Ileke-IdI:
Let's hope that you have facts to back up your statement. Una still think we dey in the 1960s cheesy
Or you and the OP making statements based on what you see around your area?
Infact Ekitis, one of Nigeria poorest state travel out more than the Ndigbos. But when we think about the unequal population, then one can say Ndigbo travel out more than Ekiti ppl. But in reality, 5 Ekitis to 1 Igbo.

PS: What happened to writing Igbo on the 2010 US census? Not enough ppl? undecided
Even within the Yoruba race, Ekiti people are not the most travelled.
Take it or leave it, the only country Yorubas travel more than Ndigbo is the U.K.

This is a plus in Nigeria. This means you stand a really good chance.
Remember that Gani was loved; Solarin was loved; Abiola was loved; Awolowo was loved. Did they get there? Hell no.

So, you have satisfied the most important criterion, I tell ya.
Are you sure those two in bold were loved?.

Most Nigerian songs that use our native language use Yoruba language.

Most slangs used outside of Nigeria have a relationship with Yoruba language.

Most foreigners who want to learn or study a Nigerian language choose to study Yoruba. Titi Oyinbo and her colleagues, among others, can bear witness to this.

Yoruba people seem to travel outside of Nigeria more than any other Nigerian tribe (this is based on anecdotal evidence, so don't crucify me).Anyone who disagrees with me should say so, but please do so civilly.

The only country in this World where the Yorubas travel more than Ndigbo is the U.K.
Even the Edos, Ibibios and Urhobos travel out of Nigeria more than the Yorubas.
I will not crucify you for your shallow knowledge.

Do you not know where, whom and how I get a copy?? C'mon, pull some strings.
I want my parents to see it and also whet my siblings' appetite.

When is the next event?? I need to know so as to plan ahead.
Iri Ji Igbo Youths U.K comes up October every year. It is an annual event.
As for the video copies of 2010 edition, I will make enquiries towards that.

Andre, is there a tape/video for this event?? If yes, how do I get hold of a copy? I don't mind paying for it if I have to.

I was wondering if the event was organised again this last december,
Nna, happy new year. It's really been long.
There were many video copies of the event then. I do not have any copy left. But I still have copies of 2009 edition.
Iri ji Igbo Youths was held in Camden, London last October. It was great.
I play a secondary role now. The guys in charge are doing alright.

ChinenyeN:
Though Ngwa has historical, ethnic and ancestral ties with many villages and communities in Rivers, Ngwa will never be part of the state. Since 1915 (immediately after British rule ended), Ngwa has always maintained an official demand for a separate state. We cannot even conceive of being part of Rivers.
How many Ngwa people have you come in contact with, who actively engage in these types of discussions? Nnaa, Ngwa people don't talk. In fact, you'll be hard pressed to find where an Ngwa is letting others know that he/she is Ngwa, not to even talk of their thoughts and opinions on these types of topics.
Yea, they don't talk, but when they do, they are not insane to say they are co-Igbo. Mbatuku, Beneli etc are Ngwas but they are not insane to say they do not believe in Igbo unity.
Did you say 1915, do you have any evidence that suggest that Ngwa has been pushing for a separate state since 1915?.
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by AndreUweh(m): 10:53pm On Jan 02, 2012
^^^Owa in my own part of Igboland means east (Owa anyanwu). Owa could have meant east from Benin. But this is just my personal assumption.
Like Abagworo stated earlier, The Igbo groups East of Benin acquired from the Edos the aristocracy pattern of Bini. But before this, what you had in those areas were Nri culture and that exist till date.
Lets go back to the 1997 centenary of the Bini occupation. In 1997 the year of this anniversary, N.T.A did interview the sole survivor of the sack of Oba's palace. Am not sure if he is still alive now, the man spoke in Igbo. He was 8 years when the sack happened.
This goes a long way to show that Ndigbo were in Benin even till the sack of Bini in 1897.
Those who left Bini and moved eastwards are Igbo people.

