Afam4eva: You're wrong. The reason why Europe and America is soo developed is because the people developed it and not the government. The government just provided the enabling environment for that to happen. But it seems in Nigeria, the government has relegated it's own duty and is doing what the citizens are supposed to be doing. Of what use is the government building beautiful structures which according to you will make them feel discouraged about poverty when they don't have the needed mechanism to achieve such feat by themselves. Even in the poorest countries in the world, they have seen the best of things whether in real life or on TV but their limitations will not enable them even dream for those things.
it is in nigeria that you here people criticizing govt for not building industries as if that is the work of govt.

PoliticsRe: Peter Obi Of Anambra State Is Working, At Least On Roads by asha80(m): 10:45am On Apr 26, 2013
Abagworo: Ibiasoegbe is a remote community in Oru, Imo State and from what I've read, the road leads to Isseke. Olauda Equiano's community. The villagers seem to be happy that they are finally being linked by tarred road not knowing it would have been better untarred. I guess this is one of those Rochas 6000km rural roads done by the fourth tier Government..
it might also be nddc as there are some road project undertaken by them around oru axis courtsey of h. Uzodinma(how i hate this guy)

TravelRe: Travelling Through Onitsha by asha80(m): 3:44pm On Apr 24, 2013
Abagworo: What I heard there was Anambra dialect though. Still the normal Onitsha but I noticed the normal heaps of laterite that I so much hate. There are also some streetlights being installed.

If this is a recent video, then it only goes to confirm the 7years of waste. I pray it was taken around 2010.
you need to asphalt the whole of onitsha to eliminate those sand dunes at the sides of the road and daily clean up of roads.

drnoel: its not my article. its in the dailies.

I believe so too but then these people said to be leading us do think they are smarter than us..
the thing is this, the average imolite on the streets is more interested in infrastructure development than any other thing and that is where the present administration thumps the previous ones.the more enlightened imolites are aware of the discrepiances of this administration and are also not happy about some of them but the thing is at the polls this administration would still get more appreciation than former ones because of the reason i earlier gave.
PoliticsRe: Local Governments In Anambra State by asha80(m): 2:41pm On Apr 23, 2013
Abagworo: Some of them are mixed with Urban, semi-urban and rural. His response was on local governments with high population density. Ihiala for example is semi urban while most others are mixed except Onitshas and Awka South which are fully urban.
what about nnewi north?

okpara ugo: Still on Anambra, is there any of its villages without a motorable road?

I mean to still register my surprise that all villages in Anambra have modern eateries, filling stations, car washes, modern markets, shopping malls, nothing would make you feel you werent in a state capital.

Kudos again.
to be honest i have a friend from benue that visited ozubulu for a marraige ceremony and he told he wondered if he was in a supposed village or a small town.
PoliticsRe: 10 Most Developed States In Nigeria: What Do You Think? by asha80(m): 3:06pm On Apr 21, 2013
Chillypelly: It is laughable when people include enugu on the list. Outside cosmetic touches in enugu and nsukka the okpa spirit lives on. Akwa Ibom should be included but not before Lagos, Anambra, Rivers, Ogun, Edo, Delta and kano. Development is not about the flyovers and roads but the commercial transactions, road interconnectivity, literate population and standard of living as the measuring index. You may include provision of basic facilities in rural areas by govt and individuals as a yastic. Imo has a huge urban and semi urban population rested on the one city drive by the govt. Litracy level in Imo is mind bugging ( about 83%) highest in west and central africa according to UNESCO. With the insane development of cities in Imo state ( about 11 of them) its sure the are ready for the top. Cross River is just one big joke. Outside Calabar the state capital, lions and reptiles rule the the state.
which eleven towns are you talking about except owerri, orlu and okigwe that are undergoing development?as for crossriver i wonder why some peeps are listing it.

PoliticsRe: 10 Most Developed States In Nigeria: What Do You Think? by asha80(m): 10:01am On Apr 21, 2013
IGBO-SON:
^^^Exactly! I know i may draw some flack here, but Anambra is more urbanised than developed. When I talk of a developed state, states that are approaching such a status are Abuja, Akwa Ibom and parts of Lagos (mind you, for now we're talking more of the state capital here).

A developed state should have some (or all) of the following: an integrated inter/intracity transportation system consisting of buses, trains, taxis, boats, etc; constant power supply; constant water supply; an adequate and well equipped health service; adequate waste disposal service; adequate security; leisure, entertainment and tourist centres like parks, theatres, museums, 5-star Hotels, Golf clubs, gyms, etc; readily accessible maps of city layouts either in hard or softcopies; an airport or two; a well-appointed and spotless business district; gov't/private enabled mass housing; serene and beautiful upperclass residential areas for high networth individuals/families.

