MikeZA: Nigeria bought her air defence missiles in the late 70s and early 80s and he thinks they're still active.

What we know is that Nigeria doesn't upgrade her weapons nor regularly take them for maintains.
Quote source proof for the bolded part please, how you know Nigerian military secret maintenance schedules !

MikeZA: NO CIWS and air defence missiles
Two F91 stealth ships have Four CIWS total. F89 has BVR air defence missiles that Valour frigate can only dream of
.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by AugustineAgain: 2:09pm On Sep 12, 2014
MikeZA: They do. Even CSIR(For researches). The guns on the valour class frigate can stop missiles all they need is careful correction by vessel's 3D radar when not using AHEAD ammo.
Post proof please...

patches689: Boko Haram surround Maiduguri
Published: Yesterday, 5:40 PM
Source: AFP

Kano - Boko Haram fighters have surrounded the northeast Nigerian city of Maiduguri and are preparing an imminent takeover, an influential regional group claimed on Thursday, calling for military reinforcements.

"They have completely surrounded the city of Maiduguri," the Borno Elders Forum, which is made up of retired senior civilian and military officials as well as community leaders, said in a statement.
Source: News24
Fake news, propaganda, read the truth and hurt yourself cheesy cheesy

"
The Defence Headquarters, Thursday denied the reports that Boko Haram militants had surrounded Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, in readineass for a takeover of the city.

The AFP had reported that Boko Haram fighters had surrounded Maiduguri and were preparing an imminent takeover.

It quoted the Borno Elders Forum as its source.

The warning from the Forum, made up of retired senior civilian and military officials, came after the United States warned of an attack on the city and analysts claimed the government risked losing control of the region.

But in a tweet on its handle, the military said its troops were now pursuing the fleeing terrorists from some towns and villages where they had been oppressing the people in the Northeastern states.

It stated that Mubi, Michika, Bazza, Gulak, Gwoza, Bama, Gamboru Ngala and other towns and villages in the region were being stabilised through air and land attacks against fleeing and dying terrorists.

“The efforts are yielding impressive results in the overall move to rid the areas of terrorist activities”.

It, however, frowned at the determination by a section of the media to cause panic and chaos in the region by deliberately ignoring visibly formidable security measures and reporting negativity.

He said, “Alarmist reports on foreign and online media on Maiduguri is clearly intended to cause panic in the city and the nation”.

We have AHEAD ammunition
Fact remains

Nigeria too has CIWS gun and ammunition same as China !
.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by AugustineAgain: 1:51pm On Sep 12, 2014
patches689: Yes it does

When you list specifications and capabilities - you list them

It does not have those capabilities hence it is not a true CIWS system

Even the Chinese say it's defences are so weak it is not capable of fleet operations
Nope, the website is discussing the warship details NOT the CIWS details, it does not give details about it's torpedoes as well, it's not the subject matter. All it needs to do is mention CIWS exists, two of it, better than Valour frigate that has only one !

Yes not for sea combat fleet because it carries no anti-ship missile for offense, but has perfect defense for itself. It cannot k.ill beyond 16km for lack of anti-ship missiles, thats what the Chinese say.

15km range radar guided 76mm gun will sink an Frigate in few minutes !

Msauza: It is really so unfortunate that you cannot do damage to BH which has now metamorphosed into a fully fledged conventional force.
Boko is dying and running out of ammunition, so much that even civilians are now killing them in large numbers, Nigerian army and air force broke the backbone of Boko Haram in Damboa and Bama, they will never recover !

"The attack came days after the military said the chief of army staff has relocated to Maiduguri. Nigerian security forces, and members of a local vigilante killed at least 207 Boko Haram militants who launched a daring attack on a military barracks and other neighbourhoods of Maiduguri, Borno State, the vigilante group, known as the civilian-JTF, said Friday. Members of the civilian-JTF said they counted at least 207 corpses of suspected Boko Haram members killed during clashes with government troops early Friday. One leader of the vigilante, Mallam Abdullahi, told PREMIUM TIMES his members counted more than 200 bodies of suspected insurgents in one area where the fighting took place, and said there would be more bodies in the bush. “We have counted 207 dead members of Boko Haram in our area, Jiddari-Polo, alone. Many others are being killed in the bush because the fighter-jet is still shelling them, and some of our members have accompanied the soldiers in pursuing them,” Mr. Abdullahi said"

patches689: so they can fire their rockets straight down from an altitude of 3km?

