agaugust: south africa only produces tactical weapons and support systems, nigeria produces both tactical and strategic weapons and support systems. Rooivalk helicopter is tactical. High Tech Spy Balloon operating from space is strategic, it will change the result of a war and give one military a very powerful advantage over the other military.

it is s game changer. it is very vital in modern warfare. it is one of america's greatest source of its super power.
actually the balloon is tactical and low tech at that, any nation with a basic aromatic knowledge base could pull it of.

the global world war II and america-korean wars that @Andrewza claims for south africa, were they your own wars ?

i proved you wrong with those weblinks, nigerian army named Royal West African Frontier Force before independence and which later renamed nigerian army after independence, fought against Japan in Burma and defeated Japan's great army when the British army ran away from the d.eadly Japanese military's samurai spirit.

since you have become one of those trying to k.ill this thread by spreading falsehood or junk, i have put you on the list of people i will ignore when they make f00lish posts like @CraigB and @Kwame tut, i wont reply you @Msauza.

Truth is poison in the mouth of a south african.
There was nothing forcing us to join either WW2 or the korean war, far from it there were actually calls for SA to join germany in WW2 nor were we obliged to join the UN mission in korea. On both cases a indented SA took these decisions

NaijaPikinGidi: If an extraterrestrial TV communications satelite can relay live streams of imagery to earth stations, what makes any spy/Comms satellite incapable of relaying the same images in realtime? As usual when common sense becomes non-existent in your tiny skull, must you resort to insults? Clearly, your comments are a reflection of your low-intellect. You may keep running round in circles just to avoid facing facts. I know your type!
The way it works is has such.

Spy satlite gets a point to focus on, pic or vedioe gets taken, then set to a control stastion. Right now it is all live. I don't know if nigeria is this eefctive but It is possibile. Here is the problem. From now on it is not live. The nigerian milltary does not have data link.

weblink of nigerians soldiers who defeated Japan's army in Burma forest jungle battles of world war II, the British army failed to defeat Japanese army in the deadly thick forests of Burma, then they deployed Nigerians to fight and win the war that saved the white men of europe, years 1940 to 1945.

Durring this time period there was no nigeria. The collianal army was started, funded, armend, trained, led by britsh power. During WW2 and WW1 SA actually decleard war has a nastion.

agaugust: it does not bother me at all, you are just wasting your own time posting comedy verses.

several great military countries of the world top 20 military powers have no history of real major or minor modern day war and they are all ranked above the head of your south africa, list includes sweden that sold Gripen jets to you...and your dutch masters holland. modern day war i said....not 1870 war of out-dated weapons

Turkey
South Korea
North Korea
Brazil
Norway
Greece
Denmark
Holland
Taiwan
Algeria
Belgium
Sweden

all these nations are superior to south african military, yet they have no war history at level we are talking about...so what ? you get h.ead ? you think ?
sweden is a neutril country(though they are in afghanstan where they are useing the SA made RG32 and holand fough in ww2 and countied to fight even after the fall of there homeland.

not to menstion since when have the dutch been the masters of any one in SA

all so who rated those countries a website that gives numbers of tanks but not the type?

SK and NK have been at war since the 1950s

tawian is thenicaly at war with china

greece and turky have exchanged blows with each other, though who put greece on that list in the first place is a mystry

sweeden took part in the air war vs libya and have ground forces in afghanstan

since when is bellguim top 20 they have hand me down dutch ships

and who sayes algeria is better than sa. in certain areas maybe but the rest is debatbil.

alot of the countries on that list use sa made and inveted weppaons and sytems

patriot4: For the pphone to function you need to pay a phone company every month.
That is something which someone living Under one dollar a day can not afford since he can merely afford food.
And your claim of about 100 million phones being stolen has had me doubting your sanity.
What you call a fact is actually an other one of those crazy things South africans like to say about Nigeria.
There was a time when one of you thought our Navy consisted of canoe boats, there was an other one who thought our airforce had no aircrafts, there was one who thought Nigeria was a jungle, ... it is getting tiring
since when do you have to pay every month to keep the phone working? even a contracted phone will just end with you sime card being blocked but a pre paid sim card does not need any such thing

when did i say 100 million phones where stolen, show me where i said that?

