Check the streets of Lagos, taxicabs are painted yellow. Check New York City as well, they are also painted yellow. This same colour is used on taxicabs in several cities around the world. The video below from Business Insider explains why yellow is the most preferred colour for taxicabs worldwide. The reason is yellow cabs have fewer accidents. The video says.. "Researchers have discovered a very good reason yellow cabs end up in fewer accidents. They used Singapore as a case study using some yellow and some blue cabs. Over 16,000 of these cabs were tracked for 3 months.. It was concluded that yellow cabs are easier to see, therefore, they have a lower chance of being hit". Could this mean that you are safer inside Lagos yellow cabs? You may call it dumb but car collectors see it as gold. To make matters worse for car collectors, this car has a lot of history and not more than 25 units were made. One is now going up for auction and it is expected to be the most expensive British car ever sold at an auction. This Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato is one out of only three that were made in ultra-light DP209 specification. It was also driven by Jim Clark who is a two-time F1 champion and Indy 500 winner . Despite looking this clean, the car has crashed several times and it has been repaired several times. Now, it is going up for sale at the Festival of Speed which is the same place it crashed 56 years ago. Presently, the most valuable British car ever sold at an auction is a 1956 Aston Martin DBR1 which was sold for $22.5 million and the Zagato is expected to break this record. Any car collector in the house? Will you buy this car for N8.2Billion? Tell us in the comment section. https://autojosh.com/will-buy-1960-aston-martin-db4gt-zagato-n8-2billion-photos/

A lot of Nigerian car owners have fallen victims of removing their car thermostat just after they bought their car. Many incompetent mechanics succeeded advising a lot of people wrongly to tamper with this thermostat of a thing. Before we proceed, let’s know the basics about this thermostat and what it does in our cars. The thermostat sits between the engine and the radiator for every liquid-cooled car engine. Its work is to block the flow of coolant to the radiator until the engine has warmed up. When the engine is cold, no coolant flows through the engine. In other words, it ensures the engine is running at its optimal temperature. Removing the thermostat from any car isn’t a good idea. It simply complicates issues and makes things worse for your car. Removing the thermostat will simply make the engine to over cool. That is bad. It will increase fuel consumption, as the engine CTS (coolant temperature sensor) will assume the engine’s not up to normal operating temperature, and simply inject more fuel in. This will cause premature engine wear, as the excess fuel will wash the oil from the cylinder bores (bore wash). Removing the thermostat is similar to a doctor removing an important organ in the body. We stand to oppose the removal of this thermostat in cars all in a bid of overcoming your car from overheating. Have your car checked properly to know why it overheats. An overheating engine could be caused by a myriad of problems – blown head gasket, cracked cylinder head / block, thermostat stuck in the shut position, a clogged radiator, inoperative cooling fan or even the wrong fuel / spark plug grade. Tell us your experience in the comment section. https://autojosh.com/never-remove-car-thermostat-avoid-overheating-youre-killing-car/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

Geely is the Chinese company behind Volvo. They own Volvo. Geely recently took the biggest shareholder in Mercedes-Benz after taking a £6.4 billion ($9 billion) stake in Daimler. With this particular action, Geely is now Daimler’s largest shareholder with control of just under 10 per cent of the huge German car manufacturer. Geely’s intentions had already been signaled by reports from the financial community that the firm was building its shareholding in Daimler. Now the move has been confirmed in a report to the markets by Daimler itself, in which it states that it welcomes another major investor. The 9.69 per cent stake in Daimler taken by Geely is said to signal its desire for technological cooperation, particularly in the electric vehicle field, as well as the kind of economies of scale enjoyed by the VolksWagen Group brands. What do you think about this?? https://autojosh.com/volvo-owner-geely-buys-10-stake-mercedes-benz/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

