Take a guess before you watch the video.

The 2017 Audi SQ7 would have an advantage with a modern 4.0-liter V8 diesel engine producing unit putting down 429 HP and an astounding 663 lb-ft of torque. Although the engine in the Jeep remains unknown.

Car Talk › Jubilation As Cars Drive To 4 Riverine Communities In Bayelsa For The First Time by autojosh(op): 5:51pm On Oct 24, 2017
On the 14th of October 2017, a vehicle was driven to 4 riverine communities in Sagbama and Ekeremor Local Government Areas in Bayelsa State for the first time in history.

It was a moment of jubilation for the residents who were seeing a vehicle on their land for the first time since they were born. The state governor Hon Seriake Dickson is putting an end to this with an ongoing construction of a N30 billion Sagbama-Ekeremor road.

The road, which is 60 percent complete, is expected to be completed in 2018. Joyous villagers, who saw vehicles only when they traveled out of their communities and never believed vehicles would come into their locality in their lifetime, trooped out in large numbers to welcome the governor and his entourage.

Very true @ wiring issues.. The sad part is they usually occur intermittently and can easily go unnoticed till you start to spend some time with the car.
Car Talk › This Is How To Spot A Flooded Car (video) by autojosh(op): 1:52pm On Oct 24, 2017
After Hurricane Harvey and Irma, the number of flooded cars listed on USA auction sites has more than quadrupled.. especially in Texas and Florida. Recently, some of the auction yards commenced daily auctions as against once or twice a week.. in order to dispose the damaged vehicles as soon as possible.

Also, we do not need a soothsayer to tell us a large number of these vehicles will land in Nigeria.. In-fact, I have received several call from people who intend to cash in on these flooded cars. Well, I have been able to discourage some from going on such a wild goose chase while a few are still contemplating; thinking flooded cars are always cheaper.. not knowing they can be way more expensive.

For those who would like to know why it is bad to buy a flooded car, I would do a post as soon as possible to give you more insight..

Meanwhile, watch this video from Consumer Reports which would enlighten you on how to spot a flooded car.. and if you are not sure of how to do all that, don't forget to visit a professional inspector.

Car Talk › The 2017 Toyota Fine-comfort Ride Concept Actually Looks Comfortable (photos) by autojosh(op): 5:19pm On Oct 23, 2017
The Toyota Fine-Comfort Ride is a 6 seater fuel cell vehicle (FCV) that envisions mobility in a low-carbon society with advanced utilization of hydrogen and renewable energy.

Toyota pursued further possibilities of FCVs through the development of the Fine-Comfort Ride. It offers excellent environmental performance by discharging no CO2 or substances of concern (SoC) while in operation, together with the convenience of a generous cruising range with a hydrogen refueling time of about three minutes.

It adopts a diamond-shaped cabin that narrows towards the rear, while being wider in all dimensions from the front to the center of the vehicle, maximizing the space of the second row seats and aerodynamic performance.

The seats allow for flexible adjustment according to posture, and the displays allow the driver and passengers to freely access information. The seat layout can be flexibly adjusted, so Fine-Comfort Ride can be used as individual space or as a communication space for individuals.

The Fine-Comfort Ride boasts quietness and smooth running and also makes full use of the large amount of electricity provided by hydrogen as its energy source. The interior features a full range of equipment, and the car can achieve a cruising range of approximately 1,000 km (JC08 test cycle).

Toyota is expected to display the Fine-Comfort Ride at Tokyo Big Sight during the 45th Tokyo Motor Show 2017. The theme for this year's show, which runs for 12 days from October 25 to November 5*, is "Beyond the Motor."

Car Talk › Re: 2019 Volvo Polestar 1 With 600hp Unveiled (details And Photos) by autojosh(op): 9:12pm On Oct 22, 2017

Car Talk › 2019 Volvo Polestar 1 With 600hp Unveiled (details And Photos) by autojosh(op): 9:11pm On Oct 22, 2017
Polestar, Volvo Car Group’s performance brand, has today revealed its future as a new standalone electric performance brand. Polestar confirmed plans for its first three models, a new purpose-built production facility in China.

The company also unveiled the 600hp Polestar 1, the company’s first car, which is set to roll off the production line in mid-2019.

Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer of Polestar said; “Polestar 1 is the first car to carry the Polestar on the bonnet. A beautiful GT with amazing technology packed into it - a great start for our new Polestar brand. All future cars from Polestar will feature a fully electric drivetrain, delivering on our brand vision of being the new standalone electric performance brand".

The Polestar 1 is a two-door, 2+2 seat Grand Tourer Coupé with an ‘Electric Performance Hybrid’ drivetrain. An electric car supported by an internal combustion engine, it has a range of 150kms on pure electric power alone - the longest full electric range of any hybrid car on the market. Its output of 600hp and 738 lb ft of torque places the car firmly in the performance car segment.

