Boss13: As a banker, though not a GTBank employee, I find this story unbelievable. I want to decipher the story. The OP claims to have worked in a bank. These days there is Internet banking with transaction history where you can trace all your previous transactions without you walking into the bank and requesting for a bank statement. The nomenclature the OP uses makes me wonder if he worked in a bank. No bank freezes an account except with directive from prosecuting authorities. To freeze an account is to block all debits and credit entries. I think what was done was that a post no debit entry was placed on the account. The account has been termed to be fraudulent. Also, as a previous banker you should have seen the red flag when they tell you that a loan was advance to you via your savings account. Which bank advances loans to savings account? Oga if an erroneous credit was passed into your account and you have withdrawn it. You will have to pay for it. However, it is extremely sad that you were not informed about this. That is the reason why you should check your transaction history more often via Internet banking and you can still do this yourself. Also, which bank links a domicillairy account to a savings account? Please pardon me, my knowledge of the banking industry is making me not believe your story a bit not that I don't believe.

You do not need to go to court because the cost will outweigh the benefit. Visit their investigation unit and inform them about your issue, that is if your story is true. However, you should have done your own investigation. If you cannot get your transaction history for the aforementioned dates. Visit the closest branch to you and request for it. They will print it. Do your reconciliation, then visit the investigation unit and have a meeting with them (you must have done a formal letter first like 2 weeks before the meeting). I believe a conclusion would be reached during the meeting. If your problem isn't resolved properly, write a letter to the managing director. Express the pains you have been subjected to as a result of you not been able to operate your account.

Also, I have heard of some funny fraudulent stories been perpetrated in GTBank. Well, it is the same with all Nigerian banks. Please do not leave your account dormant. In the case you have no need to operate an account, move all funds to the bank of your choice. Dormant account are targeted by fraudsters because they believe the owner do not need the funds anymore or the owner might be dead. Always check your transaction history, all banks in this country offer this services free of charge. The moment you see a debit entry you are not comfortable with, call your account officer for explanation. Also do the same for credit entries else you would be facing the same problems with the poster. An internal staff might have done that deliberately so that he/she can withdraw the fund later. Please don't eat monies that doesn't belong to you.

My brother, take them to court because someone cannot be accusing you directly, that you stole their money and feel you can just seat and allow them accuse you directly.even if the money was wrongly credited and you made use of the money, the bank can only call you and work out repayment terms in which you can agree to be paying back 1,000k back to them without interest because it was their fault. Calling you thief is uncalled for.

Having gone through your post and your explanation,I would want you to note that you did not follow the case up aggressively when you were first told of this invisible loan.

When you were first notified and they said it was a loan, why did you not ask the said lady the documents showing that you took loan? Someone cannot tell you that you took loan and you did not follow the case up and later stopped using the GTB account for sometime and later started again without resolving the issue before re-activating the said accounts you have or had with them.
You are a banker and should know the steps to have taken to resolve this issue then,and they, the GTB officials, were still pointing accusing fingers accusing you directly in your presence that you stole their money and you never took drastic measure or even gone to get a lawyer to attack the bank and take them to court,knowing fully well that banks don't like going to the press or court.

In fact, as a banker, I feel you knew what transpired as regards to the said N102K and the 10,200 instead.

When you were first confronted by GTB bank, knowing fully well that you never took any loan from them and they pointed an accusing finger onto you in your presence telling you that you should own up and pay and you took it kindly then goes to show you actually utilized the said erroneous credit made to your account in which you were supposed to have reported back.
My wife went to her bank one day ,to find out her account balance, she was told that she had about 1,260,889.00 balance in her account. She knew she had only N268,889.00 as credit balance in her account and how N1,000,000 got into her account, she never knew. She informed the cashier that she does not have such in her account and from her records, she had only 260,889 and that the money should be reversed.

I think there is a mix up in your case because someone told you, that you took a loan and you never asked her to produce the so called documents to back up her claim. Other officers in the bank, directly accused you too, you never took drastic measure to take them to court and you later stopped using the accounts with them and later started after some years, still they kept accusing you, after a long time, they later opened up that it was an amount wrongly credited to your account of which you made use of the said funds, to me it makes no sense. I will go to court if I am sure that I have been wrongly accused.

The first one asking whether one can marry a physically challenged person" is not clear enough because she didn't elaborate clearly on whether she or the man is physically challenged. In the other thread she narrated how a man was fond of taking her money and not repaying her, she got good advise from nairalanders there. There's nothing wrong with helping a friend/fiance but falling mugu to a man that constantly borrows and does not repay is way too much. If it was this same man that she mentioned in that thread that is being talked about here then she has been on a long long thing.
