton picker" slurs on African-Americans. Yorubas have produced great men and women such as Professor Wole Soyinka who is the first black Nobel Laurette as of 1986, sportsmen such as Hakeem Olajuwon, Giannis Adetokunbo (Antetokounpo), Grammy Award winners such as Sade Adu in 1986, SEAL, Charmillionaire and WALE the Nigerian-American Rappers, Hollywood stars such as Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, David Oyelowo, and John Boyega. Many scientists and global technocrats such as Kase Lawal, the Houston, Texas-based oil magnate and business mogul, etc. are included here. Bigger than Africa: Tales of the Yoruba people=> https://www.un.org/africarenewal/magazine/december-2019-march-2020/bigger-africa-tales-yoruba-people=> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Yoruba_people=> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoruba_people The last slave ship [The Clotilda] to ever sail into the U.S. [Mobile, Alabama] from West Africa in 1860 had a lot of Yorubas of modern-day Nigeria and Benin Republic on board (who were taken as war captives) and they got their freedom after the American Civil War in 1865. Kosola Oluale (aka Cudjo Lewis) a Yoruba from the Bante region or area of Benin Republic was the last known surviving male survivor from the slave schooner of 1860. He passed on in the 1930s in Africa Town, Alabama. Yoruba ancestry and bloodlines flow in the veins of African-Americans and Black Caribbeans too, so there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY Yorubas and WELL-INFORMED Nigerians would call African-Americans cotton pickers or wild animals like some haters are foolishly and falsely. => https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cudjoe_LewisThese haters will have to be to be TAMED using the instrumentality of the American legal system right up to the Supreme Court if NEED BE. They will be made to retract all they have published ONLINE and OFFLINE pay millions of dollars in damages for defaming Yorubas and Nigerians. I already have a list of some of those Websites media houses, podcast publishers, Hollywood movie producers, and book publishers who have made a BIG FOOL of themselves by publishing and spreading falsehood to millions of folks. Sugar Hill, a 1993 movie by Wesley Snipes who happens to be one of my favorite actors UNFORTUNATELY also refered to Akata as "Cotton Picker." This is pure falsehood as the term Akata refers to a Panther which lives in the WILD or JUNGLE... and metaphorically as I said, Akata in Yoruba lingo also means all persons of African descent who have lived in the Western world in places such as England/UK, Canada, the USA. Akata does NOT strictly refer to African-Americans because Yorubas also refers to their kinsmen who have SCHOOLED and LIVED ABROAD... and imbibed Western accents and ways of life as AKATA and NOBODY gets angry because the word Akata is used metaphorically. For EXAMPLE, as a form of EULOGY, Yoruba parents (mother OR father) could say to their son or daughter at the airport, "You are welcome back to Nigeria from England (or America, Canada) my son, you have now become an Akata with your changed accent, dressing and you also now have a University Masters Degree from the University of Oxford, etc." I hope this helps.QUICK UPDATE:P.P.S.I hope you're OK @1stGenAmerican, here's a quick update, read up thismy long but deeply insightful Post Script post again. We have to be on the SAME PAGE here since I know that you do have a maternal African-American heritage in addition to your Nigerian paternal ancestry. It's also great that you have a legal background so you understand the DEFAMATORY ASPECTS of this false accusations.
I just did more investigations online about the March 9, 2010 and August 17, 2022 Tweets of this so-called Prof. of Linguistics called Uju Anya. She is a Nigerian of Ibo origin and NOT a Yoruba or Yoruba-speaking.
So Uju Anya HAD NO RIGHT to offer ANY apologies for the word "Akata" which she herself said she doesn't know the meaning! I just saw a ridiculous 28:35 minutes YouTube video which delved into Uju's apology this morning, and I'm pissed cause when LEGAL ACTION is going to be taken, she'll be included among the guilty ones for DEFAMATION and spreading MISLEADING info. She isn't fit to be a Prof. of Linguistics and should have sought help among Nigeria-Americans of Yoruba descent (and Yorubas for the correct meaning of Akata).
The Yorubas and Ibos are 2 DISTINCT ethnic groups in Nigeria and speak different languages with different cultures and traditions. It's also very clear that some Nigerians who are Ibos (or alternatively Igbos) are the BIG PROBLEM HERE because they too are misinterpreting a word which is NOT derived from their language. The Ibos are some of the folks spreading this misinformation about a CLEARLY HARMLESS word and it's clear defamation. Nigeria is NOT a monolithic country but has different language and ethnic groups (over 250). There's a Nigerian-American novelist of Ibo origin who wrote a DEFAMATORY book in America using the name Akata, and she's ALSO CLEARLY in breach of the law.
Latinos have also accused African Americans of FALSELY ACCUSING them of using ethnic slurs which Latinos have denied. People should learn to engage others by learning their langauge meanings before crying wolf. Like I said above, Akata is a METAPHOR and it's clear enough for any intelligent person to UNDERSTAND.
Stay Safe... I'll talk to you soon. I'll delve more into the specifics of the prestigious Akata metaphor (which is used etymologically as a EULOGY) by mailing you and/or posting MORE here on NL from next week.

