Genius100: Moderators, why hasn't the fool named Malawian been banned? You guys wonder why Nigeria is the way it is; it is the same culture of impunity that has turned Nigeria into a banana republic that is also responsible for Nairaland's reputation as a website with a congregation of the lowest IQ Nigerians.....danm ! |

it helps to expose the ignorance about some nigerians. |
Katsumoto: And you are forgetting to add that the indigenous religion was not replaced.can you help me explain the other articles the op johnie posted? |
soma042: that sounds cool 'huh'until the people that kidnapped him are caught there is nothing to celebrate imo. |
madridsta007: @Sadiq... Let me guess... IBB who instituted corruption is Igbo... IBB who killed Dele Giwa is Igbo? Farouk Lawan who stole $700,000 is Igbo as well? Abacha who looted millions in London and Swiss account is Igbo as well... The Boko haram criminals who daily kill civilians and uniformed men and blow up themselves to receive 70 male homosexual virgins in a delusional paradise, are Igbos as well... Gov Nyako who has taken Adamawa funds to build the biggest farm in Europe is Igbo as well...are you serious about the nyarko angle?biggest farm in europe? |
johnie: Abiala, Tituserhhm johniee is this article supposed to counter the original topic? |
Gbawe: This guy speaks the truth 100%. Nonetheless, I don't expect most of his Nairaland kinsmen to agree. Most are in the category of those indoctrinated , hardcore, to never think or say anything good about Yoruba people. They would rather spend 100% of their time lying to themselves and the entire world that the Yoruba people are the worst to exist when the truth on the ground makes a mockery of their daily lies. In fact, I expect many of them to attack this chap and call him ungracious name simply because he has made a truthful observation.the 'hate' go both ways.do not make it as if it flows from one end only. |
yemmight: Okija i know u don't have a single sense of reasoning. What has FG done for Lagos? FG has not commissioned anything since Tinubu era. You mean no other Yoruba State is doing well? Have you ever been to Ondo? Have you visited Ogun recently or Ekiti. I am very sure by the time these govs spend their 4 years single terms Anambra will still be crawling as usual behind them.ekiti and ondo more developed than anambra?ignorance is a disease.go siddon for gutter.w |
Abagworo: Abeg stop writing gibberish. I don't have time for people like you because I'm a realist. I went to Aba and didn't see any difference with the other non-capital large towns in Nigeria. In my humble opinion, it is even more organized and cleaner than the Onitsha you are praising.by now you should know that one east is the same person as chino. |
emindu: some of the constructed roads in Abia stateyou have no shame.after five years and these are all you can show? |
afam4eva: Can we have a full list of how Nigerian states are ranked.they are looking at human development. |
redsun: I don't think the nigerian educated are educated to solve problems on their own, hece their are acceptance of rogues as leaders.Nigerian educated may thrive in oyinbo controlled environment, but on their own, they are mere puppets, therefore, something is amiss.i have always felt like this.our education system may not be tailored towards solving nigeria's problems. |
The group says it is aware Mr. Datti had entered into a fresh round of talks with the government.so the ones that made this statement are they the political boko haram or real boko haram ![]() |
Northern economy collapsing, Northern Govs cry out On August 22, 2012 · In News 10:25 pm 0 BY HENRY UMORU ABUJA— GOVERNORS of the 19 Northern states Wdnesday cried out that the economy of the region was collapsing following the spate of insecurity, just as they stressed that the Internally Generated Revenue, IGR from the zone was now too poor. The governors have also warned that the North would continue to witness disintegration following incessant ethnic and religious differences if issues relating to religious extremism, intolerance and mutual respect were not tackled by the leaders and people of the region. The Lamidon Adamawa, Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa, the Chairman of Northern Governors Forum Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu; Governor of Nassarawa State, Umar Tanko Almakura and Capt. Idris Wada of Kogi State during the inauguration of the Northern States Governor’s Committee on Reconciliation Healing and Security, at the Niger State Governors Lodge Asokoro, Abuja. 22-08-2012 Also, as part of moves to tackle the incessant killings and wanton destruction of property occasioned by activities of members of the Boko Haram sect, the governors under the aegis, Northern States Governors Forum, NSGF, yesterday inaugurated a committee on reconciliation, healing and security. Inaugurating the 40-member committee made up of traditional rulers, retired military officers, academics, businessmen and former public officers, Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, stressed that the recurring insecurity challenges in the North and around the country posed serious threat to national stability, unity and development. He, however, called on members of the committee to look at reports and other white papers such as; reports of the Wammako-led Northern Governors’ Committee on security; report of Northern States Attorneys-General; Sheikh Ahmed Lemu, report on post-election violence probe; Galtimari report on security challenges in North Eastern Nigeria; and General Abdusalami Abubakar and Maitama Sule report, among others to guide them in their work. Inaugurate 40-man committee The 40-man committee which is headed by Ambassador Zakari Ibrahim with Nde Joshua Dimlong (Ngolong Ngas) as