Can the IG instruct the CP on Ibadan to immediately investigate what led to such reckless action by the SARS officer and dismiss him from the NPF immediately? That guy is a prospective killer of innocent Nigeria youth
this is the number one problem of sars. theyve become so unruly because no one has been held accountable. if the police had dismissed one or two commissioners and DPOs untop their matter, the remaining top officials would be serious in handling the unit.

these people arent ghosts, they know themselves, they know the bad ones amongst themselves, they can easily point at whosoever commits an atrocity within themselves.

the unwillingness of the top ranking officials is whats causing this much rot, and thats because they collect returns from these young and notorious criminals. the same problems rocks the nigerian army and their fight against bokoharam

...to be redeployed to where again!!!!!!!!!
we want all of them sacked, retired, removed completely from every and any form of armed service.
can we just be REAL and REASONABLE for once?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you seriously think police would disengage sars personnel all across the countryhuh no amount of protest would make that to happen, and govt would only tell us want we want to hear.
we still have a long way to go in this struggle abeg.

you sef reason am...... if a notorious sars official is sacked what do you think such person would result to? a person who understands the whole architecture of the police force! please lets leave emotions and think like humans....abeg.

this process would take a couple of years. from changing the recruitment process to properly checking the excesses of the current ones, phasing them out of the force and reintegrating them to the society. not to mention better welfare (a constable earns less than 50k monthly).

the best we can do is to keep putting fire in the ass of the govt so they dont relent in making things better

The NPF needs a wholistic reconfiguration with the ban of SARS. SARS was formed to battle armed robbers and kidnappers in 1992 in lagos. in early 2000 , sars units were created nationwide due to increasing violent crimes. 10 years later, Internet fraud became popular and armed robberies becoming old fashioned . sars guys were becoming idle, no more action , no money. efcc guys are living like Saudi princes.sars were envying efcc guys and decided to have their share of proceeds of frauds.
the truth is that era of rampant armed robberies has gone. this is new era of Internet fraud. they do not have training to handle cybercrimes. many innocent ones have been harassed and killed by sars. follow PoliceCRU and segalink in twitter and read bad experiences people had with sars. sars are friends of yahoos and criminals. they visit real yahoos monthly to collect 'salaries'. it is when they fail to meet their 'targets', they resort to extorting any youth. sars personnels should be deployed to fight bandits as SWAT team while government devotes more resources to efcc and icpc to have presence in every lg.
This is the kind of stuffs we should be engaging in now. Ways to improve the whole security architecture.

While I agree with your take on efcc being closer to the lg, I think SARS still need to be close to the society too. Coz it'll take no time for robbers to start terrorizing again. One million boys is a testament to the fact that hoodlums would take the slightest chance to strike.

If SARS personnels and Senior police officers are made more accountable, this menace would stop. Jail term, capital punishment and dismissal for senior officers who fail to monitor their squads would be a good way to start.

I hope this protest does not die down easily but continue until it sparks a chain of reaction for the much needed revolution. My earnest prayers is for the government to do nothing, and block their eras, so that the protests can escalate, and finally liberate the country.

protest is good, as long as its not violent. coz at the end na still we masses go suffer am when hoodlums take over.

baba, lets reason together and leave sentiments.
if they disband sars, those guys would still remain police officers and still continue with their notorious acts.
their access to fireamrs and the lack of justice in the system is the reason theyre still carrying out this their wickedness.
if the system had been putting them in jail or life imprisonments for every mayhem theyve done, it wouldnt have been as much as it is now.

one million boys would be a child's play if there had been nothing like sars..... lets start reasoning and suggesting what reforms would be best for everyone

While we are asking for SARS to be scrapped, we should also be suggesting alternatives to armed robbery menace. This has to a be a balanced discussion since many are against its reforms. This campaign is very similar to what happened in the US when protesters were asking the the police be defunded. When you define the police, how will they perform this duties of protecting the citizens?
Some people even went as far as saying that SARS did nothing to curb the menace of one million boys.

The older ones would remember when third mainland bridge was a den of robbers.

Car trackers became a huge business coz of high way robbery and car snatching.

Banks didn't start using security doors without a reason.

We'll go back to those horrible days in less than a year if SARS is disbanded, especially when you consider how difficult things are presently.

SARS is not the problem. I think this end sars protest is being sponsored by the govt to distract the youths, we should be protesting unemployment, fuel price hike, electricity hike, restructuring etc.
If u end sars will it stop them from harassing the youths? They are still employed by the police, and can still use that medium to harass people.
Since we've finally had the courage to protest, I suggest we channel it to the right quarters
you get point...but people no wan reason.
the only difference sars have is the gun they carry. they arent different rom every other nigerian govt institution.

