passion007: I completely agree with you.
Less than 20% of the population of Enugu State reside in Enugu city. By sheer numbers, that's a 4:1 victory for rural areas.
Moreso, we've taken a detour from the 90's model of development. Rural-Urban migration was such a big deal it was taught in schools. Rural dwellers were being encouraged to remain in rural areas, and concerted efforts made to keep them comfortable: rural electrification, potable water, health care infrastructure etc. Somewhere along the line, we adopted a strange, untested model of development : everyone ran off to big cities forever in search of the elusive golden fleece. Government neglect of the rural areas further entrenched this newfound model.
The model being advocated by biafrandream can only work in Lagos because it already is a conurbation of sorts, but not in Enugu with a large population in rural areas. I know what a relief the Nike-Opi Highway has turned out to be. And the offshoot from Ugwuogo-Nike to Isi Uzo has been another blessing to people of the area.
ENSG needs to replicate Udi in all the other 16 LGAs. The Udi model of rural development is where I stand. any pic of development in udi? |

They have already frustrated any airlines willing to fly into Enugu and have since stopped funding the new terminal building.
I just thought i should make this plot open so that we can devise how to start street protests and other ways of responding to this when the time finally comes. sometimes we have to curtail some of these conspiracy theories... |

AnambraDota: If I tell you that Anambra State have not overwhelmed Obiano just know that am lying. Everything in the state has been grounded, thugs are back on the streets extorting money from Okada, Keke and Buses.
Dirts everywhere, from Upper Iweka to Ochanja down to Moore Street to Bida, New Mkt and Niger Street, roadside traders have taken over all the streets surrounding Main Market. Anambra is gradually sliding back to the dogs if care is not taken, lawlessness is coming back with lawless drivers and okada and keke riders aided by corrupt ASMATA officials.
Sand dredgers at Niger Street have covered half of the street with white sand from River Niger and waterlogged the entire street.
Illegal structures were being erected opposite Nwa Ngene on Sunday I was passing there.
Serious, Obiano has lost focus, am not happy with the current state of the State of Anambra.

investnow2013: Election tribunal: Anambra PDP, Reps candidate concede defeat at pre-trial
AWKA—First Anambra Election Petition Tribunal headed by Justice Nayai Aganaba, has expressed shock over the decision of candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Nnamdi Eze, to concede defeat to his opponent, Mr. Dozie Nwankwo, of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the March 28, 2015 election for Anaocha/Njikoka/Idumukofia Federal constituency. PDP and Nnamdi Eze confessed that APGA’s Dozie Nwankwo actually won the election . The dramatic concession, which elicited wide laughter in court, came up when the second and third respondents to the petition, Dr. Eze and PDP respectively, admitted that a polling unit by polling unit computation of all the valid votes clearly showed that Mr. Nwankwo won the election by a wide margin, hence he should have been returned elected. where is the link to this story?it sounds like a joke |

obailala: Sometimes I just wonder the kind of utopian dreamland some people live in that make them churn out these Wonderland fairy tales. You just said I should look at the bigger picture yet you have been basing your arguments on illusions and not reality. Can you convince me why I or Emeka or Chibuzor or Kelechi or any other hardworking Igbo son living and hustling happily outside Igboland should make such huge economic sacrifice at this very time all just to satisfy the greed of a few political elite?... Why exactly should I make this sacrifice?...
You just live in a fantasy world and assume all our problems would be solved when we change our name to Biafra. You tried to assure me that because Biafra would be a part of ECOWAS, then I can move around freely without a passport. Is it not in this same country that Lagos state deported destitute non-indigenes and then you think that cannot happen when we impose an international border?... Is it not within this same country that Akwa-Ibom, Anambra and Rivers States deported non-indigenes?.... Was Ghana not a part of ECOWAS when a democratic Nigeria deported millions of Ghanaians in the 'Ghana-Must-Go' saga?... Is Niger Republic not a member of ECOWAS, yet every now and then, we deport their destitute?
With the present Igbo-phobia prevalent in Nigeria (which is obviously fuelled by some of our unnecessary SUPERIORITY COMPLEX), do you think other Nigerian ethnic groups (including the Ijaws) are very happy with Igbos?... With the prevailing Igbo phobia, if you are still 100% sure that Nigeria would be very friendly and cordial with Igbos even after we forcefully break away to form Biafra, then you must be living in a fantasy world called 'Wonderland.'
I maintain and I will continue to maintain that the problem of Igbos is a lack of good leaders. There is absolutely no zone in Nigeria that is not as marginalised as the SE and we need to stop this paranoid attitude of always feeling Igbos are most marginalised. If only we could still have visionary and patriotic leaders like Dee Sam Mbakwe, SE Nigeria would have been much more developed than it is today even with the unitary central government we practice today. What we presently need to progress in the SE is true federalism and the regional autonomy. In the late 60's, Biafran secession was a good idea considering the pogrom, but seceding and forming a new country now in 2015 would be too detrimental to our existence at this point in time. igbophobia has not always being aboh superiority complex..just had to correct that. |

