The special benefit is that on Tier 2 you are on the 5 year route to ILR, while on PSW you are on the 10 year route.
As she still has 3 months to go on her Tier 4, obviously, they can wait for up to that 3 months for the COS to appear, and if for some reason it delays that long, then she can apply for the PSW. The entitlement to the PSW no go expire until the Tier 4 visa expires.
In addition, PSW isn’t cheap especially for a family. It’s more or less like the last resort

I don't think he means a year upfront. He seems to be referring to the contract not upfront payment. His major concern may be the price of £1,200 to £1,400.
Ok, a year contract as against 6 months.

I want to send a fragile package to and fro a city to another (98 miles to n fro)
Weight 29kg
Height 83 cm

Most parcel delivery coys I ve seen online are saying package too large and out of range of their service,

I am just wondering why automatic car is so expensive in the Uk. The price difference between auto and manual is just so annoying.

Is there any other site apart from gumtree, FB market place to still compare prices?
Na the price be that o. Just negotiate well and be careful you don’t buy a ‘dead’ auto transmission car in the name of automatic.

No other place to confirm as your hosts are extremely conservative and auto transmission here is like luxury - pipo wey get, dey always make sure say dem use am wella b4 deciding to sell

Good evening house, please who is familiar with nursery schools in Manchester and how they operate?

Our daughter is resuming nursery by end of the month but we were told the school operates free 30hrs for even nursery and not from reception.

The school reps visited our apartment on Tuesday as part of their admission process and I asked them about requirement to pay for additional hours as we'll be unavailable to pick her up by 12pm from November which I expected to be the norm but the school said their school is 30hrs FREE.

I visited the school today again to reconfirm the reps that came to our place understood my questions and the person that attended to me insisted their school is subsidized for children and it's not public funds. She however said the school claims their money back from council for citizens on benefit (entitled to public funds) through their code with the council.

I'd like to know if anyone here is familiar with this "almighty subsidy" cause I laid out my cards to the school as regards to our immigration status and how we have no recourse to public funds make I no go enjoy wetin fit hook me for neck in the near future.

Is there anyone here familiar with this or has heard anything about it before? Biko epp me before I get comfortable eating poison.

Hello house, I recently moved into the UK on August 12 this year and I came in with my international driving license from Nigeria, So to ease my movement of moving around the UK.

Now after I recently purchased my car a Mazda 6 grin grin
Paid the road tax successfully.

Now to get an insurance, I discovered I’m going to be charged about £7000 /year for insurance

Please, how do i go about the insurance, as it’s illegal to drive without a insurance in the Uk
Try and tweak a bit of the information you supplied on the insurance site eg make sure your
- ‘No Claim’ is not 0 (3-5yrs is ok) in fact, higher d better
- where you park during d day n at night matters (make sure it’s a personal n safe place)
- Do away with add ons (additional products) by the insurance coy
- use comparethemarket dot com to compare quotes

Hi people, please I need help on accommodation in Glasgow . We are presently in Airbnb for fews days which will end this week. We need a 2-3 bed apartment and we can pay for 3 months or more if that will make it faster. Please help!!!
If you can network extensively - church, work, your 9ja contacts in Glasgow etc try

- word of mouth, as it can help sometimes
- go local and visit local agents’ offices in areas where you desire to rent
- with your contact ask if anyone has a room or two (shared flat) to rent in a 2 or 3 bed - this is a temporary measure to save cost on the Airbnb for now.

Good Afternoon Family

Got my student visa, trying to rent an apartment, even after providing Guarantor and paying deposit, the letting agency is requesting for a right to rent code.

I tried to do it online from this website [https://right-to-rent.service.gov.uk/rtr-prove/id-question] with my passport number and DOB.

It has been giving me error.

I suspect that the BRP number will work but I plan on securing the apartment before arrival so I can move in from the airport.

Anyone with experience on this should please advise me.

Regards.
Since, you already paid deposit, let the agent know you not in town yet and when you intend to come in so you can pick up your BRP and provide them with the RtR code.
I Hope they will be patient to hold the apartment down till you come sha.

Student Visa… Dependent is here with me
Depends on what and how you seeing it - is it half empty or half full?

Please, don’t pay someone such ‘hoooge’ amount only to get on the job and your expectations are dashed allowing frustration and depression to set in.
It is not worth it.

Besides, there are other happiness-inducing routes to sponsorship.

For your dependants?
What visa category are you on that you can’t use same to bring your dependants in ?

Believe me, it’s getting easier compared to months and years back. Just keep researching. Also, approach directly those same places people are asking you to bring £8k or £10k, rather than thru intermediaries

Do you know that you can actually trace a vehicle, a vehicle driver or owner who has

- committed a hit and run on you or your car.
- driven off with your goods.
- stolen and abandoned a vehicle near you
- parked a vehicle on your property.
- driven off without paying for goods and services.
You ‘ll need the vehicle registration number for this on DVLA’s site.

And if your desire is to buy a car, especially used car, you can use ‘ask MID’ - to know an insured vehicle and the DVLA service to get detailed info about the car before buying.
Ask the seller for
the registration number
make of the car
model of the car
and MOT test number.

Either you desire to seek redress or make a buy decision; it’s simple, just head to DVLA’s website with the vehicle’s registration number, request info about the vehicle’s ‘registered keeper’, and use info gotten to seek redress or make an informed decision.

I blame those who get desperate and fall for such. When people say people don’t read again, this is one of such - information abound on the net but my people are still deeply engrossed in the ‘rat race’ at the lowest rung of the ladder.

Though, we all run the rat race, but e get different levels

It’s always a nightmare accessing these services from July to early March every year (though, there’s usually a month respite from late Oct to November)

Maybe because more Indians can access the UK through skilled worker visas so proportionally fewer bother to use the study visa route?
Definitely once Nigerians find the perfect hack to work visa - which only gained wider popularity late last year and early 2022 due to the HCA inclusion in the tier 2 route, the wide gap will be reduced and population won’t matter

After enjoying my wimpy burger, a thought crossed my mind .......... cheesy

UK residents, I hope you're all aware your energy bills (gas & electricity)...... Would be going up by 85% in sept/oct.........

Your energy bills are going up to £4500.00 per annum.......

What are your coping mechanisms, assuming the government does nothing in way of support........ wink
Austerity measures must be personalised by individuals and families in all forms in order to survive and have some change left as savings.

This reminds me of when BritishGas was playing funny with me. A flat on gas heater and boiler, their rep when setting up my account said fixed tariff is £170 but because of what I don’t know, he said he would put me on £83 / month. I accepted, thinking it was a good deal, only for me to take stock of all appliances in the house to know which uses what and realise I was being scammed.
Meanwhile, direct debit had only gone out for a month. I decided to call and renegotiate the tariff, the rep had a ‘slip of tongue’ and said my bill of £10 for the month had already been posted by mail (which I didn’t receive because it was not sent) - and they already collected £83 via DD
To cut the story short, tariff was changed and balance remained after deducting £10 from the £83
All in all, bills amount to about £100/month - electricity taking the bulk