Deputy and Iliya Ithuve and Hajiya Saudatu Mahdi as Secretary and Deputy Secretary respectively, is particularly charged to ensure that peace and development in the North was not compromised. Aliyu who noted that “poverty, unemployment, youth restiveness and violence were manifestations of the rejection of the core values of honesty, equity, fairness and justice in the Nigerian society”, told members of the committee to synthesise every report, white paper, communiqué of conferences or commissions of enquiry into the insecurity situation in the nation, particularly in the northern states, with a view to giving them actionable and practicable proposals that would help tackle issues at the family, ward, local government, state levels and National levels. Committee on PIB Also Wednesday, the NSGF set up a committee to look at the draft Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, currently at the National Assembly and to ascertain how it affects the northern states. The committee was also given 90 days to submit its report to the NSGF . The terms of reference given to the committee include; to liaise with stakeholders in Northern States, particularly the affected states, and get to the root of the security challenges and proffer solutions; dialogue with any identified groups with a view to negotiating the way out of the menace; liaise with the Federal Government and deliberate on the best approach to resolving the security challenges. Others were that members of the committee should work out modalities for reconciling warring parties/communities in the North; organize meetings and have interactive sessions with stakeholders across the states; engage experts from the society for peace studies and practice, SPSP, West African Network on Peace building, WANEP, and other relevant organizations for further discussion and strategic inputs; recommend mechanisms for peace building and entrenchment of enduring democratic values at the ward, local government and state level; and design mechanisms to address youth restiveness and unemployment in the region. According to the Forum Chairman, “the decision to constitute this high powered committee of eminent Nigerians of Northern states was borne out of the deep concern of the forum over recurring incidents of violence and wanton destruction of lives and property, which have almost crippled the economy of the northern states and paralyzed socio-political activities to the detriment of our development and national pride. “The inauguration of this committee is consistent with the commitment of the Forum to the general welfare of the people, who have given us their mandate to serve them. Undoubtedly, the primary and fundamental responsibility of leaders is the security and welfare of the people which to us in the forum is sacrosanct. Hence, our focus has remained the promotion of the peace, unity and progress of all the Northern States within the wider national interest of Nigeria. “We therefore expect this committee to synthesise every previous report, white papers, communiqué of conferences or commissions of enquiry into the insecurity situation in our nation, particularly in the Northern states, with a view to giving us actionable proposals for tackling the issues at the family, ward, local government, state and national levels.” On the PIB, he said, “we have set up a committee to look at the draft PIB to know how it will affect the northern states.” Other members of the committee are Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, Prof. Tijjani el-Miskin, AIG Hamisu Ali Jos (rtd), HRH Ibrahim Sulu Gambari and Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, AVM Mukhtar Mohammed, Gen Martin Luther Agwai, HRH Nde Joshua Y. Dimlong, Sheikh Ahmad Lemu and Mrs Aisha Oyebode, among others. Governors present at the meeting were those of Niger, Kogi, Nasarawa and Kaduna as well as well as Deputy governors of Benue and Adamawa. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/08/northern-economy-collapsing-northern-govs-cry-out/ |

FG Worried Over Renewed Onshore/Offshore Dichotomy Debate Posted: August 22, 2012 - 16:44 Goodluck Jonathan By SaharaReporters, New York The Federal Government has expressed worry over the recent debate on onshore/offshore abrogation law, saying that action is mischievous and is aimed at causing disaffection among the people. "Some of the pronouncements are disruptive, outrightly mischievous, and aimed at causing disaffection,” it said in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati. “The Presidency strongly advises such politicians to desist from playing up sectional and ethnic sentiments, over a matter that was addressed eight years ago to the benefit of all parties concerned.” The presidency described the situation as an attempt by some politicians to heat up the polity at a time when the government was working hard to resolve security challenges in parts of the country. "Those who are issuing threats and counter-threats over every issue, are obviously not just re-inventing a controversy, they seem determined to fuel acrimony and needless conflict,” it said. It would be recalled that governors from the northern states have been complaining about the onshore/offshore dichotomy, saying that matter must be revisited. Full text of the statement: "The Presidency views with grave concern the current attempt by some politicians to heat up the polity by seeking to reopen fresh conflict and controversy over the onshore/offshore abrogation law which was enacted by the National Assembly in 2004. "Some of the pronouncements are disruptive, outrightly mischievous, and aimed at causing disaffection. The Presidency strongly advises such politicians to desist from playing up sectional and ethnic sentiments, over a matter that was addressed eight years