I do agree with you.
Nigeria organisations/Banks/Universities spend a fortune on buildings but it pains my heart that a lot of these buildings still looks pre 1960 residential buildings. An example is just going to the website of the private Universities with expensive large RC house looking libraries, they are not masterpieces but are still expensive.

As far as we keep allowing foreign Engineers to come and design our big challenging highway, bridge and Mall projects, we will never develop. Our Engineers needs to push the boundaries of Structural Engineering (I'm not talking about a Site Civil Engineer, their experience is needed as well as buildability is important as well) unless, we might never go beyond the basic RC column and beam square grid designs.

There are loads of Nigerian Structural Engineers practicing in the UK and USA who has enormous wealth of experience in designing world class structures; Energy from Waste Plants,Ship yards, distribution centres.I beg them to come home.

As a Structural engineer, I'm looking to start a design firm in Lagos next year as I have been opportuned by God's grace to have designed innovative and challenging structures such as bunkers, conveyor systems, Energy from waste plants. These are innovative out of the box structures.

For the Op saying He corrects Architects drawings,no Architect that is trained and professional will make the most basic rookie mistake of putting a sink to block the door, you might have been dealing with non experienced drafters.
Nigerian Engineers can Design anything. Believe me., at least the Competent ones.

By the way, I also design and Build Panic Rooms. We should talk.

Oga stop this your Dubai narrative.
The OP is wrong to assert that he has corrected many architectural drawings because they made those mistakes he highlighted above. The truth is there are design that are not economically doable or buildable due to materials or workmanship.

How do you achieve a 5m cantilever beam in a residential house carrying wall and roof load using reinforced concrete. there are simple design error associated with lack basic structural knowledge by the architect
It can be done. Very welldone. The question you should be asking is Can the Client pay for it? Can he afford it?

troubleshooter:
1st of all, the Hogwash u put up here shld be retitled 'MISTAKES DRAUGHTSMEN MAKE'.
If u are not a quack and truly a registered engineer (as u so claim) u Shld know better that this rubbish presentation is against ur COREN ethics of professional practice. An Architect is the head of a project team and u correct his drawings?!!!.... Under what moral authority?
Buildings are falling down all over lagos & u haven't deemed it fit to address that log in ur eye, rather u occupy urself with the vain pursuit of removing a speck in the eye of some profession u know nothing about.
Come to think of it, so u think this trash u put up equates to what is taught in 6yrs of architecture school?
With all ur hallowed experience u deem it fit that a 1metre setback is Better than the 3m as contained in building bye-laws? U are a wonder! Pity the ignorant public cld still applaud ur quackness.
Pple like u are the reason why we are where we are as a country. Jack of many trades, master of zilch.
You are the reason behind my decision to Log in.

I am also a Civil Engineer, Professionaly Licensed to Practice by COREN, and also a Corporate Member of the NSE.

Furthermore, I have Multiple masters Degrees in Both Housing Development and Information Technology.

More Imporatantly, I have years of experience in Infrastructure Planning, Engineering, Procurement and Construction.

The above should be enough credentials to validate anything I write from now.

No 1. An attitude of humility will take you a long way, I understand your pain, but you should at the least have addressed the message, not the messenger.

No 2. You have several Things confused, and I really dont blame you. I blame the arrogant ignorance taken for professional right that some people adopt in this Country. In this day and age, there is nothing like ''An Architect is the Head of the Project Team''. That statement is a fallacious carryover from the 60s and 70s.

Nowadays, The Architect can be the Lead of the Design Team, basically because his designs form the fundamental basis on which other Designers proceed, The Total, whole complete project is subject to the direction of a Project Manager...who is usually a Civil or Structural Engineer...(Most Projects in Dubai follow this model)

The point of correcting a drawing stems from the fact that that drawing is subject to practical reality which most Drafters fail to take into cognizance when creating plans and drawings. Professionally Trained Architects will never commit mistakes the OP pointed out, most of which
are commited by quacks, not real architects. So I agree with you on that Point.

But dont you think it is illogical of you to say ''An Architect is the Head of the Project Team'' and still in the same Breath indirectly Blame Engineers for the Buildings that are falling all over Lagos?....If Truly the Architect is the Head of the Project Teams on these Building Projects, shouldnt you logically Blame the Architects for the Buildings that are Falling all over Lagos?

