BeautifulMind2: Obijackson Group and its subsidiaries. The Group is a major reference point in local content and has continued to deploy technology, delivering high quality services to companies across key sectors, ranging from oil and gas, construction, aviation and fabrication among others. In spite of the recession, the company is seeking to invest a minimum of $200 million over the next three years, in the construction of a power plant and in building a pipeline to convey gas to the power plants. Specifically, one of the subsidiaries, Century Power is building a modular power plant in Okija, Anambra State. The company plans to commence with a 465 megawatts (MW) module that would be scaled up ultimately to 2,000mw. A number of companies are already lining up to be hooked up to the power plant. In addition to building the power plant, the company also plans to build a 65 kilometers power pipeline that would be probably the first and only gas pipeline into the eastern part of Nigeria. The pipeline, which the company said would cost about $200 million, is going to be built from the OB3 pipeline, which is east to West in the Delta. The company said it would tap gas from that pipeline to Okija. The company said the pipeline would support the power plant and would also supply gas that would be piped into the eastern region. “Imagine all the industries in the eastern part of the country that has no gas. Suddenly that opens up the opportunity for them to be more efficient by using gas instead of the generators and other methods of power supply that they get,” said Mr. Simeon Tor-Agbidye, Assistant General Manager, Group Business Development, Nestoil Limited. Another of the Obijackson subsidiary, Shipside Drydock has emerged as one of the foremost ship maintenance facilities in the region, with a submersible dry dock and maintenance facilities for electronics, instrumentation and mechanical among others. In particular, the company claimed that by July 2017, companies would no longer have the need to take any vessel less than 110 meters out of the country for repairs or anything, as by then, it would have fully developed its capacity to undertake large jobs in that regard. Energy Works Technology, another subsidiary, is a fabrication company, involved in fabricating process vessels, infrastructure such as platforms, gas gathering facilities, manifolds among others. The company recently fabricated some of the vessels for the topsides of the Egina Floating Production, Storage and offloading vessels at its yard at Abuloma, which is set for export to South Korea to be integrated on the main vessel. The company is also expanding its capacity into the fabrication of super duplex stainless steel, a kind of welding and fabrication that is required for subsea facilities. Scorpio Drilling, a crude oil drilling company, also recently acquired a rig and has secured a three year work programme for the rig. The company said the rig would be involved in drilling operations for Neconde, its exploration and production (E&P) Joint Venture (JV) with Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, while it has adequate capacity to drill for other oil companies as well. Nestoil, the flagship company of the group is an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning, EPCC, company engaged in pipeline and facilities construction. Two other subsidiaries, B&Q Dredging and Nesthak, a horizontal directional drilling company are currently engaged in a massive dredging project in Bayelsa State and in the laying of pipes under roads and rivers for the OB3 pipeline project respectively. Particularly, B&Q Dredging, a dredging company, helped in dredging the River Niger for the Second Niger Bridge project, while Nesthak is currently involved in helping to cross the Ase River in the OB3 pipeline project, with the River Niger, being the next target, a distance of 1,800 meters. Nesthak would be engaged to drill underneath the River Niger to pass the pipeline, so that it is not laid in the water. The subsidiaries cover quite a significant portion of the oil and gas value chain, providing a lot of value. All of the companies directly employ over 3,000 individuals, making them one of the biggest employers of labour in the private sector in the country today. As part of its survival strategies, Tor-Agbidye said the company is optimizing its processes so as to become very competitive and is also deploying more equipment and training people to be more efficient. He said, “All the operators are talking about low cost, high quality; but once we optimize, which is what we are doing now, we would become very competitive; we would have businesses. Even if oil price is $20, we are there; our services would be there for people. He said the company is moving its crude oil offshore to where it would be loaded, adding that if it does not produce and cannot move its crude, we cannot make money, so people get laid off and facilities get grounded. On its plans for the future, Mr. Chris Ijeli, Group Head, Business Development, Nestoil Limited, said, “For the future, the project that is upcoming is Zabazaba. It is ENI, Agip. That is an Eni-run project. It is the Zabazaba field. They are going to set up all the facilities, FPSO, subsea facilities, all of that. “We are currently in the bid stage of this. Everybody is turning in technical and commercial proposals and all of that. That is what is going to fill up the shops for the next few years. After that, they are a couple of other projects that would be coming up. Like there is the Bonga South West, there is Etan, there are several projects that are coming up in the future, but the next big thing is Zabazaba. Everybody is gearing up for Zabazaba.” In addition, Tor-Agbidye said, “Besides that, right here in the country, there are lots of projects, fabrication projects; there are lots of things that can be done. One mistake that we do most of the time is that we tend to focus on the oil and gas industry. “But there is a lot out there. Like you go to the bottling companies, they have pressure vessels, they have pipes, and all of those things. You see this, this is a steel roof. We can fabricate this. All of those structures that you see, the steel gates, we can do all of those things. You go the breweries; in fact we can do everything that has to do with fabrication. “With respect to pipelines, there is a masterplan of gas pipeline for Nigeria. If you go and look at the Nigerian Gas Master Plan, there are a lot of gas pipeline planned for Nigeria and these are high-value projects. There are several bids for these that are coming up over the next few years. Those should provide activity for the EPCC companies as well. “There is enough for everybody in the market right now. We are able to keep ourselves busy, keep developing, keep transferring knowledge, keep growing people, and keep growing capacity to help the rest of the region grow as well.”

