coolestboy: Not only university of Nigerian, you ought 2 av said Nigeria at large should be named after him. Prominent Nigerians with positive inflence have not been immortalize not to talk of a destroyer, a racial discriminator and an uncompatriot citizen who neva believed in NIGERIA should now be immortalized. NONSENSE Dude cool your temper, it is just an opinion. Awolowo never believed in Nigeria, yet The University at Ile-Ife was named after him. Ahmadu Bello believed in the north and not Nigeria, he also got a university named him at Zaria. In the east, there is no better thing to name after Ojukwu rather the University at Nsukka. Just my opinion. |

The University Of Nigeria Nsukka should be named after him. In my opinion, it should be called Chukwuemeka Ojukwu University of Nigeria-COUN, Nsukka. |

Beaf: This would be a fitting way to bring closure to the events that led to the Civil War and the embers it left behind. It would go to show that Nigeria values a men who employ courage and sacrifice for the common man.
A fitting monument would be a giant statue overlooking a museum and library complex.
A lion has gone home. May Ojukwu's soul rest in peace.

alj harem: LOL it is not only western friend but also the north. Moreover the burial site might be in Nnewi but the ceremony could be in other parts.
BTW, are you still in Nigeria or London ? The whole thing is too over-crowded. No more help fron the South west and the far north. |

alj harem: Why ?. You talk of Igbo tradition but yet are Igbos not human being.
Andre my friend Brother, If SW want to help out, then try to accept them. Stop being arrogant.
Same with other regions @Uche, even Nnewi people are capable of organising a befitting burial for Ikemba. But in this case, it is not only Nnewi nor Anambra state but the entire Eastern region. It is enough and even overcrowded. No more support from our western Nigerian friends. |

tpia@: No offence but imo swesterners should be included in the burial committee or even allowed to organize the whole thing.
Nothing personal- just that they're good at stuff like that. Your opinion is laudable, but because the Yorubas may not understand the traditions of the Nnewi people, they will struggle. Most Southwesterners do not understand Igbo peoples ways of life and as a result I ordered the expulsion of two southwesterners from a party hall in S.E London about two years ago. Reason, they were making noises during a blessing of kolanut ritual at Igbo end of year party. |

@One_naira, dont mind the dude. There is no Yoruba in the Niger Delta. Itsekiris are not Yorubas, has never been and will never be just as Idomas are not Igbos, has never been and will never be. The chap is looking for groups to take to his dream Benin republic. Even his own ethnic Yorubas do not buy his idea and will never buy it. This is 4 years now he has been pushing this dream yet to no avail. What a shame. |

. . . and Oh he said his people believed god lived in the sun and smoked pipe, have we Igbos at any time shared same sentiments? Eboe was the way slave masters and early Europeans spelt Igbo. Apart from the context you quoted, there were similarities in his books with the Igbo of 400 years ago and the Igbo of today. |

@Chinenye, do you intend to tell the World that Olaudah Equiano was writing nonsense. Here an Igbo from Ukwuani region wrote in the 17th century that he was an Igbo. You have read it yet you want to turn this simple logic upside down. I know how stubborn you can be but not where the evidence is there before you. Once again reread the original post. |

ChinenyeN: Well, when you say 'Ndigbo', it is seems obvious that you mean every group from Ika in Edo, to Ndoki in Akwa Ibom, Ekpeye in Rivers to whichever group it is that is in Benue; the now "Igboland". Am I wrong? Am sure there were slaves from those areas sold into the new world. This slaves of this regions saw themselves as Igbo. The writer of the book we are discussing here also saw himself as Igbo. As a consequence before, the imperial occupation of Igboland, the people knew and saw themselves as Igbo. |