This is the world’s first car to be fitted with the all-new class-leading Öhlins Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension (CESi) advanced chassis technology. A carbon fibre body reduces bodyweight and improves torsional stiffness by 45%, as well as lowering the cars’ centre of gravity.

It will be built in the state-of-the-art, purpose-built Polestar Production Centre in Chengdu, China. Currently under construction, it is due for completion in mid-2018.

Polestar will also move away from today’s traditional ownership model. Cars will be ordered 100% online and offered on a two or three year subscription basis. The zero-deposit, all-inclusive subscription will also add features such as pick-up and delivery servicing and the ability to rent alternative vehicles within the Volvo and Polestar range, all incorporated into one monthly payment.

The flat rate subscription means that having a Polestar car becomes a hassle free experience for the customer. This is facilitated by Phone-As-Key technology. It allows the owner to share a virtual key with a third party, and also enables access to a host of other on-demand features. This concierge service ensures that the customer only needs to focus on the enjoyment of driving.

Please, you didn't say anything about the shipping fees and other fees involved even if the vehicle is located close to the port. What are the estimates? The agent over there will not work for free na and the shipping will also not be free. Again, the RoRo or Container method should attract different fees, how much? Please respond... Thanks.
Ocean freight should be between $700 to $800.. and other charges may apply based on the specifics of your transaction. You can check estimated cost of trucking on uship.com

Car Talk › Coscharis Ford Auto Plant In Nigeria - 600 Vehicles Rolled Out Already by autojosh(op): 1:25pm On Oct 17, 2017
The Ford Auto Plant was unveiled on Friday 13th of October, 2017 by Dr Cosmas Maduka (President/CEO Coscharis Group). The plant which sits on a 14 Hectare land in Lekki is one of the success stories of Coscharis Group and this was aided by the Federal Government of Nigeria's National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP).

This is the second Ford plant in Africa after South Africa and so far, 600 units of Ford Rangers have been rolled out of the Lagos Assembly plant since it commenced operation. At the moment, the facility will focus on the Ranger Trucks and venture into other product lines in the near future.

I can attest to the ruggedness of the Locally assembled Ranger Trucks after taking one for an extreme off-road test drive when I visited this facility.

Car Talk › 5 “bondages” You Will Be Free From With Driverless Cars by autojosh(op): 12:35pm On Oct 16, 2017
The buzz is on and it won’t stop!.We are officially in the future, thanks to Elon Musk and the founding fathers before him ,but we are not completely there yet, there is still a lot of work to be done .

Truth be told, with time there would be very little arrests and a lot of freedom for car owners .

Here are some “bondages” that would be lifted off :

Freedom To Drink And Drive :
I am not preaching drinking oo,but think about it ,you can drink yourself to stupor and you don’t need to worry about being safe .

There is a lot of debate going on presently in countries that have accepted driverless cars ,whether or not the car owners should be allowed to drink and be drunk while in self-driving cars.

Overspeeding
I know our Olopa does not have the facility to detect whether we are overspeeding or not, they just use their eyes to gauge it (if you see any of such device ,please inform us).But for the countries that have a full system to prevent and prosecute overspeeding drivers, driverless cars would surely eliminate such concerns with time.

Accidents
Even though there were several scenarios where Tesla crashed into things ,driverless cars would get better with time and you no longer have to bother about brushing the gala seller off the road ,the car would just avoid them for you .

Restriction For Learners
So you don’t know how to drive ? or are you terrified of driving ? ,leave it to the car !

Lack Of Sleep
You will not understand how exhausting it is to drive until you drivie from Lagos to the north. Driverless cars would help your condition. Just relax unrap that fufu and dig it into the egusi soup and increase the volume of that movie, then take a very long nap-Welcome to Borno !

I know you have something to add, talk to us !

Car Talk › Mitsubishi Is Changing The Way Cars Give Signals by autojosh(op): 12:25pm On Oct 16, 2017
According to research 60 percent of pedestrian fatalities on roads occur at night .Mitsubishi wants to help reduce the number and make the road safer for everyone at night.

They have announced a new safe and secure lighting system ,which utilizes a mixture of symbols projected on road surfaces and electronic car displays to signal vehicle warning signals, movement and actions.

Let me break it down :

Imagine a system where you don’t have to depend solely on signals like reverse light ,but also on signals that are projected on the floor and other objects.

With time the system is expected to be integrated into self-driving cars ,so it can inform pedestrians and other road users especially conventional drivers of any move it intends to make.

Are we in the future already ?

Travel › Boeing Is About To Change The Future Of Autonomous Flight by autojosh(op): 12:15pm On Oct 16, 2017
Boeing really needs no introduction, they have been building awesome machines since 1916 !.They made a recent acquisition that would make a mark in the autonomous flight industry .

They are acquiring Aurora Flight Sciences, a company focused on the development of autonomous electric aircraft. The move confirms Boeing’s commitment to bringing their first self-flying commercial passenger vehicle to reality !.

