Tell me one positive news that has ever come out of Nigeria. Dont blame Nigerians living abroad for believing in everything negative about Nigeria. Infact, religious riots, killings and destruction of properties in northern Nigeria is no longer considered as rumour, because it happens every now and then. |

People can only be fooled for sometime but not all the time. Our leaders in crime are getting the message. Obasanjo is on the defensive. Ibo people said that" When a dead person starts to decompose and smell, the best friend who was considered better than the brother or sister will run away". Obasanjo is slowly slowly dis-engaging himself from yaradua.

mellow: Faith is putting implicit trust on something you have not seen. Believing it is well with your soul even when everything points to the contrary. When you give to God do it with your whole heart believing there is a period of reaping if you faint not irrespective of whether the pastor is fraudulent or not. In the long run it is your faith that does it and definitely not the word or faith of the Pastor. Let us take cue from King David When he said " who am I to lay my hands on the Lord's anointed"? In other words who are you to accuse or criticize the Lord's anointed?
PS: Learn to give without question. You have said it all from the saying of king David. The question is, are these lazy senior beggars Gods annointed? Dont at all get me wrong because I know quite well how many of us think and reason. I am a strong believer in God, and worried how these so called pastors are destroying the love and faith people have in God. Why must the worshipping of God be centred more on tithe and sowing of seed. A man of God is a teacher who helps people with very young faith in God to grow to maturity, by teaching people how to pray and how to establish their personal relationship with God. These days if you go to Church after one , two or three songs the next thing is 'offering time blessing time' and they tend to design it up into three or more types of offering. No wonder we have many Church breakaways and every Tom and Harry wants to be a pastor. These days it is not by merit as long as you can be able to pay the rent for a warehouse, get some plastic chairs, some musical instruments and of course a few brothers and sisters in crime, bingo! off you go, You are a pastor. I am almost 100 percent sure that if these pastors are placed on salary just like every other civil servant rather than them taking the whole bulk that comes out of the church, the church will be left with few or no pastors. This is mainly because most of these pastors are just masters of the book of malachai only, therefore they lack the spiritual understanding and interpretation of the Bible. My conclusion on this is that Church these days is purely business. There are many ways to pay tithe and offering to God rather than paying it to crooks. There are lots of less priviledged children around who need help. We can as well take a tour of our hospitals whenever God blessess us and help to pay someones hospital bill. Our elderlies also need help. They dont have to be your dad or mum. |

I see this as a good move by Senegalese President, this should at least make the Hiatians feel that they have a back up of where to return to if the worst happens. At least it is not all Africans that are very selfish, wicked and uncaring. |

At a time when many smart countries have realised the differential make up of every society they live in, and that the only way to have peace and develop is to sit down as one, discuss those differences and develop a way to live together and do things as one people.
It is very SHAMEFUL that Nigerians we will be fighting for a share of a 'mouse' while we are all blessed with things worth more than a 'cow'

