This is deep. "I'm sorry".. These words can put an end to a war, yet people find them hard to say. Myself inclusive and that's why i try not to say things I'll regret when angry. I'll just walk away. I remember once in my office premises. I had finished drinking a disposable bottle of Fanta and took an aim at the waste bin like i was making a basketball shot. I missed the shot as the bottle hit the top and fell on the ground. I was just about to go pick it up when one of my female colleague just said "Yoruba, dirty people" I asked her was that necessary? And she repeated it that if I wasn't dirty why did I throw the bottle on the ground while the waste bin was open, pretending she didn't see I missed my mark. Asked her why then did she take a swipe at my tribe rather than just me (honestly I would have just laughed it out if she had said dirty boy or something) and again, she said because we all were dirty. We got into this heated argument and I threatened to slap her next time she said something like that to me. She lost it at that point and kept shouting it that Yorubas are dirty. I just left the place since it was obvious she was out for trouble. Back in space, my day had been ruined. I mean I've received some really personal insults in the past and never gave a hoot. So why then did I lose my cool for a comment so silly?. Maybe it was just because I hated all those tribal BS and prejudicial remarks having lived most of my life in different parts of the country and know better than to be petty being tribal when relating with people. To get my peace back, I just went back to her and apologized for saying I'll slap her because that was what she held on to. By this time she was calm and she didn't even let me talk, she apologised for insult saying it was unlike her and she went overboard. The relief I felt in my chest cannot be described. I mean, we both could have handled the situation better. |
steppins:Lola would leave him? Same Lola who stood by them and supported them financially when they were still taking night bus and using leggediz benz? Same Lola who introduced them to Adenuga who changed their lives with their first major endorsement? It didn't matter then that she was older than him. It didn't matter then to their mother and Jude that she was Yoruba. Neither did it matter that Adenuga was Yoruba or Lagos where they found stardom was Yoruba land. But when he finally decided to marry the loyal woman, Yoruba became an issue. I don't balme you sha. Like most tribalist, you don't see beyond your noses. But my advice to you is, if you find a lady who stood by, supported and loved your as§ you when you were nobody or still hustling, you'll end up the saddest man on earth if you don't wife her for a stupid reason like tribal difference. |
IMO, I think Fashola handled these truck drivers better during his administration. With the exception of Fuel tankers (classified as essential products) Trucks were generally forbidden from entering or exiting Lagos until 4pm-6am or something like that. I wonder why that law was relaxed. Today people now drive against traffic (one way) because of the madness going on around Ijora, Apapa, Costain, Orile, Berger axis. Worthy of note also is the fact that the use of sirens by every Tunde, Dike and Haruna has returned to Lagos roads. |

Forgive her.. You can't just throw the 6 years relationship you had with her like that and pretend you never knew yourselves. But you still have to end the relationship for your sanity. Cheating Boyfriends /Girlfriends always metamorphose into Cheating spouses. |
Divay22:Karma shouldn't even bother you when compared to the realization that you could be scarred for life by the jealous and vengeful spouse. Think of hot water or acid bath. Or the spouse goes diabolical on your case. At worse you're just killed, end off. Truth is, there are people whose spouse are cheating on them but they never went an inch near married men/women when they were single themselves. |
Applies to men and Boys who also sleep with married women. Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Proverbs 6:32 But a man who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so destroys himself. Proverbs 6:23 For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life, 24 keeping you from your neighbor’s wife, from the smooth talk of a wayward woman. 25 Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes. 26 For a prostitute can be had for a loaf of bread, but another man’s wife preys on your very life. 27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? 28 Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched? 29 So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished. 34 For jealousy arouses a husband’s fury, and he will show no mercy when he takes revenge. 35 He will not accept any compensation, he will refuse a bribe, however great it is. Proverbs 2:16-19 Wisdom will save you from the immoral woman, from the seductive words of the promiscuous woman. 17 She has abandoned her husband and ignores the covenant she made before God. 18 Entering her house leads to death; it is the road to the grave. 19 The man who visits her is doomed. He will never reach the paths of life. |

