ndu_chucks: The ultimate goal should be to scrap this government support for Nigerians who go on pilgrimages to both Mecca and Jerusalem. I think getting rid of this tradition should take place, but should be way at the bottom of the list of priorities, simply because of its sensitive nature.
Not enough, govt should ban citizens from going to Mecca more than once.

The most thing to happen to F.Torres is to go on loan elsewhere. His low confidence can be rebuilt with this arrangement. I learnt A.C Milan is interested on a loan move for him. Chelsea should in turn have Pato from Milan in loan exchange.

Desola: "Us"? Did I read you well, Ngodigha? The last time I checked, the thread clearly read "Yorubas only" Have you now become one of us?
Please respect yourself. I have once warned you that we are not same.
Am from Ibadan in Oyo state as I did spend more years in Ibadan than in the East where I originally come from. Don't be surprised to see me one day representing Ibadan North in the house.

Dudu_Negro: I have been lurking on NL for a while, and I think it's high time we formed Egbe Omo Oduduwa on NL - to talk exclusively about issues affecting

Arole, I saw this thread for the first time last night but I had no time on hand to respond to it. First, I want to appreciate your thoughtfulness and vision in challenging us to this call and purpose. I love it! You will find my involvement and participation very admirable. I also give you my gratitude not only for listing me amongst the possibile candidates but that I am the first name in your thoughts when you dropped this idea. It is indicative of my character and personality and the way I conduct and interact with the rest of people in NL, whether they are Yoruba or not. I love my people, I will die for my people and the land; this is not to say I hate others or desire illwill for them.

Arole, aiye a yee, wa d'agba wa d'arugbo, owo a to e wa, omo a to e wa, ire a to e wa, ohun gbogbo n'ire at'alafia a to e wa, Baba loke a gbe e, Lamurudu a yee si, Oduduwa a r'ewa fun e, Ase!

Next, I thank those who believe in me and voted for me. Onlytruth, I thank you for the support and good words. Ify, thank you also for the backing. I wish these rascals will emulate you and put Chief in front when they address Negro. You all continue to support me.

To the troop of hooligans, the motor park touts, rascals and pimps, thugs and thieves, I saw your comments. . . . . you are looking for war! I will bring it to you.

In reading the various responses I was disturbed to see that the purpose and meaning gradually changed as the thread progressed to where people are talking about an Oba. Someone even said women cannot be Oba in Yorubaland. Really!

Anyway, this is not about an Oba, the OP said leaders who will take the Yoruba conscience from where it is now to where it ought to be if everything was done right and in line with the Yoruba Cosmological Philosophy. This philosophy sees mankind as one brotherhood. Plenty of times here we wonder why is Yoruba the only tribe accomodating those who are rejctes in other places or the only ones where different religions are interwoven through the family fabric and is not a threat to their bond and stability. Well, it is because of this consciousness. We are gradually straying away from who we are and this is time for re-calibration. We need need people who understand the standards and the specifications and can lead the cause for that renewal. We cannot love and help others until we, Yorubas can first love and support one another in our commonwealth family. Arole, please pardon me if my explanation preempts your intent and therefore correct me but this is my own understanding of that few sentences in your vision. Yorubaland first, then others after. So the OP has not really defined what structure he envisions for this leadership. It appears however that the Oba structure is popular. In that case, Oba does not rule alone. . . .he/she must have the Balogun, the Bashorun, the Apena, the Are, the Esho, the Ogboni council. . .and so on.

So I take the majority road. . . of those calling for an Oba. Looking at the list, if I am not the best candidate for the throne I don't know anyone else who is. It should help if Arole would write a brief list of attributes for why each candidate was selected.