Agriculture › Re: 5 Agricultural Economic Principles Every Farmer Must Know by AlphaTaikun: 5:58pm On Aug 20, 2022 |
phyllosilicate: A farm is a profit maximization unit. The goal of most farmers is to get the highest possible output at the lowest possible cost. To achieve this goal, the farmer must make the economic decision of what to produce, how much of the product to produce and what amount of resource/resource combination should be allocated.
Agricultural Economics is the application of techniques and principles of economics to solve agricultural problems. Below are the five Agricultural economic principles every farmer must know.
1. How Much Input to use (Input Output Relationship) When planning a farm operation, the farmer needs to decide the quantity of inputs to use. He has to decide how much feed to feed his chicken, how much seed to sow per acre, and how much fertilizer to apply per acre. He needs some rule to decide how much input would be economically optimal. The rule of deciding on this optimal level is based on marginal returns and marginal cost.
The law of diminishing marginal return states that as units of variable input are added to units of one or two fixed inputs, after a point, each incremental input produces less and less additional output.
For example, if incremental of nitrogen fertilizer were applied to maize, after a point, each incremental units of nitrogen would produce less and less additional maize. Were it not for this law, a single farmer would produce all the maize required in the world, merely by acquiring all of the available Nitrogen fertilizer and apply it to his farm.
Most farmers makes the mistake of sowing too much seeds in their plot of land, rearing large numbers of chicken in a small space and stocking large number of fingerlings in a small fish pond. They do this thinking it would increase their profit. But the opposite is usually the case. As a rule of thumb, increase the use of an input if the value added by the use of that input is larger than the additional cost.
2. How to Combine Inputs (Input Input Relationship) Usually more than one input X is needed to produce a product Y. Also one input X1 can often replace another input X2. For instance, in beef production silage or grain can be used as feed, while in poultry maize or guinea corn can be used as feed.
I once told a poultry farmer to replace some amount of maize with brewery spent grain during feed formulation when he complained of the high cost of maize. He refused saying his “doctor” asked him to stick to a feed formula.
A farmer should know that a given a given amount of product Y can be produce with different combination of input say X1 and X2. Also, a farmer should strive to find out which combination of input X1 and X2 will minimize the cost of producing a given amount of Y.
As a general rule, substitute one input for another if the cost of the substituting one input for another if the cost of the substituted inputs is less than the cost of the input that has been replaced and the productivity level stays the same.
3. How to Combine Enterprise or Products (The Output Output Relationship) A farmer has to decide upon a possible combination of products. There may be many alternatives: Milk, beef, eggs, poultry, fish, cereals and legumes. In deciding upon the combination of products, the first task is to determine the physical relationship between the enterprises. There are mainly three relationships: complementary, supplementary and competitive.
By complementary, I mean that given limited resources, the production of one product increases production of another product without extra resources. Examples include milk and beef (calves)
Supplementary relationship means that one product Y1, does not in any way affect production of another product Y2. Examples include Bee (Honey) production and forestry.
Finally, competitive relationship means that given limited resources, the products compete with each other and the production of one will decrease production of the other e.g. similar cropping plants such as maize and gunea corn.
Given the physical relationship between various products, how can a farmer decide upon the combination of two products so that profit would be maximized? As a general rule, substitute one product for another if the value of the product is larger than the value of the product that has been replaced and that the total cost remains the same.
4. Inelastic Demand for Farm Products. The consumers of farm products are humans with a basic but LIMITED need for farm products, the result is the well-known relative price inelastic aggregate demands for farm products.
As income increases, the demand for agricultural products will increase in lesser proportion when compared with industrial goods.
For example, Mr. Adams becomes a billionaire, he can increase his number of shirts from five to fifty, the number of his cars from one to ten , but he would hardly increase the plate of rice he consumes from one to two.
5. Agricultural Prices and Production Usually Moves in Opposite Direction. Farmers usually complain that prices are high at the time they have nothing to sell and prices are low at the time of harvest. When the aggregate supply of agricultural commodities is high the prices would be low and when the aggregate supply is low the price would be high.
For this reason the US government spend billions of dollars to pay farmers to plant lesser fields and buy up surplus farm products. As unbelievable as this seems, it is a strategy of controlling supply of agricultural products so that farmers can sell at fair prices.
Here in Nigeria, we have National reserves that ought to buy up surplus farm products when the supply is high and release them when the supply is low (which is the present case). But recently the Federal Ministry of Agriculture said that out of the over a million tonnes capacity, Nigeria only store 8000 tonnes during the time of surplus.
A corollary of this principle is that a farmer’s income increases when success is achieved at growing a crop in which other farmers have widespread failures.
Agricultural Economics is a very broad field, but these are the basic principles every farmer must know.