The Imporatnt thing to note here is that Four Principal Things are responsible for Poor Infrastructure design or Construction( Buildings inclusive), and that is a Client who is a Cheapskate, an Incompetent Project Team, Thieving Artisans, and a Compromised government Development Control Unit.

An example of a Cheapskate Client are some people who come online on nairaland to obtain estimates for construction, then subject their construction team to that estimate, While this will work some of the Time, when this fails to work, the results can be financially disastrous. Always consult professionals, If you do not trust a particular professional, dont employ his services. It is not in your interest to alwys second guess him, thinking that heis out to rip you off. Personally I dont work with Cheapskate Clients, You either trust me or you dont.

It is Crucial that we focus on the message, not the messenger.
FamilyRe: Advice: My Father Didn't Train Me In The University, should I Forgive Him? by alpontif(m): 9:44am On Apr 07, 2016
Begin

Hello,

I must say there are some very very stupid people in this world.

There are some people, who have not even experienced a quarter of what you went through, but they are quick to condemn you and your decisions.

How many of you has a father that took no care of you?

What gave you the right to judge the morality and decision of someone completely abandoned by his father?

Do you have any idea what he went through?

Can you emphatize with the psychological torture of your father having money, refusing to invest in you, and spending such wealth on harlots?

Do you even understand what it means to feel abandoned?

Kind sirs, if you have not gone through the experience, stop preaching about biblical goodness of not retaliating, even a man and his wife were struck dead for not fully submitting their offering money....that happened in the new testament.

The best thing you could probably tell the guy in question is to try to forgive.

I will tell him that the best revenge is to succeed, and forgive him.

Take care of him, but never get close to him, or look to him for advice or counsel, people never change.

The reason why you should care for him is just about branding, not because its morally right.

It will not be proper for your public image if you are living well and your father is suffering, therefore for that reason, make sure he is living very well.

You can choose to forgive or not to forgive..Nobody can judge you, it won't stop your blessings.

But for Branding reasons, make sure he is living very fine.

End.

I stood at the bus stop that Saturday evening, dressed in my usual stare-stealing fashion, hoping to steal more than just stares from any man who fits into the specification of the catch I was after. It was 4pm, that time on Saturdays when any popular bus-stop in Lagos is more active than an anthill sprayed with sugar. But unlike the hordes of people around me, rushing about from weddings, visits or to and fro their businesses, I was directionless. I was not going anywhere, I was there to make a killing. And because of this, I stood as far apart from the crowd as possible to announce myself and my intentions to potential clientele.

In case you haven’t guessed yet, I am what most Lagos folk refer to as ‘runs girl’. Ugh, how I hate that term; very derogatory. What exactly are we ‘runsing’? It made one sound like some kind of fraudster. I am simply a girl ‘surviving’ In Nigeria’s harsh economic situation, and doing so with what God has blessed me with. If you ask me what my occupation is, I would simply respond ‘student’. You can call me that, not runs-girl.

My name is Kira, actually Shakirat but it had been cool when I was a teen to shorten it down to Kira; that was before Shakira made the name ‘Behind’. Yes, I am no longer a fresh young thing, I was already a teenager before Shakira blew.

So there I was at the bus-stop awaiting my latest catch, trying hard not to let my face scrunch up in depression as I did. It was getting more and more difficult for me to find new catches these days, and even my regular blokes seemed to be getting stingier by the day. Blame it on ‘change’. The country’s worsened economy was hitting everyone hard, and I was not left out. You ask, how? See ehn, it’s only natural that if the men who take care of me are affected by the economy, I will be affected too.
I have been standing at this bus-stop for almost an hour now, and not even one of the fancy cars that had passed by had faltered in front of me, not to even talk of stopping. And to make matters worse, there was nothing to shield me from the still harsh rays of the sun where I stood and the heels of my imitation Louboutins were killing the soles of my feet.

O God, is it that the naira devaluation has affected the brains of men now that they no longer think of sex? I moaned to myself.

Naira devaluation, naira devaluation. It was on everyone’s lips everywhere I turned; the boutique owner on my street, the taxi driver, the meat seller, even the shoemaker I had called this money to spray the tiny peeling part of my shoe. Dollar don cost, dollar don cost, was all they kept saying. Even my oil company boyfriend, actually one of my magas (I know he’s married even though he would never admit it) had given me just N25,000 the last time I went to PH to see him. ‘Baby, you know the dollar has gone up, and fuel prices have come down. Things are really tough for us in the Oil sector now,” had been his excuse. He hadn’t even paid for my flight back; I had to take a bus!

