So many topics to discuss on this thread but please can we discuss the PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM.

Most Naija parents feel they get quality education cheaply here which mostly is not the case.
I am a secondary school maths teacher and I weep for these children. Lack of motivation, apathy, to mention a few.

Asides creating a safe and enabling environment for students to learn, PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN UK AREN'T ANY DIFFERENT FROM THOSE IN NIGERIA.

Parents need to be more involved in their children's education.
Pls I need your humble advice..what course in education helps in getting a job faster as a teacher..

Am presently a teacher in Naija with Lagos state
TravelRe: Parenting In The UK As A Nigerian Migrant. by amanonymous(m): 2:23pm On Jan 21, 2023
Wow wow wow!!!..

I stumbled on this thread yesterday. I have been looking for a thread that specifically talks about living in Scotland as a studen. Have not been able to leave this thread cause it's been so educative. I have feeling it solves all my unanswered question.

Please I need your honest advise and reply..
I am a basic teacher here in Niaja..I am employed by Lagos state, but to be sincere I don't understand how the salary can't even cater for a family of four for two weeks, its been same thing happening every month, our economy here is so terrible,.me and wife agreed to relocate ..

I learnt that Uk are looking for teachers presently.

This re my questions ..

1.is it advisable to take on an MSC In education ,would this boost my chances of getting a permanent job as a teacher .

2.I watched a guy on you tube, who lives in Scotland and he said the best three courses that enables you get a job almost immediately are public health ,I.T,Engineering. Education wasn't included so am concerned.

3.Lastly,can I apply for public health for my MSC despite the fact that I read political science education in my first degree?.

4 which school is the best school to apply In Scotland based on fee, environment, good public school for kids and getting a permanent job afterwards?

Thanks for reply

School is not every day. Who takes care of them after school ?... The bone of contention is, you have £12,900 deficit... how do you want to pay that if you need to devote time for the kids, having in mind being young, they cannot be left at home alone.... You seem not to understand your 20 hours per week will hardly pay house rent, major responsibilities will be on your dependant (your wife) and she need to give in her 110%, go the extra mile, and I still doubt you guys will still be able to meet up with all the bills....

You really think there's a Job that will allow ur wife to save £1,000 per month ? You still said there's option of "she have to pick the kids every closing hour"... You better have close to full tuition fee before you embark on the journey....

Did you also check your school's fee payment schedule ?

I wonder how you think its possible for your wife to do 2 to 3 jobs with kids on ground...

You need to widen your search to get access to someone living in Scotland to better enlighten you more on situation on ground....
Thanks

I would get through to their student union

And more so , my wife's mum lives in London doe she asnt gotten her papers yet. ..we could drop the kid and pay her for been with them

The fact they're not old enough is even more reason why you have to let them stay....
Anyone advising you to take them, ask that person how feasible it is to work and pay £12,900 school fees within a year coupled with house rent, you and children feeding, clothing, and miscellaneous.....

Kindly note there presence will also reduce the amount of time either you or the mother can work...
I was just been told primary school education is free for children especially in dundee..

The only clause my partner must pick them closing ours

Let me use this word "forbidden"
Yes, thats how serious it is not to take kids along if you are not financially buoyant enough....
My kids aren't that old enough. I don't think i can leave them except am going alone which doesn't help, in terms of partner having more hours to work to support financially

I was told Scotland is less expensive than outside London especially for a family
TravelRe: Advice To Every UK Japa Crew by amanonymous(m): 11:08am On Jan 18, 2023
alphabbey1:
First and most important of all, don't make the mistake of bringing your kids along with you. Take only you and your wife and let the kids be with your parent.... People that cannot afford full tuition fee have no business travelling with kids....
It is also advisable you have 50% of tuition fee before you embark on this journey, without this, you will only be setting yourself for the worst experience and might lead to your coming back home....

Whatever information u need about Scotland and Dundee University, search it on YouTube and check its comment section that's where your answer lies.... and which ever country you go, as far as its not Africa, Dubai, Turkey, Cyprus, East Europe, and some other God forsaken countries, you will be fine....
Thanks so much for your reply ..Are you saying its not feasible, taking my kids along ?.
TravelRe: Advice To Every UK Japa Crew by amanonymous(m): 2:11am On Jan 18, 2023
Good morning guys ..

Please what's your advice.