Agriculture › Re: Macropropagated Plantain Suckers, The Elite Planting Materials (pictures) by AlphaTaikun: 5:53pm On Aug 20, 2022 |
phyllosilicate: What IITA and CARBAB say about macropropagated suckers:
"Farmers usually depend on natural regeneration of plantain for the supply of planting materials. This is a very slow process that often produces small numbers of planting materials that are usually contaminated by various soil pathogens such as nematodes and shortens the lifetime of plantation to only one or two cycles of cultivation, beyond which lodging occurs. IITA has developed techniques for the rapid multiplication of healthy planting materials. " IITA Ibadan.
"The cultivation of plantain is underexploited due to the inadequate provision of good quality propagation materials. The negative influence of parasites also leads to the use of poor quality suckers, resulting in growth cycle of only two years. The return on effort put in by farmers is therefore unsatisfactory, leading to further discouragement among plantain growers. Fortunately, a number of intensive production techniques have been developed, including in vitro cultivation, typically used in research centres and macropropagation using the plantlet from stem fragments." (African Centre for Banana and Plantain Research, Duala Cameron)

|
Agriculture › Re: 6 Facts About Plantain Farming Backed With Research by AlphaTaikun: 5:47pm On Aug 20, 2022 |
phyllosilicate: 1. Cheapest During The Dry Season.
The price of plantain is very cheap form November to February and most expensive few months after the onset of rain, especially before new yams emerge.
This is why experience farmers plant at the middle of the raining season so they would harvest when it's expensive.
2. Plantain Wants Some Air
Planting plantains too close for example using 2m*2m spacing (1000 plants per acre) creates unhealthy competition. The plantains would grow too tall, making them susceptible to wind damage. Also they would take longer time to bear bunches that would be small.
IITA recommends a spacing of 3m*2m that is 670 per acre.
3. They Prefer potassium to Nitrogen
Unlike most crops, plantain consumes more potassium than Nitrogen. Their potassium requirements is twice that of their nitrogen. For this reason, fertilizer/manure applied most be very rich in potassium.
4. Plantain Love Mulch
According to IITA, the yield of a plantain field that is mulched and not fertilized, is 50% higher than the one that is fertilized and not mulched. Also the yield of the field that is mulched and fertilized, is twice the one that is only fertilized but not mulched.
So before you burn the land that you want to use to plant plantain, think twice.
5. The First 3 Months Are The Most Critical
According to the African center for banana and plantain research, good growth in the first 3-4 months, guarantees high productivity. At this stage, the plant are fragile and requires tender care. The plants should be mulched, receive frequent rain and field weed free. This is why plantain must be planted at least 3 months before the end of raining season.
6. You Must Start Clean
Pest and diseases enters the plantain farm through plantain suckers. The corms and roots of conventional plantain suckers contains the deadly plantain nematodes and beetles.
According to biodiversity international, if as little as 1% of the suckers planted were infested with nematodes, the yield would reduce by 20% in the first year. And from the third year onward, the African center for banana and plantain research says all the plantains would start producing tiny bunches. This account for why majority of the plantains sold are very small.
The most effective method of preventing and combating plantain parasites is the use of healthy planting materials such as tissue culture and macropropagated suckers. |

