Taking advantage of people happens everywhere in the world. It's nothing peculiar to Nigeria. It's the duty of the government to create an environment that doesn't enable it. The people in America are not morally better than the ones In Nigeria.

I agree with this, many people who make it seem like Nigerians are worse than other nationalities morally keep on forgetting that Nigerians are very poor, economically, this country has been declining steadily for a long while now...

Though by and large, Nigeria can be said to be insecure due to bandits and local violent clashes, I still marvel on how this country hasn't totally broken down..It points to resilience, maybe a little religious hope/faith or even delusion and maybe, just maybe us as a people not being totally morally bankrupt and reprehensible as some people think...

Trying to take advantage of a failed system is natural human instinct and self preservation.
Nigerians can't even rely on credible elections and and strong institutions to hold people accountable, there really is no way out of the tunnel...A lot of people have realised this albeit subconsciously so this manifests itself as craftiness ..

I think there's also another angle to it , in my opinion, a healthy portion of Nigeria is literate, not necessarily educated but literate and exposed to what it feels like to live the good life by what they're exposed to on Social Media and this drives them to try and replicate the same things...

All in all, I do not completely agree with Obainojazz, I think putting principled Men and Women in every executive and legislative office in Nigeria changes Nigeria...Men and women that are willing to build strong institutions (think of the current Jamb registrar), and watch the Nigerian population fall in line because the environment doesn't forgive or encourage illegality..

My wife bought one sweet agbalumo(Udara) yesterday. On my way back from work, I bought from the same woman only for me to get home and madam told me she sold 4 for 500 naira to her just last night. Meanwhile, this woman sold 3 for 500 naira to me. Maybe because I was driving. She quickly took advantage. I went back immediately to collect the remaining one.

Everyone is taking advantage of every other person.

The government is a reflection of each and everyone of us.

Interesting article on the difference between Arsenal of last season and this season...
It touches a bit on the factors we don't consider as fans sometimes; things like load management across a whole season and setting your team up with that in mind..

It's detailed enough to base opinions off of and easy enough to understand...

Also, y'all should cut Arteta some slack, winning a league that has Pep managing in it isn't easy..

The article is a bit lengthy but it is worth the read...

There are many midfielders whose specialty is goals. From Lampard to Ward-Prose to Wijnaldum. Some do not even contribute significantly to control. Their job is to make a late run into scoring positions. I know that Wenger wanted Ramsey to grow into that kind of player. Meaning that goals can still be a yardstick to judge midfielders.

That said, there's what is called self delusion. That is someone trying to convince himself of what he knows is not true. What is not true here is that I said Havertz is a better player than Xhaka. When I have already said that though they are at par on goals but Xhaka gives more control. You are now free to believe what you want.

At the bolded, for Liverpool or for Netherlands?

Even at that, reducing what Lampard did for his team and what Ward does currently to just scoring goals doesn't capture their true influence on the pitch...
Bellingham has scored a lot of goals for Madrid, and while it has won them points and helped them lead La Liga, Bellingham is still an ever important player when he doesn't score...

A rb is what we need...

Palhinha, isn't he a dm ??
Maybe we do need a dm .. but we need a cm too..

Szobolosai has not been outstanding in that position passing wise..

Szobo's off the ball workrate is still exceptional, his ball winning too.
I agree his final pass has been a bit erratic these past few matches but they've been near misses(passes)... This hamstring issue will afford him a bit of rest and hopefully, he will be back to his best...

where does he fits in , in a 4-3-3

arrange the midfield using MacAlister and the new guy

First of, 433 on paper.. With Trent inverting, he would have the same heatmap Hendo had.. Which means he would operate high up the right side , McAllister on the other hand would be the LCM operating in the half spaces if we're in possession... Think of Szoboszlair as a Hendo replacement...

Nah, plus a backup RB ... and we have ourselves a complete tw ..

can't wait for the new season to start. gaddem!!!!

We aren't in desperate need of a RB, we have people that can cover there , also, out of possession, we still defend with a four at the back...

We need a LCB, we should realistically sell one of Robbo or Tsimikas this season if we plan to play this way (inverting Trent) but I'm too attached to both players and I guess the Manager is too...

Regarding the LCB, Colwill has impressed me most , he's young and he has premier league experience as well but Chelsea would sooner relegate than sell a promising player like that to a direct rival... Not to mention the cost, they rejected 30+ from Brighton....

So Van de Ven seems the most likely choice since we've been linked to him previously...

