SOPWriter:TrendyTrendz, this is the best reply so far. SOPWriter really spoke my mind ....except for the Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC). Do everything else he said. I was in this same situation about 8 to 9 years ago, even with a large POF (around 100 million naira back in 2016/2017). You need to show commitment by paying the acceptance fee or the first-year tuition. Most schools only require the acceptance fee, which is usually about 15% of the first-year fees. But please confirm with the school before making any payment, and use that confirmation as part of the documents you submit when reapplying. also if you can share the officer note here that will be helpful |
kakaki123:Please explain ?? |
Milezwadup:sorry about your refusal Sometimes it’s not only about the amount of money in your account although that is still very important. It might simply be that you haven’t reached the required quota for the year. A lot of factors can affect the decision, especially now that the government is introducing a CAP. And if they see you don’t have a strong financial profile, it gives them even more reason to deny the application based on funds. 41 million naira is a good amount of money. But to be on the safe side, I always say the minimum someone should have in their account as Proof of Funds (POF) for a study permit is around 60 million naira (assuming 1 CAD = 1,000 naira). You’re trying to show the visa officer that your sponsor can give you about CAD $22,895 per year for living expenses, and the average 2-year school fees are around CAD $35,000. That means your sponsor must show enough to cover both years comfortably. These are just rough numbers, but while 41 million naira is a lot, it still may not show enough strength and remember, two years go by very quickly. So realistically, the minimum for a strong study permit application should be around CAD $60,000, using the exchange rate of 1 CAD = 1,000 naira. All things being equal meaning you have a legitimate business that clearly shows how the money was earned, your previous studies are related to the new course you’re applying for, etc. |
qtguru:You’re absolutely right. They’re doing everything just to keep Quebec satisfied. I honestly don’t understand how French counts as a skill, but what do I know? Just learn French that’s the only hope many people have.
|
Wisdommyth:Maybe it depends on what each province wants. Do your research its possible but I do not know |
America001:No |
Adex2442:People are trying any legal means nessary I know someone in my email that went to Nigeria French Language Village, In, Badagry Lagos, Nigeria doing part time classes and is hoping for the best to be called for the next French draw https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=e0bffaec294651cc&rlz=1CAKDZI_enCA1165&sxsrf=AE3TifM0vQf748_9s5TpfzK31HtRyxpPgQ:1764125572173&q=Nigeria+French+Language+Village+Badagry&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiI8cXw546RAxWlGjQIHcAkHAsQ7xYoAHoECBUQAQ&biw=1536&bih=695&dpr=1.25 |
mhoreh:If everything you said is correct, then under normal circumstances your visa should be approved. But we are living in abnormal visa times, and you are holding a Nigerian passport double wahala. Canadian visa rejection rates are very high. IRCC has heard the “childhood friend/family friend will provide accommodation” story many times, and they currently have over 21,446 pending asylum cases. That’s the real issue here. Yes you are not looking to claim asylum but because currently 21,446 asylum cases are pending for Nigerinas you are already put inside the bucket sadly https://www.irb-cisr.gc.ca/en/statistics/protection/Pages/RPDStat2025.aspx From what you explained and based on the visa officer’s notes, you need to present a stronger case. Family members with PR or citizenship are usually the best option to provide accommodation, if possible. or if you hold a US Visa that's your best option. Make sure your account clearly shows all the money in your savings, including income from the side job you mentioned. You need to show a strong financial profile to IRCC meaning all money should be traceable from your main job, your side job, and any other sources into your savings. You have a good income, but ₦13 million in savings is not strong enough, even if you say you are only staying for two weeks. Try again, but increase your savings to around ₦23 million as a starting point. Track and document all your income sources properly main job, side job, and any gig work. If you need help, reach out to a licensed immigration consultant. They can look at your documents and guide you better. IMO. https://register.college-ic.ca/Public-Register-EN/RCIC_Search.aspx