There are several great expectations about the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. A lot of automobile makers and designers are been anticipated to put up impressive exhibitions of their freshest ideas and releases. However, Peugeot is coming to the event on a different dimension. The French automaker’s design studio will be featuring at the event a new emblem for the Peugeot brand. The emblem to be showcased at the auto fair is a giant lion sculpture. It stands 15.7 feet tall and 41 feet long . The geometric design is an effort to give a modern day representation of the brand’s logo. Have you ever been frustrated by the nuances and complexity of selling a car that you no longer need? If you are, you are not alone. It seems that when you want to buy a car, everybody wants to sell to you but when you want to sell one, the only people interested are those that want to pay half of what the car is worth. The rigours you will undergo as a private seller will include letting prospective buyers know that your car is for sale, attending to the telephone calls of prospects and allocating precious time to those who will want to test drive your car and the inevitable time wasters that will offer you half of what your car is worth. You can completely avoid the mentioned hassles by simply handing over your car to a trusted car dealer telling him the price range you want to sell your car for. He will do the marketing work and come back to you with what buyers are offering for your car. The only snag is that he will take a percentage of the sakes price for his efforts. These few steps will help you sell your car at a good price: 1. To sell your car yourself, you need to find out what your car is worth. Online car sale listings will give you an idea of the value of cars that are similar to yours. 2. Tidy up you car. A good mechanic can help you prep up your car for a modest fee. Of course, major repairs that need a larger amount of money might have to be left for the buyer (you will need to inform the buyer before purchase). 3. If you can't give your car an ideal clean up, take it to a car care shop and clean the heck out of it. Make sure it's not just clean but clinically clean. It should smell minty-fresh too! 4. You might want to spend some money to increase the sales value. Consider oil change, brakes, faulty lights, cracked mirrors, faulty locks, wipers and blades, horn, radio... Basically, any minor thing that you can afford to fix should be fixed. It will place you in a better position during negotiations. Make sure your car documents are in order. 5. Next is to advertise. Take a few clear pictures of the car showing the body, interior and engine. Good pictures are very important. (You might want to cover the registration plates with paper before photographing or edit them out with a photo-editing app). 6. Start with friends, family and colleagues. Tell them you are willing to exchange your car for cash. After that, hit the internet. There are various online marketplace that allows you to advertise your car, upload your car-for-sale advert to the more credible ones. Be sure to mention items that will interest a buyer in your description of the car: Make and year of manufacture. Is the gear manual or automatic, is the air conditioner functioning, what is the mileage, has it been repainted, are the tyres still FRSC valid, was it used sparingly, reason for sale and we'll maintained? Be clear in your description and use good grammar. 7. You might be lucky to make a quick sale, but most times you might just have to be patient. Answer all the enquiry calls and respond politely to questions about your car. 8. When expecting prospects, arrange to meet at a public place. It is not a good idea to have random people you meet online know where you live, At least until you have a very likely buyer. Schedule inspection and test drives for times that are convenient to you. 9. When it comes to negotiations, be firm but be reasonable . The buyer wants the lowest price possible, you want the highest. You may have to compromise a little. 10. As soon as a deal has been made. Demand cash payment. Don't accept a cheque. Walk to the bank with the buyer if necessary to have him deposit the payment in your account. 11. Sign and hand over the purchase receipt and a letter authorizing transfer of ownership. Don't forget to like, rate, share and tell us the trick you used to sell your car at a profit. https://autojosh.com/sell-used-car-profit/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

