Get your passport first as there is usually an expected date of entry (you can’t enter b4 that date) to avoid rescheduling your flight.
And I’m sure you know that to reschedule is not FREE

If you are coming in into the UK, especially as a student or a dependent, you need to get these ASAP in your first days of entering to give you some sort of soft landing

BRP
NIN (National Insurance Number)
Bank Account
Proof of Address (Accommodation)

These four above will ease your life greatly in your first few days / weeks. Meanwhile, getting no.4 is not for the faint hearted especially for a family.


1. BRP is already waiting for you in your chosen location (post office or school)

2. NI you apply online via the almighty gov . uk site with your BRP n other docs (it takes weeks 1-16 max to be issued the number and very easy steps to navigate)

3. Bank account : thank God for online banks, those old generation banks (HSBC,Lloyds, RBS etc) will ask you to bring your ancestral land allocation form from God
Nevertheless, you still need them big time in your journey of life in d UK.
So, to cross this hurdle use this MONZO referral link below for now and when you get settled big time, you go for the old gen banks

4. Accommodation start browsing these sites
Rightmove
Gumtree
Zoopla
Open rent (you interact with property owners directly but beware of scammers fronting as landlords)
Facebook market etc (beware of scammers)
Word of mouth
Friends and family connect

You can get your accommodation sorted right while still in 9ja. I know some who did thru a known agent.
Meanwhile, You might need the following if eventually you get a letting agent or a landlord who is ready to rent a property to you.
- a UK based guarantor (a citizen or homeowner or both)
- a deposit fee (just like refundable caution fee for 9ja)
- an holding fee (to get the property off market; refundable)
- a month rent

NOTE If these sites don’t give you what you want, then have your minimum of 6 months rent ready

Opportunities abound but Chinese, Indians and others are taking over.

Prepare and plan adequately

A very big and loud CONGRATULATIONS going out to those who just got their visas.
Living in the UK is another kettle of fish but with adequate preparation (no matter how small), you will quickly adapt
- You need a smart phone. It’s somehow cheaper to fix (if faulty or get a new one) all your gadgets n devices in 9ja b4 leaving for the UK
- Familiarise yourself to maps on your phone.You can’t move around without a guide (map), unless you ve relatives or friends who are ready to be doing that

To those still expectant, it shall surely come. Try and do your due diligence and your passport will be stamped.
The UK has many different visa routes and this only signifies they have opened up their space to qualified individuals - just make yourself qualified in any category you wish to use and you good to get a visa.

In addition, this Qatar airways From (Lagos - Doha - UK) as you rightly pointed here.. do they require any COVID protocol like.. one must be double vaccinated or have a PCR negative test result.. Please your response highly appreciated

You can check their site to know if there’s been any updated covid protocol but as at April/May, nothing was required other than your nose mask to be worn at all times

Qatar airways do not require your test or vac card from you if you are just transiting.
Just make sure you have your nose mask on at all times till you get to UK

What documents will I need apart from the signed consent form by both of us

1. His passport bio data page
2. His birth certificate
3. Family picture including our child
4. Documents from her school to show more relationship
5. Her birth certificate of course
6. Her old international passport as a child.

Are these too much or not necessary?

You can use a 60 day POF but officially it’s 28 days minimum. If your POF has been available since April,
- Print it and use b4 d 31 days elapse
- don’t print but keep running d account till your other docs or CAS is/are ready and then print

I ve used 35, 43, 58 days statements b4. Using those longer days put your mind at rest but if raba no too dey, try 28 days in peace but make sure you use the print out b4 31 days after printing.
The point is, print your statement as many times as possible unless of course you run am and those folks tell you that you ll pay to print

No, it’s mainly the MA that has a burden of proof per say. All the dependents need to do is to prove their subsisting relationships with the MA

If time is against you for biometrics, it’s better you use TLS VI
Although, using them can mean more costs, but it’s better to spend some xtra money and have your visa on time than wasting precious times waiting for TLS Ikeja.

TLS VI services isn’t free though (either normal booking or walk-in)
And when you choose VI, don’t miss your time (even if it’s for 15 or 30 mins), otherwise you ll cough 42k or more.

Abuja is also very fast and I believe it’s still fast.

I already have my CAS.... It was given to me immediately after the school confirmed my Initial deposit of £2,000.

My delay is just the maturity of POF which is 13th July.

Once you are sure of your 28 days statement, you can start your visa application and even book biometrics ahead since there are no earlier dates again.

NB you might have to choose assisted service instead of self service since your POF wouldn’t be ready when filling the application
