ABOUT 13 people, including a road traffic officer, on Wednesday, in Jabi district area of Abuja, escaped death when a commercial bus had a brake failure and crashed into the fence of the Jabi Plaza.
The incident, which occurred at about 2: 30 p.m., was said to have been caused by over-speeding.
An eyewitness told the Nigerian Tribune that the driver of the bus, with registration number XB 539 RBC, lost control, making the vehicle to swerve off the road.
The source said the vehicle hit a road safety officer, simply identified as Zakari, on his way to meet his colleagues at the traffic check point and had been rushed to an undisclosed hospital.
Aside some of the passengers who were said to have sustained various degrees of injuries, the bus also broke part of the perimeter fence of the plaza and damaged two other buses belonging to Collzen Travel and Tour.
A traffic officer who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident to the Nigerian Tribune, saying that his colleague who was hit by the ill-fated bus was called up to go to Total traffic junction before the incident.
While tragedy struck in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Wednesday, when thunder struck two middle-aged men, driver and mechanic to death.
The third victim identified as Ibrahim Oke was still unconscious when the Nigerian Tribune visited the scene of the incident on Ibadan-Ife road.
An eye witness, Sarafadeen Musibau, said that they were all at the open field recently allocated to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) by the state government to serve as the new garage for the commercial vehicle operators when suddenly they heard the sound of the thunder.
He said immediately, everybody started running helter skelter, looking for where they could hide, but before they knew what was happening, three people had been hit by the thunder.
According to him, the deceased were drinking palm wine under a tree when they were hit by the thunder.
He explained that one of the victims was carried by the thunder which hanged him on the tree before catching fire.
He said the victim was burning when he later fell inside a drainage.
The third victim, the Nigerian Tribune learnt, was on an errand when he was hit by the thunder.

Adam Johnson is the only natural left winger in that 30 man squad. It is a pity that he will not be in the plane to South Africa. So, I guess J.Cole will start from the left flank while S.W-Phillips and A. Lennon will battle for the right flank. Goodluck to England and Nigeria.

The colonial overlords spelt Ibo as it suits them. They have left nearly 50 years now and the destiny of Ndigbo since then is in her hands. It is st.upidity of the highest order for an Igbo to spell Ibo. The dowry on their mothers is a complete waste.
PoliticsRe: Why Can't Lagos And Ogun States Be Merged? by AndreUweh(m): 11:14pm On May 31, 2010
A merger between Lagos and Ogun state should be supported. This will leave the South west with 5 states .
There should also be mergers in the south south. Probably, Rivers and Bayelsa. This lives the group with 5 states.
North central states of Plateau and Nasarawa should be merged as well so as to have 5 states in the north central.
North east, Gombe and Bauchi merger will produce 5 states in that zone.
Lastly, north west states of Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi should be brought together as one state. This will make the zone to have 5 states.
All the geo- political zones should have 5 states each. It is mischievous as we as a foul play for some zones to have 7 states, some with 6 states and another with only 5 states. Enough of this nonsense.

kettykings:
All these propaganda Against ibos , ibo boys don't go to school , ibos like money , ibos are not united , ibos are ritual killers , ibos are the problem of nigeria , Sometimes I think this propagan originate from the insecurity of the originators particularly the yorubas , who despite their antics ( awolowo and obasanjo) have had ibos still surpass in every area of human endeavour . Something tells me to warn ibos to double watch their backs this time around because these serpents does not give up easily and might likely strike (betray) a second time.
Kettykings: You may rewrite your post above. It is IGBO and not Ibo. You may use Ndigbo as in plural form instead of Igbos. Remember, it is IGBO.

To have a Nigerian culture, there can be a fusion of Igbo Eastern Nigerian new yam festival, Northern Nigerian flog dance and Western Nigerian tribal marks. Such fusions can metamorphose into a Nigerian culture.

In West Africa, probably in Africa, it is Igbo girls and others. They were specially created by God. No wonder other groups desire them as girlfriends/wives. May Almighty God be praised for the special talents endowed in Igbo women.
Same reason why igbo people come first in many things including bad ones.

by the way, is that all the conclusions you can come up with?
Why is it not, could it be that:
1. Igbo girls are actually prettier?
2. Igbo people are more in population than they are actually being made to be?
3. Igbo people like entering such competitions more than other?
4. such competitions are usually done with girls in urban areas and more igbo people liev in urban areas due to their migratory nature?
5. the ordanisers tilted the results in favor of igbo girls?
6. could it be, could it be , could it be ,could it be . . . . . .

Just do the thinking . . .
You are right.

Eze Frank Ekeh has reclaimed Igbo and has been actively involved in Igbo socio/cultural activities in Rivers state now.
Others should emulate him.