Romance › Re: Hard Lessons I Got From A Friend's Messy Break Up. by AlphaTaikun: 9:41am On Aug 20, 2022 |
CaveAdullam: 1. The way he's a fugitive to his fraud victims is the same way his girlfriend is a fugitive to him. Now, he understands the feelings that come with being a victim of a scam and other fraudulent activities. Thief catch thief. Lol.
Ok, that's for that.
2. Say no to crime in whatever shape, style, and color. But be ruthless in the attainment of genuine goals and ambitions.
3. Women have men they love. No matter what you do for them they will remain loyal to that man. Rich or poor, it doesn't matter.
4. You cannot buy a woman's love with money. Showing her money from the onset is like exposing your wounds to dogs. They will lick and parasitize on you till they fill their stomach.
5. If you are a rich man, weigh every word of your sexual partner twice, thrice, several times. Same with other people.
They don't love you. What they love is your money.
6. Don't be blinded by love. Romance is an adventure for men, but many men have fallen there without being able to rise because they were not wise and proactive in their dealings with women.
7. Your woman should not know the secret of your business. Don't allow romance to make you become an open book and easily predictable. Refer to 6 above.
8. Once a woman starts pressurizing you, you must take time to know the underlying factor responsible for it. Most times, it is a way of manipulation.
9. When people hasten you to do something, they probably have something to gain. And they will abandon you if the results backfire. Thread with caution.
9. Avoid every form of a long-distance sexual relationship. The cost always outweighs the reason or benefit behind it.
10. You don't monitor or spy on women. That's a fool's job.
Once you suspect any ulterior motive caution her. If it persists, disown her. Time spent acting as an undercover should be channeled into other productive areas of life. With women, guts and intuitions take the lead. Then, follow with reason.
11. If she allows other men in her DM and space when in a relationship, it means you are still an option. This should make you never take her seriously. Just fun and cruise.
Women can only be loyal to one man. If she's not, she's for the street. Refer to the 3 above.
12. Don't take women at face value. Before you commit to her, you must examine her thoroughly.
You will know a woman's true color when you are poor than when you are rich. In the presence of abundance, manipulators are attentive and pretentious.
Who stands by you when you are poor? Who wants to exchange value for value with you? This is a litmus test to determine the quality of people you should take as acquaintances.
13. If she's not consistent with her behavior dump her. Except she's ascending.
14. Don't spend on women that have not submitted to you. (Marriage is the seal).
15. Men and women can't be friends. But if she insists, never spend. Only reciprocate kind gestures.
16. Don't believe every word women say. Judge their character and words. Refer to 5 above.
17. Better to help men than women. Ungrateful people abound, but in the scenario that anyone will help you when you're in a tough challenge, the probability that it will be a man is higher. Women don't associate with losers. (Even the poor man she's loyal to provides her emotional feelings and things other men can't).
18. If you want to help a woman, help her father, brother, nephew, boyfriend, fiance, husband, or son. These people will help her. But you have helped them to better their lives and they can now help their women.
19. Don't fall for romance because it will ruin you as a man. Guard your edges in your dealings with women. Refer to 6 above.

