Oga where were you when lagos-calabar rail was removed from the budget. as the vice president of the senate, u ar at a vantage point to know what transpired in the budget.
The Lagos Calabar rail serves Nigeria no useful purpose .importing goods into Lagos ports and shipping them via rail line to the Eastern coast is an economic blunder. The right thing is to use every available funds to develop deep sea ports in Calabar and link Calabar to the north and Abuja via a rail line.

Politics / ICC Warrant Of Arrest My Fears For PMB by asorocker: 11:01pm On Apr 17, 2016
It is no longer news that ICC visited nigeria some days ago on a fact finding mission.
It is also no longer news that IPOB petitioned ICC before they came for a fact finding mission. But what might be news is that
Pmb might have stepped on big powerful international toes who will come for their pound of flesh sooner or later.
1. Among the list is the nation of Israel through his open support for the Palestine nation the PMB might have provoked the semites to a contest of wit and influence, Israel has never lost any war since 1945 a support for the Palestinian Republic is not backed by the major powers of the world .
2. The slaughter of the Shia is also another critical misfire which is waiting to back fire as the iranian nation has vowed to reciprocate and get back to the puppet regime of pmb ,how they will do that remains to be seen.
3. The recent affront to the US financial authority on the world finances through the use of the Chinese Reminbe for financial transactions, this is not just a declaration of economic war on the US but on the western world. The western world will not waste time to defend their economic war front through every and any means possible.
4. The recent affront, marginalisation and attack on igbo interest directly or directly, as weak and as susceptible that the igbos might look igbos are actually the most powerful and influential black tribe in Africa and no government that toyed with their interest lived to tell the story.
5. The unwarranted shooting of unarmed ipob protesters and the incoherent and careless defence of that action and the incarceration of Nnamdi kanu outside the rule of the law. This by far appears to be the achilles heels of pmb and the ground which he might be nailed for crime against humanity.

Don't be surprised at how some of his followers from a certain part of the country will abandon him overnight in place of PYO who might likely replace him.
Below is a summary of the case against Gaddafi that warranted the arrest warrant on his person and led to the Nato invasion
Muammar Gaddafi was indicted on 27 June 2011 on two counts of crimes against humanity with regard to the situation in Libya. As the Leader of the Revolution (the de facto head of state) and Commander of the Armed Forces of Libya he allegedly planned, in conjunction with his inner circle of advisers, a policy of violent oppression of popular uprisings in the early weeks of the Libyan civil war.[52] He allegedly formulated a plan in response to the 2011 Tunisian and Egyptian revolutions whereby Libyan state security forces under his authority were ordered to use all means necessarily to quell public protests against his government.[52] From 15 February 2011 until at least 28 February 2011, forces from government-organized militias, the national police, the Libyan Armed Forces, the Revolutionary Guard Corps, and other security services, acting under Gaddafi's orders, allegedly murdered hundreds of civilians and committed "inhuman acts that severely deprived the civilian population of its fundamental rights" in the cities of Ajdabiya, Bayda, Benghazi, Derna, Misrata, Tobruk, and Tripoli.[52] Gaddafi was killedin the Libyan city of Sirte on 20 October 2011 and the Court terminated proceedings against him on 22 November 2011.[51]

Second is the case against Laurent Gbagbo.

Laurent Gbagbo was indicted on 23 November 2011 on four counts of crimes against humanity with regard to the situation in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire. As the President of Côte d'Ivoire, Gbagbo is alleged to have organized, along with members of his inner circle, systematic attacks against civilians during post-election violence that began on 28 November 2010.[58]National security forces, the National Armed Forces, militias, and mercenaries under the command of Gbagbo are alleged to have murdered, raped, persecuted, and inhumanly treated civilians who were perceived to be supporters of Alassane Ouattara, Gbagbo's opponent in the 2010 presidential election.[58] According to the arrest warrant for Gbagbo, the crimes occurred in and around Abidjan, including in the vicinity of the Golf Hotel, and in the western part of the country from 16 December 2010 to 12 April 2011.[58] Gbagbo was detained by forces loyal to Ouattara in the presidential residence on 11 April 2011.[90] On 29 November 2011, Gbagbo was transferred to the Court. On 5 December 2011 he made his first appearance before the Court and the confirmation of charges hearing took place from 19 to 28 February 2013 before the pre-trial chamber and on 12 June 2014 it confirmed all the charges against him.[91] On 11 March 2015, the Trial Chamber j

The above cases shows how ineffective national militaries have been in even resisting the arrest of their presidents when indicted by the ICC, secondly in the 2 cases bother leaders where found to have infracted and infringed on the rights of a section of their citizenry even though they used the police and army or other secret agents

National security forces, the National Armed Forces, militias, and mercenaries under the command of Gbagbo are alleged to have murdered, raped, persecuted, and inhumanly treated civilians who were perceived to be supporters of Alassane Ouattara, Gbagbo's opponent in the 2010 presidential election.[58] According to the arrest warrant for Gbagbo, the crimes occurred in and around Abidjan, including in the vicinity of the Golf Hotel, and in the western part of the country from 16 December 2010 to 12 April 2011

Gbagbo's case is even peculiar to the case of pmb except that most of his victims did not belong to any political body which makes the case more compelling.

secondly both countries share a lot of similarities with north south divide, religious divide and location in the same west African zone.