when did any of of such thing any things on those lines?

patriot4: It doesn't matter, those are things that you can not afford if you live Under one dollar a day.
Simple logics, mobile phones as well. So use your brain.
it about 243 rand a month a hawker will cell a phone assuming a once of purchase of a stolen or second hand phone in a good month it is not hard to see them in general use. Has i said Cell phones are very common in Africa

All so how many of those subscription belong to more than one person, how many are repurchases of stolen sim cards extra extra.

Fact is you arguing with a known fact that nigeria has over 100 million poor people

patriot4: Look kid, you don't get the point: people living Under less than one dollar a day can not afford DSTV. But 130 million Nigerians can afford DSTV, so since the Nigerian population is 175 million, your claim has just been proven wrong. Get that into you teenaged head.
MTN and DSTV are not the same.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 7:11pm On Jun 20, 2013
sheyie2007: if that's true, then mtn would have denounced the fact that they generate most of their revenue in Nigeria, additionally, the number of connected Nigerians wouldn't be over 130 million.. Dstv would have moved to ghana... Just saying grin
cell phones and sim cards are cheap. I know many unemployed people with cell phones. Land lines are on the other hand expensive.

sambos994: If I go to my village, i wont see any starving people or poor people...
really explain not poor.

has for starving remember the vast majority of employment in nigeria is subsisted farming. So really not hard to believe. regardless they still poor by any body in the lower middle class level. put it this way i have a pretty low salary yet i own(has in mine not a contract or credit) a i7 laptop with 8gb ram, how many villagers own that, or a car that actually new. Come to a SA township and people living in shacks can afford DSTV. simple fact is around 100 million nigerians earn less than a dollar a day.

did south africa too fight war against israel, germany, russia, italy ? no. south africa fought war against tiny cuba nation as small as only 10% of south africa,
the size of one small state kwa zulu natal in south africa that is the tiny cuba that fought a whole south africa to standstill you could not defeat cuba for 8 years of war !

tiny cuba had zero war experience and its army was built of young conscripts drafted with very little military training

cuba was about to win, then south africa called for peace negotiations.

we have discussed this topic over and over again.

cuba had USSR support, south africa had AMERICA, CHINA, and also ISRAEL, FRANCE ,BRITAIN.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African_Border_War

b.iafra was a nation officially recognized by many countries, and i had more soldiers than cuba. period.
you do know that cuba had a lot a military victories, even stopped a american funded and backed invasion at the bay of pigs.

Angola was all so the test bed for a number of Russian weapons and systems.

If you compare casualties and the size of the forces used you will notice a very small south african force was able to hold back a far larger force.

SA received limited support from other countries and only in the beginning. By the time the war was near the end SA was alone.

SA never wanted to conquer angola but instead stop the ANC, the peace deal that ended the war had theses pointers. all foreign forces will leave angola including the ANC, cuba, SWAPO and SA.

and then when you leave the city and go to the rural areas, or ask how many people that money will support, extra extra.

patriot4: Well the Biafran airforce was able to bomb its targets, so by any coherent definition, it was an effectif air foce.
An you have started to sound like a cracked disk. There are numerous documentaries of the Nigerian civil war. Even the US army studied the Nigerian civil war closely.
It was effective due to the fact nigeria was inffective.

So now you admit it was a civil war.

Yes it is stuidied. It even gets a menstion in the SA defense review. It show how power full a rebell force can get. Does not change what it was.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 10:22am On Jun 20, 2013
patriot4: Biafra was recognized by France and by Ivory Coast among others. But still, I don't think you need foreigner's recognition in order to be a country. In an intelectual level, foreigner's recognition is meaningless.
So why where they notpart of the UN then.

So then are all those regions and many many more countries. What about somliland, BH nigeria, nigerian delta region extra extra.