There was a lot of buzz about Aurora in 2016 ,when Uber enlisted them to help in bringing Uber Elevate Flying Taxi to life .

Aurora has about 20 years experience ,with about 30 pilot free vehicles to their name .Combining such wealth of experience with the financial power ,age and experience of Boeing would surely bring about awesome results .

The development of flying taxis is definitely coming sooner than expected since Airbus gave a hint of a release coming very soon and Boeing supporting a $2 million contest to deliver the next generation flying machines.

Watch the video below to have a feel of what Aurora has been up to :

Car Talk › GM SURUS Is A Driverless Truck With Fuel Cell Technology (photos) by autojosh(op): 11:14am On Oct 10, 2017
General Motors aims to solve some of the toughest transportation challenges created by natural disasters, complex logistics environments and global conflicts. They have come up with a Silent Utility Rover Universal Superstructure (SURUS), a flexible fuel cell electric platform with autonomous capabilities. The commercially designed platform could be adapted for military use.

SURUS leverages GM’s newest Hydrotec fuel cell system, autonomous capability and truck chassis components to deliver high-performance, zero-emission propulsion to minimize logistical burdens and reduce human exposure to harm.

Benefits include quiet and odor-free operation, off-road mobility, field configuration, instantaneous high torque, exportable power generation, water generation and quick refueling times.

SURUS will deliver highly mobile autonomous capability and agility in unpredictable terrain. Operating multiple vehicles in a leader-follower configuration could reduce manpower needed.

Car Talk › 5 Reasons Why You Should Always Wear A Seatbelt - Innoson by autojosh(op): 10:01am On Oct 10, 2017
When it comes to wearing a seatbelt in Nigeria 40% of Nigerian road users don’t find it useful or they underestimate its usefulness while the 50% that wears it don’t wear it religiously or they only wear it to take a selfie. The remaining 10% that uses the seatbelt do so in order not to be fined by the law according to a survey conducted by a team of experts.

According to National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria recorded 11, 363 road accidents in 2016, the report stated that 4,696 of the 5,053 Nigerians that got killed, representing 93 percent of the figure were adults, while the remaining 357 Nigerians, representing seven percent of the figure are children.  About 50% of these people could be saved if they wore seatbelts. Driver safety is very important. When you are behind the wheel, your actions will affect you, the people you carry in the car and anyone else who happens to be on the road near you.

One way to promote safety is to always wear your seatbelt when the car is in motion even when you are driving within your Estate because studies have shown that 75% of car accidents and injuries occur within 25 miles of the home. Also, more than half of all injury-producing motor accidents involve low speed under 40mph.

Perhaps, you don’t like wearing a seatbelt or don’t find the task to be very important, our list of reasons to wear a seatbelt may just change your mind.

1. Seatbelt Saves Lives:
The function of the seatbelts is to stop the forward momentum of the driver and front passenger in the event of an accident. It is the best defense against road hazards, aggressive drivers, distracted drivers etc. The front and back of a car are designed to crumple to absorb the violent shock of impact, and the seatbelts would restrain the occupants and hold them back in the car. Without the seatbelts, forward momentum would smash the head and body into the steering wheel, dashboard, windshield or front seat.

2. It works together with Airbags:
We are in the day and age when front airbags are standard accessories, unquestioning belief in the life-saving property of airbags often devalues the importance of seatbelts. The reality is airbags are designed to work in conjunction with seatbelts, not independently or in place of seatbelts. Without putting up a seatbelt, an airbag might not expand fast enough to cushion the forward momentum of the occupant and in certain cases plowing unrestrained into an airbag has been known to cause death by suffocation.

3. It is the Law:
Wearing a seatbelt is the law in any country. If you are caught not wearing a seatbelt you could face expensive fines and consequences.

4. Safety of our Children:
Children in a car are more vulnerable to getting flung in the event of an accident. Seatbelts work on top of various child restraint systems each tailored to the height of the child to significantly reduce the fatality rate of children in car accidents. Of every 100 children who die in motor vehicle accidents at least, 80 would survive if they were properly secured in an approved child safety seat or safety belt.

5. Maximum protection for pregnant women:
Wearing a seatbelt is critical to the protection of both mother and child. It is perfectly safe for even heavily pregnant women. It may be slightly uncomfortable for an expectant mother but wearing a seatbelt will not harm the baby at all and it reduces the fatality risk of the mother without whom the fetus’s chances of survival are grim.

In conclusion, people have a general notion that the back seatbelt is not useful like that of the front, this is not true. It is as important as the front seatbelts. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) wearing a front seatbelt can reduce the risk of fatal injury by 50% while wearing a back seatbelt can reduce the risk by a whopping 75%.

Make wearing your seatbelt a habit. The next time you get in a car remember to buckle up, no one plans to get into an accident but a seatbelt can save your life only if you are wearing it.