And now here I am, roasting here, trying to…

“Kai, mata…ina uni?” A thickly accented Hausa voice broke into my thoughts, I turned round to view a short man standing behind me. His countenance, clothes and speech clearly identified him as a Northerner. I knew he must be one of those bureau-de-change mallams that had their post not far from the bus-stop and always scouted for people who wanted to change currencies. ‘I no change dollar,” I dismissed him and turned back.

But he did not go away. “Kai, mata…you fine well well…Walahi…I like you”

My pursed lips let out a pissed hiss and I made to put some yards between his person and mine. Shey iru e lon so? I thought to myself in Yoruba. How much could he possibly earn from his dollar-changing business to think he could talk to a posh babe like me…? I stopped in my tracks. Dollar?! But that is in the in thing in town. I spun back to the mallam and my hitherto foul expression transformed to smiles.

“How you dey?”

The smile gave him the green light to come closer. “Kai mata, you yallow well well, kai, just like my mama,” he gushed. “I like am.”

A quick look around reassured me that no one was paying us any attention, so I turned on the pidgin-speaking of myself. “Me too I like you, but you go fit take care of me?”

“Yowa! Me I go take care of you well well. Me and you like this…” he joined the forefingers of his hands together, expressing intimacy. “…me give you money fala-fala.”

“You go give me dollar?”

“Ah walahi, no froblem. For here dem dey call am for me Alhaji Dollar-Dollar. Me get am for dollar plenty penty. I go give you.”

That sealed it. I let him lead me away from the bus stop. He almost looked like a midget beside my tall and heeled frame. This Alhaji Dollar-Dollar, as he addressed himself was no time-waster. He led me to a place that turned out to be a ‘codedly’ hidden brothel. Apparently these bureau-de-change mallams patronized the place to ease their lust whenever the need arose. I was faintly disgusted, I was not a girl to come to this kind of a place on a good day. All my runs are clean runs, I don’t do this kind of dirty parole, but the thought of the dollar the Alhaji had promised me suppressed my disgust. A girl had to get her hands dirty once in a while if necessary.

Alhaji Dollar-Dollar disrobed. I was shocked to see the size and look of the instrument on the midget, and shuddered and at the ugly thought of that going into me…but again, a girl has to do what a girl has to do…

"Daddy"
"Yes, Son. What can I do for you?"
"I'm tired of heaven. I want to go to Earth"

Jesus and Yahweh were walking through the Garden of Nede, on the south side of Apostle's Gate, Heaven. Like everyday in eternity, nothing had changed. Jesus and his Father continued to look ageless. Angel Gabriel and Michael were dutifully attending to the lawns while Angel Pako swept the streets of gold.

"I have told you before, Son. They broke my heart. Why would you want to go there?", Yahweh asked his Son, who was a carbon copy of himself.

From the air came a third voice, the Holy Spirit. He was formless and had no shape.

"I have a suggestion, Sirs", he said, a slight breeze blowing past as he spoke.

A look of curiosity spread across Yahweh's face. After a pause(which is like a miniminiminiminiminiminipause in eternity),he spoke..
"Tell us, we're all ears"

"Well, remember the promises you gave to your Son David, father of Solomon, the Wisest. I think it's time you kept it."

"But how, HS, how? It's impossible for me to forgive them. They will have to slaughter goats and cows for the rest of their life if they do not want my anger to rise against them. I gave that promise to men who loved me, and cherished me. Men who were ready to slaughter on my behalf. Men who kept my commands and made sure everyone followed them. You remember Moses? He bleeped up. I made sure He didn't make the Promised Land. David went and slept with that other woman, what's her name, that one he saw bathing, yes, BATHsheba.. From bathroom to bedroom, imagine, I had to kill his Son to teach him a lesson. Humans aren't worth it, they are waste of time. I regret making them.."

A tense silence enveloped them.

"There's a way to fix this, Lord." the Holy Spirit whispers...

"How?", Yahweh and Jesus turn to him, eyes opening in shock.

"One of us Has to die. One has to be The Sacrifice"
You can develop this into a novel...and IT will Sell. Infact, I can help you handle all the publishing, marketing and sales..you dont have to spend a dime, just send me your manuscript.

People like the OP are the reason why Nigeria has such a Bad name internationally.