ubunja: yes man, its about creating that safe space. And it works best especially if you've that gentleman demeanor, that decent good guy thing,, but then flash to her a darker freakier dirtier side that she doesn't suspect you have. This has kind of been my trademark...
Back in my 2go days I'd directly ask a girl "what's your darkest deepest secret or fantasy that even your best friend doesn't know?"
You're on an interesting path man,, I'd add, Remember that time we talked about how immoral women are? Here's the thing, while money is the shortest shortcut to sex and being good looking with good genes will get you chosen easiest,,, being a freak without limits willing and ready to indulge women's fantasies and perversions without a drop of judgement will get you plenty of play. "Lonewolf." |

ubunja: i actually like this. Seems like you put her in that rare space where she felt comfortable enough to open up. And she seems smitten enough with you. Hope you didn't act shocked when she told you all this cause that would prevent her from doing it again. Women abhorr being judged because the most important thing they have is their reputation. And so they tremendously value men who are open minded and can tolerate their nature without getting disguisted. Every time a girl says she has done terrible things she's ashamed of always tell her you're in the same boat. Even if its a lie. Women are always looking for a partner-in-crime , someone they can walk the dark side with. And that someone must be you. If you can't realistically present yourself as a freak , at the very least, present yourself as someone who's never been out and about but is willing to learn and experiment and have been looking for that chance since forever.
Nice one bros. |

CaveAdullam: At the beginning, women are the prize because they've been blessed freely with all that's needed to fulfill their feminine imperatives - looks, and early fertility. At a younger age, these women are chased by men that have accomplished several things for themselves and men still struggling at the bottom see them as golden calves. At that age, she is a goddess, men just wrestle and filter themselves to win her heart.
The wall is the game changer. The few men that survived and are at the top have everything that women wants and have more beautiful women younger than her around them.
She rejected him at the earlier stage and it was temporal. If he doesn't commit, his rejection is permanent. Women always come to reality after they have wasted all their cards. If she ever finds a man that commits after the wall, it is never a win for her. That commitment she will resent with a smile on her face. Simps will always create that win for them.
Wise women will make use of that short window period to enhance themselves because they know they don't have much time. The foolish ones will want to play as men.
Men are the prize because, in the end, all that they've lost is rebounded in folds.
Thanks. True that!... The natural cycle of events in the world of the human animal. |

Danycrusoe: I won't lie, I was taken aback, before I would have showed it but I then went on to tell her how people misjudge me to be perfect and innocent when in fact I have made out with someone in a secluded open space, and also levelled up with some truths and half truths and blatant make up of my sex life so as not to make her feel weird.
In the days of 2go, there was this lady who was extremely naughty with me for over two years. We chat video call and all. I had never had sex then and the day I came out clean like babe I have never had sex before was the day I chopped blocking and lost all connections.
Of course she said something like "and u made me spread my bad side with u all along by pretending what u r not" before she blocked me.
So yep, I'm not making such a mistake again. |

RedpillAnalyst: You said it better People make this mistake and complain later in life. It is not even about virginity or hymen. Men care about this not because they care about bloody intercourse or hymen. It is about self-preservation and trust. A marriage with a virgin has about 80% chance of success and marriage with a female more than 5 bodies has a high failure rate of more than 70%.
People lie, statistics don't lie. 31 percent who lost their virginity as teens divorced within five years, and 47 percent divorced within 10 years. = published in the Journal of Marriage and Family. Insightful stats. |

