I have made a casual look at individual Western societies and observed that the leading western countries were built on benevolent absolute rulership.

France, Germany, Great Britain and to the East Russia and China were all pioneered by an absolute monarchy with little or no recourse to be bound by council's decision.

What is France without a King Henry, or Britain without the crown, or German without Hitler (?) Or Russia without Lenin.

Mugabe stands as a possible pointer to the unsuitability of an absolute rulership in Africa, but do we have a democrat in Africa who has left any legacy as a recompense for the suitability of African democracy?

I don't think Democracy is the problem per se. I think that the system of Government has a lot to do with it. Taking Nigeria for example, we should not be practicing this unitary system. Geo-political zones or regions should be created and they should be they federating units. The faliure of many African countries to practice the right type of democracy and system of Government is the problem

As an Igbo man, I am tired of being with the Yoruba and Hausa man in one country. These two groups have been a pain in the a$$ for just too long. If I could, I would grab the minorities who comfortable with being with us Igbos and get out of Nigeria this very day. The Nigerian project has been an expensive waste of time.

I still say it now that Yorubas often follow the northerners like sheep being led to the slaughter house. Ojukwu went and negotiated a confederation in Aburi which he signed with Gowon in front of the president of Ghana. But when Gowon and his fellow broke this agreement by announcing the abolishment of the regions, the creation of 12 states and the removal of resource control. Instead of Awolowo and Yorubas to call Gowon to order, they helped Gowon to fight Ojukwu in the civil war to remove confederation. Even a blind man could see that Gowon broke the Aburi agreement in other to aid northern dominstion of Nigeria. Today, the Yoruba man is shouting "restructuring". But if the Country is restructured and the North don't like it, you can bet that the Yoruba man will again follow them like sheep being led to the slaughter house and they will fight again to return the country to unitary rule just like they did against Ojukwu in 1967.

You will read where the Ijaw chief of Nembe attacked the British garrison in Akasa, sacked the place and took over 60 British prisoners, 40 of which were later executed. The British later launched a counter attack and drove the Nembe chief into exile.

Why do those states have less militant activities less than bayelsa, rivers and delta states. Even their citizens are more matured that you will hardly think that they are part of ND or oil producing states especially Cross rivers and Akwa Ibom states. Because historically, the Ijoid people just like their Igbo neigbours have always been a much more republican people who have hated imperialism from the word go. If we remember, the Ijaw and Igbo nations fought the British. After the British left, they continued fighting Nigeria. The Efik/Ibibio nation have been more docile. But from what Im hearing amongst them, things are changing.
