obimag:Your contributions are very valuable. Well said. However, you should have emulated other posters who wrote Igbo instead of Ibo. It will be very welcoming to write Ndigbo instead of Ibos. Do not be offended my brother but we are not in colonial era when the British wrote things the way it suited them. |

Man kills friend over N50 sachet water By CHRISTOPHER OJI Thursday, December 10, 2009 • A man, who was arrested for allegedly killing his friend over N50, has narrated the incident which resulted in the death of the victim. Seyi Olaiya, who is being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos, told Daily Sun that it was not his intention to kill his bosom friend, Usman Yaya. He explained that fateful day, He narrated how he bought some fruits for himself, his fiancée and the victim before the tragic incident. He explained that as they were eating the fruits, he gave Yaya N50, to buy sachet water to wash their hands after taking the fruits. According to him, he expected Yaya to buy the water but he did not. He said when he finally saw him and inquired why he did not buy the water, he told him he used the money to buy cannabis, otherwise known as Indian hemp. He said: “Instead of giving me genuine excuse, he told me he used the money to buy Indian hemp.” He confessed that he became angry over the reply and asked him to either, refund the money or give him the water he asked him to buy. “Instead of being remorseful, he started challenging me to a brawl. As I made an attempt to fight him, he started running and I gave him a hot chase. As he was running, he hit his leg on a stone and fell and in the process, hit his head on a pavement,” he said. According to him, Yaya sustained serious injuries on his head and was rushed to a hospital, where he went into coma before he died. Olaiya, who wept profusely as he narrated the incident further said: “My brother, you can see that I did not mean to kill him. I was only trying to correct him. My brother, is it not contradictory that I would fight my guests, after buying fruits to entertain them”? A police source confirmed that Olaiya did not mean to kill his friend. He said what he found out was that when the deceased found out that he was too weak to withstand Olaiya, he took to his heels . “But instead of allowing him to go, Olaiya chased him until he fell and hit his head on a pavement,” he said. He said policemen were still investigating the case to ascertain the allegation that even after the victim fell, Olaiya still tortured him. The Lagos State police spokesman, Mr. Frank Mba, said the corpse had been deposited in a public morgue for autopsy. He disclosed that the result of the autopsy later indicated that he died from the injuries he sustained from physical combat with Olaiya. He said the suspect would be charged to court after investigation. |

Dear Osisi since you are a quarter Ijaw, you may make contributions to the Ijaw thread that has bee static since creation. It is a shame really that a thread for the Ijaws is still on its first page till date. Even the Isoko thread has jumped to the seventh page. Yet they claim they are 14 million people and that they are 4th largest ethnic group in Nigeria. Wonders shall never end. |
Isokos do not have one common trace of origin. Some say Bini, Isu etc. Whatever the case, they are Isoko-a separate ethnic nationality. |
yes |
That is barbaric. I think 50 years in jail will do. |
O'NNA. The guy has not been fair to you. Just make him reason through the hard way for example, you may destroy his laptop or desktop by smashing it on the floor 40 times. If that does not work, just let me know. I have plan B and C to unveil to you. Goodluck. |
Put bleaching aside. His message is very clear i.e promotion of yoruba ways of life. A similar call was made by Anambra state Governor late last year and by May this '09, Anambra lawmakers responded with some positive bills on culture. In as much as I like the Yorubas to promote Yoruba culture, methinks it will not die. Here in the UK, I know lots of third generation Yorubas who speak the language. The Yoruba race of 40 million people worldwide, no the language will not die. |

Gbikomlish, Iam an Igbo from Delta North. Hence, what is the fate of my people when you gbecome kpreshident?. |
@Jona: Say your town and lets compare it with towns in Igboland. Why not do that rather than hinding inside the belly of a Ninivan shark to type rubbish. As a result of your uncle who died at the Okija shrine, you do not seem to write without posting his skulls. I pity you and your guilty uncle who was swallowed by the shrine. It will not be long before this same shrine consumes you-the Igbo hater. |
brooklyn99:you are just a plural fool. What would it profit you by putting your hand in your finger. As for you and your useless post: siri kpom kpom nekwuwa dima. |
Sagamite:Russia played 9 players against eleven. Such a situation is very difficult for any coach. |
chamotex:Not really, but he should not be subjected to such funny jokes. This is not the first time. |
Your mentally deficient body is same as that your cousin ape that escaped from Yakari game reserve not long ago. |

You are a Nigerian and probably Yoruba. Stop denying a well known fact. Tell me where I have attacked Yorubas in my posts?. |
Is Kanu not better than those who have been cheating on their wives? Is he not better than those who are on on drugs?. Is he not better than those who spend £4,000 on betting daily?. Is he not better than those who sell matches?. Is he not better than those who kill their wives, child, and hangs to death on top of the roof of their houses?. Is he not better than those who use hand to make crosses in world cup qualifiers? Is he not better than those who headbutt opponents in w/cup matches?. Please, the good people of N/land, let Kanu be. |
