The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted two Chinese nationals in the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident on Monday in Abeokuta, the state capital, said that the Chinese nationals were abducted near Kemta, along Onigbedu in the Ewekoro local government area of the State.

Odutola said the police are actively working to secure the victims' release. The kidnappers have already contacted the victims' company, demanding a ransom for their freedom.

The police spokesperson said, “The company’s security supervisor was informed by one of the expatriates that Wenguang and Ding had been kidnapped and that a ransom was being demanded,” she explained.

“Our operatives in the Ewekoro Division, assisted by local vigilantes, military personnel from the Social Orientation and Safety Corps, local hunters, and other security groups, conducted a thorough search of the Kémta Village forest but did not locate the victims.”
She assured that efforts to secure the release of the abducted individuals are ongoing.

Some hoodlums on Friday invade Agoyeju-Odo, a community in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The gun-wielding men were said to have shot community members and burnt houses,Daily Post reports.

However,in a telephone interview with the state Police Public Relations OfficermSP Williams At a,he confirmed the attack to our correspondent, adding that the State Commissioner of Police,Bethrand Onuoha has deployed tactical teams to the area.

"Yes,there was an attack in the village in Omala,the CP has deployed the enforcement team along with other security agencies.

At a note that an investigation is going to ascertain the cause of attack and to unravel the perpetrators.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has expressed support for President Tinubu’s decision to consider releasing Nnamdi Kanu from detention.

According to a press release issued on Thursday and signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Secretary General of the organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo disclosed that the anticipated date for Kanu’s release is December 2023.


The organisation said the president’s decision would have “significant implications for the political landscape in the Southeast.” The group also warned against any attempt by “mischievous Igbo political elites and deviant opportunists” to take credit for Kanu’s release.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo urges President Tinubu not to entertain any visits or demands from these individuals,” the press release said. “The credit for Kanu’s release should solely be attributed to him.”


The group also said that Kanu’s release would “gradually diminish the rising popularity of both Peter Obi and Simon Ekpa in the Southeast.”

Nigeria has never been united. However, I think the military managed our diversity better than democratic government because elections divide countries all over the world.

In fact, it takes a focused country to remain strong and united after elections. Then, when you elect a sound leader, he works hard to unite the country. Unfortunately, this hasn't been happening in Nigeria.

One thing is certain though: balkanization cannot happen in Nigeria. We will keep managing the shipwreck for centuries - something we have successfully done for the past one century after amalgamation.