We are talking about a political and cultural role. A political cauldron is different from a english laboratory, so what is Katsumoto's name doing in a political hotspot? It takes just one insurrection in his palace and ekt_bear will abdicate the throne before the demand has been made for it, what's his name doing here? Dayokanu is best suited for Balogun or Are. Are titles run in his compound.....DK, choose which you want, Balogun or Are? Outside of Lagos, Eko cannot tell you where the Yoruba domain begin and where they end. He knows everything about Fashola but nothing about Alaafin or Ooni. Why is his name here? Desola loves her homeland, not the commonwealth. . . why is she here? So beside myself, I don't know anyone else in here on this list that know the interior and exterior of Yoruba land, that understand the history and culture of our forefathers and the tributes and frontiers of our sovereignty and I can't see anyone of the candidates defending that territory passionately and tenaciously as Chief Negro would. Vote for me, Black. . . Dudu yemi, ajinbi oga ogun, ogb'ori olori kale lorun gan gan gan!!!

Having said all this, I equally wish to input here that in practical matters I am the best candidate for the throne but I am also the least available to run the affairs of office and the time commitment needed to put in. So I therefore recluse myself from contesting. In doing so, I impose my will as the kingmaker. To those supporting me, continue to do so.. .. .your support for me is a support for my endorsed candidate.

Thanks All and God Bless!
Boy your claims are false. There was a thread about Yoruba civil wars which I followed closely. That thread brought out the best Yoruba brains and you were vissibly missing. There is this chap called Coogar, he rqually did well though he was not nominated. Jarus would have been the best candidate for this role but he has pulled out.
I will now go for Katsumo, though Yorubas here do not know where he comes from. Am sure Katsumo is not my friend from Ghana called Quarcoopome-a teacher at Ibadan who knows Yorubaland more than the Yorubas.
As for DayoKanu, the role of a sports liason officer will suit him most. If its acertained that Kats is actually Yoruba, then let us give it to him.
PoliticsRe: Please Vote To Choose The Leaders Of Egbe Omo Odua On NL - Yorubas Only! by AndreUweh(m): 11:54pm On Apr 07, 2012
Katsumoto: There are many issues that need to be tackled in Odualand such as Education, Infrastructure, Security, moral decadence, etc. Given that most people know about these issues, how will having an Oba on NL help tackle these issues? Will the Oba have the ear of the powers that be? Maybe, otherwise what’s the point? Nevermind that most of the real Obas are not even concerned about the welfare of their subjects.

I believe that forums such as this can be used to discuss issues and potential solutions suggested by all who have the interest of Odua at heart. If there are those who are close to governors, senators, etc, then perhaps you can suggest to them to visit NL and read the views of well meaning individuals. There was a thread (I believe it was started by Ekt Bear) about whats next for the SW; there were a lot of suggestions on that thread especially about infrastructure development.

Odualand was almost destroyed by Obasanjo’s PDP; now the ACN is in power and is struggling to articulate a vision for most of the states in the SW. Save for Fashola, the rest are struggling. Aregbesola is wasting precious time attacking Mimiko for not being in ACN; Amosun is wasting time criticizing Daniel. Fayemi is about to waste funds building a new governors lodge. I am not even sure what Ajimobi is doing. ACN is not doing a good job as the opposition; it is criticizing everything PDP is doing wrong instead of find strategic issues to shout about.

Tinubu has done well in getting rid of OBJ but it is time for Tinubu to demonstrate his love of Odualand. It is time for the ACN to imbibe and inculcate the spirit of fairness and democracy as espoused the AG in the 1st Republic. I believe that the ACN should adopt the political ideology of democratic socialism as practiced by the AG in the 50s and 60s. If Tinubu is unable to articulate a proper vision, then he should step aside for someone else, maybe Fashola. Getting rid of PDP is not enough.

Rant over
WISDOM.

I have been to St Andrews, University of Aberdeen etc that were built over 400 years ago yet they did not fall on my head. So why U.I?.

bashr8: its not the best neither is iit the first , the first university is the university of nigeria , as for the best university , federal govt of nigeria are yet to publish official ranking on that so stop throwing false information all over the place.
The University of Ibadan is the first university in Nigeria established in 1948. No need to doubt it.