Simple fact bifra was not a country.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 10:12am On Jun 20, 2013
patriot4: The Nigerian armed forces was originally a small one. It grew during the civil war, and of course we had a verry small air force before the civil war, you have to remember that we had only been independent for 7 years !
The Nigerian armed forces of today is a formidable force which is battle tested.
Regaurdless jumping up and down over a few prop planes and saying it was a effective airforce during the 1960s is missleading. It just pointed out how ineffective the nigerian milltary was.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 9:57am On Jun 20, 2013
patriot4: You do realize you are talking like a child, don't you ?
As I told you, Biafra was a country, a breakaway country !
Have you understood that simple sentence ?
If Nigeria (the remaining part of the country after the eastern region broke away and called itself Biafra) had lost the war, then Nobody would even consider calling that war a civil war.
has that entered your brain ?
I also gave you an example where a breakaway country won and Nobody calls that war a civil war: "ethiopia-eritrea"
I hope you are more intelligent now.
It was never a country. It may have been a break away region but in order to be a country other countries have to reconize them has such.

Tamel controld the entire north of siri lanka at one point had a goverment a army, navy and air force. But at no point was it seen has a country.

There are parts of DRC that are full under rebel control does not change the fact they still part of DRC.

The border region of pakstan and afghanstan are controld by talbian. Yet there is no country called talbian.

During aparthied in SA there where a number of indpendent states (homlands) that SA decleard has countries. Yet they where not.

Fact is bifra was never a country.

The Biafrans managed to set up a small yet effective air force, details :

The BAF commanders were Chude Sokey and later Godwin Ezeilo, who had trained with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Early inventory included two B-25 Mitchells, one B-26 Invader (piloted by Polish WWII ace Jan Zumbach, known also as John Brown), a converted DC-3 and one Dove.

In 1968 the Swedish pilot Carl Gustaf von Rosen suggested the MiniCOIN project to General Ojukwu. By the spring of 1969, Biafra had assembled five MFI-9Bs in Gabon, calling them "Biafra Babies". They were coloured green, were able to carry six 68 mm anti-armour rockets under each wing and had simple sights. The six aeroplanes were flown by three Swedish pilots and three Biafran pilots. In September 1969, Biafra acquired four ex-Armee de l'Air North American T-6Gs, which were flown successfully to Biafra the following month, with another aircraft lost on the ferry flight. These aircraft flew missions until January 1970, flown by Portuguese ex-military pilots.

weblink source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biafra

nigeria fought war against a nation called b.iafra that had an effective air force.

b.iafra is a nation and not a person like charles taylor the rebel leader of liberia.
They where flying WW2 and ww2 style aircraft. The 1960 air force would have torn BAF to shreds

The fact that BAF gave you such a hard time showed that NAF was poorly aremed and trained and that air defense was unalbe to cope.

In the 1950s SAAF took on the north korean air force and in angola russia devloped air craft and tested them in angola. We where the first western country to get hold of a SA2 sam sytem. Your civil war was just that. A bump not a true war. I mean the tamil tigers had a air force and navy. Did not change the fact they where rebels.

world bank rejects nigeria poverty rate reports

Quote :

Even the World Bank has repeatedly said it has no confidence in the poverty index reports regularly issued by the Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) which recently released its National Poverty Index report, because "there is no reliable data with which to correctly measure the decline or increase in Nigeria’s poverty rate."

weblink source

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/issues-in-the-new-poverty-report/137011/

Current minimum wage in Nigeria is about $4 a day, but world standard poverty line is about $1 a day.

minimum wage in nigeria is 4 times bigger than world standard poverty line

the above quote settles the dispute of poverty rate figures, nigeria wins again !

.
You may be right I am going from memory here.

All nigerian goverment statistics are unreliabil and trust worthy.

What does minim wage have to do with it. Ost people in nigeria are employed in agriculter with subsited farming the most comon form, throw in uneployment in to that and it is easy to under stand.