In no distant time the case would commence and the out come which is predictable based on past antecedents, would be enforced by a combination of foreign, local and international forces and supervised by ICC authorities to serve as a deterrent to future abuse of the rights of people.

I knew this was going to happen to onitsha mall, there would be so much patronage that Shoprite would recover investments within 6 months and there would be rush for more shopping malls, this would be good for onitsha people but bad for the traders and owners of shops, kiosk and even the omata traders, they might have to go back to the drawing board now before it shows on their profits.

Eventually the whole of this great city will be covered with shopping malls

Politics / How Awolowo Was Jailed By Yorubas And Northerners by asorocker: 9:04pm On Apr 16, 2016
As a result of the 1959 parliamentary elections, the Northern Peoples Congress (NPC) from the Northern Region of N...igeria under the leadership of Sir Ahmadu Bello (the Sardauna of Sokoto and Premier of the Northern Region) became the country's leading political party with 134 seats out of the 312 seats in the Parliament. National Council of Nigeria and Cameroun (NCNC) based in the Eastern Region of Nigeria under the leadership of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe obtained 89 seats in the same election. Chief Obafemi Awolowo led Action Group (AG) in the West, elected 73 members to the parliament in 1959. The NPC and NCNC (Chief Nnamdi Azikwe's party) coalesced to form the first government of the newly independent Nigeria with Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa (the deputy leader of the NCP) as the Nigerian Prime Minister.
Soon after Nigeria got independence the Western region was in turmoil. Premier Ladoke Akintola and Chief Obafemi Awolowo (the federal parliament opposition leader) became embroiled in a protracted crisis. The leadership of the Action Group (AG), which formed the official opposition in the federal parliament, split in May 1962 as a result of the rift between the two party leaders.
The same month (May,1962). the Western House of Assembly was set to remove Chief Akintola after the party had earlier passed a vote of no confidence on the premier in a party meeting, crisis erupted on the floor of the house. The majority expelled Chief Akintola from the party. The then Governor of the Western Region, the Ooni of Ife, Sir Adesoji Aderemi demanded Chief Akintola’s resignation as Premier and named Alhaji Dauda Adegbenro as his successor. Crisis erupted in the Western Nigeria and this earned the region the appellation "Wild Wild West". Abubakar Tafawa Balewa led federal government intervened to curb the violence by imposing a state of emergency and appointed Dr Moses Majekodunmi (the Federal Minister of Health) as Administrator (interim premier of the Western region) on the 29th of June 1962. This became the first imposition of a state of emergency in Nigeria’s history due to heightened levels of violence. Following an alliance between Ladoke Akintola and Ahmadu Bello, Akintola was returned to power on the 31st of December 1962 in spite of protests by Dr Nnamidi Azikiwe who requested fresh elections rather than reinstating Chief Ladoke Akintola.
By 1963, the plot between Chief Ladoke Akintola, Alhaji Tafawa Balewa and Alhaji Ahmadu Bello was perfected and Chief Obafemi Awolowo was arrested for coup plotting/treason. His trial commenced in earnest and he was alongside some accomplices convicted for treason and jailed for 10 years. This again was the first alleged coup plotting and conviction in Nigerian history
Intent on totally decimating Chief Awolowo, Chief Ladoke Akintola together with his Deputy Premier Remi Fani Kayode "Fani-Power" (both of Nigerian National Democratic Party) went into a political alliance with Prime minister Tafawa Balewa's Northern People's Congress (NCP) and new political party known as the Nigerian National Alliance (NNA) was formed
Dr Nnamidi Azikiwe led NCNC teamed up with incarcerated Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s Action Group (AG), the Northern Progressive Front (NPF), the Kano People's Party (KPP), the Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU), the United Middle Belt Congress (UMBC) and the Zamfara Commoners Party (ZCP). To form the United Progressive Grand Alliance (UPGA)
In 1964, federal elections became due. Ethnic chauvinism, intimidation and violence was part of the frenzied campaigning. Chief Remi Fani Kayode and Chief Ladoke Akintola’s campaign was almost entirely based on tribalism. When the elections were finally held, the result was a victory for the Northern People's Congress (NPC), which won 162 of the 312 seats in the House of Representatives, whilst the NNA held a total of 198 seats. Indeed Deputy Premier Remi Fani Kayode had famously boasted that “there is nothing they can do, whether they vote us or not, we will win.” This statement turned out to be true as massive rigging was orchestrated in the elections. Once again this became the first pioneering act of election rigging by indigenous actors in Nigeria’s history. The announcement of the rigged election results quickly sparked off unprecedented acts of thuggery, violence, arson, mass murders and general acts of lawlessness in the Western region.
Following the crisis, Dr Nnamidi Azikiwe requested the military GOC to intervene and reorganise the elections in the Western region to avoid catastrophe, but the military high command refused and Dr Azikiwe was briefly held in house arrest for making such a request. Without any resolution and with Prime Minister Tafawa Balewa and Alhaji Ahmadu Bello as fellow conspirators with Chief Ladoke Akintola and Chief Remi Fani Kayode in the massive election heist, nothing was done to curtail the violence which gradually intensified. Daily mass murders and arson became routine in the Western region (wetie).
In the midst of the constitutional crisis the elections to the Western House of Assembly were conducted on 11 October 1965. The decline in constitutionalism and disorder accelerated with this election. Ironically no state of emergency was declared; instead the Federal government sent security forces to support the victory of Chief Ladoke Akintola and Chief Remi Fani Kayode's NNDP. The violence and lawlessness in the Western region was to continue from 1964 until 1966. It was under these conditions that a section of the military finally struck and overthrew the government on 15 January 1966.
As a result of the 15 January (1966) military coup, which again was Nigeria's first military coup, key government officials and senior military figures including Alhaji Ahmadu Bello (the Premier of the Northern Region), Sir Tafawa Balewa (the Prime Minister), Chief Okotie-Eboh (the Minister of Finance), General Maimalari (the Chief of Army Staff), Brigadier Ademulegun(Commander of the Northern Garrison) Chief Ladoke Akintola (Premier of Western Region) and so many others were killed.