The best University in Nigeria-Unibadan is western Nigeria.
Unibadan is also the first university in Nigeria. It is in western Nigeria.

It's a pity Musiwa is not even considered as a Yoruba leader. Why?.

Uche2005: Chyz Andre Uweh, ikeyman00,ndu_chucks why do you want leader for odua people, why are igbo doing it
@Musiwa, the Yorubas felt they needed to be like their eastern counterparts decided to conduct a poll that will usher in their leader. Unfortunately, you were not considered probably because they do not want to opt out of Nigeria as you have ben preaching.

I have to warn them before they go astray. He has got nothing to offer the Yoruba nation other than bigotry.

The Yorubas will be dead politically if DayoKanu is elected Eze or Oba of nairaland Yoruba race. What does Dayo contribute here?. Nothing but Igbo this and that. Has he started any topic to uplift the Yoruba nation here. How can a war monger be chosen to lead this great race. This is shameful. Nairaland has a lot of people endowed with intelligence and brilliance. For example Jarus.
Jarus is a bridge builder. He has spent a lot of time with easterners, understands the easterners more than any nairaland Yoruba. He served in Hausaland and understands the Hausa-Fulanis and above all, he is a proud Yoruba.
Wise people of Yorubaland, apply your wisdom here.
PoliticsRe: Post Civil-war Reconstruction In Eastern Nigeria: Was there any? by AndreUweh(m): 7:27pm On Apr 06, 2012
It is an outright stupidity on the side of OW11 to suggest we forget the Biafran story. What an idiotic suggestion. The history of Eatern Nigeria will be incomplete without the Biafran story. The U.K govt features a lot of programme to mark the great war and WW11. Yet no one suggest they should through it away.
For those of you who do not know, £20 was issued to only those who had money in the banks. My father had over 15 hundred pounds in the then Barclays bank but got only £20 in return.
My uncle (late) had a house and undeveloped plot of land that was confiscated by the enemies and till date has not been returned. But his childeren have moved on. They have achieved x10 of that in Port Harcourt.

No need for election. They should just give it to Jarus. Others are trouble makers and will lead Yorubas to war.
Jarus, any time any day.

This poster is not serious at all. How can you nominate Desola to lead the Yoruba nation. A woman Oba in Yorubaland is an abomination. Moreover, most insults Yorubas get here are as a result of her behaviour.
The nomination should include Jarus, Jason, Musiwa and Alh Harem.

My vote goes for Jarus.
PoliticsRe: Imo State Govt Goes Igbotic?? by AndreUweh(m):
I believe Owelle's advisers lacks ideas. Why must structures be named after politicians. How about those that has contributed in other aspects of life in Igboland or Nigeria.
Professor Adiele Afigbo has done a lot of work in history and culture of Imo state and Igboland yet nothing has been named after him. Even in his native Okigwe the hotel and other structures are not even named after him.
How about Dick Tiger, Michael Echeruo, Ben Uwajumogu, RBK Okafor Nwakamma Okoro
Also how about Sir Warrior of the oriental brothers band; Gringory of New masquerade who died recently, or Claude Ekeh-Jegede Sokoya etc.
Chioma Ajunwa, Mobi Oparaku, Uche Eucharia etc are all from Imo state.
The man who wrote the first Igbo literature (Omenuko) that is still read today in Imo state-Pita Nwana is a forgotten man.
Am laughing at Okorocha's advicers. Shameless bunch.

I wonder the kind of parents in this modern day world will call their children all this archaic names you listed here.
I might as well tell parents in my part of Igboland to name their children as follows: Woyokorouwa, Odingalomeghi,Ariawa, Acharaeke, Apiaka, Udumaga, Ariawa etc.
My guy, move on as Ika people have moved on. Now they give their kids lovely names such as
Nwachukwu, Ikechukwu, Ifeanyi, Chukwuka, Udoka, Chijindu, Ndubuisi, Chukwuma etc.
