MummyIMadeIt: Sir won't mind u tutoring me right through this with the necessary guidelines.. still searching for the thread that deals with capita market here on NL though. Pls ma you can mail me on arem.sam@gmail.com so I can send some materials to you for you to study as guide. I don't tell people stocks to buy except my households so I want u to do it yourself. Since my experience of 2008 market crashed, I have told myself that I can't make loss again in capital market and as such, I went extra mile to read about stock investment. Even my broker can't tell me stocks to buy and time to buy it. I only discuss with him occasionally to sample his mind on a stock after I have done my due diligence. Before I could buy diff stocks like 10 companies but now just max of 4 and am OK for my yr target and am thinking of reducing it to just 2. These are the result of self research and due diligence. Get prepared and become great like my mentor Warren buffet, many will keep complaining about APC PDP while guys are making millions legitimately. See you in the board room! |

Pascopele: The bolded, how do one invest in capital market Sir, there is a thread on nairaland where your question can be dealt with extensively. My advice for u is to read about stocks investment, the risks involved, the gain, the time to buy and time to exit so that u don't buy when the party is over or u don't sell when the party is yet to start and you must invest in good sound companies and recession proof stocks. Don't forget stocks investment risk is higher than that of tb but the returns can be superb. Eg just a day bull run I gained over 1m in gtb, zenith and uba just this Thursday. |

Valueinvestor: Sorry, I have been busy lately, but from the comments I have read, the ogas in the house, have actually done justice to your question, however, Dividend yield =Expected Dividend (kobo) /current market price, stocks like, , zenithbk, ucap, Afriprud, caverton, tranex(although illiquid), UBA, Access, would fall into the category of 8-10%dividend yield, for now, stock like GTB, redstarex, upl, would have fallen into that category some few weeks ago, this would actually be applicable to those with good quarterly results, Dangote sugar, nascon, and npfmcrfnbk would also have fitted into this category but for the poor Q3. Many thanks BOOS! Respect! |

fbn, oando, transcorp, eterna,Aiico, wapco,Access,Afriprud, uba and ucap. Thanks BOSS |

locodemy: you chose a better option.check the following stocks for only capital appreciation or for both dividend/capital appreciation. Gtb,zenith, stanbic.
These three are the market leaders in the financial services. They will also be the leader in any bull as we are expecting..........you are sure of 10-15% return within this first quarter of 2019.
consider the three first before others. Thanks boss, i have possitioned already in GTB, ZENITH, UBA and CCNN |

onuku: Better to invest in Treasury Bill and Government Bonds. You are guaranteed at least 12 percent if left for at least a year
Boss, so how do u identify those stocks with 8-10% dividend yield or possibly name them pls I do treasury too but i cant leave my money just like that for a year, i pulled my money out of tb to do stock and i have positioned already for returns after the election, after i have achieved resonable profit in stock then i will go back to tb with the total money but for me to put my money in tb for 364day, haa i cant ooo. is better i get that 10% capital appreciation within 3-4 months than 14.25% for 364days. if i gained 10% capital appreciation and go ahead to have 12% in tb for the rest of the year, i think is much more better for me. |

Valueinvestor: I have come to realize overtime that what actually brings in huge returns from stocks is the proper application of high margin of safety, appropriate diversification, timing and patience and not just holding a fundamentally strong stocks. For instance, both nestle and stanbic are fundamentally strong, but buying them at a low margin of safety poses more risk, infact one would be better off putting such money in a fixed deposit. For me any stock that is not likely to give 8-10% dividend yield, I consider paying too high for it for now. Anyway these are my personal opinion and hard lessons learnt from previous experience Boss, so how do u identify those stocks with 8-10% dividend yield or possibly name them pls |

Raider76: I am afraid this market might not rally much even after the elections. Just like the way FX speculators did not get the anticipated Naira depreciation before the elections and many have now lost money. i strongly beliveed market will rally after the election, one just need to position in fundamentally sound stocks |

eventsmallchops: this thread is for rich people, i will be there one day , my desire is just to be able to keep food on the table for my family for now Lol..... Hmmmm not until when you get big money, I started very small then wit #100 dividend but today the dividends have gone over 1000% of #100 so is not a matter of being rich is a matter of what you want for yourself, being focus and starting small. I know of someone who started small like me about the same time wt me and today he said he is expecting 1.1m in just gtb and Zenith dividend net of tax so start with whatever you have in your hand |