mhoreh:It all balls down to Money how much you earn montly as a family Help us with more context What is your travel history? How much do you earn monthly? Let us look at it this way: If you earn 1 million naira per month, it would take you about one year to save 13 million naira. That calculation assumes you are not paying bills or any living expenses, which is unrealistic in Nigeria. Now, if you plan to spend a full year’s savings on a trip to Canada, it will not make sense to a visa officer. Why would someone spend an entire year’s income on a vacation? Also remember that flight tickets around this time of the year are expensive. On average, flights cost 900 CAD to 1,200 CAD during regular periods, and much more during festive seasons. For a family of three, with one child under 2 years old, you would only be paying for yourself and your wife. A round-trip ticket for both of you could cost around 4 million naira non festive period That leaves about 9 million naira from your savings. But the visa officer will still ask: Are you using almost your entire year's savings just to buy flight tickets for a 4-month trip? For a family of three, 13 million naira in savings is not considered strong enough, especially for a long trip. The officer likely felt that the funds were insufficient to support the travel. Yes, 13 million naira plus a mutual fund looks substantial, but “sufficient funds” are judged based on: 1. Cost of Travel– flights, accommodation, feeding, transportation, and daily expenses for the entire trip. A longer trip requires significantly more money. 2. Financial Stability – you must show that after paying for the trip, you still have enough funds left to support your normal life back home. 3. Monthly Income Patterns – it’s not just about how much you have saved, but how much money flows into your account consistently. 4. Naira Devaluation– unfortunately, the naira has lost so much value. Amounts that used to look strong no longer meet expectations. If you submitted a 6-month bank statement, the officer would check: Your opening balance, How much you received each month, and Whether your account shows consistent income and stability with relation to the employment letter you submited. For a young family from Nigeria, the officer may also consider risk factors, especially given the recent rise in asylum claims by Nigerians. It’s sad, but it affects visa outcomes. I’m sorry about the refusal. |

ifeanyija:Yes, getting Medical Exam Passed is a very good sign and usually means your file is moving forward. You’re now just waiting for eligibility and background checks to be completed ...which is a different ball game and where most of the real assessment happens, and also where most people get rejected. Hopefully, you get the outcome you’re looking for. |
nedum87:Create an account online and answer the questions truthfully . The process works like an if-else statement, so your answers will determine the documents the system asks you to upload at the end. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/accounts.html Do not pay an unlicensed Canadian visa agent ...they can ruin your application and your life. You can verify licensed consultants here if you have the money: https://register.college-ic.ca/Public-Register-EN/RCIC_Search.aspx else DIY.. no one knows your situation better than you. If you get stuck, you can ask questions here; someone will be able to help. After you submit, check your account from time to time for updates. You will see steps like: Biometrics Passport submission Etc. That’s the simple breakdown of the process.

2pretty:Nothing in life is guaranteed...not success, not PR, not work. That being said: I have never been to Ireland, so I can’t speak from experience, and even if I had visited, visiting is very different from actually living in a place. That said, a Master’s in Education is a strong qualification if you position yourself well in Canada. The average annual salary for a high-school teacher with a Master’s degree in Canada is around $107,700, though this varies based on experience. https://www.jobbank.gc.ca/marketreport/wages-occupation/15904/ca And if you plan to get your PhD later in life, that will help your case even more, because university lecturing is where the highest earnings in education typically are. Regarding visa approval rates: Every country is reducing the number of international students and immigrants using increased financial requirements and stricter reviews. I remember seeing this news early this year that in June 30, 2025, international students in Ireland must show higher financial savings for living expenses and Canada made similar changes in Octoberthis year also. This is a global trend ...if you read credible news sources, you’ll see that immigration pathways are tightening. The path from student to PR is not as easy as it used to be. However, if your goal is a clear and predictable pathway to PR, Canada usually offers a faster and more structured route after a Master’s (PGWP to work experience to Express Entry or PNP).https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/mandate/policies-operational-instructions-agreements/ministerial-instructions/express-entry-rounds.html Ireland can also lead to long-term residency, but it usually takes longer and depends heavily on securing the right type of job and work permit. In Ireland, think of it as your company sponsoring you toward long-term residence before PR, rather than a student-to-PR path like Canada As for cost of living, life abroad is expensive everywhere. It’s hard to say which country is “cheaper” overall ....both have cities that are very affordable and some are very expensive. Eventually, you just have to pick your “poison.”

Predator188:Have you finish editing from gpt let me know 👀 |
Chigbo55:We need context what's your background in Firstly, PR is not guaranteed, and no one is promised PR through studying, especially as the numbers continue to decrease. If I were in your shoes, I would go ahead if the certificate meets the following criteria: (1) If the program offers field experience/work placement so you gain real construction/infrastructure site exposure. For example, the George Brown program has a field-experience semester. https://www.georgebrown.ca/programs/construction-management-program-postgraduate-t403 (2) If the curriculum covers not just general construction but specifically infrastructure/industrial construction, sustainable building practices, project control (scheduling, estimating), contracts & procurement (3) if you plan to actively pair it with construction or infrastructure project experience (4) If you have a clear career goal for yourself : e.g Within 3 years I want to be project manager for infrastructure/utility construction in North America If any of those criteria are not met abort mission |
Predator188:When you see information online, please don’t just read read to understand The statistics I shared represent the total study-permit rejection rate across all 12 months of 2024. Side Note: The full results for 2025 will only be available next year. The 74% rejection rate you’re quoting applies only to Indian applications for the month of August, compared to about 32% in August 2023. They are comparing August 2023 vs. August 2025. I am giving you statistics that cover the entire 12 months of 2024, taken directly from the Government of Canada. So when you read news, remember to read carefully and understand the context . lovere:Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) A Labour Market Impact Assessment is a document that allows a foreign worker to apply for a work permit. However, it is the employer not the worker who must apply for the LMIA. Once the employer receives a positive LMIA from the government, the foreign worker can then use it to submit their work permit application. Unfortunately, the LMIA system is also one of the most commonly misused pathways for obtaining work permits and accessing cheap labour. Back in 2023 it was selling for about 49,000CAD hahahah on Facebook market place it cost the employer $1,000 to apply for it but they ilegally charge the foreign worker as much as $50,000CAD for it Mind you its meant to be free to the foreign worker rumor has it one guy made over 1.7 million CAD from LMIA scam and he didn't even have a Farm or work for this workers hahahahahhahah Indian guy off coz that's why the government stop it from adding to PR points https://x.com/KanwarSierah/status/1827099665814208688?s=20

