Please what's the meaning of Amobi?
AMOBI---Chimobi or Moby or Mobi.
Amobi was popularised by Owerri people who usually put 'A' in their wordings.
Origin-Chimaobi.

Alex Akinyele was drawing reference from the tradition of the old Oyo empire. The old Oyo empire is no more and the Yorubas have moved on. Things that do not normally happen in the then Oyo empire happens this days. For example Chief M. Abiola was made Are ona kakanfo when he was not a military officer. There lots more.

Uboma, Obowo, Ihitte, and Nsu used to be in the old Etiti LGA, near Mbano LGA. I know the area like the back of my hand, from Eke-egwu to Amaraku. Onicha Uboma should have been the HQ of any local govt. in the area. Turning Madonna high school into a university campus was bad enough, but taking the HQ away was devastating.
The above mentioned places are people of Okigwe descent and majority are not interested in the Igboezue state. I have attended several meetings of Okigwe zoNE peoples' both home and abroad and I know their stakes.
Turning Madonna high school into a university campus was not a bad idea. The site has got land for expantion and the natives around their have approved that. A lot of universities started from high schools and either relocated or expanded.
The headquarter remains at Isinweke and has to be taken elsewhere. Nsu left Etiti to join Mbano since the fifties. What was left as Etiti was further split into two in 1989. The southern Etiti has its headwuaters in Otoko and the name of the LGA is called Obowu. While the northern part is called Ihitte/Uboma and still retain the old headquaters at Isinweke-Etiti. My family house is just 5 minutes drive from there. The late Dee Sam's first wife is my aunty. With this, probably, you might know who is posting here from the UK.

Isinweke is not a town I know to be around the area. You have to be a little bit more specific about the town, local govt, and current state.
If the locals and ndiezes of Isinweke object to creation of the state, does that mean that a majority of the people are against it?
Isinweke is the headquaters of Ihitte/Uboma LGA; Okigwe south constituency; Okigwe Zone; Imo state.
Naijaking1, I can't believe am educating you, am sure you already know that.

Your support for Njaba state is respected, why don't you respect other people's support for Igboezue or Etiti state. Your allegation of lack support by potential component members is insincere and smacks of cheap political blackmail. I remember you saying that you're from the area, nothing could be further from the truth. If you challange my position tell me where you're realy from, and I will ask you a question only some from the area would know.
I am from Isinweke and when the idea of this disjointed Etiti state was conceived, Isinweke was part of it. One of the proponents of this state is my friend and from the same Isinweke as me-Nze Ozichukwu. He sold this idea to me couple of years ago when he visited London but I objected. I gave him reasons and facts to support my argument. Even the natives of the area and their Ndiezes have not consented to the idea. Their wishes has to be respected.

I tire of you pan-Igbo-ists. . Anyway, Igboezuo can have its state, seeing as to how they won't be taking any Ngwa LGAs. So it isn't my problem. We are, and will still be demanding Aba state.
I am not opossed to Ngwa state creation. They do deserve a state. My stand is, if and if ONLY one state is to be created from the existing south east geo-political zone. It should be Njaba. I am have outlined my reasons earlier on. I not a native of Njaba state to be. But I stand on fairness.

PoliticsRe: Which Other State Should Be Created In Southeast? by AndreUweh(m): 3:10pm On Jun 13, 2010
@RHYMZ: the writer got it all wrong. There is no need to create a join-join state. All the so called areas have not accepted ithis arrangement. For a state to be created the people of that area must consent to be involved in the new area. In this case, they have not consented to it. The people of Okigwe zone are historically and culturally one and the new state if created will cut them into two. I t is wrong.
Within Njaba, there is contiguity, in my opinion is the best choice for the south east. There may be more but it is a top priority.
The people of Afikpo and Ohaozara as I read in a local newspaper have voiced their opinion on the issue and are not interested in all this 'shifting cultivation'. At first Imo state, later Abia and now Ebonyi. No more, they said.

Andre
Thank you very much for re-asserting that jare. That is exactly my point, people who have a better understanding of their ancestral history don't spend time splitting hair and making statements that wreaks of insecurity or not being sure of your root. It is just like the arguement of some ppl black ppl taking offense when you address them as African Americans, they would rather you called them black Americans but that does not take away the facts that they actually ve their roots in Africa and so are Africans. Until recently, I did not my neighbour was igbo, the ones in the boarder between enugu and benue, the wife was clearly benue but the husband I was not sure. Not until he had boy child and named him chukwuemeka, I asked him and he told me he was igbo, I did not believe until I heard him one speak his local dialect to a relation did not sound like your normal anambra or imo states igbo but it had many igbo elements in it. And funny enough, the man could speak the general igbo lang very well too.
During my traditional marriage in Ikwerreland, there was nothing to show that I was marrying outside Igboland. The opening prayer and closing prayers were said in Igbo language. The blessing of Aji as they call it were done in Igbo language as well.

At the peak of the activities, my wife was giving wine to come and search for me. The same way it was done when my sister got married.
The M.C of the day , an Ikwerreman but spoke in Igbo all through.

This thread is already heaving with repititive lethargic questions. Where are the so-called delta igbo, ikwere igbo and bendel igbo let us hear their own perspective, no need asking thesame questions in different form and going round and round, it is kind of childish, boring and lacks intellectual dynamism. All we have been doing so far is giving similar answers to a recurring but thesame lame question and quite frankly, it is boring and tiring.
My wife is Rivers Igbo from Ikwerre. She as well as her family are proud Igbo.

In the mean time, what are the actual requirements for state creation?
The region demanding for a state must have minimum of 10 LGA's.
Must have a population of at least one million.
But, FG do not necessarily follow this guidelines.

