It takes a lot of guts for an Igbo person to convert to Islam. If that person does it outside Igbo land, they might get away with it. But to do it and live in Igboland can be a nightmare. They are most likely going to be forsaken by friends and family. They will be ostracised. So when an Igbo converts to Islam, they had better know what they signing up for because the price to pay in Igboland can be huge. |
blackmatter007:Of course. All the care about is their precious 'one Nigeria' where oil is flowing and protecting their muderous APC Government that's has killed thousands of unarmed civilians in just one year. |
gunuvi:Anyone who knows the true story of Aburi would never say that Ojukwu caused any war. It is just unfortunate that the Lagos/Ibadan expressway media, in a desperate bid to please their Northern masters concocted one lie after the other against Ojukwu. There he was trying to profer solutions. Everyone agreed with him that the centralisation through decree 34 was bad but he was quick to remind everyone in the room that they were all there when Ironsi was enacting decree 34. The iconic statement made to Gowon which would prove prophetic was I said also that any break at this time from our normal line would write in something into the Nigerian Army which is bigger than all of us and that thing is indiscipline. How can you ride above people's heads and sit in Lagos purely because you are at the Head of a group who have their fingers poised on the trigger? If you do it you remain forever a living example of that indiscipline which we want to get rid of because tomorrow a Corporal will think because he has his finger on the trigger he could just take over the company from the Major Commanding the company and so on. I knew then that we were heading for something terrible. Despite that and by force of circumstance as we did talk on the telephone, I think twice, you brought up the question of supreme command and I made quite plain my objections, but despite those objections you announced yourself as the Supreme Commander. Now, Supreme Commander by virtue of the fact that you head or that you are acceptable to people who had mutinied against their Commander, kidnapped him and taken him away ? By virtue of the support of Officers and men who had in the dead of night murdered their brother Officers, by virtue of the fact that you stood at the head of a group who had turned their brother Officers from the Eastern Region out of the barracks which they shared ? Nigeria died at Aburi. In the biggest act cowardice by the Yorubas, they allowed the Northerners to chase away Brigadier Ogundipe, 'demote' Colonel Adebayor to bring in Gowon. Ogundipe and Adebayor were the two most senior officers after Ironsi. All of this in Yorubaland! It still beggers my imagination that the Yorubas allowed the Northerners to use them this way and they were still dancing 'one Nigeria'. |
Okoroawusa had better pray that Biafra is never actualised because the day we get Biafra, he will leave Igboland never to return. |
Rogers Nicholas? That doesn't sound Igbo to me |
On Aburi we stand! On January 4th 1967, the young charismatic Military Governor of the Eastern region, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu flew from Enugu to Aburi, Ghana to have a meeting with Gowon. In that meeting, it was agreed that the four regions in Nigeria would operate as a confederation. Gowon and Ojukwu signed this agreement in front of the president of Ghana, the late General Ankrah. In return, Ojukwu pledged to work for the unity of Nigeria and to recognise Gowon as head of state. When Gowon returned to Nigeria, the Northerners who were greedy for power reproached Gowon for giving away so much power to the regions and urged him to make Nigeria a unitary state. 4 Months later, on the 27th of May, Gowon in clear violation of the agreement he signed in Ghana, announced the abolishment of the regions, the creation of 12 new States, the removal of resouce control and fiscal responsibility and the introduction of full blown unitary rule. Ojukwu in response declared Biafra and war followed. Igbos want a confederation. The center is too powerful and this is not good. The states must be dissolved, the Igbos and the minorities who are confortable with Igbos must be given their region, the office of executive president must be abolished and in its place, a ceremonial president who will be commander in chief and a priminister who will be head of Government will be created. The senate must be dissolved too. Resource control of at least 67% must re-introduced just as it was before the war. With this, no one will be able to cheat the other and nobody can marginalise anyone. The regions must also be given the power to secede from Nigeria via a referendum if they so wish. I also want to add that when all of this is done, us Igbos are most likely going to secede from Nigeria within 5 years of the confederation. |
