Have u considered you could be the reason he's been acting like this lately and wants a break in the relationship? I mean if he proposed to u like u said, its becos he wants to marry u.

Have u been nagging a lot lately, putting so much pressure on him? What's his financial status and do u know if he's READY to take up the responsibilities of having a home?

Sometimes, especially in a relationship that have lasted for so long, the love and the affection starts wearing out. A partner might think he's been in a place for so long and needs to try new things. I think he's going through that phase in his life and ur naggs and quarels are not helping him out.

Give him a little space, not entirely but enough to let him think through this. Do things to make him re-assured that u're the same girl he fell for and proposed to. Ask him about his problems and what u can do to help him through them. He'll definitely start having a rethink about taking his "break".

But whatever u do, don't go over the top with it so u don't seem too desperate.