PrecisionFx:Mention me when you're ready for an intelligent discussion otherwise, enjoy your night rest. |
PrecisionFx:Let's start with you telling us where you live. |
7Alexander:Oga mi, I'm telling you the truth o. The guys are usually so determined that you begin to ask yourself some hard questions. Usually, they'll save and buy say five bags of cement. Anywhere it takes them, they'll stop and save again. If they have small money, they'll buy one bundle of zinc and keep. Small small, house done set. Then when "we" earning thousands in the city finally visit, shame go dey catch person. The irony of it all is that even with their (little) achievement, comfort and peace of mind, most of them would want to leave for the city because they believe it would be better over there. You begin to ask yourself why southerners are still in the north despite the insecurities. It's simply because the general cost of living is unbelievably low. |
From my time on Nairaland, I think the issue with most Nairalanders is that most of them are city dwelling. i.e they are mostly found in (or live in) Lagos, Ogun, Abuja, PH, Benin, Asaba, Owerri, Calabar etc. The general cost of living in these places always affects their perspectives and sense of judgement about life in Nigeria generally. For example, because N1000 can't cook a decent pot of soup in Lagos, Abj, or Ph, no one elsewhere in Nigeria should/can claim to have made a decent pot of soup with 1k. So with this mindset above, a man earning say 100k a month in Lagos and is still struggling to make ends meet, rent, fees etc would never believe an okada rider in a small town like say Obudu, has built a decent 3 bedroom flat. They'll ask you was it built with sticks? But just like the Op stated, they only made use of mud blocks and cement to hold the blocks together and for pillars as the case may be. By the time the house is plastered and painted, you'll never know it wasn't built with cement blocks. Same way if you tell them one can buy a half bag of potatoes for less than 1k in a town/village in Benue, they'll argue just because they can't in the City. My point is, people earning way less than the op are doing just fine. All I can say is "Nairalanders, please travel and see". |
mrblessed:What has she been doing or you simply didn't comprehend her request? Meanwhile, Op, I dey greet o. You might want to consider other black "professionals" over there because our Naija brothers no get una time. Make man pikin no wake up one day see say him no get house again because Naija wife don use her "professional" status pursue am from him life investment through divorce. Anyways, my cousin did same. When no Naija bro was in the horizon coming, (since that was what she wanted like you) she hooked up with a "professional" from Uganda. They've been together fifteen years and counting with four kids. Time no dey o. June-September |

See how wide and good road is, yet terrible Nigerian drivers will find a way to have head-on collisions. |
See this one.... She probably works in a brothel and the boyfriends being inferred are simply her regular clients |
Obi1kenobi:You sir, I'm afraid, just have issue with this guy. So Dangote shouldn't build a big refinery because he doesn't want to swallow other people? In a Tiv man's voice I shout: "Wonder" Didn't they all bid according to their capacities? Mehn, I'm just speechless. Can't believe you're hating on the man for dreaming big. |
Obi1kenobi:Bro, just accept you don't like the man. http:/www.nairaland.com/3001766/dpr-issues-21-licences-new https://www.nairaland.com/2558252/buhari-approves-65-licences-private Dangote wasn't the only one who won bids for setting up private refineries. This monopoly y'all keep shouting is becoming annoying because the facts are there to be verified but y'all wouldn't even bother to try and confirm. A certain Capt Emmanuel Iheanacho, also won a bid amd plans to build his own refinery also in Lagos http://thenationonlineng.net/ex-minister-to-build-refinery-in-lagos/ Ogun state plans one too https://www.nairaland.com/3377590/ogun-signs-agreement-build-refinery Lagos and Akwa Ibom (partnering with AGIP) also won bids for modular refineries and are also planning theirs. But rather than question why the rest haven't started work despite winning bids, you'll hate on a serious Dangote who has since started his own. Accusing him of a monopoly that exists only in your imaginations. |