ubunja: yes boss!
it will always be men's weakness to make their woman their everything. Women themselves know how to break their needs and spread them over many guys, so when they lose their main guy they only suffer a little. A woman will have one guy for money, another for sex, another for comfort, another for life advice, etc. If she breaks up with her BF she's not losing sex, she's not losing money, she's not losing life advice-- just love. Hence she can bounce back faster and feels less of a heartbreak.
But men.... When a man gets a GF he drops everything for her, and makes her his everything: sex? GF. advice? GF Comfort? GF Love? GF Best friend? GF Next of Kin? GF
In the event of a breakup,, when the man loses his GF, he loses EVERYTHING. He loses his best friend, his advisor, his sex partner, his comforter--- all in one go. Hence men suffer breakups harder than women. They allow the GF too much monopoly in all parts of their life. And this really needs to change.
Men better learn to spread their needs over many people and stop putting everything on their woman. Many men can't even maintain any relationship with a female once they get a GF,, no matter what role that female played, she's dropped as soon as the man has a GF. Its a loser move.
Don't center everything around your woman for sure.
Hope your weekend is going nicely man. Nicely put. |
Politics › Re: Ndoki Community Of Rivers State by AlphaTaikun: 10:00pm On Aug 19, 2022*. Modified: 1:04pm On Aug 20, 2022 |
EmmaJnr1: The Ndoki subgroup is at the South Easternmost part of Igbo land, straddling between Ukwa area of Abia State, Oyigbo LGA of Rivers State, and pockets of them in the Western limits of AkwaIbom State.
Some people in Ijoid groups like Okrika and Ibani are of Ndoki descent. The Igbo dialect spoken in Bonny and Opobo areas of Rivers State is that of the Ndoki.
The Imo river flows through Ndoki land on its way to Opobo.
Ohambele Ndoki was a notable slave depot in the past. Azumini was another market town, notable for oil palm trade at the dawn of legitimate trade.
The oil palm wealth of Ndọ̀ki, along with that of the Ngwá, Ibibio and Annang hinterlands 'had contributed to the wealth of the Opobo citystate, who along with other riverine citystates were the middlemen in the trade between the Europeans and the people of the hinterlands.
Some scholars argue that Jaja's resistance of the British was not out of the desire to stop imperialism but due to his desire to make more profit in the trade by controlling the oil palm markets in the hinterlands, as letting the British trade directly with the hinterland markets would bring decline to the citystate's economy..
A legend is told about one "ODUM EGEGE" who had stood up against the domination and oppresion of Ndoki by the King and people of Opubo-ama, who lived miles, downstream the Imo river. The King ordered Abiriba and Aro smiths to sculpt and mummify "Odum Egege" alive ! according to the legend...
Ndoki, an Igbo subgroup is bordered by the Ngwa and Asa Igbo subgroups to the North and West respectively, the Annang to the East, and the Ogoni to the South. Together with the Asa, they are known as "Ụ̀kwà"
They have historic and trade ties with the Bonny (Ubani) and Opobo peoples. Okoloma is a clan name in both Ndoki and Bonny. The name "Ubani" is common among the Ndoki as well. Akwete, an Ndoki clan is an Igbo heritage site for traditional cloth weaving. The prized fabric produced by the women of the clan also goes by the name of the clan "Akwete", a source of ethnic pride to the Igbo.
However, the cloth weaving industry began declining gradually, with the introduction of foreign fabrics.
Nwọtam is an Igbo masquerade with its origin in Ndoki land.
Akwete, Azumini, Akirika-obu, Afam and Ohambele are notable Ndoki clans.

Chinasa Nworu
Ndoki Mmamma nnu The Akwete cloths are colorful and woven just like the Yoruba aso-oke cloths. Davido's paternal grandmother is from Akwete in Abia State. I got to know this in 2009 when she passed on. That was when I first knew that Senator Isiaka Adeleke's biological mother was from Abia State! My jaw nearly hit the floor. She met her Yoruba husband (Senator Adeleke, later became a Second Republic Senator) in Enugu where the whole family lived till they all relocated to Ibadan in late 1967 due to the expulsion of all non-Old Eastern Region families as a result of the impending 2 years and 6 months Nigerian Civil War.