You probably have heard about the EV (Electric Vehicle) auto manufacturer Tesla. Tesla Motors currently dominate the EV market. But, why haven’t we been seeing them on Nigerian Roads? The first Tesla that was spotted on Nigerian road went viral and people that have not had light to charge their phones were wondering what the owner will be going through. Let’s face it, Teslas are not that expensive. I mean the Model 3 starts around the $30,000 mark which makes it on par with Toyotas and Hondas. Yes, there are Teslas of over $100,000 (36m naira), but these are equally affordable in the Nigerian auto market considering the number of G-Wagons and luxury sports cars this country has. To the main talking point, why haven’t we been seeing Tesla cars on Nigerian roads? 1. Nigeria is a late adopter of new technology Let’s rewind back to 15 years when mobile technology was becoming the real thing in Nigeria. Owning a SIM card was seen as more valuable than actually owning a mobile phone. SIM cards were effectively more expensive than phones. In real terms, the first mobile phone was manufactured in 1973; it took us 30 years to utilise it in Nigeria, and probably 40 years before it became ubiquitous. How about ‘smartphones’? Apple introduced the original iPhone in 2007. Android was invented in 2008. Yet, all those years Nokia was the thing. In the same vein, Tesla and other electric vehicles would take some time before they get accepted in the Nigerian eco-system. 2. Technical Know-how When I say technical know-how, I mean on the part of the auto mechanic and the car owner. For any new invention, there’s always a novel approach and possibly a long one. The owners of Tesla may need to drive the car for a few days, weeks, or months to get used to the modus operandi. Additionally, there are no qualified mechanics to service an EV, or they are very few in number which makes purchasing a Tesla an option to rethink. 3. Charging Station Electric vehicles are different from conventional vehicles in the way they are powered. While you may fuel a normal car at the next filling station, an electric vehicle needs to be charged in a proper electric charging station, and this may take several hours depending on the amount of charge you want. There are obviously no electric charging stations in Nigeria, meaning any Tesla owner would need to have a dedicated charging station at home. Another challenge is, you'll probably need to use your Mikano generator to power the charging station with this epileptic power supply. Don't forget to like, rate and share. Also tell us what year you think Tesla cars will become popular like pure water in Nigeria. https://autojosh.com/reasons-havent-seen-tesla-nigerian-roads/

In 2016, Toyota Corolla became the bestselling car in the world with over 40 million units sold. As a Nigerian, it is easy to see the reason behind that figure as you can hardly see 10 cars without counting at least five Toyotas. Toyota has become that commonplace in Nigeria. There are individuals who have sought to use a different car other than Toyota, but many of them keep running back to the car they ignored. Many have sought to find reasons for Toyota’s dominance but always complicate everything when the reasons are quite simple. 1. Toyota Cars are Relatively Cheap When you compute the cost of owning a Benz or a BMW, you wouldn’t need to be told why Toyota is commonplace in a country whose 70% of its population lives below average wealth. Even the Nigerian Government understands the difference between Toyota and the German machines so they make you pay higher custom import duty on the latter. 2. They are Durable While Toyota cars are cheap, they are not the only cheap products in the auto market. One of the reasons why they are popular is that they last for a long time. You can literally use a Sienna, Camry or whatever for 10 years without needing to do any major transformation even if you never bought it brand new.3. Drivability You wouldn’t understand this unless you drive a Camry and go on to drive another car in the same class like a Toyota has a good drivability that makes you feel in control of your world when behind the wheel which is one of the reasons why drivers love buying it again and again.4. Balance When a car has a good price and comes with a durable engine, a great movement, and nice exterior design. A Toyota will give you all that you need in good measure without breaking your pocket. 5. Spare Parts What’s the point in buying a car that you can hardly replace its spare parts when it gets faulty? This is one of the considerations people make before buying a car and eventually settling for a Toyota. The spare parts are ready whenever you want, and at affordable prices. That’s everything a car owner needs when he/she has to replace some car parts. 6.Auto Mechanics With a Toyota vehicle, you don’t need to look too far to get a mechanic. It is known that mechanics find the brand easy to disassemble and repair. To them, it is a simple car that doesn’t take much skill to master. That does not mean some mechanics won't mess your Toyota up big time. When you have numerous mechanics that can fix a car, the cost of fixing that car comes down dramatically. 7. Fuel-Efficient Fuel is expensive, already; using a car that consumes excess fuel could be a bad economic choice if you have to struggle to fill-up. The fuel efficiency of Toyota brands makes them one of the top reasons why they are Nigeria’s No. 1 automobile. However, we are not saying you should go buy a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 and expect it to consume less fuel than a 4 cylinder Volkswagen Jetta.. It will just do you like film trick. 8. Resale value An average Nigerian who is buying a car today is already calculating how much he/she will sell it 5 years from now. Toyota cars hold their value pretty well and can still put some coins in your account after its entire life span. Don't forget to like, rate and share. Also add your opinion and tell us your best car brand in the comment section. https://autojosh.com/toyota-nigerias-no1-car/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