BeautifulMind2: Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Obijackson Group, parent of Nestoil Ltd, says that mechanical completion of the Oben Obiafu-Obrikom pipeline, a part of which the company is constructing, will be done by the end of March 2019 “and pre-commissioning and final commissioning much later in the year”. Azudialu-Obiejesi told Africa Oil+Gas Report in a wide ranging interview: “We are at the most interesting and exciting part of the job. In the next few weeks, when we announce its completion; it would be one of the most interesting engineering achievements in pipeline construction in Nigeria. We are trying to get 48” sized pipeline under the River-Niger from the eastern part across the other part of the Niger, some 1.8km on the other side of the river”.
The company explains that there’s a host of challenges delivering the job, a crucial east – west pipeline meant to deliver gas from the rich reserves in the east of the country to the large markets in the west The pipeline will help create some sort of a gas grid for the country. “It is the sheer scale and size and complexity of the river crossing and also the fact that you have a seasonal window to operate” that have made the construction work so onerous, Azudialu-Obiejesi explains. “Once the rain starts, you are unable to do any work in those areas and you find that you have huge equipment that can be submerged when the river overflows its bank. We also had security challenges. In January 2018, Nigeria’s security operatives killed one of the major militants in the Omoku area. Many Nigerians who may be aware of the project may not be aware that the main operating area of this militant and his associates was in Omoku and its environs, the same vicinity where a large percentage of Nestoil’s section resides. That was a major challenge but we are glad to announce that the worst is over as far as this project is concerned.

APGA Mobilizes Grassroots in Final Push for Victory
By James Eze
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) today held a highly successful interactive session for the 326 Wards across the state as the party tightens screws on its plan for victory in the Saturday, March 9, 2019 House of Assembly election in Anambra State.
The event which drew all the 21 Ward Exco Members and their followers together at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka attracted a huge crowd which stood out as a subtle show of strength as the party makes the final push for victory.
Throngs of party faithful who turned out at the event swore that APGA would bounce back from the slight setback it suffered in the National Assembly Elections a fortnight ago and assured that the party's iconic cock would crow again with greater vigour in the coming election.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano who is also the National Leader and Chairman of Board of Trustees of APGA charged party members to push for outright victory on Saturday.
He enumerated the highpoints of his administration and reminded the people that the only way to ensure that momentum is sustained is to vote in all APGA candidates in the coming election.
Noting that the House of Assembly election was more important to him than most people knew, Governor Obiano urged APGA members to leave no stone unturned in their push for victory.
Political analysts in Awka the state capital observe that with the huge turnout recorded at the interactive session, APGA has successfully cleared all the cobwebs on its way to a landslide victory in the upcoming House of Assembly election in the state.

Politics › Military Coup Thwarted Shagari's Planned Handover To Ekwueme- Obiano by AmericanQuarter(op): 4:47pm On Dec 31, 2018 |
Shehu Shagari planned to hand over to Ekwueme as president – Gov. Obiano Joe Chukindi Joe Chukindi 2 mins ago
The Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano has said that after late president Shehu Shagari, Nigeria would have had a president of Igbo extraction in Dr Alex Ekwueme.