smartmoney: @poster pstbolanta nice post. You really got me laughing. Nice cooked up story i must say.
@231 nice pics man, i have always followed your stuffs here on nairaland. just finished your funny names for Cars. Nice one too.
Now to all Nairlanders here, i really must say that we need to study our Bible and understand Gods word especially regarding giving. You must not be compelled to give. But at the same time you must understand the power of giving and sowing as well.
You can not be a giver, a sower and then remain poor. There is absolutely nothing wrong in sowing Seed. If you have to give your last 1,000 naira, then that is fine. But you were supposed to tie your faith to your giving. Dont just give it cos pastor has said so. Since he has already asked you guys to give it. then your job was to make it a point of financial contact . In your spirit and your heart, you commune with God regarding that giving and then take your mind off the pastors side. You start declaring your returns on that money.
Did you ever get to water that your 1,000 naira seed? Infact did you even ever consider it a seed ? So stop ranting if at all you give and dont receive. There is a lot more to giving and sowing you must study Gods word before you guys come here to criticise men of God.
Did you not read of the woman in the Bible whom the prophet asked to give her last meal? She had told the man of God(the prophet) that this was her last meant for herself and son to eat and die, then the MOG told her nevertherless, go and prepare it and bring first for me to eat. She did so and gained an overflow.
What if that was in today. We would have said what a hungry pastor or prophet how can he even take from the poor woman her last meal to eat for himself.
We must learn to understand how God deals.
I will tell you guys here a truth. in 2007 around April, i decided for joy and appreciatiion to God for the kind of teachings and messages i was receiving from my pastor during Church services and through his messages, i was so excited, i knew in my spirit i was a Changed young man. Somehow in that month, i made my first ever bulky sum of over 780,000 Naira in dollars as my first bulky sum from my eBusiness. Though i had made in total over $$80,000 in combined eBusiness from 2003 to that time of April 2007.
Now, having learnt Gods word, i gave all that over 780,000 Naira out to God as my first fruit offering having been the first money from that very company. So, i wrote out the cheque and sent to the altar on a sunday service I was excited in my spirit that i had done that. No body told me or compelled me to do so. You see as a young guy of around 26 years. It was a bit abnormal, cos another guy would buy a small Honder Hala car lol. But i gave it to God everything. Its called the First Fruit offerring.
Now after about 2 weeks later i had made over same amount of money. So, i decided to save to make it up over a million naira which i did by saving . and finally i had gradually saved over 1,000,000 Naira (one million ) so i decided to write out a check to my pastor this time , knowing in my Spirt, and in my mind that it was an appreciation to my pastor for all his messages and teachings. So, i wrote out this check in over 1,000,000 equivalent for a $10,000 at that time. I gave to another senior pastor to give the check to my pastor who was not easily reachable by me at the time.
The point here is this, After like 1 month later, i received a phone call from my pastor who called to say thank you to me and to pray for me. He only spoke words of blessings to me over the phone. Did you know that in that same week, i was making over 1,000,000 (One Million Naira) daily for all that week. some of this money i earned them while driving in the car. sometimes, in a 2 minutes phone call and business transactions i have made over 1,000,000 Naira.
My life had grown from one realm to the other. I have over these past years gained lots of international business presence and have moved my ebusines in such away, i have literally gotten offices in several countries of the World with companies dully incorporated and paying taxes in those countries and employing lots of people to work in different countries for me.
That is what the word of God does and what giving can do also.
So, the fact that you dont know Gods word, does not mean you should come here on Nairaland to ridicule men of God.
Somebody here already talked about Bishop David Oyedepo, How could you come to forum and start yarbing your mouth over annointed men of God and then others amongst you are laughing with him over that. IF you dont believe in giving, then simply dont'. Did you know how Bishop David Oyedepo came this far ? Do you know how much he gives out to other Pastors around the world. Instead of you guys to sit down and learn from great men of God you wil come here to yarb your mouth. It is some of you that will still be roaming the STreet in years later still looking for jobs and complaining that the Country is not doing anything for you guys.
Let this be a warning to you guys and every of Nairalanders who makes jokes and fun of great Men of God. If a pastor is fraudulent, then leave him to God. Worship your God, study your Bibles, do what God has asked you to do and forget about who is dubious. God will catch up with them someday.
Anyway, i do not attend Bishop David Oyedepo's Church and neither have i ever attended any of his programs. So, i do not speak cos i attend Winners but iam certainly a Christian and would not have you guys coming here to MESS yourselves up. Cos its my duty to warn you all. This is 2010. You must position yourself for Gods blessings in this year . ITs not the year for everybody to laugh when guys takes up on any pastor any day they like. ITs not funny and be warned pls.
Take Care all of you A lot of people think that "nuclear weapon" is the most deadliest weapon ever but unfortunately it is not. It is "BRAINWASH". |

fortunejum: bros, the truth of the matter is that you do not give in faith irrespective of what the pastor is saying. when you give, believe that you are giving to God but not to a pastor. keep on sowing by faith for you dont know which one will germinate. Am giving you a scriptural advise as a true MAN OF GOD. TRUE MAN OF GOD, are you saying that this poor guy looking for job should keep on sowing? Keep on sowing from where? Ok I will explain to you, maybe you will understand. This guy is not getting any income and he has to pay his bills and also buy some food to eat, maybe take care of his family as well. Infact, he is a human being created by God who deserves all the goodies in life, just like every other human being. The pastor was more of in a position to help him and not the other way around. Jesus Christ did it to His followers, why wont the pastor if he claim to be follower of Jesus Christ. It is written and commanded by Jesus Christ that if you have two shirts and you come across someone who doesnt have any and in need of one give out one shirt to that person. Anyway, the same thing will happen again when Jesus Christ eventually returns, because the likes of these pastors were whipped in jerusalem by Him. They are going to be whipped again for turning the house of God into a market place. |

This Nigerian side is too good. They have shown why they are true proffesionals. Imagine when they scored first against the Egyptians, as usual, the proffesionals of Nigeria went into their pride and egoccentric mode. They started playing as if the whole world belonged to them. Nothing has really changed, still the same horses with the same riders. I see it as more of attitude problems and an indepth corruption than anything else.
Anyway, he who blows the piper dances to the tune. We are only judging based on what we see on the television. We dont actually know exactly what is going on behind the doors.
A country that its president disappeared into thin air without a word. I wonder the type of encouragement the players went into the pitch with, knowing quite well that there is a very bleak future for our dear country back home. They may not even have a country to return to after the tournament, who knows. I am not trying to sound cynical here, neither will I borrow and wear a dress of sentiments. The only thing that will turn things around in Nigeria is a change in attitude for both Tom and Harry!