Following the unprecedented catastrophe of unparallel proportion that was about to engulf the Road Transport Sector in Nigeria, where over 40,881 crashes were recorded in the year 1976 alone; concerned citizens at home and in Diaspora led by Prof Wole Soyinka stood to liberate their fatherland from the shackles of Road Traffic crashes. It was these and many other factors that informed the decision of the then Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida in 1988 to establish The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC). The organisation which has since served Nigerians as a lead agency in traffic and safety management is celebrating its 30th anniversary this weekend. The 4 day event commenced on Friday 16th of February 2018 and the highlight is as follows: 16th Feb. 2018 - Visit to Kubwa General Hospital by Road Safety Officers Wives Association (ROSOWA) at 11 am. - Juma'at Prayer at National Mosque, Abuja. 1 pm 17th Feb. 2018 - Walking and Jogging at the FRSC Head Quarter, Abuja. 6 am - Safety Games at National Stadium, Abuja. 1 pm 18th Feb. 2018 - Church Service at Catholic Church of Assumption, Asokoro, Abuja. 10 am 19th Feb. 2018 - Grande Finale at Open House, NAF Center, Kado, Abuja. 9 am For avoidance of doubt, the actual anniversary date is 18th of February, 2018. https://autojosh.com/frsc-celebrate-30th-anniversary/

ceejay675:@ Sirkelvin is right. It depends on several factors including the type of brake pads you use. You only need to inspect the brake pads at regular intervals and change them when they have reached their wear limits. The best brake pad to use is OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). The one manufactured or recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. You can also get more information from your manual. |
femimighty:I will drive it that way since it's slightly low but you need to top it up if it goes down to the minimum bar. |

cyborg123:I would top it if the brake pads are not worn out, not due for change or temporarily before fixing the issue. Note: The most important thing is to determine the cause of the shortage and decide if and when it has to be fixed. |
cyborg123:Sure, you have to top it after replacing the brake pads. |
One of the most scaring thing about driving is your car not stopping when you want it to stop. Same scare arises when it can not slow down when you desire. If you’re not a professional or advanced driver who has lots of experience, you might not be able to handle the adrenaline rush. No matter how sophisticated and powerful a car is, brake is still the most essential part of the car. When it comes to brakes, proper care should be given to it, else, it is prone to disappoint you. Your brakes need to be in good condition, no matter what type of car you drive. You and those who are driving around you are always at the mercy of your vehicle’s braking system. Your brakes are a matter of life and death. A lot of people still get some things wrong about the brakes and how they work; some of these misconceptions and their corresponding corrections. 1. Some think unless you hear grinding noise, your break is fine: If you start hearing grinding noises from your brakes, something must be very wrong somewhere. This can finally result to brake disc damage if care is not taken. When there is reduced responsiveness during braking, vibrations or a pulling to one side while braking, ensure you have your brakes checked. It’s advisable you have your brakes checked every 6,000-7,000 miles to help you avoid the danger and expense of damaged brake discs. 2. It is normal for brake fluid to go below normal from time to time: The break fluid won’t go low if everything about the brake is normal. Your brake might be working properly for a while and won’t lose its stopping power immediately. When there is constant or time to time decrease in the brake fluid level, it can mean your brake pads or master cylinder need to be fixed. It could also mean that there’s a leak in the brake lines. It also good you know a small leak of brake fluid today might be a disaster tomorrow. Get it fixed!!! 3. Some think wet roads will cause your brakes not to work well: A good set of braakes should work fine regardless of the weather condition. Hydroplaning and skidding are not caused by good brakes, though they may be the result of driver errors. it is important to have your brake system inspected if it hasn’t been checked in a while and you know that severe weather is imminent. 4. You can use any brake pad sold out there: It is not every brake pad that you buy is good for your vehicle. All brake pads does not have the same quality. Whether replacing brake pads yourself or leaving it up to a qualified mechanic, it’s vital to make sure any part you use is reputable and sound. https://autojosh.com/car-brakes-misconceptions-fluid-pads/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

