South East Security: Anambra to Host Regional Security Management Course. Anambra State Government in conjunction with Centre for Leadership and Complex Military Operations (Nigerian Defense Academy) is organizing a workshop for select Security officials and other stakeholders in the Security Sector on Senior Security Management Course. Security is a top pillar of the Governor Willie Obiano led Anambra State Government which was the reason behind the huge successes recorded in the Security of lives and properties of Ndi Anambra. Firstly, he convoked the Anambra Security Summit wherein he brought in Israeli Security Experts and later the South East and Delta States Security Summit. Today, Anambra is the SAFEST state in Nigeria as echoed by Chiefs of Security Agencies in Nigeria. In furtherance to this therefore, Anambra State will be hosting the SOUTHEAST REGIONAL SECURITY MANAGEMENT COURSE (SERMC) for officers and men of Security Agencies and other stakeholders in the zone According to information obtained from the Office of the Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Hon.Nwabufo Nwankwo said, the summit will hold between 26th and 29th November, 2018 at The Finotel Classique Hotels, Awka. Hon. Nwankwo opined that Anambra as a shining light in the Security Sector in Nigeria is ready for this all important Security Management Course. 'Anambra has so proved to have working formations for combating crimes and criminality. This feat had availed the state the status of Safest state in Nigeria and afforded the Governor the rear opportunity of winning the Best Governor on Security for West and Central Africa held in Banjul, Gambia and organised by the Africa Security Watch Group' he concluded.

GOVERNOR OBIANO PAYS UNSCHEDULED VISIT TO UMUOMAKU- ENUGWU UMUONYI ACHINA ROAD. BY EJIKE ABANA Governor Willie Obiano has paid inspection visit to ongoing Umuomaku-Enugwu Umuonyia Achina Road with a Bridge, promising to complete the road and bridge by the end of January next year. At the site, steel work and reinforcement is ongoing. About 1.5 kilometer of asphalt has been completed, 2.5 kilometer drainage done.

United Nations Signs Media Partnership Agreement With Broadcasting Service (ABS) By Ejike Abana The United Nations today (Wednesday, November 21, 2018) signed a media partnership agreement with the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS). Special Representative of United Nations Secretary-General (SPRG) for West Africa and the Sahel, Mr Mohamed Chambers said the media partnership agreement requires ABS to produce and broadcast weekly in Igbo language programmes that will help sensitize and educate the public about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). On his part, Governor Willie Obiano thanked the UN mission in Nigeria for all their support over the years and pledged that Anambra State will continue to fulfill its part of all agreements entered into with the United Nations towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Speaking, the Managing Director and CEO of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Nze Uche Nworah said the agreement is the first media partnership agreement the United Nations is entering into with any media house in Nigeria. “We are delighted about this and are privileged to have been selected by the United Nations for this all important task. We will work hard towards fulfilling the terms of the Media partnership agreement”. Continuing, Nworah said that ABS has already started the production and broadcast of ‘Njem Mmepe’ (Development Strides) on ABS 88.5FM every Thursday by 7.30pm. This will shortly go on ABS TV Channel 24. The program which is being co-produced and presented by Ebele Uzoegbo will also be syndicated to other radio and TV stations across South East Nigeria in due time. Anambra Attracts China In Tourism Development By EJIKE ABANA - November 20, 2018 39 0 China is set to build a dance auditorium in the State. The Commissioner for Local Artwork, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Sally Mbanefo stated this during the Exco Meeting at the Exco Chambers, Government House, Awka. Also at Exco, the Commissioner presented awards recently won by the State government including an award to Governor Willie Obiano as the Most Tourism Friendly Governor by the Private sector, as well as different awards won by the State at the National Council for Arts and Culture, NAFEST most creative performer, among others. Commissioner Mbanefo said that the Ministry has being trying to showcase the rich cultural heritage by ndi Anambra, both to the local and international audience, adding that it’s is line with Governor Obiano’s leadership dynamism. Recieving the awards, Governor Obiano who commended the Ministry for its achievements in so short a time under Commissioner Sally Mbanefo, appreciated the awards, saying that it is a motivation to do more work. Rebuilding Work On Enugwu-Ukwu General Hospital Advances State government has called for increased private sector partnership and collboration with the State to ensure unhindered access to quality health care by the State citizenry. Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke made the call when he paid an inspection visit to the ongoing rehabilitation work site of Enugwu-Ukwu General Hospital, Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Council Area. The Enugwu-Ukwu General Hospital is one of the three General Hospitals designated for rehabilitation in the three Senatorial Zones by Governor Willie Obiano. On arrival, ABS sighted an ongoing building on the site, which is already at the deck level, while labourers were seen mixing concrete and working. On completion, the two floor building will house wards, consulting rooms, theatres, diagnosing centres and maternity. While expressing satisfaction at the quality of work, Deputy Governor Okeke said that medicare remains a top priority to the present administration, which is why it has shown commitment, but regretted that funding has been a major challenge. While assuring of State government’s readiness to finance the project to completion, the Deputy Governor pointed out that the Governor recently approved and released some funds for work to continue, adding that there is another part of the contract that still needs to be approved for them to get additional funding. Mr Eric Nnajiuba, representing the contractor handling the project promised that with the continued assistance from the government, the project will be completed by early next year. He said that though a number of challenges exist here and there which is not unusual, State government has been giving them required assistance, expressing optimism that the critical aspects of the project will be addressed to complete it in record time. Dr Herbert Agbasi, a Senior Medical Officer who spoke on behalf of the Chief Medical Director of Enugwu-Ukwu General Hospital, expressed joy that increased activities are being witnessed on the site, after few months of almost non activity, hoping that the project will be completed within the period of their stay. |
IGR: Anambra Govt To Enroll Taxable Adults Into Designated Revenue Account The State Internal Revenue Service has announced plans to enroll taxable adults in state into distinctive revenue accounts to transform revenue collection and payments. The exercise will provide a simple system where taxes accruing to the State Government could be paid from any location in the state. The Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service, Dr David Nzekwu disclosed this during a one-day Internally Generated Revenue Technology Integration’ workshop in Awka. Dr. Nzekwu explained that the essence of the exercise is to improve revenue of the state government. In a remark, Mr. Victor Okere of Anambra Economic Think Tank identified falsehood on the part of some Internally Generated Revenue collectors, lack of tollgate structure and difficulties in identifying taxpayers as some of the problems facing revenue collection in the state. Anambra Govt To Launch CCTV Security Initiative The Anambra State Government is to launch the CCTV initiative in the security apparatus of the State very soon. Governor Willie Obiano disclosed this in Awka during the State Technical and Creativity Day. According to the governor, the CCTV cameras which will be mounted across all nooks and crannies of the State, will have great prospects for not only security but also for road safety. Governor Obiano revealed that the State Exco Council has approved the purchase of the cameras and they will soon be installed. The Governor promised that under his watch, security will continue to receive priority attention to ensure that the State remains viable for investors who are coming in their deluge. The Hon. Commissioner for Works, Engr. Marcel Ifejiofor along with the management sfaffs of MOW inspected the on-going Construction of Eziagulu-Ivite-Ezu River Road by Breeco Construction Nig. Ltd. This road cuts across swamps and two streams in Aguleri and gives access to a vast array of agrarian land. This project will indeed have a multiplier effect as it ll expand agricultural activities around the community and thus improve the economic and social well-being of individuals both directly and indirectly.
