Politics › Re: Religion: Who Will Succeed Tinubu After 8 Years? by another1: 10:35pm On Mar 19, 2022 |
Penguin2: As Tinubu proponents continue to try to market Tinubu’s ambition to naysayers, one of the greatest hurdles standing in his way right now is his religion.
The argument is that it will be insensitive to the yearnings and feelings of Nigerian Christians for Tinubu who is a Muslim to succeed a Muslim Buhari.
But even if we were to overlook that, another question is who would be his Vice? Northern political and religious stakeholders have made it clear that the region cannot be represented by a Christian being that they are predominantly Muslims. So if Tinubu must garner votes from the north, he must choose just another Muslim from the north as Vice. That would be a Muslim/Muslim ticket and if they succeed, they are likely to rule for 8 years. Now, when you add Buhari’s 8 years, that would 16 years of Muslim rule in Nigeria.
Then comes the question of who would be Tinubu’s successor after his likely 8 years in 2031 supposing he was to win 2023. Going by zoning, power would naturally return north and the north being predominantly Muslim would naturally prop up a Muslim to take their slot. Supposing he too were to be victorious at the polls, he would go for another 8 years as is guaranteed by the constitution, right? Now, add Buhari’s 8 years to Tinubu’s 8 years to Tinubu’s northern successor’s 8 years, that would amount to 24 years of Muslim rulership in Nigeria.
These are not conjectures, they are facts as they are.
Now, does it make sense that Nigeria, a country of diverse people and religion would have 24 years of people from same religion being in charge? Is that how national cohesion and social integration would be built and cemented? Will Muslims be comfortable to have such long years of Christian rulership without causing social chaos?
So, even as it’s Tinubu’s constitutional right to aspire for the presidency, and even as we might give him credit, to an extent, for being the first engineer of the new Lagos which demonstrates his capacity, his ambition, if it succeeds, would disrupt a lot of social order and glue that holds the entity and union called Nigeria together.
To avert such disruption, it is therefore imperative that Tinubu realizes the near impossibility of the materialization of his ambition and supports a Christian Southerner to succeed Buhari rather than continue to pursue a futile ambition.
Penguin is a bird of reason!

Politics › 2023: I Will Return To Farm If Buhari Backs Tinubu -ojudu by another1(op): 8:39pm On Mar 19, 2022 |
Special Adviser to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Political Matters, Babafemi Ojudu, has vowed to return to farm than support Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition. Ojudu said this in an interview with a media entrepreneur, Chude Jideonwo, on Saturday. He insisted that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo remains his preferred candidate. Asked if he would change his mind if he Buhari supports Tinubu, Ojudu said, “Never. Take that from me, write it down today, I will go back to the farm. If I don’t believe in you I will not work for/with you. “We are still waiting for Osinbajo to come and tell us if he is running. I personally will want him to do so, but he has not come out, so we will wait, and there is still time. “If I support Osinbajo, he deserves to be supported… I see the way he works, day and night, committed, not asking for things for himself, committed to the people, committed to Nigeria and well educated. “He can stand his anywhere in the world, comfortable with the young and the old, conformable with new technology and always coming out with solutions to problems. I mean, it doesn’t cost me anything to align with such a person. “What am I looking for in life? I’m looking for a better society, a society where everybody can realise themselves. I’m looking for a society where some people will not pile all of a country’s resources into their accounts. “So, if I see somebody who has all of those attributes, I have the right to support that kind of person, so if Osinbajo declares tomorrow that he is running, I will have no apology I will support him, and I will work for him.” https://punchng.com/2023-i-will-return-to-farm-if-buhari-backs-tinubu-ojudu/ |

Crime › Andrew Nice Raped Me Inside A Bus, Says Victim, Presents Evidence by another1(op): 4:49am On Mar 11, 2022 |
Nice (Andrew) Omininikoron, the driver of the Bus Rapid Transit vehicle arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a passenger, Oluwabamise Ayankole, has been accused of engaging in illicit acts with another female passenger in Lagos State.
The female victim, who spoke exclusively to PUNCH Metro, accused Omininikoron of raping her on November 25, 2021.
This came amid calls for justice for Oluwabamise, whose corpse was recovered at Ebute Ero, after she was last seen on the BRT bus driven by Omininikoron.
Narrating her ordeal to our correspondent on Thursday, the lady accused the 47-year-old of raping her on the BRT bus.
The former sales girl at a shop in Ajah said after she closed from work around 8pm, she boarded the BRT bus driven by the suspect.
The driver was to convey her from the Alesh Bus Stop in Ajah, to Jakande, along the Lekki Epe Expressway, when things took another dimension.
She said, “While on our way, he switched off the light of the bus, but the AC was on. But as we approached the first toll gate coming from Ajah, he suddenly parked the bus. He then told me to come and sit at the front and started asking me different questions.
“I saw him using a drug and my thinking was that he parked the bus to use the drug before time ran out. A few minutes later, he started making advances towards me and I saw that his manhood had risen up. I became very uncomfortable and insisted on getting down, but he didn’t open the door.
“He said he wanted both of us to go and chill and that he wanted to have sex with me, but I declined. Suddenly, he brought out a knife and dragged me to the back seat of the bus. He told me to take off my clothes, but I refused. He threatened to kill me. He tore my gown, forcefully removed the biker short I wore and raped me. I felt sad.”
The victim said she could not call for help because Omininikoron parked the bus at a desolate location, adding that he refused to let her go after allegedly raping her.
She added, “He insisted on driving me to my destination at Jakande Bus Stop. When we got to my bus stop, he still didn’t open the door. He demanded my account number and started pleading over what he did. He said he wanted to send money to me to buy painkillers.
“I refused to give him my account, but he kept demanding and refused to open the door. Before he raped me, he seized my phone, and because I needed evidence, I gave him my account and he sent N3,000. He then opened the door and I left.
“I could not speak out because I was ashamed of what happened and believed I could not get justice. But when his pictures started circulating online regarding the death of the lady (Oluwabamise), I told my friend that I knew him (Omininikoron).
“After seeing his coloured picture, I went to my bank, requested my statement of account, traced the day he sent me the money, and it was the same name, Omininikoron Nice, which was in the picture circulating.
“I told my friend about it and she introduced me to a rights activist. Some people may question me for speaking out now, but I am speaking out because of the girl. That man must not be freed because he is responsible for what happened.”
A statement of account provided by the victim confirmed Omininikoron sent N3,000 to her on November 25, 2021.
A video clip of her torn clothes was also seen by our correspondent. The police spokesperson, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, urged the victim to make a formal report of the incident.
He said, “If the victim has a case against him, she should report at the nearest police station or the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, and it will be investigated. https://punchng.com/arrested-lagos-brt-driver-raped-me-inside-bus-says-victim-presents-evidence/