Gvardiol was actually Liverpool's plan from years ago but the boy exploded at Leipzig and turns out we didn't factor for that and now he's out of our price range🀣🀣...FSG🀑🀑

If Thuram makes it through the Euros, I reckon we'd sign him and have him power through from the 6 into the edge of the box with his physicality...If we sign Lavia, I don't think we will sign Thuram so we'd lose the physicality for a more technical player...Kone is almost out of the equation now as he picked up a knee injury in his last Euro's match..

All in all, we only have one non-homegrown spot left ...

I must have worded it wrongly...what I meant is that he's guilty of overplaying, running into traffic when a simple pass or give and go could create space...

I share the same sentiments as well.. Hopefully, all transfers or most get sorted before pre-season..

CAPdan21:

From what I've seen on both of them I'd prefer Kone...Thuram from what I've seen lacks composure on the ball and is not very press resistant, he's seems to be better creatively and has a nice long pass tho...With MacAllister coming in, we need a mildfielders with engine who's also press resistant...Even with all the talk about Bellingham I'd have preferred Tchoumeni by a long way..

Explain the bolded more..

If it's a case of we can only get one, then Kone would be my pick too.. Not necessarily because he's the better player but because we need a 6 more than a Cm right now; also a 6 who's press resistant...Thiago as good as he is is always 5 matches away from an injury..Kone will afford him more rest....
Fab and Hendo won't spend more than 2 seasons with us after next season so there's obviously space for new players, with this in mind, we would do well to cop both now then know we would have sorted our midfield for at least 5 years (Bajcetic, Jones, maybe Tyler and any other possible fringe player we may or may not acquire within that time frame).

Elliot, if he remains may just fight out that RW with Doak in our forward lines.. I hope Klopp integrates both slowly over the next two seasons to find out who will be long-term like he did with Trent and Gomez...

Our defense is looking light (with the rumours of Philips and Matip leaving) but one CB addition can hold for 3 seasons at least... Sepp could be recalled but he's had injury issues this season at Schalke and I don't know if it will be a recurring theme with him... He played only about 700 minutes in the Bundlesliga...

how did we not scout for the likes of this kone and Thurman last seaso,. Instead having to purchase an unplayable arthur..

I hope these player are/ do not get injury prone..

I hope we keep some of the existing midfielders for squad depth and rotation in the middle..

If injuries are your fears, then they aren't injury prone. Check FBref and transfermarkt for their minutes and availability...

The deeper issue is that Kone so far has been inconsistent in his performances.. We are getting a very raw player with potential and if we want to get the best out of him, we really need him here for Pre-season to work out some kinks....

Kone plays as part of a double pivot and is press resistant... Think of Thiago receiving the ball from the defence and turning..His tall and phyical which means he's not a player that gets bullied of the ball easily like Fabinho has been this season.. Being press resistant, he's also a good dribbler in tight spaces so he won't be booting the ball everytime at the first sign of trouble.. He's tidy in possession (during the build up phase), but his progressive passes are lacking- This is why
he's best suited as a 6 as opposed to an 8 of some kind..
On the defensive side, he doesn't shirk his responsibilities and is capable of putting in a tackle when needed.. With his size, he's capable of contesting gound duels without being outmuscled..
Something to note though is that despite his height, he doesn't win a lot of aerial balls which is something to be concerned about...

Thuram on the other hand has had a better season, he's benefited from being a deep player to becoming a CM.. His progressive passing is better than Kone which makes sense as to why he's now a CM..
Thuram is also a good dribbler when he's running up the pitch so he isn't averse to having the ball on his feet ... He's tall and physical too so we won't have a midfielder that gets bullied off the ball....
Something to note though is that for his height, he's also not impressive aerially... Something we would need to work on during pre-season... Defensively, he used to play as a 6 so he's not shy to put in tackles when he feels the need to...

MacAllister we know already so i won't bother..

not all of us. I knew gakpo was going be stationed at the middle since Nunez wasn't doing well there..

I read somewhere where KLOPP was describing how best to play Nunez he said Nunez loves to tilt to the left and all that.. So the moment gakpo was being bidded for , I knew the middle was where KLOPP would have him fixed....

Nunez is a striker albeit one who prefers playing the left channels... His pace makes him a nice option to have on the wings too.. Basically, though his dribbling and close control are average, his blistering pace is enough to burn fullbacks and that in itself makes up for other slight deficiencies..

Was just about to drop the news on McAllister ..

who's that player we're linked too from monchenglabach??

Kone... Plays in a Pivot for them, so can pair Trent in the Pivot if Klopp keeps inverting him. In essence, can sub Fabinho.. Also affords Thiago rest and let's not forget, Bajcetic...