You sound like u were born yesterday, SARS has been in existence since the 90's it's not a new agency, over 20 years ago they existed. Like everything in Nigeria it rots as it gets older. They started recruiting convicts.
It seems you haven't met SARS police close up before, we are talking about ex convicts here.
For the past 15 or 20 years, robbery has been going on and it's recent decline wasn't because of SARS that has been existing over 20 years ago.
When 1 million were disturbing, there were no SARS in my area it was d RRS parading, even on the news it was the RRS patrol cars we saw Not 1 single SARS, the street vigilante did more than the police. Name one area where u heard of SARS stopping one million boys.
SARS are meant for special armed robbery, they come in regular cars like seinna and camry.
It's obvious u can't differentiate between sars and other police
Until u get extorted or shot at then you will come to your senses.
its you who just sounded like you dont know much.
you just sounded like sars has never been of any good or help.
you just sounded like there was never a need for sars and the nigerian police didnt know what they were doing when they established sars.
i repeat, if you were old enough to remember when armed robbery was still armed robbery, you wont be calling for the outright cancellation of sars.

the problem with sars is the same problem with everyother institution in nigeria.
give an average nigerian a gun and he might become worse than a sars official.
take away a gun from a sars official and he becomes an average greedy and quick-money seeking nigerian.

sars needs a reformation a nd not an outright disbandment

SARS are criminals that have stayed long in prison, then they use them to catch thieves, they are not specially trained or anything like that. Have u met them close up, one came to cut his hair and I was leaving while he was coming, looking like a thief and smelling awful. I almost ran I until I saw d sars on his jacket
There was a Bank robbery in June after they eased d lockdown, what did sars do about d one million boys? Don't deceive yourself, gov can't reform SARS, with in a month it's back to the same story. A criminal will always be a criminal when you put a gun on his hands
How old are you?
If you know what robbery use to be like 10 to 15 years ago, you won't be saying all these.

Why are Nigerians calling for restructuring? Why can't we say we don't want any government anymore because the present government has failed us?

You mentioned bank robbery that happened in June lol. You surely have no idea of what bank robbery used to be. Neither do you know how notorious places like third mainland bridge used to be once it's evening.

Can you swear with your life that SARS did nothing at all during one million boys raid? Or you think it was those community vigilante that stopped one million boys? Yeye.

Be very careful of what you ask for coz if SARS is scrapped totally, y'all wouldn't be able to face the repercussions for just a month, especially now that things are very hard.

Lastly, where were these celebrities when one million boys were raiding? grin grin Did they join to do vigilante? grin grin They were all chilling in banana island and DJing their appeals on social media.

When the trouble starts, These people are gonna hire private security or even get escort from Nigerian police and leave y'all alone.

SARS aren't normal police nor dss.
They're trained to chase and kill robbers. With proper reforms everyone would be alright.

You won't ask for SARS to be totally dissolved if you think deep enough.
By the time robbers terrorize people, I wonder the hashtags they'll use.

Restructuring is the best that can happen.

Hmm, guys I hope this meets you well. I post this to give you hope. I applied for the position of Technical Support Advocate at Tek Experts on the 7th of June 2020 via a link from a class mate who joined them few months ago. To cut the story short, I thought the whole process would go like that of my classmates who applied earlier this same year and had undergone all their recruitment process within the space of 2 months and has gotten an offer from them. So I thought I could resume by August but as fate may have it, I just got an offer and I'm to resume this month. What I'm trying to say here is that, I really wanted to work in a tech company and after going through the required processes since July the 7th, I didn't hear from them again, it saddened me and due to lock down I was just at home hoping to get an offer from companies I had applied for. Infact, I had written off Tek Experts, like they won't call me, maybe their processes weren't fair enough because I know I had performed very well at the assessment, interview and so on. You know what, for those of you that recently finished your service (be it 6 to 18months ago), don't start negotiating too high especially when you know you didn't serve or gather experience in a tech company before coming. Infact, I feel level 1 is where your salary figure would be placed. So leave high negotiations to those applying for a level 2 role for they are experienced.

I'm happy that I was eventually called after all the processes since July 7th, 2020.
Thanks for the encouragement.
I'm assuming you would be resuming 5th of this October, right?
If you don't mind, I'll like to connect with you so you can help me with up to date info. Can I send you a private message?

Being prayerfull is actually different from your behavior
We've seen people who don't pray and they are very cultured

Understanding matters in a relationship

Chinese ain't prayerfull and I can say most of them doesn't know God
They are mostly Buddhist

Their marital relationship tend to last longer

Understanding is the key
Prayer is optional
ahh, God bless you brother!
thats how africans swallow everything from pastors and turn out miserable at the end.
communication that brings about understanding is what makes marriage thrive, but Nigerians with their blind religion are always coming up with silly cliches and rules. thr so called spiritual ones are the most rigid and sturbbon, so unwilling to unlearn the junks they had been fed.
