sontung: My erudite Prof. I envy your height in the world of economics. This is a subject you know too well. If we were to tell ourselves the truth you will be a permanent adviser on economics to AGIP(Any Government In Power). However nobody is an encyclopaedia or cornucopia of knowledge, no wonder you may not be too good in Geography. Port Harcourt is located outside the geographical entities occupied by the Igbos. They acquired from the indigenous settlers mainly the Ikwerres any landed property they own in Port Harcourt. You may ask me, 'Who are the Ikwerres?' I have personally asked people, my dad whom I think would tell me the gospel truth about my ethnic identity, my grandmother who was an Igbo woman if Ikwerre were at any time considered Igbos. My grandmum told me Ikwerres are not Igbos. She however said they shared a lot in common. My dad said they were never Igbos before and after the war. He continued that before the war the intimidation of the Igbos in Port Harcourt was so much that the average Ikwerre man risk being killed to disagree he was an Igbo man. He mentioned prominent Ikwerre men killed by the Igbos to serve as scapegoats or deterrent to anyone who would disagree. You may take this testimony with a pinch of salt. I would crave your indulgence to also peruse below how the British found Southern Nigeria Protectorate more than 100 years ago. Please pay attention to the languages spoken in Southern Nigeria. For emphasis sake you'll find Ibo language along side Ikwerre.

HopeAtHand: I had to point out the bolded because you claim yorubas do not care about Nigeria while in earnest, the unity of Nigeria is critcal to Yoruba economic agenda both now and in future.
Im of the school of thought that Nigerias status quo is very neccesary for the continous rapid development of Yorubaland and Yorubas will give anything, even blackmail of other ethnicities and tribes so as to maintain same.
Yorubas are the economic beneficiaries of Nigerias flawed federal setup, they are primely placed to milk to its fullest the flaws of our federal system that empowers Lagos to rip-off other regions of the fruits of their resources especially the oil bearing ones and making Ogun and Oyo to benefit from its overflow. The policies that favours Lagos and impoverishes other states by the coast, the policies that makes states have liason offices in Lagos, policies that ensure federal parastatals and agencies are situated in lagos and other systemic means of undoing others are well planned and executed by Yorubas to ensure they benefit the most from the imbalance and lopsideness.
I know you will prolly feign ignorance but as a yoruba,, you will find ways to rationalise the criminal undoing of other tribes because it benefits you. you have a very big point here.. One Nigeria is favouring Lagos. |

meolaniyi: Useless group. Yoruba is not your problem. Your problem is education and too much of crude oil in what you eat. Bunch of militants.
The worst you can do is bomb the pipe lines which will leak and inter in the water and food you drink which damages your brain. No wonder you guys can not pass any exam.
IPOB is brainwashing you lots. They have taken over your cities and you are hear fighting the only tribe that saved you during the war in the hands of Igbos.
You guys should get sense small. you saved them, thats why Obasanjo gave out Bakassi to cameroon? Or thats why the Odi massacre in bayelsa happened in his regime and at his command OR thats why the Oil companies headquaterz are in Lagos? What a saving. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do You Go To Your Church? by Amarabae(f): 11:22am On Jul 16, 2017 |
I am a Proud Methodist. I attend the church because 1. Its foundation is strong and godly. 2. It blend Othordoxism with Pentecostalism. 3. Jesus is our method. 4. The founding fathers John and Charles Wesley were Gods Generals. 5. The Hymns are heavenly. 6. The Orderliness in both the hierachy and structure of the Church. 7. Its vibrancy and spiritual sound.