NRI PRIEST:
Andre nwanne, daalu soo, inugo. I clearly need more education on this Anioma issue.
Andre, whats the ambiguity between Ika and ukwuani Igbos ?
Ika--One of the 4 Igbo groups west of the Niger.
Ukwuani-the largest of the 4 Igbo groups west of the Niger.
The other two Igbo groups west of the Niger are the Oshimiris and Aniochas. Bulk of the midwest officers involved in the Nigerian crazy moments of 66-70 hail from here. They are very proud Igbo people despite the genocide carried out in that region by our enemies.
CultureRe: The Official Ukwuani Thread: Ukwuani Bu Ani Eze by AndreUweh(m): 10:27pm On Jan 02, 2012
NRI PRIEST:
Andre, about the Ngwa dude you were refering to; cant you see what is going here ? That boy think he can use Igbo platform to sell their selfish Ngwa agenda! Do you think Ngwa ppl will still be calling themselves Igbos if it was possible for the gov to add them into the present Rivers huh
From their behaviours here it will be easy for me to call an Ibibbio person a brother faster than I can call an Ngwa person.
Ngwa will still call themselves Igbo people. Not every Igbo group in Rivers are confused as the Ikwerres. The Asas, Etches, Egbemas, Ndokis etc are fond of their Igboness.
That Ngwa chap surprises all here. Ngwas are not like that.
My happiness is that there is no particular group called Igbo. Igbo is an envelope sealed with all groups who speak close and related dialects. Those who want to opt out should do so individually. This is the problem I have with Agbontaen in another thread.
As for the Ukwuani's a lot of them are proud to be identified as Igbo. I remember Power Uti vs Ox Baker wrestling fight in the east about 20 years ago. Power Uti an Ukwuani son clearly identified himself as Igbo and spoke how the Igbo spirit in him has led to him being a world champion.

CultureRe: The Official Ukwuani Thread: Ukwuani Bu Ani Eze by AndreUweh(m): 8:31pm On Jan 02, 2012
@Nri Priest, you have done well. But you are mixing Ika with Ukwuani. UKWUANI is different from IKA. Agbontaen is primarily concerned with his Ika and not the entire Delta Igbo.
What the Ngwa chap you are refering here has maintained is that he is first Ngwa and secondly Igbo.
There is no two ways about it, Ukwuani is 100% Igbo.
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by AndreUweh(m): 12:03pm On Jan 02, 2012
Abagworo:
The issue of Owa has long since been settled by the Obi himself but Agbotaen whose real name is Solomon Omojie has been going about trying to create an Owah of his own where his family produces the Obi and do not speak Igbo. The Delta Igbos are mostly of Nri, Awka and Isu descent while the rise of Benin attracted people of different ethnic groups to go and work in Benin or even join the Benin army. Most of the Benin people that migrated Eastwards were trying to get back home after falling out with their hosts or the Oba. They settled among Igbo speakers and influenced them with the culture of Benin.

In a nutshell most Anioma people are Benin cultured Igbos.
Happy new year Nwa Imo, Aku Nwata na Oguta.

Could you please provide a reference to a resource where the obi of Owa claimed the Owa people to have originated from Nri.
Nobody was born with information and it is not a crime not to know something, rather awareness of your lack of knowledge and being unwilling to learn is the crime, we all learnt whatever it is we know and Unlike you my friend, I do not make assumptions, I make statements based on personal research, and if I said I was made to believe a wrong history of the Edos in the past, it is simply a result of my lack of knowledge of the history at that time and not a reflection of my intellect at present.

As for my post being to long and boring, I am not here to entertain you, I simply posted to express an opinion about a topic and if you were someone who wanted to learn you would have simply read it and made reasonable comments and not spilling words of abuse.

I would also like you to explain why the Ika people and the Benin people share the same culture and many traditions if they weren't of a single origin?

As for me being biased and pathetic, I think you should take another read through your posts, you seem not to have taken in anything agbontaen, I and other People posted about the Ika and Benin links, you appear to be hellbent on forcing the Ikas into the Igbo group, I don't know what could be so biased.
My post was made to provide information for us all in this forum to come to a better understanding of the Ika people and their origin, but you seem to have turned everything into a slew of abusive words and verbally derogative statement.

Speak of pathetic, it is you who is pathetic for not knowing a better and a more mature way of responding to someone you haven't even spoken with before, as a matter of fact you seem to have established yourself on this post as a slowpoke. Do you even know what pathetic or biased mean?

Please Andre if you can't respond as an adult, you shouldnt reply to my post or even be on this forum.

Thank you.
Dude, you made a mockery of yourself in your first post. How on earth can a Bini man not know that he is not Yoruba until recently?.Where you born by a bini family and given away for adoption to a Yoruba family when you were less than one year. Then after the age of probably 25, your parents now informed you that you are Bini and not Yoruba. If not for a case like this, then your logic is turned upside down.
Also, you lied through your anus that you have gone through this thread from the beginning yet you did not see the post about Obi of Owa where he claimed that there roots are from Nri, now that another poster has exhumed that particular post, yet you ignored it.
A proud Igbo from Ika called Ogbuefi1 here wrote extensively about their Igboness yet you ignored it but only saw logic in what Agbontaen wrote.
Dude, quit this thread and stop displaying additional stupidity here.