Clearly, Mercedes is getting it right with the reinvention of the Maybach as one of it sub-brands. This has become more evident with the new 2019 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. Indeed, nothing screams swankiness and opulence like this latest creation. The Maybach S-Class is 215-inches long. It rides on a 132.5-inch wheelbase. Following its seventh consecutive year of record sales, BMW started 2018 with another record: the BMW Group has never sold so many cars in January as in this year. A total of 169,538 customers took delivery of a BMW, MINI or Rolls-Royce premium vehicle, an increase of 3.8% on the same month last year. “We are driving the biggest model offensive in the company’s history and as availability ramps up in the course of the year, this will continue to come through in our sales results,” said Pieter Nota, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Sales and Brand BMW. “Deliveries of the new BMW 5 Series sedan, for example, are up by 40%, while the introduction of the new BMW 6 Series GT has far more than doubled overall BMW 6 Series sales in the month. As we introduce more exciting new models like the all-new BMW X2 and increase supply of the BMW X3 in the second half of this year, I’m confident this record month is the start of another record year,” Nota continued. Having delivered well over 100,000 electrified vehicles in 2017, the BMW Group is looking to build further on that success and is targeting 140,000 electrified vehicles this year, thereby maintaining its leading position in the premium battery-electric/plug-in hybrid segment. With sales of BMW i, BMW iPerformance and MINI Electric vehicles increasing by 36.7% compared to January last year, things are well on track to achieve that target. Worldwide, a total of 7,155 customers took delivery of a premium BMW Group electrified vehicle in January. More than a quarter of all BMW and MINI vehicles sold in Scandinavia were electrified. Other very strong markets include Great Britain/Ireland, where electrified vehicles accounted for 11.1% of total BMW and MINI sales and the USA, where the proportion of electrified sales was 5.2%. https://autojosh.com/bmw-group-records-best-ever-january/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

This 1976 Mercedes Benz 300D was spotted in Lagos. Surprisingly, everyone could not keep their eyes off it saying all they could remember about it.. It reminded some about that rich kid in their school who made them feel intimidated because their dad had a Benz. Some argued the car's nickname was Shagari while some said it was called Murtala (what name did you call it back then?) The argument got more intense as some said the owner must have gotten it for more than N10m and some others said it shouldn't have been more than 200k. Tell us how much you think these relatively old cars are worth like Dino Melaye's 1965 Benz 190 and Governor Fayose's 1957 Benz 220? How much will you pay for them? Let's hear your opinion in the comment section. https://autojosh.com/1976-mercedes-benz/

Tata Motors was established in 1945 and was introduced into the Nigerian market few years ago. We certainly didn't like their cars like the "Tata Indigo". Now, the carmaker is ready to wow everyone with their new concept vehicles. I bet you'd love them. See photos and details below and tell us what you think about them and which one you prefer. 2018 Tata H5X https://i66.tinypic.com/16lwif7.jpg According to TATA, this vehicle will be the first car to be produced using the company's new Impact Design 2.0 design language. This SUV has huge 22-inch wheels with massive wheel arches. This gives the car a lot of ground clearance. The car also comes with slim, high-set headlights on the front and the lower bumper and fog lamps are joined in a 'tri-arrow pattern. The very exquisite leather interior puts it in good stead to compete with other more established brands. https://i63.tinypic.com/35mi8h1.jpg The car is also fitted with an elaborate touch-screen infotainment system. This is intended to provide diverse connectivity option. At the extreme rear of the car, there are only two seats. However, in the final product, we anticipate a three-seater arrangement. As this is just an official unveiling, there is no word yet on pricing or its performance specs, but the car will come in a five and seven-seater variant. Whether the final product resembles the concept is another matter entirely. At any rate this is one Tata SUV that is just a feast for the eyes. https://i64.tinypic.com/f1mrra.jpg 2018 Tata 45X https://i68.tinypic.com/2csjwno.jpg The 45X is a premium hatchback. It gets a slim dual-LED headlamps, lower grill that gives the front of the 45X a sleek stance. It has a surfboard-like spoiler mounted at the top of the rear. https://i68.tinypic.com/e6ruk4.jpg https://i66.tinypic.com/10ihzmd.jpg Don't forget to like, rate, share and tell us what you think in the comment section. https://autojosh.com/2018-tata-h5x-45x-concept-screams-never-despise-little-beginnings/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun |
