kettykin: The angle I am coming from is that taking this heavy facility at this time that there is dwindling economic climate and states can barely pay salaries and using for road rather to boost IGR might be putting the state under economic stress. The refinery can be still be run on a build operate and transfer with the state contributing it's own quota because $200 can't build refinery. The road even though is an infrastructure cannot be classified as an asset because the road depreciates over time. Even though it is normally referred to as an asset look I do not know how much you know aba but a functional aba can generate enough revenue to run abia state |
Politics › Re: Deeper Life To Build University In Abia State by asha80(m): 12:16am On Jul 03, 2015 |
kettykin: Why not take facility to build a refinery or the sea port that would generate revenue. Provide employment and open up opportunities that would generate revenue for roads and bridges. if abia state should take the facility and build a refinery who will run it?building a seaport would need fg clearance so unless he gets clearance it would be useless building it...if you don't know what that facility for the repair of dilapidated roads and drainages would do to boost economy of aba then you do not know aba...by the way I am not comfortable with this loan facility 200m dollars is nearly 60bn now |

carnegiefan: Look, the way I look at it is this: The governor should ALWAYS remember that Abia state (Aba in particular) just had a crowd of about 1-3 million marching in its streets, asking for Biafra. His decisions should always be guided by such real fact-of-life information. It is a form of criminal negligence for him to simply invite the army to the streets of Abia.
Here's what you (and people who support this in SE) should think about: Why did Buhari (a life time soldier) suddenly withdraw army checkpoints in Nigeria? My sincere guess is that he was pressured by some of the civilized countries that supported his election. He did it RELUCTANTLY. Other parts of Nigeria are happy for that action, and NONE is asking that he returns the army checkpoints in their states. My guess is also that Buhari asked Okezie Ikpeazu to acquiesce or support this action, and Okezie fearing his mandate as governor decided to be selfish and mortgage the lives of Abians to a future shoot at sight. It is not new. It has happened before in Anambra state. Thank God that some of us are not sleeping. I seriously doubt you are a frequent user of Enugu ph expressway especially btw aba to ph..your guess is over the bar on this issue..i dont care what is happening in other places but if do not know what was happening in aba and environs before army came in then I suggest you do a thorough finding...and no I think ikpeazu was the one that made the request and not your postulations.. |

carnegiefan: If police cannot do the job it should be disbanded or at least reformed. Honestly I can't understand how some of you people reason. So because the police cannot currently handle kidnappers, you bring in the army in SE Tomorrow when they start killing you en mass you will start to lament again. Little wonder why Igbo lives are very cheap in Nigeria. Why should anybody value your lives when you are openly offering it free of charge. Ndi ara. where you in aba and environs when kidnappers ruled supreme?if you were you will not be typing this way..if you do not know police were actually involved in those kidnappings..enough of the hysteria because without those army guys kidnapping would still have been prevalent there..ok the police is almost incapable of fighting those kidnappers...what should have been done oitside of giving the normal vehicles and equipment to police?..by the way you said disband the police or reform them...do you live in Nigeria? |

You think the present day police can withstand the daredevil kidnappers that often operate in the east?have you experienced kidnappers live before?who do you think ended the scourge of kidnapping in aba and some parts of umuahia a few yrs ago?police? carnegiefan: Okezie, Okezie, Okezie! How many times did I call you Be careful of what you wish for. Checkpoints should be police duty: Police should do their work. The military belongs in the barracks. You will be held accountable for innocent lives that will be lost to drunken soldiers. Some of these so called governors in SE needs to be flogged every morning. |

Abagworo: The truth is that there was conspiracy against Ngwa man. I pray Ikpeazu retains the seat so that it will be proven that an Ngwa man would be the best leader out of Abia. That conspiracy is Obvious. Even Abia central is majority Ngwa while Abia North is the head of the conspiracy. Otti is from Abia North and they have near equal population with Ngwa in Aba.
I would have supported Otti if the elections was based on merit but I hate conspiracy. funny how the majority ngwa in abia central made sure ta orji went to the senate when orji's kinsmen and the umuahia divide in abia central largely rejected him |

Anambrans has been on the fore front of investing in their home state thereby attracting outsiders from other regions. Anambra is the winner. BuddahMonk: It doesn't matter where the clamor comes from, unity is strength, I know many people here are interested in having an Adada State that is why they are always cold when Anioma is mentioned because they think it will rob them of the opportunity to have the non viable of a state.
Unification is the most important thing in Igboland, go to Igboville and see how Benue-Igbos are reaching out for their kiths n kins in SE, those in Anioma also doing that as well.
I don't know why it should be wrong for us in SE to extent the hand when we know fully well that integration is the movement now. Balkanizing them from SE is not of their doing, its the politics of divide and rule and we Igbos shouldn't fold our hands and watch that happen. Every pragmatic Igbo man and woman should drop personal interest for collective interest of building strong Igbo nation that defy geo-political boundaries. God bless Anioma State, the 6th South East you don't seem to understand unemadu's view...he means let the clamour come from the anioma before before it will become the issue of 'why are Igbo of se fircing themselves on us','we are anioma not igbo' and 'they are interested in our land' comments some of them spew out |

FKO81: To protect his business, expatrirates are working round the clock to resuscitate the factory I guess that is the deal ibeto struck with umahi before the sponsorship cjrane: Sometimes, the education component helps our business people think globally and strategically. When education is lacking, it is difficult to convince someone about a strategic business move when the BAN has not come yet. That is my fear with Ifeanyi Ubah. I suspect he will cajole or even deride anyone trying to tell him diversification from fuel importation is the right thing to do now that the business hasn't been banned yet. The same way our big time importers such as Ekulo group of companies by Emma Bishop will deride anyone convincing him to set us the luxury wines and biscuit companies in Nigeria. But any economist will tell you that once a country begins to lack foreign exchange and its currency begins to devalue, they look for imported goods which the country can live without and ban them to say foreign exchange. With the fall in oil revenue, Nigeria is undergoing that economic fact now. you make a point about the educational aspect but I am not sure if that is the whole problem judging by the likes of chicason and innoson who can be said belong to the same educational class with ifeanyi but are deep sighted enough to enter maanifacturing and even diversifying in the case of chicason....ifeanyi's case is just pure ego and braggadocio |