Chinenye, with due respect to you, I do not intend to insult you. If you find my post to you offensive, then I hereby apologise. I still maintain that most of the issues raised and questions asked is for our brothers across the Niger.
One of them came here spilling crap how they are not one with their brothers across the east. I strongly feel she and some of them with same belief should defend their bloody 'ass'ez'.
I strongly believe that if someone from Delta Igbo region tells me that he is not too sure if he is Igbo because when his father died, they buried him facing Bini. To me that person has an identity crises.
This thread is inviting them to come and clarify their identity. Not those who do not have identity crises such as Ngwa people. Unless you have such, which I doubt.

Udezue, na simple question. . . yu no fit ansa?

This is going to get a little more complicated. . . I'll have to think carefully about how I word my posts from here on in. . .1. Is she the same Igbo?
2. "Igbo" refers to two related, but different things (culture & identity). I would assume that you're referring to culture and not identity. . but I'd rather not work off assumption. So, now my question is, of those two, which are you referring to?
Chinenye, it seems you a Deltan Igbo man pretending to be Ngwa. When posters refer to the Delta Igbo girl or people, you are the one to jump to their defence. I have not seen a delta Igbo responding on behalf of NdiNgwa.
Posters have accused Ndi Delta Igbo of identity crisis and lacking in coplex, it is left for them to respond. Please stop being their mouthpiece, it is annoying.
We are here to learn from them and them learn from us. PLEASE STOP IT.

Inferiority Complex because she fears that she might not be able to prove her igboness before other igbo due to her lack of knowledge of her history hence the easy escape route of claiming to be a different igbo or non-igbo to cover up her lack. If you say you are not igbo, then give us the historical antecedent rather than bandy ordinary words not based on history.

And Aba state is the oldest state creation demand in Nigerian/pre-Nigerian history. . . just saying.
The clamour for Aba state has been long as well. It is not certain when the clamour began but that of Anioma is documented.
In the south east, the most qualified state to be created apart from Njaba is Aba state. Currently, this zone has 9 LGA's and might include Oyigbo and Omuma LGA's from Rivers state. Njaba and Aba are far ahead of Nsukka state agitation with mere 7 LGA's. Politics aside this two are top priorities. But with politics, proponents of Nsukka state might argue that Njaba and Aba are in Southern areas of S.E while Nsukka is the only clamour from northern part of the S.E. This might cancel Aba state agitation out. Just my personal opinion.
PoliticsRe: Which Other State Should Be Created In Southeast? by AndreUweh(m): 1:52pm On Jun 12, 2010
naijaking1:
The quest for the creation of Nsukka state even pre-dates this Njaba thing. Number of local governments is important, but viability of future states is even more important. Despite being placed in many states, people from this so-called "join-join" state actually have a long historical and cultural similarity that predates the whiteman's arrival.
The clamour for Anioma state has been on since 1951 believe me.
Nsukka or Adada state has just 7 LGA's. Would it be proper to create Nsukka state with 7 LGA's or Njaba with 13 LGA's.
Also, there is no evidence to show that Nsukka is more viable than Njaba. Never.

Glad to know you're from the area. There's nothing artificial about the proposed state, because Okigwe was the historical HQ of the area: from Awgu and Ugwueme(Enugu)to Isiagu and Uburu(Ebonyi) to Isuochi(Abia) to Lokpa and Leru(Imo), To Orumba(Anambra). If you're from this area, your grand father would tell you about their affiliation with Okigwe, even before Enugu and PH drew most of the economy away. There's nothing artificial about the state, because it should have been created in the first place.
Yet, it is too small when compared to the proposed Njaba state. Lets be realistic, why can't Njaba with 13 LGA's not be created. Why do we clamour for mushroom states such as Orashi state with 5 LGA's or Etiti with "join-join" villages from here and there?.
The attempt not to support the creation of Njaba state has made the south east to have only 5 states. Too bad.
PoliticsRe: Which Other State Should Be Created In Southeast? by AndreUweh(m): 12:22pm On Jun 12, 2010

For every new state created in other regions, the SE must get 2.
First there should be the "Etiti" state; carved out of Imo/Abia/Ebony/Enugu/Anambra with capital in Okigiwe
Then Anioma should be created to "liberate" the Igbos across the Niger
Then, if possible, an Nsukka state, made of the Nsukka zone of Enugu state, some local govenment areas of Ebonyi and Benue.
That Etiti state is too artificial. Where have you seen that happen in Nigeria. That area includes my town but we are not interested in a state. Okigwe our neighbours are not interested in a new state or to be made capital of a state.
With good reasoning, fairness and justice, Njaba state deserves to be created as the sixth state in the south east.

I do not come from the said area but it is the most qualified amongst the whole lot. It has about 13 local govt. areas. There is cultural and geographical contiguity.

The call for Anioma state is supported by every Igbo but it has to be carved out from the existing South south zone.

@Bestestgal: Your post is exquisitely boring. Delta Igbo is different from Eastern Igbo yet your imbecilic brain prevented you to provide evidence. Whether you marry Yorubas or not, who cares. You are a bloody proof of that inferiority complex that has been much talked about here.
Why does that your claimed difference not stopped Hausa/Fulani cum islamist from slaughtering your brothers and sisters in their region?.
My advice to you is that you continue to be a spectator as you have always been since you registered in nairaland. We joined nairaland about the same time last year and you have only 3 post so far. So continue to read through and do not go to that section that says 'reply (click once, then wait. You do not only lack ideas but the mental capability to engange in any Igbo thread.
Once again continue to be a SPECTATOR. Should I type that in Igbo for easier comprehension?.