ago to the benefit of all parties concerned. " At a time when the government is working hard to resolve security challenges in parts of the country, the political elite across board is expected to cooperate with the Federal and state governments to promote the cause of peace, stability and national transformation. " Those who are issuing threats and counter-threats over every issue, are obviously not just re-inventing a controversy, they seem determined to fuel acrimony and needless conflict. "Government is working tirelessly to ensure the full enjoyment of fundamental rights by all Nigerians, in an atmosphere that is free of rancor and tension. No individual, political interest or group should attempt to violate this, either overtly or covertly. " The Federal Government wants to reassure all Nigerians that while it respects every individual’s right to the freedom of expression, it is equally duty bound to forestall any attempt to undermine the peace and security of the country, under whatever guise. manny4life: Have money to spend on infrastructures? From where? I know better that govt don't invest in long term investments of private firms. If Anambra's equity CANNOT be fully liquidated in a year, then ... you know the answer.well you might be right |
Emperoh: Good move but i am not sure these should be the state's main priorities.i do not think sabmiller is govt owned.moreover there is a difference btw govt owning and govt actually running a business. |
manny4life: As for me good move but I have mixed feeling about this, I'm a lil reserved when it comes to govt to private equity investment. Private investment is definitely not what Anambra needs at the "short nor long term", this shouldn't be their vision. This does not create any "directly or indirectly benefit to the people.depends on who becomes the next governor and his plans for the state.the next governor is very much likely to have more money to spend on infrastructure and the likes than the present governor ever had throughout his tenure which in turn benefit the citizens.you live in a clime where goverments plan for the future so you should know better. |
deshclones: Chino...abeg thank adaobi for me...heard construction has started on my village road...kudos...but the man should in the name of God develop the state capital Awka...that place is a shame to every well traveled anambrarian...he should forgive awka people for dumping him during the last election and develop the capital...properties are not even appreciating...its a shame that plot of land at esther obiako is a mere 2-3m,even udoka estate, the banana island of awka is btwn 8-10m..the only thriving business there is hotel biz,..while the only guys there are civil servants, bankers and lecturers...make adaobi develop awka nah...don't you think development should not be concetrated in the capital of a state?what about other towns and villages?there are human beings living there.i do not believe in cosmetic development. |
Akanbi_edu: All the money is being spent on drinks, women and over-priced houses in Abuja and abroad now. These guys claimed to be fighting for Niger-Delta people but currently are too busy satisfying themselves. Like the northern masses just realized, the masses of ND will soon realize that having one of your "own" in power does not guarantee anything.that is why there is the cry of federalism.in this unitary system of government having someone from your ethnic group means nothing to area the president comes from.very good eg what is happening to east west roads? |
a trend has been set.it must continue.money must go round. |
i wonder what will happen when gej is no longer the president. |
it is good only if the equities do not collapse. |
kutchs: For ur mind u have said something better isnt? Now let me remind you that the state of the 70s and early 80s aba u referred to was a collaborative effort of both the govt of the day and residents. The govt cant do it alone neida can the residents, thus it behoves on us to try our best to keep our environment clean. Having said that let me tell u that I was born and raised in another stupid town like aba i.e. Obigbo in Rivers so I know aba very well. Finally, wise man my point is, granted the govt is not doing well for aba the residents must, however, work to preserve the little that is left of aba it belongs to them and not TA Orji. Orji will leave in 2015 but aba will remain for them so if they help him to destroy aba tell me who will suffer it.you have answered the issue yourself.why can't govt of the day collaborate with the citizens to do the meaningful?why is he the governor if basic issues like this cannot be tackled?was he forced to become governor?under normal conditions the local council is supposed to be the arm of government in charge of enviroment but since that level is hopeless the state governmnet cannot afford to let the city that generates the most revenue for the state to the dogs.citizens react positively if they feel government of the day is genuinly interested in uplifting its affairs. people say owerri is clean and organised but under the administration of achike udenwa the city became a refuse heaven.reason?the government then did not care.in any society where govt of the day does not show enough desire(especially in place where govt has been absent for years like aba)to uplift the enviroment and society things usually detoririates.london, new york all had periods in their histories when major areas why like pig stys. |
i guess it is still the same old ezeuche. manugbo: ALL HIS WISHY-WASHY PROJECTS HAS BEEN FOR THE UMUAHIA PEOPLEwell you might be right but i know lots of umuahia people and they actually loathe him.they generally do not like talking about orji.secondly abians have to deal with the very obvious zonal issues. |