Regaurdless you can say nigeria is poor and be correct. The wealth is very one sided with most of it not even reaching nigeria.

Hezron Lorraine: is south africa ever concerned.their xenophobia actively plays a role in their politics at times.
some points you seem to not get.

1. xenophobia is mainly based in and among the power aka those not in any power. THe rich and powerful have no problems with foreigners(or there money at least)

2. in order to grow the economy of SA we need more markets that means stable regions to sell to. The DRC is a example of this. The more stable it comes the better it is for SA firms operating there.

3.War creates refuges, and they kind of end up in SA so if a country is stable and well off it's people will not flood here.

4. SA is the biggest african investor in africa, no other african country has done has much has south africans.

all so about 10 million people in SA are foreigners that is about 1-5 the populations yet you say we all hate forgners. If that where the case why have they not all run away.

CAMEROONPRIDE: you don't help a country fighting a war if you don't have interests there. Israel doesnt like Arabs esp Egyptians and Syrian .they will do everything to put down Egypt and this is a great occasion, the camp David accords are a mirage, they simply hate each other. Also plenty Ethiopian live in Israel, there's no way Israel will go and bomb their country it will cause an internal insurrection.those people are also in the army.
correct the 2 countries are actually very close to one another since both are surrounded by muslims that don't like them

patriot4: I don't trust Israel, they might sell ethiopia out for Israel's own interests.
you really need to get in on the geopolitics, vs a arab country israel will not sell ethiopia out. Any thing that makes egypt weak (especially now with hardliners in control of egypt)is in there interest.

And every country is looking out for there own first.

2)most of those countries have very few populations.
Imagine if Nigeria had a population of 50million just like southafrica.
Though i believe in the long run,our population(human resources) will be a very important advantage.
over 100 million in poverty and you say not suffering?

let put it this way

SA poverty (or below 1 dollar a day) is around 10%
nigeria is at well over 70%

So what has your large population gotten you.

agaugust: T-craft hull you say you work on the same boat, post the source of its data, then i will post mine, thats the way we do on this forum, its a south africannavy boast you post its data first, due process.

nigerian archer two sources posted here many times :

end of page/bottom list of weapons http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/nigeria/army.htm
end of page list of users http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archer_Artillery_System

nigerian artillery rounds : nobody lists countries types of shells on any website, high end rounds HEAT, ARMOUR PIERCING etc have existed since 1939 world war II all over the world, nothing special, even poor countries have them.

so where did i lie, or you have proof that i lied ?

you were lying about south african satrellite for many days despite sources that were posted to prove you wrong.

now you want to change story and claim DSTV and other private companies business satellites are south african satellite that the military can use for war, when you were posting it was not DSTV you posted, it was the expired and d.ead crashed SumbandilaSat satellite, do you think we are F00LS here ?

its not easy to tell lies on nairaland and get away with it. you are a big time FRAUD !

.
No you made a cliam on on what the T-crafts hull is made from. I am saying out right that you wrong and I want that source you used.

I know of both those 2 sites and I don't trust them. I want a trusted source. Not even beegel menstioned archers. Hell not even those 2 sites (or should I say 1 since wikpeadia uses other sites has reffrenses) say nigeria received any nore is there any menstion of there sale to nigeria in janes, iss, sirp, extra. Bottom line they not in nigerian hands.

By high end rounds I mean Vlap, bas bleed, rocket assested. Only a few countries in the world use them and even less make them. And what HEAT arty round I have never knowen of any indireced heat round before.

DSTV is only one satlite. I all so posted a report where SA used satlits in CAR. Sunspace has built and launched 3 satltis so far
Suncat in 1999 out of fuel
SumbandilaSat launched 2009 suverd a solar storm damge still inorbit but not 100%
And sunspace medium resolustion satelite lanched 2007 fate and operate is unknowen.

Since non of nigeroas satlite are military any body with the cash could just rent a privat owend satlite and achieve the same result. It is pricy but would not break the bank of SA. Somthing you seemed to have not facted in.