kpiper2473:There is no form or section that directs you to CAN+. The IRCC portal basically works like an IF–ELSE statement the documents it asks for depend entirely on the information you input. When submitting a standard Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) application online, during the questionnaire section, once you select “Yes” for: (1) Have you held a Canadian visitor visa in the past 10 years? (2) Do you currently hold a valid U.S. non-immigrant visa? …the system will show questions related to CAN+ eligibility, and based on your answers, it will tell you which documents you need to submit. I tried it using the “Visitor Visa Visit Family” option, and I noticed that when I selected Yes for both of the above questions, and I have not been previously given a visa rejection/ Ban I didn’t need to provide POF (Proof of Funds) as a final document. Note: I was just playing around with the system So now tell us: (A) What questions did you answer when submitting your visa application? (B) Was your purpose of travel listed under tourism, business............ETC ? In the section that asks if you have ever been refused a visa, if you selected Yes because of your previous refusal for misrepresentation, the follow-up questions will change. From my experience, IRCC and even the UK Home Office sometimes calls banks to verify Proof of Funds. This is not new; it’s just part of their normal process.

walenden:hahahahah very true |
sam1000000:We see this issue far too often the truth is, your agent hasn’t been honest with you. I’m quite sure your fiancé visa case was decided earlier this year, likely within the first four months. However, because the fake documents submitted by the unlicensed Facebook agent led to a 5 years ban, the agent hasn’t told you anything and is hiding the truth. Tell your fiancé to use his visa application details from the biometric paper to request a GCMS note and see for himself do not inform the agent of this that’s the next step he should take |
Kolajero:Back to back rejection IRCC has red eye now no love again |
Badadvisor:Who ? old friend |
mcsugk:IRCC generally expects you (the applicant) to show enough money to cover your living expenses and your children’s expenses, in addition to supporting your spouse while she studies. I do not know the exact amount, but to be on the safe side, having around $40,000 CAD should be more than enough in my opinion, since with two kids, expenses can add up quickly. Hopefully, your wife is working her allowed 24 hours per week to help support the family application ....she can submit her T4 and pay stubs as proof of employment and income to support application |
esosa4real:Do not waste time contact a Canadian licensed immigration consultant No one here can give you the best answer except someone you can pay to carefully review your documents and identify the main issue why you might ask because we need more context to understand the POF document that was shared and that's what someone that is licensed will look over specifically a Canadian licensed immigration consultant (not the ones you see on Facebook or in random groups). In Nigeria, there are only about six or seven officially licensed immigration consultants. They need to go over your documents because, from what you shared, here are the key issues mentioned: Illegible Documents: The copies of your bank statements and several other documents were of poor image quality and contained illegible sections. This prevented proper verification of account details and transaction histories. Lack of Verifiability: An electronic verification method (such as a bank-issued portal or verifiable MyBankStatement ticket) was not provided. Inability to Confirm Details: Due to poor legibility and lack of verifiable information, the officer could not reliably confirm balances, dates, payors, or the source of deposits. Anything related to financial documentation is very delicate in any immigration profile. It’s best that he spends the money to consult a licensed immigration professional who can pinpoint exactly where the issue lies and guide him on how to fix it. https://register.college-ic.ca/Public-Register-EN/RCIC_Search.aspx