Theblessed: God bless you! You understand what life and living is all about.
Everyone except those being negative knows that Oyibo knows how to live life and loves living a good life therefore, suffering or excessive suffering is out of question for most of them - they take the quick option usually, SUICIDE.
In contrast, our people know nothing else but suffering and we are so scared of death, not to talk of suicides when suffering gets out of hand! Therefore, we prefer to suffer till 'D' as they usually would take solace in the saying "No condition is permanent" than kill themselves, otio! !!
This is because, most have suffered a lot in their lives that, they know no difference but sufferings - they are covered with it and would not even recognise a good life if it's thrown at them. Psychologically, they identify with nothing else but struggles.
The main culprit here is, ignorance/short-sightedness and, this is a curse! God does not want us to suffer this way but, our leaders have ensured we remain in bondage for their own good/benefits. Is it not our duty to scrambled out of this bondage and assert our rights?
According to someone here, Africans have always live near nature e.g. trees green grasses, bushes, forests and if they are wild so, what? After all, the whole world was once a forest so, what's the heck! But these days, our people could no longer see that living near nature is a good thing that can psychologically, improves their health. But I ask, how could they see it when they are all concerned and focused on the chase for their daily bread. Poverty is evil, you know!
Yet, in the midst of this poverty, you have crimes of all kinds hence, according to you, we have glorified prisons as homes and I add, corrugated bunkers as well. They call these beautiful homes - homes their owners can't even breath in, let alone enjoy. Is that the Country I should be proud of, really?? A country that can't even offer its citizens basic security - a fundamental Human Right it owes it's citizens.
For those making noises here, about this obvious truth in Lagos I say please, get a life! Stop this blind patriotisms! The guy, is absolutely right, get it? You are a true Nigerian! May you waka and never stumble and may 2010 bring you a huge success in all areas of your life. |

FKseun: It seems a lot of Nigerians do not accept the truth. Whenever issues are raised, instead of addressing them, we end up attacking persons. Are we saying it is a lie that we are into drugs and all sort of criminal activities in South Africa? Let us accept the truth! It will help us deal with the issues! I have visited South Africa a couple of times while on vacation. The first bad news I ever got about my Nigerian brothers was in the hotel where I lodged (can’t remember the name of the hotel again but it was in Sandton city). It was from the kitchen staff!!!!!!! They wanted to know if I was American. I answered in the negative and told them I was a Nigerian. And they started whispering…the next comment they made was that Nigerians love flashy cars. Ignorantly and proudly I told them that a typical Nigerian can save all his salary for 2yrs just to buy the best car. They disagreed and told me that in SA, they do drugs! On that same trip, I was also made to feel as proud as a King! It was on an excursion to Nelson Mandela’s first house in Soweto. A small one-bed room apartment which he shared with his erstwhile wife, Winnie. It has actually turned into a tourist attraction. Amongst the tourists were people from virtually all parts of the world. I got to know because the guide asked for our nationalities. When he found out there were a few Nigerians amongst the crowd, surprisingly he told everybody to clap for Nigeria. I felt so proud. He told everybody how Nigerian workers contributed part of their salaries to fight the apartheid regime in South Africa. Everyone looked at us with envy. On my second trip, I got to know of an area call HILLBROW (with lots of highrise buildings) in Jo’burg. It has become notorious for drug activities. To my utter disappointment majority of the occupants of the area are Nigerians. An average South African is SCARED of going there! If you drive through Hillbrow you would see young Nigerians hanging on the streets doing drug business like we see in the movies. The police raid the place regularly to no avail.
I was at the lobby of an hotel once reading the dailies when a white south African sitting next to me asked if I was an American. I proudly told him I was a Nigerian. He kept quiet for a few minutes and followed it up with questions. He wanted to know if I was based in SA, bla bla bla. He became comfortable with me when he found out I work in Nigeria and only came to SA on vacation. He was excited and started telling me all sorts. I was really surprised when he asked if I was from a particular section of Nigeria. I told him where I was from and stories continued. A ‘few’ bunch are really doing a lot of damage to our name. I feel really sad whenever I am subjected to all sorts of ‘special treatment’ just because I am a Nigerian. Thank you my brother! You are a true Nigerian. I can see the true love you have for your mother land. When you tell Nigerians the truth you get insulted which is very ok to me at least the truth has been spoken. I have been to those places you mentioned as well and what I witnessed was very disgraceful. I mean people are free to do whatever thing they would like to do in life but it is always good to think of consequences of their actions. |

I found it very disgusting when people dont accept their wrong doings and behavours. South Africa is not the only country to complain about the bad behaiour of Nigerians. How many Nigerians have been deported from Libya of recent and how many are on their death row. China is also having the same problem with Nigerians and so many other countries. I know that some good Nigerians are paying the price for all these but we should not blame these countries whenever they cry out about our bad behavours and the consequences of it to their respective countries.
South Africa is very correct and it is their right to protect their country and their people. |