This is classic cybersquating, hijacking and attempting to reap where you did not sow.

Will you have used face, if there was no facebook?

why cant you come up with your own totally original name, eg olodo.com and work hard to build the brand?

why will you have to attempt to use the facebook brand to build your own business, and then claim facebook is trying to bully you when they want to treat your fuckup....?

It is well.

Hello,

There are creative ways of boosting FDi, but let us hear your views first.

As a contribution, let me tell you about a startup I just Founded that can help increase FDi into Nigeria.

The Company Focuses on Nigerians in Daispora, it helps them do anything related to design and construction, purchase and management, verification and documentation of Real Estate at any location in Nigeria, in a structured way that protects their money, gives them a way to track the project progress at a cost that is affordable.

The remittance of the Nigerian Diaspora per year averages 21 Billion dollars , thats a huge percentage of our FDi. 10 PERCENT OF THAT money is spent on Housing and Real Estate........That means the Niche my company is Targeting is worth 2.1 Billion Dollars per year.

Overall success in executing this business model will mean further expansion of the market from the 2.1 billion dollar valuation to larger chunks of the remittance figure..............Thats structured FDi inflow one.

We are also going to expand into Botswana and Kenya, (due to certain very interesting data) and other African countries to serve their diasporan populace.......This means Revenue will be generated from serving these Markets and remitted back to our Head quarters in Nigeria.......that is another Structured FDi inflow into Nigeria..........

It even gets way more interesting if you have access to the data and analysis I have..........so there are creative ways of increasing inflow into the Country.

my startup's website is www.artizanniltd.com.

I am also working on another Startup that will also increase FDi into the Country....

This is about Crowdlending........not Crowdfunding.

There is no crowdlending platform in Nigeria, due to lack of any credit rating system like you have in developed countries, but you'll discover that a lot of people have funds residing in savings accounts with banks in Nigeria that is losing value daily as the Naira slides down further.

Crowdlending is a way to make your money work for you at no risk, while yielding interest rates that is way higher than what the bank savings account will give you.

The idea abou the Croedlending model for Ngeria is to make it possible for People in Nigeria to lend money to anybody around the world( anybody with an acceptable credit rating, typically from developed countries ). No need for any collateral, once the credit rating is acceptable...no problem.

The currency on this platform will be the Naira. That is if you live in the UK and you want to borrow money from our platform, you have to borrow in Naira. This will create a demand for the Naira, bringing up its value versus any other currency, and the associated interest payments will also lead to an increase in FDi for the country..

That is just the gist behind the whole thing, its way more refined and developed than is explained here..but I hope you get the gist.

The other variant of this crowdlending idea is to focus specifically on vehicle financing and property development..In this model, Nigerians will lend to Nigerians in an asset backed lending system..eg. you need a loan for a 1 Million Naira car, you ll come to the platform, choose the specifics of the car you want, get its cost, you ll drop a 100,000 deposit, the crowd lends you 900k, at an interest rate you specify, we get you the car, insure and track it, and expect you to start paying back according to the amortization schedule, you miss a payment, you get a warning, you miss another, we impound the car. No Stories.

This is the strategy you can start with #5000 and make #200,000 on your first week

max stake means bet all your money ie. everything in your nairabet or merrybet account

you will play only 3 matches a day

1 morning
1 afternoon
1 night

the minimum odd is 1.20 this means x1.20(morning) x1.20 (afternoon) and x1.20(night)

you must observe carefully before you finally stake, use strong teams like Abuja Stars or Lagos stars or Kaduna for MERRYBET

for NAIRABET use Lagos OR Aba lions or Nwei

This is the Awesone magic

1ST DAY
morning #5000 x 1.20 =#6000
after noon #6000 x1.20 = 7#200
night #7200 x1.20 = #8640

2ND DAY
morning #8640 x 1.20 =#10368
after noon #10368 x1.20 = #12441.6
night #12441.6 x1.20 = #14929.92

3RD DAY
morning 14929.92 x 1.20 =#17915
after noon 17915 x1.20 = #21499
night 21499 x1.20 = #25798

4TH DAY
morning 25798 x 1.20 =#30958
after noon 30958 x1.20 = #37150
night 37150 x1.20 = #44580

5TH DAY
morning #44580 x 1.20 =#53496
after noon #53496 x1.20 = #64195
night #64195 x1.20 = #77035