is your wife in Canada as a student or on a work permit? because both are different POF |
SlimazLee:Let me tell you something Nothing good comes cheap and Moving abroad is expensive that already said Take it slow and do it step by step. First get your CRS points so you can get invited and receive an ITA. If a family member can gift you $15,263 to show proof of funds (POF), that helps...but IRCC only accepts real, non-repayable gifts that are already in your bank account. The donor should put it in writing that it’s a gift (not a loan), and you should keep the gift letter and transfer receipts. Leave the money in your account for a few weeks or months before you submit your PR application (e-APR) so it looks stable. Explain to IRCC about the large deposit, explain it in a Letter of Explanation and attach the gift documents. Don’t move the money back and forth ...it just causes questions. Alot of people do this with the little money they have saved https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/proof-funds.html Just focus get your ITA first, then handle POF ...one step at a time its well. No country is perfect Canada has a lot of problem but you are doing this for your self and your family
|
Legacyedition:Wait, wasn’t it Healthcare and Social Services occupations you got your ITA under? Go over my profile.... I’ve always advocated for people to contact licensed immigration consultants, and it’s good that you did. As I said from the start, I genuinely wish you all the best. But you showed a poor attitude by bringing up where I supposedly live. For the record, I do not live in Brampton. And for your information, the average house price in Brampton was approximately $909,448 as of July. So before you try to shame anyone from Brampton, you might want to think twice. You’d be better off upgrading your skills, because with a mental health support job, you won’t be able to afford the kind of house you’re looking down on simply because it’s in Brampton. Otherwise, you’ll likely remain a renter for the rest of your life. |
Legacyedition:WTF, I don’t even live in Brampton ...are you trying to shade me? You do not want to start this You quickly changed the previous statement you made how funny of you... very sniky You see, the problem is that you don’t understand the Express Entry round type you’re applying for. The information you stated applies to the general Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) requirements, which are different from a category-based draw. You’re applying under the Healthcare and Social Services occupations category, specifically NOC 42201 – Mental Health Support Worker. As I mentioned befor...and that still stand...this is a category-based draw, not a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw or the general Federal Skilled Worker stream. The officer wants to confirm that you genuinely qualify under the category you selected, and that’s where your challenge lies. General Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) checks you have work experience does not care what it is for the most part. Canadian Experience Class (CEC) checks if you have work exprience in Canada does not care what it is for the most part. Category-based checks if you have work and qualification ( school) experience in that Categoty or you belong to a professional body in that Categoty. in this case you only have work experience which is not enought. |
Legacyedition:I genuinely wish you all the best, but based on the details provided, you only meet one out of the three employment requirements listed for this position. FYI When you share information here, please make sure to state your source. https://noc.esdc.gc.ca/Structure/NOCProfile?code=42201&version=2021.0 The officer’s concern is likely that you do not have: (1) A college or university program in social work, child and youth care, psychology, or another social science or health-related discipline, or (2) Membership in a provincial regulatory body, which is required in some provinces. They can see that you’re not specialized in the field you’re working in. Someone who is specialized would typically meet at least two out of the three requirements ....yet you’re working as a Mental Health Support Worker (NOC 42201). That inconsistency raises questions. Remember, this is a category-based draw, not a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw. The officer wants to confirm that you truly qualify under the category you’ve selected, and that’s where your challenge lies. That mindset of “everyone has a high school diploma” doesn’t really apply here. In Canada, you’re applying for Permanent Residency (PR)...you’re being assessed differently. We all know some jobs can be used as a stepping stone, but for category-based draws, the focus is on whether your education and work experience align with the occupation category, not just that you have work experience in it.
|
Legacyedition:Yes..... it’s absolutely okay (and advisable) to submit a webform before the senior officer makes a final decision, especially since your GCMS notes clearly show factual errors that could directly affect your eligibility and CRS points. Reference your evidence but don’t re-upload documents unless requested as it will look like you are trying to change something in your application. The goal is to ensure the senior officer catches and corrects these before refusal which we do not look forward to but............... can someone be hired as a Mental Health Support Worker (NOC 42201) without the required education? https://noc.esdc.gc.ca/Structure/NOCProfile?code=42201&version=2021.0 for Mental Health Support Worker (NOC 42201) I think a college or university program in social work, child and youth care, or another related social science field is typically required you see the first point is where the issue is the way its worded Previous work experience in a social service environment as a volunteer or in a support capacity may replace formal education requirements for some occupations in this unit group You see, that may be what the officer is looking at. The first point states it clearly.... the reason is that for the Mental Health Support Worker (NOC 42201) position, you need to have related education. That’s the only issue here. Look at it this way: out of the three employment requirements for this NOC, you only partially meet point 2. So that’s 1out of 3, which makes it hard to claim that point. However, if you were a Social Service Worker and a member of a provincial regulatory body, that would give you 2 out of 3, making your claim stronger.

IRCC is doing everything to please the French-speaking Quebecois. I honestly don’t understand how French is considered such a major skill ..... but what do I even know? Learning French is the best option right now for anyone who isn’t in healthcare, doesn’t fall under CEC, Trades, or Education with current CRS at 490. Times are getting tougher these days, and fewer provinces are conducting PNP draws