zendy: What is happening in South Sudan is being engineered by Sudan same way that what is happening in Ukraine is being orchestrate by Russia. It's all about 'grabbing territory'. As I said before, no new nation has it easy. Not even America had it easy after winning their war of indepedence against Britain, but today they are the greatest nation on earth. I'm sure that many Igbos will not like the idea of Biafra, unfortunately for them, they are in a minority of maybe 10 to 15%. They will have go with the will of the vast majority of Igbos who are completely disenchanted with Nigeria. I wish Nigeria was a civilised Country like Britain that created it who offered Scottish people a referendum last year, but it not. The alternative might just be a violent break up. oh so it is no longer south Sudan enjoying freedom but Sudan that is now causing the problems?..by the way your 10 to 15 percent of Igbo that do not want Biafra have you a sample to reach that agreement? Has it occurred to you that there are son Igbo out there that want Biafra but not the way kanu is going about it?really kill kumuyi? Is he mad?take up weapons he tells his followers...weapons to fight who if I may ask?on whose soil os the war going to be fought?Igbo soil?...it I not about a new country having it easy it is about common sense...i was okay when kanu was approaching un but when he started preaching hate and taking up weapons I just put a brake |
Politics › Re: Musings On The State Of Biafra - By Joe Onwukeme by asha80(m): 1:18pm On Jun 25, 2015 |
zendy: I don't think you are looking at the bigger picture here. I'm well aware that in the event of the emergence of Biafra, Igbos will suffer and make incredible sacrifices. But this is all about the future not the past. I know my people. Igbos are a resilient people. They are known to make something out of nothing. Ordinarily, what should obtain is that Biafra would immidiately join "ECOWAS" and guarantee that any Biafran can travel or live anywhere in west-Africa including Nigeria without need for a Visa. That's what the 'ECOWAS' in front of the Nigerian passport is their to remind everybody. However, we have to be prepared for anything. In the event of Biafra,we may have difficulty converting stocks and property to cash,we may even lose certain immovable investments but that is the price of freedom. God knows many people have paid a much higher price to be free. South Sudan fought for over 20 years and lost millions of lives to get the freedom they enjoy today. What matters is the future. Nigeria is cess-pit of deciet and incompetence bordering on the absurd. It has never worked as a nation and never will, not even if you make his Holliness, the Pope president. We have way too different personal interests and no one really has a 'Nigerian interest'. We cannot continue with this "British invented" hopeless faliure of a nation. Biafra represents hope, a new dawn, return of sovereignty and autonomy and freedom. It represents the right of choice and the opportunity to make a fresh start and to bring Governance closer to home. We cannot give up the the opportunity to administer our selves just because the way will be frought with hardship, danger and uncertainty. The average Igbo man goes through all of that in strange lands all over the world every day. Biafra, must come and the 'disaster' created by Lugard 100 years ago called Nigeria must come to an inglorious end. you call what is happening in south Sudan today 'enjoying freedom '?do you know what is actually happening is south Sudan today?make use of google my friend and believe many igbos who are at least comfortable will never subscribe to this your 'resilience' talk after crawling back after the civil war.. No one is that passed through that is ready to go through that process again |