6TH DAY
morning #77035 x 1.20 =#92442
after noon #92442 x1.20 = #110930
night #110930 x1.20 = #133116

7TH DAY
morning #133116 x 1.20 =#159739
after noon #159739 x1.20 = #191687
night #191687 x1.20 = #230025

7days = 1week =#230k -5k profit #225k
you work only 3hours 1hr morning same afternoon and night
all you have to do is stake 1 match

i no longer play morning afternoon and night i only play once or twice a day

i stake #500k for over 1.5 with the indicator and once i win i redraw my profit study the game carefully or use an indicator for best result

i lost so much until i discovered the awesome magic strategy
i have lost only once and that was when i was trying to stake by my self i almost died of heart break because i was up to 700k then an i lost every thing it took me 2week to recover the 700k back with 5k

please please please i have shared enough info already am not selfish and i will be happy if you are rich as well please make sure you stake carefully!!!!!! it hurt when you lose on the 7th or 14th day

better still use the realnaps indicator i told you of atleast you are 1000% sure i have not lost for almost a month now if this continues all through this year merry bet might call me for an interveiw cool just kiddin good luck every one
Do you accept money from investors?.....Can you manage and invest with other's money?
RomanceRe: Help! How Can I Be Happy Without My Boyfriend by alpontif(m): 5:41pm On Jan 14, 2016
Hello,

Matters of affection don't make sense most of the time. It goes against logic to still be in love with someone that hurts you on a persistent basis.

It's almost like you have a Stockholm syndrome thing.

This is the way forward: You need to cut him out of your life.

It's not going to be easy , coz you love him.

The first time I allowed myself to fall in love with a babe, I also felt the you did.

I loved the babe, I still love her, but her way is not pure, she is young, sexy, and wants to enjoy life...which includes multiple men, all over the place.

As a guy man, it shocked me that I could fall in love with such a babe, I tried to change her, she was far too gone. On a normal day, I won't care. But I love this babe enough that I wanted to marry her, inspite of all the crazy things I know about her.

But she wouldn't change.

This is where common sense came in. I ended things with her, and I moved on.

The point is the fact that you love someone does not mean you can be with that person, or have a relationship with that person. They may not be good for your life.

It is left to you to take a painful decision, and move on......inspite of how much you love the person.

It wouldn't be easy, you will think of the person always......but over time you are going to get over the person.

The consequences of not leaving a relationship where you are not okay with the behaviour of your partner includes been taken for granted, domestic abuse, and death or divorce.

Woman up. Move on. Be sensible.

Hello,

Inspite of what anyone will want you to believe, know that the Underlisted are Facts in Nigeria concerning abortion.:

1. 95 Percent of all sexually active unmarried women in Nigeria have aborted at a point in their life.

2. at least 68 percent of all sexually active Men in Nigeria have paid for an abortion at a point in their lifetime

3. There are no angels in relationship issues anymore, you hvae to accept people the way they are, including their history.

4. If you think statement Number 1 is not a fact, kindly recall all the ladies you have ever met, analyse their sex life, find out the percentages , then you will know whats up.

5. Stop setting unrealistic criterias to judge women before you marry them, it is better that they tell you the bitter truth, because if she doesnt, you have been lied to, as long as you did not meet her as a virgin.

Some people are asserting here that Nigerian graduates from most Nigerian universities are Unemployable.

They have a point. But that doesn't mean foreign trained graduates are better.

It's all about the value you can add to any organisation. Before you go for an interview. Put yourself in the CEO's shoes, if you were in his position, will you be able to employ somebody like you?...Why?

The answer to the why is the reason why you will pass or fail an interview.

Guys, fork the grade you come out with, especially in Engineering. Employers are much more concerned about your Skills. Design Skills , Construction skills , Problem solving skills, management skills. You have got to be able to start adding certain precise values to the organization immediately. Most companies don't do graduate trainee stuff.

So, what do you do while you are still in school?

I ll tell you what I did.

By my 200 level, I knew I don't want to put in the hard work it will take to get a first class or a 2.1.

I knew that if I am not even serious at all, in any way, I will still make a 2.2.hell!, before my set, no one in my department has ever made a first class. The department only produced one three sets after my set.

So I settled on getting a 2.2. So I skipped classes, skipped assignments, missed tests etc. I had a lot of free time. But there was a method to my madness.

Even though you will rarely see me in class, I was always at the library, reading...not studying.