irunooboo:Lord Lugard saw the potential in our diversity? Are you for real? You think LUGARD gave a toss about us? Lugard and his Royal Niger company only came to west Africa to make money through exploitation. Nigeria was just a money minting machine for them. A 'Nigerian' is just a by- product of the exploitation of the British. As for Igbos backing out of Nigeria, Igbos never asked to be made Nigerians. They were forced into that colonial creation against their will. Scotland has been part of the UK for over 300 years. But when they started agitating for their freedom, you know what the British did? They gave them a referendum in 2014. There was no "we must remain one Britain!". After analysing the pros and cons of leaving Britain, the Scots voted to remain in Britain by a slim majority. They are planning a second referendum as we speak. This the age of self determination, if Igbos don't want to be with you, then you have no business being with them. |
irunooboo:We Igbos are still looking for Lord Lugard so that we can shoot him for coming to west Africa to join us with the likes of you. I don't know why you Yorubas cannot embrace your Northern brothers so that all of you can do 'one Nigeria' without dragging us Igbos in it. You are not ashamed that in this 21st century, you are still pledging allegiance to a country and name a white man gave you. |
Validated:The only good news I want hear right now is that my fellow Igbos and the minorities who are comfortable with us are leaving Nigeria. |
hagmond1:Grant us independence? You guys have not even granted your selves independence from your Hausa/Fulani masters. Go and declare Oduduwa Republic and administer your selves instead of running around shamelessly looking for the Igbo and Hausa man you will do 'one Nigeria' with. |
Ephemmm:Don't talk like an morron. Biafra is has nothing with what an Igbo man is doing in China, Japan or Lagos. Biafra is about what the Igbo man is doing in Igboland. Why is it paining you that we don't want be with you? And if there are minorities in Southern who want to be with their Igbo neigbours, then what business of yours is it. As for that stupid picture posted claiming it is IPOB, what in that picture tells it is IPOB? That picture could be anywhere in Africa. |
aresa:Now you see why we should not be together. Just tell your fellow Yorubas that the next time Igbos walk out of Nigeria like we did before, you guys should not come down to the east like you did last time with your Hausa friends to try and drag us back into the nonsense called 'one Nigeria'. Igbos have gone past the mental slavery of 'one Nigeria' which Yorubas can never escape. |
kabnafs:That's a stupid question to ask. Things like the national anthem, the Nigerian passport are things that people have choice but to use until the time they actually break out have thur nations. Then they stop using those things. It's like asking if Nigerians were using the national Anthem before Lord Lugard came. |
irunooboo:Then you have to ask your self why you want to be with people who don't want to be with you. |
aresa:All this long ranting of your just for you to come back and confirm the same thing I said at the beginning. That Yorubas do not have any sense of self determination. That's why to an average Yoruba man, Ojukwu who declared his people free and fought for three years to keep that freedom is a fool. The Yoruba man is not yet advanced enough to think beyond "one Nigeria". The very idea of freedom is a strange concept to them and that's why I don't take them serious. |
paparazzi1987:That's the kind of speech a spineless coward makes |
paparazzi1987:Grateful? Are you joking? Do you forget that we declared Biafra because we did not want you guys or Your Northern masters? What did you guys do? You joined hands with Your Northern masters to fight for 3 years to bring us back into 'one Nigeria'. Grateful my a$$! I'm not the one begging for 'one Nigeria', you guys are. |
raumdeuter:We are talking about Nigeria here not America. No African will tell you that Africa is more developed than America. Naturally people move or migrate to where they feel there are more opportunities. Now what you said: Ibo movement here just shows their land is barren and poverty stricken and they need to come to Yorubaland before they can surviveThere are many Yorubas in America, maybe even more than Igbos. There are many Yorubas in the UK, maybe even more than Igbos. Would it be fair to say Yorubaland is barren and porverty stricken that they need to migrate to those places? |
paparazzi1987:We fought and gained nothing, you have never and can never fight, talkless of knowing if there is anything to gain. But in your mind, you are brave. Lol |
raumdeuter:Oh we are coming to your region and making money? That's to our credit that we can do that. That's what born entrepreneurs do. They go different places to find that provabial fleece. In the context of Nigeria, a Yoruba man can't do that, but Igbos have done it in every region in Nigeria. Yorubas have their limitations. There are certain things things that Yorubas are not yet advanced to do which Igbos have long since done. And they are: strive to have their own independent nation outside Nigeria, make an economic mark everywhere in Nigeria and have a sense of self determination. Even in 50 years, I can't see the Yoruba man thinking beyond "one Nigeria". Igbos moved past this a long time ago |