If Klopp can get him to play to his best, we will be getting a physical midfield (+McAllister &Thuram) who can bully and assert their physicality.... Something we didn't have this season asides early season Thiago...
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Liverpool FC Fan Zone: Champions of England by AnfieldFan: 9:11am On Jun 01, 2023
Reports out of Argentina are saying the deal for McAllister is almost done.. Just a few things to hash out.. If they are to be believed, we will announce him in June...

We're also strongly linked to Thuram and Manu Kone...
Jim Ratcliffe owns Nice and is trying to buy into Man U, I don't know if he will sell to Liverpool but since he hasn't worked out anything with the Glazers towards buying , I'm optimistic it won't affect a deal...
I don't know how I feel about Kone though, clearly has potential, but has been underwhelming...

Also, we're reportedly talking with Van de Ven... Who Jon brought to Woflsburg, so I'll tale this one with a pinch of salt...

Your question on Cyberstalking can only be answered by the court. They will decide using the evidence available to them(and not us to determine such). Also, a lot of people on NL are cyber stalkers.

Finally, Your last question doesn't make sense. The police has 48 hours to request to remand anyone arrested for a criminal activity in custody for further investigation. If he is being detained after 48hours without court's permission, his lawyers would/should raise alarm since he is a popular figure. I however, believe that he was remanded in custody as cyber stalkers are a potential threat to live.

Anyways, the only GOOD thing I can mention about this Buhari presidency is his infrastructural push and that's prolly mainly because of the likes of Amaechi and Fashola.
I commend him for his dedication on rail Lagos-Ibadan Expressway & Railway. Lagos-Kano rail, 2nd nIger Bridge, coastal railway plan/devt, and the brilliant idea of Private organizations funding major road projects in exchange for tax rebate etc. (I'm even thinking it was engineered by the likes of Osinbajo). Jah bless who brought that idea. I believe that's the major reason the regime looks like it's working or their infrastructural projects has had any headway.

Asides that Buhari has performed woefully in every part of the economy or general outlook if the country. Security has worsened even tho Buhari has somehow spent the most in actively making our military modernised and well equipped and improvement in welfare.
Buhari to my understanding has performed well in equipping Nigeria military and somehow gaining the favour of the US. But his management of security in the country is abysmal especially when you take into account that he directly or indirectly encouraged widespread insecurity and brigandry.

In terms of HDI Buhari is far worse. Economy is worse off. Standard of Living is atrocious. Number of unemployment is prolly times two of GEJs. Economic outlook is grim. Even in sectors where the govt is actually working you hardly feel the effect cos almost all parts of the economy is fragmented and unlinked.

You're building railways and roads, building airport terminas fine β€” of what use would the infrastructure be when farmers and passengers can't use the rails and roads for transport when they're afraid to go to farms or transport due to banditry, herdsmen, terrorism and other forms of insecurity??
I feel this is one of the major reasons why no one feels Buhari's infrastructural push at all cos the economy is disconnected.

Add all this one stupid CBN anti-people policies. The other time was ban on bitcoin etc, BDC fight, now naira redesign. They try to build up a part of the economy and ultimately erode the gains they've had with one $tupid policy in another.

You might say GEJ had widespread corruption but the country wasn't this bad in his time. Under Buhari you have widespread hyper-inflation nationwide. Deterioration of the currency due to money printing by CBN.

CBN and Bank Of Agriculture usually mouth off how they've invested in agriculture and always drop statistical claims how they've improved upon agriculture and grown the sector but in real terms it seems it premium regression. Prices don't drop instead it increases. Food inflation is off the charts. I'm hardly seeing value added to domestic agric produce. Hardly even meeting local consumption is the order of the day. So these claims all seems wash to me.

I don't even want to talk about education or healthcare.

One thing about Jonathan's era was that they were stealing aplenty and wanton spending but somehow they found a way to make the private sector drive the economy through policies.
This is how Lagos has been working. There's the general belief that Sanwo Only didn't really do anything of note amongst lagosians. But that doesn't hinder the state in anyway cos the state has been modelled in a way it works for itself or private sector drive it's economy. Govt just sit down and make progressive policies.

Nobody can talk about corruption and be comparing Jonathan and Buhari regime and I'll take them serious supporting bubu. This is a govt were wanton stealing was happening. Imagine make people steal money and you'd be hearing "snake and monkeys and crocodiles swallowing monies". That wasn't the case with GEJ, at least they steal money with their full chest. This one go steal money but steal dey treat us as f00ls with gaslighting. 🀑

Why has crude oil production been consistently dropping to the point we were not top 3 in Africa. It's only just recently last month OPEC said Nigeria's now the largest producer in Africa. And that's if this people don't decide to steal more and drop the production like they've been doing.