So you see that we still have a long way to go; but if things are done fairly in this country, with everyone allowed the space and resources to develop at their own pace, and with good visionary leadership in place, i see cities like Onitsha, Aba, Enugu Abakaliki and Owerri getting close to such a standard in the next 10 years; this is why we should elect a Solu.. the right kind of leaders for our respective states.
hehe this sounds like campaign for soludo but i get your drift.

Omo_Tier1: You do not use one component.. Go back to the link. I posted in the update to my post... That will give you a better perspective on development and its sustainability. Development encompasses not just trade and commerce, but infrastructure, culture and well being.
PoliticsRe: 10 Most Developed States In Nigeria: What Do You Think? by asha80(m): 9:28am On Apr 21, 2013
Omo_Tier1: Can I candidly advice you to consult the dictionary and check for the definition of urbanisation? A place cannot be urbanised if it has not got a comparative advantage to other places, hence the reason an urbanised area is developed. It becomes subjective what you call development. Your example of country side being developed is a misnomer else they would not be called countryside aka glorified name for rural area. Going by your example again, money will exchange hands only if the sophistication in trade and commerce of that place is more developed compared to the other places, again this does not fit in the definition of development according to the United Nations habitat...

abdulkayus: Hey dude, ur list is trash. D only develop states i will say are Lagos, Abuja and den maybe Kano.
All d Anambra, Akwa ibom, oyo, delta and Edo are still glorified town. Which malls dey Anambra. Anambra is overhyped abeg.
kano (kano city) is an urban jungle.
PoliticsRe: 10 Most Developed States In Nigeria: What Do You Think? by asha80(m): 8:50am On Apr 21, 2013
Vision2017: I believe other posts in response to yours says it all. Also those preferences of yours in a 'small town' are only but a mirage and I don't see Delta attaining such by 2050. Yes, Nigeria as a whole is beclouded with leadership problem but Delta's case is something different with hooligans and cabals occupying even not too juicy positions as school principals. I look at this categorically and I can't help but feel pity for Deltans cause they all live in the rellics of the past age which Thomas Hobbes described as solitary, nasty, brutal and short life span. Forget all this media hypes about Delta on TV. Delta with all her oil could still be likened to Zamfara and Sokoto which today ranks amongst the poorest states in Nigeria. I repeat, there is nothing on ground in Delta caused I have been opportuned to tour round the nook and crannies of the state.
on the contrary i am not glorifieng delta but i was responding to the your comment about delta towns being surrounded by forests as if to imply destruction of vegetation to be replaced by urban jungles that dot nigerias landscape is a sign of development.
PoliticsRe: 10 Most Developed States In Nigeria: What Do You Think? by asha80(m): 8:46am On Apr 21, 2013
Omo_Tier1: Urbanisation is not development, can a state be urbanised and yet not developed? What are the indices of an urbanised state compared to a developed one? The reason people will move from A to B is because B is seen as a better place to live, I.e. more developed than B. Hence Urbanisation and development goes hand in hand.
then you probably have not been to the countryside of developed nations.i wonder how urbanised they are but they are still developed.migrating to some places that are urbanised does not necessarily mean those places are developmed.it can mean there more cash exchanging hands in that location.development goes beyod people erecting houses indiscrimately everywhere in an area or packing themselves like sardines in an area.
PoliticsRe: 10 Most Developed States In Nigeria: What Do You Think? by asha80(m): 8:09am On Apr 21, 2013
Vision2017: Delta shouldn't make the list. Truth be told, there are only 2 major cities in Delta and these are Asaba the state capital and Warri. Other glorified towns cum cities are only but a mere shadow of what a city should be. Delta is mostly beclouded by thick bushes and forest virtually everywhere. Nothing is happening in Delta and I can't help but wonder why Delta made your list of the most developed state in Nigeria. Delta remains a dungeon where wild animals thrives
urbanisation does not mean development.i will rather live in a small town right in middle of forests that have quality schools, pipe borne clean water, constant electricity and good security, effecicient means of transporting goods and services in and out of the town rather than living in a big urban jungle.
PoliticsRe: 10 Most Developed States In Nigeria: What Do You Think? by asha80(m): 7:26am On Apr 21, 2013
Omo_Tier1: Whoever compiled this list is a village champion!how can you say Akwa-Ibom is more developed than Edo? To even see Delta state on that list means the op really does not understand what development really is!

For all I care, the only state nearing anything called development in Nigeria is Lagos. Abuja comes closest but still years always from being a developed state. All others are glorified towns still developing.
urbanisation is not development.

what about edo,ogun?
PoliticsRe: 10 Most Developed States In Nigeria: What Do You Think? by asha80(m): 10:57pm On Apr 20, 2013

1. Lagos
2. Anambra
3. Kano
4. Enugu
5. Akwa Ibom
6. Rivers
7. Kaduna
8. Oyo
9. Kastina
10.Delta
define what you mean by development.

Everybody can't be as dumb as u!
you are a fool if you think that the crash on benin ore road was because of bad road instead of carelessness of the drivers.

He's another average governor. Ask imo corps members, they will tell you better.