Obiano, in a condolence message for the departed former president, said Shagari had planned to hand power over to Ekwueme but the plan was thwarted by a military coup that ousted him from office.
Obiano, speaking through Don Adinuba, Commissioner for information & Public Enlightenment, said, “Ex President Shagari worked effectively with Dr Ekwueme to give Nigeria a participatory democracy that accommodated all sections of the vast country from 1979 to 1983.
“Shagari’s belief in Ekwueme led to his re-nomination of the renowned architect, historian, town planner, sociologist and philosopher for the second tenure which they won before the military tragically truncated democratic rule.
“But for the military coup, Shagari had placed Ekwueme on the saddle to succeed him as President which would have effectively put an end to the marginalization agitations following the civil war.”
Obiano said that Shagari’s insistence on excellence also led to his appointment of a number of gifted Anambra indigenes into key public office, citing an example with Dr Fidelis Ezemenari, who was made the the founding CEO of the landmark Ajaokuta Steel Complex.
In the education sector, Obiano said former President Shagari led the charge in converting the College of Arts and Science at Oko in Anambra State to a Federal Polytechnic. He authorized the provision of requisite infrastructure to make education quite qualitative in line with the dreams of Ndi-Anambra and other Nigerians.
The release also read, “It cannot be forgotten that the fallen Nigerian leader was responsible for initiating the use of primary school enrolment as a criterion for allocating national resources, a move that benefitted Anambra State and the nation greatly.
“To crown his efforts as a Nigerian nationalist, ex President Shagari granted pardon to not just General Yakubu Gowon who was living in exile in the United Kingdom following charges of complicity in the bloody february 3, 976, coup attempt, but also to the erstwhile leader of Biafra, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who was living in exile in Cote d’Ivoire for his role in the Biafran Revolution.
“This was a watershed exercise central to national reconciliation. Anambra State and indeed all patriotic Nigerians cannot thank Shagari enough for this courageous feat.
“The love of Shagari and Anambra State was mutual. Nigeria’s first president, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, led his Nigeria People’s Party (NPP) into a working accord with Shagari’s National Party of Nigeria (NPN) to steady the ship of state of Nigeria’s then nascent democracy in 1979.”

Tourism: Anambra Govt Inaugurates Ogbaukwu Cave And Water Fall By EMMANUEL CHIGBATA - December 17, 2018 86 0
The State Government has commissioned the Ogbaukwu cave and water fall, at Owerre-Ezukala, Orumba South Council Area.
Governor Willie Obiano commissioned the tourist site together with a six room edifice containing four toilets and two bars within the area.
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi represented by Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre, the Edo state Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki and his Ondo state counterpart, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu represented by the state Arts and Culture Ambassador, Mr. Ozolua Kally and Mr Ayo Omotoso, respectively, Ogun state Governor, Mr Ibikunle Amosun represented by Mrs Omolola Adeyemi, and representative of Nigeria Tourism and Diaspora Commission, Mrs Grace Ukah, among others, graced the occasion. The cave has two hundred and five well consolidated steps that lead to the water fall and iron rails on both sides to enhance smooth movement.
Commissioning the site, Governor Obiano represented by the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artwork, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Sally Mbanefo disclosed that the state government has upgraded two tourist sites in less than one year.
He noted that the ultimate goal is for United Nations, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO, to identify with the project and take it to the next level, so as to create job opportunities for the youths.
In a speech, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa represented by Mr Tobechukwu Obienu, who said that Anambra is one of the leading state in diaspora affairs noted that the role of diaspora in nation building cannot be overemphasized as it will reposition the economy and accelerate economic recovery and growth.
In a remark the traditional ruler of the town, Igwe Thomas Ogbonnaya, expressed joy for the actualization of the project and appreciated the Governor for improving the tourism potential of the state.
On his part, the youth leader of the community, Mr Hillary Okafor, who thanked the Governor for his sustained work in Ogbaukwu cave pleaded for more interventions to lift the cave to an enviable height through infrastructural development and construction of road that leads to the tourist site, noting that it would create job opportunities, generate revenue to the governments and discourage youths from restiveness.
Speaking to ABS in an interview, one of the tour guides, Mr Chike Achukwu, said that the waterfall is a healing water while the features in the cave are above human comprehension, as one can see a natural stone carved spanner, Gun, toilets, elephant foot and many more.