aresa:Joker. I'm Igbo man. I came to your land and prospered. I went all over Nigeria and prospered. But you as a Yoruba never prospered anywhere in Nigeria outside your own land. As an Igbo man, I fought for my freedom, you as a Yoruba man will never fight for your freedom. It will always be about chasing after the northerners for "one Nigeria" for you guys because you don't have the guts to stand alone like Igbos can. That's why IPOB is laughable for you guys, the idea of independence outside Nigeria is beyond your realm of thinking. We are all different people, Hausa/Igbo/Yoruba. We will never be united, we never have. So let's all go our different ways and stop giving each other headache. Unfortunately, you Yorubas don't agree with this. |
paparazzi1987:Oh! You mean Lagos which the British made capital of Nigeria and benefitted for almost a hundred years by the collective effort of all? And then the Northern masters of the Yorubas transferred it to the North? Sometimes I wonder what Yorubas would have been if the British had never moved the Capital from Calabar to Lagos. One thing is clear though, other people like Igbos, even Hausas can come to Yorubaland and thrive. But rarely do you hear of Yorubas going to Igboland or Hausaland to thrive. |
paparazzi1987:What do Yorubas have? |
so you guys don't know the Avengers want the release of Kanu and Dasuki? Kanu is a secessionist leader. What Kanu and the Avengers are fighting for are not far apart. Its about political and economic control of their lands. Neither nor the Avengers care about Nigeria or the Hausa or Yoruba man. Kanu and the Avengers are not enemies. When it comes to Dasuki, I guess the reason why they want released is because Dasuki is a big enemy of Buhari. Dasuki has a lot of influence in the North, his release would cause a lot of headache for Buhari. The Avengers know what they are doing with those demands. As for Ken Saro Wiwa, he was just an Ogoni activist |
aresa:You still don't get do you? If Buhari never sat for WASC then he should have never been commissioned as an Officer in the first place which renders all qualifications he got as a Military officer null and void. |
Wealthgang:What do they care about then? How to remain in Nigeria and have their Oil and Gas wealth stolen by the Yorubas and Northerners? |
What is South-South people? The Nigerian constitution recognises tribes, it does not recognise anything called SS or SE. Infact, 30 years ago there was nothing called SS or SE. We only started hearing about SE/SS/SW about the time Abach died. In terms of Igbos, how do you recognise a person as Igbo? I'm from Anambra, I speak Igbo as my ancestral language and I have an Igbo surname. The same applies to people from Anioma, Etche,Ikwere,Oyigbo and Ndoki. So who is Igbo and who is not? I have been to Elele in Ikwereland several times and we were all speaking Igbo, only difference was that I had to be more attentive in other to understand them Well. So who is Igbo and who is not? The OP who wrote this nonsense would not be able to tell the difference between me and an Ikwere man if we were speaking Igbo, he would term all of us Igbos. When it comes to Niger-Delta Republic, how will the Isoko,Itsekiri, Ijaw and over 30 tribes in the south of Nigeria come together for a Niger-Delta Republic? What if Ogoni people don't want to be part of it? The funniest thing about this Niger-Delta Republic is that unlike the Biafran agitation where we are seeing people on the streets protesting, nobody is protesting for a Niger-Delta Republic. Not even one person! So how will this Republic come about when there is no action? More than 30 tribes and not even one single umbrella body to unite them. Do think that countries fall from the sky? We Igbo want a referendum, the minorities who are comfortable with us can come with us while the ones who are not can stay back in Nigeria with Hausas and Yorubas. So this thread is just pointless. |
walexbiz:Another Yoruba man defends his Northern master! How come Yorubas keep saying that Ironsi collapsed the regions? Don't the read enough history to know that the regions were still in existence almost a year after Ironsi died? Or did Ironsi resurrect from death to abolish the regions? Gowon announced on May 27th 1967 the dissolving of the confederation agreed in Aburi, abolishment of the regions, the creation of 12 states and the removal of resouce control and full blown unitary rule. Ojukwu then reacted by declaring Biafra. Naturally, the Yorubas then joined their Northern masters to fight Ojukwu and maintain that unitary Ojukwu was fighting against. |
General Buhari got his Principal to issue him a recommendation letter in lieu of his WASC. All these are matters of public records and I am sure you also saw a bromide of that recommendation letter when it was published. General Buhari was enlisted into the Nigerian Army with his Principal’s recommendation letter and not his WASC. Having been enlisted, General Buhari reported at the Army Depot for training and commenced his military career; he never went back to sit for the WASCThere is a chance that Buhari has no qualifications. If this is true, then his presidency is a fraud. |
uduak2016:Of course, anything for the Oil to keep flowing! |
aresa:Look man, anyone who cannot fight for their freedom is either a slave or a coward. Igbos have fought in the past and proved they neither. As for what you said above, we did it in 1967. We went back home to our new country. What happened? You guys who can't do without us came down the to East to bring us back into 'one Nigeria' |