And at that distance they will hit with pin-point accuracy?

You don't know much about rockets do you?
At 2km they are still immune to your dunce of a missile, rocket pod is an area weapon, and your army is not tiny like an ant that cannot be seen, your vehicles are big, even Seleka did not miss target cheesy

patches689: The gun they tried to build in Iraq is very different to what we built

And we sold g5s to Iraq

So why would they buy from us if they already had it?

And what do you mean "the program" what program? You are talking about multiple different programs

Your argument is not only factually incorrect but is also illogical

You don't even have straws to clutch at
Iraq had problems getting artillery from Canadian origin due to political issues, they sponsored the research for artillery use. Fact !

DENEL is a copy cat cheesy
.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by AugustineAgain: 4:51am On Sep 12, 2014
patches689: O really?

Hmm... What gun does the valor class use for CIWS?
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valour-class_frigate

And now the death blow... Let's take a look at those guns:

Anti-missile
In the anti-missile role it uses Advanced Hit Efficiency And Destruction (AHEAD) ammunition from RWM Schweiz AG.[3] This round ejects 152 tungsten projectiles at a predetermined distance, between 40 and 10 m, from the target. A 25-round burst of AHEAD rounds produces 3,800 of these small projectiles to destroy the incoming missile.[4] Cruise missiles can be destroyed at 2.5 km and high speed missiles at 1.5 km range.[2]
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denel_35mm_Dual_Purpose_Gun

How does it feel to be so easily humiliated?
Nope, I don't trust wikipedia ! Any South African can edit it.

SIPRI says you have NO AHEAD ammunition, and no other source in this world says it.

Built to use it does not mean it has it. Nigerian Type 90 too is built to use AHEAD ammo, buy may not have it.

Gripen uses BVR missiles, does South Africa have it? No !

Even your SANDF says they are just trying to get CRAM capability by buying AHEAD ammo for the very first time, hopefully by 2017.

Valour Frigates have NO CIWS, and NO record of South Africa as a user of AHEAD ammunition !

South Africa: 102 GDF-002 + 48 modified GDF-005 units. Upgrading to the Skyshield system, GDF-006 AHEAD and GDF-007 AHEAD standard by 2017.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oerlikon_GDF

You have to wait till 2017 to get AHEAD ammo, now you are h.umiliated bobo cheesy cheesy

patches689: And who sold the design? We did!!

They were not designed as artillery in canada!

We turned the design into artillery

We sold it

Case closed
Nope, case open.

When the space program ended, it was redesigned as purely artillery for Iraq that was brought into the program before South Africa.

patches689: I said that it cannot hover effectively in the manner of modern attack helicopters and engage targets

Because to do so requires maneuverability- dropping into defilade, using tree lines and such for cover - shoot and scoot

The big lumbering hind has to hit targets like an aero plane because it's as maneuverable as a barn
Post a source where all that is written about the Hind, we don't accept personal ideas on this forum. Thank you

[size=14pt]

Wow ! Thanks for admitting that 12,000 SANDF slodiers are HIV sick and live on drugs, that army has 20 battalions that cannot endure hard combat or else your drug dependent army will collapse before the enemy even shoots them cheesy cheesy

South Africa has the weakest military in Africa !

patches689: Dude this argument is a waste of time. Look it up dual 35mm on valour class are listed as CIWS and citations regarding AHEAD ammo have been posted many times

Why are the 35mm no longer CIWS?
They are no longer and NEVER were CIWS because they have NO single AHEAD ammunition !

You boxed yourself into this trap, I have been reserving this trap for you since you said NNS Centenary has no CIWS despite all the sources I posted saying it does.

It's payback time dude cheesy

Then you have to accept that the two units of Nigerian NNS Centenary too has CIWS 30mm guns as posted by Military Factory website !

Simple cheesy

You don't have the accuracy to do so
Yes we do, optical telescopic sights, at 2,200m away, you look like just 600m.

Hind is cheaper that's why people buy it

If they had the money they would be buying rooivalk, Tiger, Ka50, Apache, havoc, mangusta or z10's or HAL or Cobra or Super Cobra or Viper

Dude the hind is an obsolete concept

And Poland is looking to replace theirs
http://theaviationist.com/2014/09/10/poland-new-attack-choppers/
Brazil just bought Hind E last year 2013, same way they are buying Gripen 2014.

Tell your 2 year old son Brazil bought obsolete Gripen and Hind E.