Obi1kenobi:First question, can you name three cement factories the FG wrecked in other to facilitate Dangote's rapid ascent? Meanwhile BCC (Benue cement) was owned by the Benue state government and was already moribund before he took over. At least I lived in Benue around this time. So are you going to blame him for Benue State's failures? Besides, it was wasn't a complete take over as the state government still retained their shares and Dangote's got the FG's 35% stake. Benue state still had about 43 million shares (Which ironically, the state government under Suswam wanted to sell). Second question, is Dangote the only cement manufacturer in Nigeria? Third question, is Dangote cement the most expensive in the market? |
freshest4live:As in eh... That's why so many unoccupied estates line up the streets of Abuja and places like Lekki and Oniru in Lagos. These are the only things they can invest "their monies" in. |
freshest4live:Typical African (or is it Nigerian) victim mentality. It's easier to blame your succeeding/successful neighbour for your failures than try to copy his tried and tasted working template. Or seek the right counsel. Dangote doesn't just follow the crowd. Everyone in the oil sector was using the easy route of importing. He chose to best route which is to refine locally. Everyone once imported cement, he chose to manufacture. He now plans now to set up a private university focused on technology research or something like that. This is a niche I've always wondered why no one wanted to invest in. i.e rather than just follow the band wagon setting up conventional universities with everyday courses, someone should invest in Specialist university. What I had in mind was even a university of say (strictly) medicine, medical science and drug(including cancer) research sort off. Just think of the huge profits from educational and medical tourism both from Nigerians and foreigners. Nigerians wouldn't have to visit india or John Hopkins |
freshest4live:Yes o.. The DPR issued about 25 licences to individuals who said they could/would set up private refineries in the country. But as at today, only Dangote is building his own refinery. Mind you, 21 of those licences are for modular refineries (i.e not up to Dangote's size, with just 10,000pbd as their refining capacity) Others, perhaps are waiting for when the FG would auction Ph, Warri and KD refineries so they can bid. Meanwhile these same people Have started shouting he has the monopoly of building a refinery. |
Ijaya123:Exactly. These people keep shouting monopoly here and there, but has the government stopped anyone from venturing into cement production? There's abundance of limestone everywhere you turn to in Nigeria, yet these folks would rather import finished cement from Asia (branding it their names) than set up factory, which is better in the long run for the economy. Only God knows what the price of cement would have been if importation wasn't banned with this dollar wahala. Talking about monopoly, I can name the following cement manufacturers in Nigeria other than Dangote 1. Bua cement (Edo state) 2. Sokoto cement (Northern Nigeria cement company) 3. Unicem (Akampka, Cross River, more expensive than Dangote and predominant/preferred in the South-East) 4. Gwana Cement (Bauchi state) 5. Lafarge cement (Ogun state) So with these other players, how has dangote monopolised cement production in Nigeria? Dangote tried his hands in Noodles production but failed. Thanks to Indomie's aggressive marketing strategies, Dangote was forced to sell Dangote noodles to Indomie because they couldn't keep up. But if Dangote had succeeded, these same folks would be shouting monopoly, rather than blame indomie for their failures |
stillseth:Can you prove it that Dangote is the only cement manufacturer in Nigeria? |
ChelseaDr:Corrected myself in my subsequent post.. |
eyinjuege:Scratches head.. I forgot this otpion. |
In addition, as a Rh- girl, please never think of an abortion if you happen to get pregnant out of wedlock. You'll never have a child again. (Caveat: Unless you find a Rh- man to marry). And if and when you do keep the pregnancy (this include Rh- married women), a CS is the best (or rather only) option if you intend to have other kids in the future. Mehn, I love Biochemistry |
logica:Lol.. Boss mi. |
pressplay411:My point exactly. Calling people broke shouldn't be a first line of defence. |
LastMumu: logica:Well, since I wouldn't want to assume what Frank's response would have been, I'm forced to agree with you guys the guy would have stated his opinion without the "Over sabi line" My grouse like the guy I quoted was in referencing the fact that Nigerian celebrities at the slightest online debate or squabble, resort to calling everyone broke. It's like an ingrained punchline. |