We should continue to lead the country's economy.
if you remove all lagos components , for instance the revenue going to ogun because of its proximity to Lagosor better still compare 4 south west states to 4 south east states and the result will be clearer.

Ogun state is growing as a result of the proximity to lagos and not because of any fantastic governor or entrepreneurial spirit or any natural or people resource

Regional Analysis breakdown.

Since Ebonyi has no 2015 figures, Her 2014 figures of IGR (11,032,472,512) are used in this calculation..

South West Total = 339,953,417,927
Lagos Alone = 268,224,782,435

South South Total = 179,096,237,974

South East Total = 62,726,688,189
_______________________________________

North West Total = 48,579,503,540

North Central Total = 38,781,494,308

North East Total = 26,117,872,322

See south East with their 5 states doing very great , if South East had 6 states and there was no marginalization like closing down the business of people unnecessary , denial of the basic right of an international airport for so long a time and blatant refusal of the federal government to open up a deep sea port in the nearby coastal states of Rivers, bayelsa, cross river and Akwa Ibom , these states would have gone very far in independence from oil cash

Africa’s biggest economy Nigeria, battling a revenue shortfall caused by the global oil shock, does not need assistance from the International Monetary Fund, the group’s head said on Tuesday. “Let me be very clear: I’m not here nor is my team here to negotiate a loan with conditionalities, we’re not programming negotiations,” said IMF managing director Christine Lagarde. “Frankly, given the determination and resilience displayed by the presidency and his team, I don’t see why an IMF programme is going to be needed,” she told reporters in Abuja. Lagarde was speaking after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari on a four-day visit that will also see her hold talks with the central bank governor and business leaders. Nigeria, Africa’s number one oil producer, has seen revenues dive over the last year because of the fall in global crude prices, causing a cash crunch that has forced it to tighten spending. The naira currency has also slumped and GDP growth stalled to under 3.0 percent, while inflation is nudging 10 percent. Lagarde described the talks as “excellent” and said they touched on “the challenges ahead stemming from the oil price reduction” and the need to find different revenue sources. They also discussed “the necessity to apply fiscal discipline and the need to respond to the population’s needs, improving the competitiveness of Nigeria and focusing on the short-term fiscal situation”. Buhari has made reviving the flagging economy one of his key priorities alongside cutting endemic corruption and government waste, and improving transparency and accountability. Lagarde said they were “very ambitious goals that need to be delivered upon”.
Nigeria last month unveiled a 6.08-trillion-naira (about $30-billion, 27-billion-euro) budget, increasing investment on capital expenditure to stimulate growth and lower dependence on crude. Lagarde said it was not her place to “approve or comment on the budget”. But she disclosed the IMF would undertake a review and audit from next week “to really assess whether the financing is in place”. It would also look at “whether the debt is sustainable, borrowing costs are sensible and what must be put in place in order to address the challenges going forward

What is the economic advantage of linking Lagos with Calabar via rail that supersedes building deep sea ports and dock yards that would encourage evacuation of produce and products for export.

So there is still something like southern Nigeria, I thought the southern Nigeria ended during Goodluck Jonathan era, an era where the south west collaborated with the north to force jonathan out of office for the post of vice president and finance minister.

Now I am hearing about southern Nigeria, please who revived it and when was it revived. The same southern Nigeria where an oba vowed to drown his supposed fellow southerners for voting a particular party.

Other southerners should be wise