What was I reading? I never read my my Course materials until usually 3 weeks to the exam. By that time , I will have photocopied class notes, and gotten past questions and solutions.

So what do I read in the library then?. I read everything. From newspapers, to journals, to novels, to materials from other fields of knowledge. I know enough about economics for you to think I have an MBA, I know about the arts, from the renaissance to the contemporary, I can discuss the politics and finance of most governments, astronomy and other fields of knowledge is familiar to me. Ancient literature and modernist Architecture is no biggie to me.

In short, I became very very very well informed. The only thing I may not converse on intelligently is football, and that's because I don't follow or watch it.

At the same time as I was doing all this, I made sure I did internships where I can get skills, fork money. I got envied software skills, I got practical engineering training, I got rare softwares.

By my 500 level, I was the goto guy on design softwares in my department. Even my lecturers dey consult me.

This meant that by the time I graduated, I had what most employers wanted. I had the technical skills, I am educated in the real sense of it. I could fit into any organisation, and I was always thinking.

By this time also, I have had like at least 200 connections on LinkedIn. This was when most working professionals in Nigeria do not even know what it is,not to talk of students.

By this time I am already familiar with the wall street journal, Harvard business review, Global finance etc, and can educate you profusely on derivatives or hedge funds....etc.

But I had a 2.2, but has that stopped me? No.

Why?.. Because I add value to my employers. Instantly. No long thing.

Someone like me doesn't look for jobs. You identify a company, you identify a problem they are facing, or you create an improved version of the solution, you identify a key decision maker, you connect on LinkedIn, you package the solution, you send it via dhl, you get a sit down interview with the person, you discuss a consulting gig, they won't let you go, you get a job.

Fork grades.

The important thing is know how to add value, that is what they will pay you for.

But if you can, please make very good grades.

Eg, You may find it hard to make it into Harvard business school or MIT Sloan if you don't have a first class.

It is crucial.

The education system has collapsed in Nigeria, graduates are only employable if they develop themselves. Not by what they learned or failed to learn in the standard school curriculum.

I have interview several candidates who do not know how to use common AutoCAD. Tell me, who will employ you.

Point is don't wait for the school to empower you. Empower yourself by getting the skills, by brushing up yourself, by been informed.

That will make you stand out, and employable.

EducationRe: Someone Please Help Me Before I Kill Myself by alpontif(m): 9:48am On Dec 28, 2015
At OP,

You don't have to kill yourself. Just Relax.

I remember my 100 level result. It was beyond disastrous, though I had no carryovers. Actually I never had any carryover while in school.

That 100 level result was very fundamental in changing how I look at life. Prior that period, I had never performed below expectations in any exam. But getting disastrous 100 level results changed my perspective on things.

I had studied, I was religious, I was morally "clean", I avoided doing bas things, but the result was still terrible.

Like you, I wanted to commit suicide.

I didn't.

What I did was this.

I rearranged my priorities. I just stopped giving a fork.

I skipped classes, I only read 3 weeks to the exam. I stopped been religious. I became more spiritual.

I focused on Skills. Skills I can use after graduation. Skills I can use to make money in school.

I focused on entrepreneurship skills.

The result?

From 200 level, inspite of my unseriousness, principally through God's grace, my CGPA kept rising, and rising, and rising, assuming I was serious, I could have made a 2.1, assuming I was completely dedicated, I could have made a first.

I never paid anybody for any course. I just stopped giving a fork. As long as I don't fail, I didn't care what the gp is. I have spent only 10 minutes on a 3 hour exam before, coz I had memory block...I just walked out. I didn't care.

You have to let go. You have to understand your priorities. Focus more on tangible skills. Focus more on what you can do for others, because that is what they will pay you for.

You don't have to kill yourself. You have not failed. But you need to relax. You need to let go. That is when God will show you he is there for you.

Nobody gets anywhere principally by their own efforts. Inspite of what motivational speakers will tell you. The universe has to conspire to help you. God has to be on your team, not because you merit it, not because of your seeding, but because he loves you.

And inspite of your present frustrating realities, know that God really really loves you. God can do anything for you.

Just stop giving a fork, let God take over.

I still don't understand all you people that are justifying cowardicial indecision with orders from your superiors.

What is right is right.

I am a Civil Engineer, and I have several times gone against the orders of my superiors when designing or Constructing in order to arrive at the safest and best solution on projects.