Am a Lagos state teacher with a family of four.Even with the job,it as not been able to cater for my family monthly and its tiring,so there's no point.I embark on taking up my masters in Education to give me a better chance of securing a teaching job in the UK and more so, I learnt UK would be looking for qualified teachers soon and Nigeria is one of the qualified countries too.
Am working with an agent (ahzassociates), and they made me understood that a school like Dundee in scotland would give me room to breath (3k first payment for tuition which also gives me my Cas out of 15900k) by not asking 50℅ proof of funds on enrolment, unlike other schools outside London who request for 50% Pof at enrollment. I am skeptical about Dundee, based on the fact that i learnt they spend Scottish pounds which is a lower to British pounds and also its always cold over there than UK.

What re the chances of getting jobs and living a better life with opportunities, family ,and life after school between Scotland and outside London?

Please I need your sincere advise guys ..

Sorry if I made any typographical errors.

Hello,

There's no way to say for sure. Your circumstances have changed but I'm not sure how significantly.

Does your employer pay well? How much are you paid?
Do you have any property, investments, businesses in Nigeria?
I'm not sure if this year is feasible as the interview dates are in 2024.
Is your wife also gainfully employed? Many people have a wife and family and still abscond while sending money home. So, it's important to also show strong financial and productivity ties.
Have you gone anywhere else apart from South Africa?
Than ok so much .Amelia T
Thanks so much Amelia T

Your circumstances have changed so yes you can go for an interview. However, its a 50/50 based on your lack of travel experience.
Thanks so much Megatsu.
If an available date is visible..i would go for it

I applied for b2 visa 2016.i was denied bcs i believe my ds160 wasnt filled correctly i rushed it .
Secondly i didnt take my time i was so eager to book my appointment
I filled the whole form between 2 hours ,hence there was no correlation in my day of arriival and day of interview
( no mind me jare,i was a novice then)
I was given a blue paper which stated i should come back when my circumstances as changed.(cant really remember word for word jare) smiles..

2017 i travelled to johannesburg.i spent two weeks on the trip,i logged at protea hotel
2020 i got married i have a kid now
2020 i also got a job with lagos state
Am still on the job

I intend to go on a visit to the states.later this year.
I am not goin with my family in other to show intents of coming back.

Based on my story ,as my circumstances severely changed?

What re my chances?
I await your honest opinion

Please i want to get this off my mind,i need your views and opinions on this.

Is it a necessity to write toefl and gmat exams for a low gpa or second class lower?
Am trying to avoid writing this exams cause,i learnt people do fail this exams.
Am trying to look out for a school that dosent need this exams
Can i get a name of a school please.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by amanonymous(m): 9:48am On Jan 06, 2022
TheSociopath:
Hi, I always advise people with low CGPA to do the following:
1. Do WES evaluation, i.e., convert your grades to American standard (/4.0)
2. Write TOEFL and GRE/GMAT and obtain very good scores (this shows that you're ready for graduate school, you set aside months to prepare for these exams)
3. Research on schools that accept low CGPA like 2.75/4.00 (remember you must do WES evaluation to know your grade /4.0). For example, APSU.

Best of luck bro
Does it mean.you cant apply with this gpa and get the visa and i feel Nigeria an anglophone country is toefil still needed

it is always interesting reading peoples transcript its been so educative and gives u time to educate your self. its only gets difficult and fuzzy when you intend to mis interprete . i applied 2016 and i was not given. i almost got eager to reapply and I was advised to give it time in order words use it to buy ur self more ties. there was a message that kept popping on ma head. "come back when ur circumstances as changed.! i gave it time as advised by gurus and bit by bit av been building my strong ties to my home country and also travel history. .its came to my surprise unconsciously that my circumstances as highly changed from my first application. my advice with the little time here goes thus. no 1 America visa is not a do or die affair once u have thatv@ the back of ur mind its kills a lil nervousness. secondly dont mis interprete bcs u want to get a visa it might not work to ur favour. lastly take ur time to plan your travel plans, dont be in a haste. smiles i would love to re apply once again at the end of the year.by then i would be applying with my sweet newly potatoes. Truth be said am goin to just enjoy d all process and not gonna put all my hopes on gettin d visa doe one needs to be positive. the koko is ur comportability at the interview and how u can truly convince the v.o that uarent an intending immigrants because that is the way there see everyone . sorry to say sometimes i do feel d first experience is a blessing in disguise if u get what i mean. all u need is in dis thread take ur tine and study. i am still goin to go to all the threads i missed last year to learn from peoples transcript smiles. lastly put all in Gods hand no be by ur ties and smartness alone o .na baba God. i hope dis lil write up helps newbies who re so anxious in gettin d visa . chao N.B ladyG who was my greatest critic lol bxk den .how u see my articles. hope i don learn small from u guys smileyit is always interesting reading peoples transcript i peoples transcript smiles. lastly put all in Gods hand no be by ur ties and smartness alone o .na baba God. i hope dis lil write up helps someone