Agriculture › Re: Farmers! Come On In For Maggot Production by AlphaTaikun: 8:58pm On Aug 19, 2022 |
swishspiro: In a maggot bin, female flies lay about 500 eggs apiece daily. This produces an army of hungry larvae that eat their way through mounds of food waste. And they do eat fast! 1kg of fly eggs produces 380kg of larvae protein in just three days! Do you know that fly larvae (maggot) are also a source of feed for poultry and fishes?..Yes, they are, infact Fly larvae are equally as nutricious as chicken feeds such as mash, pellets e.t.c and other common poultry feeds available.A recent research concluded that fly larvae (maggot) contains 65% protein and 25% fat.And we all know the importance of protein in the healthy growth of our poultry livestocks. Business › Re: My Journey Into The Short Let Apartment Business In Lagos. by AlphaTaikun: 8:13pm On Aug 19, 2022 |
mrsage: You can secure a long lease for a room self contained ( Studio Flat ) in a fairly decent part of Lagos for as low as 1.8M for 15 years.
This is very economical.
Lets do the maths.
1,800,000 ÷ 15 = 120,000
So in the real sense you are getting the room at 120 per annum.
If you decide to rent to a tenant, rent in the same area as at today is N300,000 per annum.
So in 6 years or less you will have recovered your 1.8M.
You have 9 years to enjoy pure profits. |
Business › Re: My Journey Into The Short Let Apartment Business In Lagos. by AlphaTaikun: 8:08pm On Aug 19, 2022 |
mrsage: First determine what type of apartment.
Is it a studio flat also called Room self con? Or Mini flat or 2 or 3 bedroom flat.
The options available
a) Build/ Buy and use for short let.
Here you either buy or build from scratch then use the property for the short let business.
This is good if you have the resources. Here you own your property and you have total control.
b) Long Lease to Short let.
Here you take a long lease on an apartment. Maybe for 10 years and above.
You pay the lease amount and you are free to use the apartment for the agreed duration.
This is what I mostly recommend and this is the path I also follow.
The apartment I manage now is on lease.
I took a 20 year lease on the apartment so I have rest of mind and freedom for 20 yrs.
No landlord wahala. No annual payments.
The apartment is here in Lagos in a very acessible part of the mainland in Lagos.
c) Rent yearly and use for short let.
Here you rent an apartment, pay rent yearly then use it for short let.
This is a risky option. The risk factors are very high. I usually do not recommend this option for obvious reasons.
Landlord troubles. A landlord could increase rent by 50% at any point. This will affect business planning.
Also it is important to add that a typical short let business may need about 2-3 years just to break even and attain stability.
What if the landlord decides tp issue a quit notice after the 1st year? What will happen to the business?
If you must rent to short let you must thread with Caution. You must be very sure of your sales projections.
Its a risky path but possible if you have the "liver" and knowledge.
This is the cheapest option by the way. Dayum... True that. |

mrsage: What is the ideal Apartment for short let business
Research has revealed that 2 and 3 Bedroom apartments are the most sought after in the industry.
Next on the demand scale are Apartments for parties. 4 bedroom or party cribs specifically suited for house parties, get togethers, Bach eve parties, baby showers etc.
However there is also reasonable demand for Studio apartments and Mini flats.
Other factors to consider:
The apartment must be in a clean and serene compound.
It should be spacious with adequate parking space and some room for outdoor relaxation no matter how little.
If you have space and resources, make adequate provision for an outdoor play area, swimming pool, gym etc. This will also enhance acceptance. Insightful. |
Business › Re: My Journey Into The Short Let Apartment Business In Lagos. by AlphaTaikun: 7:57pm On Aug 19, 2022 |
mrsage: Ideal location fro short let business.
Short let apartments thrive in popular residential areas with a good mix of commercial activities and recreational centres.
A place where people can reside and easily gain access to bank branches, supermarkets, cinemas, hang out spots and many more.
A place where they can easily get all basic needs met.
Ideal places for short let in Lagos:
Lekki Phase 1 Victoria Island / Oniru Ikeja Yaba Surulere Gbagada Festac/ Amuwo Odofin etc.
Its important to realise that patronage differ based on Location.
The neighbourhood should be relatively safe and secure.
There is a website where you can check demand trends for short lets based on Location. The website has statistics to cover every state in Nigeria.
It will be revealed later.
Generally short lets do not thrive in remote areas or outskirts of cities. Outskirts like, Sango Otta, Epe, Ikorodu. These areas are not hot spots for shortlet.
However you can still do business here and make money if you are very business savvy and understand the market. It will require more work. Nicely put. |