The worst thing they can do is sack you.

But if you fail to do the right thing, and a disaster happens....you cannot say you are not responsible, because you could have made a difference.

I have several Doctor friends, and these guys are totally dedicated to their patients. They will be ashamed to identify the OP as a colleague.

The gullible and the deceived resort to appealing to religious faith when they need an excuse to believe irrational things.
Hello,

I have been following your reasoning. I enjoy intellectual gymnastics a lot, especially on points of religion. Your reasoning makes perfect sense.

But I want you to have an open mind, can you do that?

Your opponent may not be able to have an open mind, because he is always refering to the bible to back up his points. He is afraid of arriving at the truth using his brain, independent of any scripture.

Now can you have an open mind?

Thank you.

See, God Exists.

I cannot prove that to you using classical rules of Socratic logic.

It goes against all logical reasoning, any attempt to use logic here will usually end in contradictions.

There are two basic ways of believing any concept.

1. Via Socratic logic.

Or

2. Via Experiential Logic.

Socratic logic is based on valid premises, which leads to provable conclusions.

Experiential logic is based solely on individual experience, that cannot be demonstrated validly to third parties that do not go through the same experience.

Scientific facts are based on Socratic logic.

The dream you dreamt last night is based on experiential logic.

You can replicate and demonstrate scientific facts.

You cannot show the dream you dreamth to another person. You can only explain to them, and they are not obligated to believe you.

But the fact that they do not believe you does not mean that you did not have that dream...does it?

That is the whole point about God, the nature of God, the scriptures or any religious concept. You are not obliged to believe it. But your disbelief and the impossibility of demonstrating these points does not mean it is untrue.

It follows that we must all follow our own path to enlightenment, nobody can lead you there.

But having an open mind helps.

Do you understand me?
HealthRe: My Bitter Experience As A Doctor Today by alpontif(m): 10:15pm On Dec 26, 2015
The OP should accept responsibility. Psychologically speaking, you posted this article because your conscience is truly judging you that you did not give your best.

You want to pass the blame to your Oga, and hide under "orders" from above for plain cowardice to do the right thing.

Heroes are made in impossible situations.

You have no consolation from me. It is your fault that some died. You could have made a difference.

You are a big disappointment to the profession, and humanity.
PoliticsRe: It Is A Class War silly! By Joseph Edgar by alpontif(m): 8:35pm On Dec 26, 2015
I am sad that the OP posted this article. Not because it is untrue, but because posting it on this forum is like throwing pearls before Pigs. Most will not understand it. Some will take sides. Some will say the OP is completely wrong. Very few will understand that what the OP posted is the Gospel truth.

It has always been a Class war. An elitist affair. Strictly exclusive. Limited membership accessible via elitist education in the best schools.

Let me paint you the picture.

The typical elite in Nigeria send their Kids to King's College, Corona , Eton College and other boarding schools in the UK, Switzerland or New England.

These kids proceed almost automatically to Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Imperial College.

From there they get into top Firms like Goldman Sachs , Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, Accenture, KPMG, PWC, McKinsey etc.

This sets them up for credible entry into Power in Nigeria, because by this time, they have the connections both local and international, they have the academic pedigree, they have experience, and they have Strong family names to open. Doors for them.

The elite are not tribalistic. The masses are. It is only success that they use to discriminate, not your tribe, your religion, your sex, or what you believe .

Class elitism is all about Power and influence. Which is amoral.

If you still do not understand by this time that is a class struggle, your children will in some years time still come online on a forum lime this, and take your position.

The class struggle is real. It cuts you out of accessing opportunities, and they can prove that you are not qualified to take those opportunities.

Some companies state that they only accept applications from foreing trained individuals.

Some companies only award projects and business opportunities to people who have contacts in government and contacts abroad.

A word is enough for the wise.

Get proper education.
FamilyRe: My Husband Has Idolised Me And Now I'm Fed Up. Need Help by alpontif(m): 12:33pm On Nov 26, 2015
What this young woman needs is just some ''DRAMA''..to spice things up. You know, the marriage seems too boring for her, nothing thrilling is happening.

This is what I will suggest:

1. Let the man start womanizing.

2. Let him show his dictatorial tendencies.

3. He should start treating her like the housemaid.

4. He should just stop giving a damn about the ''idolized'' wife.

Once your husband does the above, he will stop commiting idolatry through you...

OR is that not what you want?
