The McLaren Senna is the ultimate road-legal sport car.

It was recently released by McLaren Automotive – a car company that was only founded in 2010, but charting a new course in the sport car manufacturing business.



The McLaren Senna has been legalized for road use, but not sanitised to suit it.

This 2019-model ultimate road-legal track car was befittingly named in honour of the legendary Formula 1 driver, Ayrton Senna.

At 1,198kg (2,641lbs), the McLaren Senna is the lightest McLaren road car since the iconic McLaren F1.

The Senna features a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8. It is also considered as the most powerful McLaren road car internal combustion engine ever, with 789bhp and 590 lb ft.

The Senna is a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive chassis – the optimum configuration for dynamic excellence.

The McLaren Senna is all hand-assembled. The production is limited to 500 units.

Of Course, all of these are reflected in its price: the McLaren Senna is available for purchase at N383 million (£750,000) including taxes.

No doubt, this would be a worthy toy for sport car enthusiast.

The menace of driving on Nigerian roads are numerous. They are not limited to stress induced by dense traffic and the all too common accidents.

Bad Roads
Bad roads are like the popular telecom slogan 'everywhere you go'. They seem to have a mind of their own preferring to be located where it will be most distrustful to road users. At best they slow you down and at worst they damage your vehicle.

Heavy Trucks
The fuel tanker and the unlatched container truck are not the best partners to tangle with. There have been occurrences where they tip over and fall on vehicles. Prudent drivers give them a wide berth while on the road and they are very cautious when overtaking. The reason is simple, collision with such a large truck can turn your beloved car to a wreck and land you in a hospital.

Drivers of 'Danfo' buses are not renowned for their politeness and consideration for other road users.
They see nothing wrong with disobeying traffic regulations. That includes stopping to pick or drop passengers in the middle of the road, adding one more menace to deprive you of peaceful driving.

Commercial Motorcycles
The more the government try to limit their operations, the more they devise means of eluding government enforcement officers. It is not uncommon to see a motorcycle with the rider and 3 or more mounted passengers.
They dart in and out of traffic. A city driver must be on the alert to avoid hitting them.

Traffic Robbers
A typical road user will have in his possession, a phone, some money and other valuables. These are attractive targets for traffic robbers. Robberies happens often in the later hours on roads that are congested. It happens in broad daylight too.

Pedestrians
Pedestrians with death wishes do sprint across fast moving expressways. They cross the road even where the zebra crossing is only a few meters away. Another menace that alert motorists are wary of.

Broken Down Vehicles
Not only yours, other vehicle do break down on the road, sometimes on ungodly hours.
A broken down fuel tanker or container truck can paralyse traffic for hours. At night, it is doubly dangerous.

One man's food is another man's poison. Some road users prefer encounters with the police- they can argue, bargain or simply pay. Others will dare any rough riding commercial motorcycle to cross their path, since they (the motorcycles) are not supposed to be on the particular stretch of road in the first place.

The ŠKODA FABIA is embarking on the next chapter of its success story with wide-ranging enhancements in terms of both design and technology.

ENGINES
The line-up of engines for the ŠKODA FABIA will consist of four petrol drivetrains, each with three cylinders and a capacity of 1.0 litre. The MPI engines feature indirect injection and produce outputs of 60 hp and 75 hp respectively.

The two TSI drivetrains are both includes turbocharging and direct petrol injection, enabling them to generate 95 hp and 110 hp. The most powerful of the quartet of engines can be matched with a seven-speed DSG gearbox as an option.

The all-new Mercedes Sprinter 2018 van range has been revealed. it comes in a multitude of forms including Panel van, Tourer, pickup, chassis, bus or traction head as body types.


In addition to these options will be a number of driver configurations, cab designs, body lengths, tonnages, load compartment heights and equipment features.

According to Mercedes more than 1,700 different versions can be configured as a result.

It can now be specified in a new front-wheel drive system in addition to the rear-wheel/all-wheel driver formats the previous generation models were.

As a front-wheel driver variant the payload of this version increases by 50 kilograms compared to the rear-wheel variant.

Engines are offered with power outputs ranging from 113bhp to 188bhp.

Inside the car updates include ergonomically shaped seats, keyless start and an improved air conditioning system.

In addition to this the new, networked services of Mercedes PRO connect combined with the likewise completely new MBUX multimedia systems (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) offering a modern and connected cabin.


A WiFi hotspot and touchscreen infotainment system have also been added.

Mercedes-Benz Vans also raises the Sprinter segment to a new level where safety features are concerned.

The assistance systems available for the new Sprinter include e.g. a self-cleaning reversing camera showing its image in the rear-view mirror, a modern Parking package with a 360-degree view, and a rain sensor with an integrated Wet Wiper system for optimum visibility even during the wiping process.

In 2019 an e-Spritner electric van will join the Sprinter range.

Mercedes claim that the battery will be able to recharge to 100 per cent in between 30-60 minutes.

2. Also, note the date, time and location of the assault, infringement on your right, harassment, etc. by the LASTMA official.


3. Write a detailed report that captures how the act was committed.


4. Get a witness/witnesses to the offence that you are reporting.


5. Get the witness to write a report too.


6. Attached as much information and evidences (e.g. videos, audios recordings, pictures, documents, witnesses, etc.) to support your
complaints.

Without a doubt – the Volkswagen Jetta is one of the world’s most successful vehicles.

First released in 1979, the VW Jetta has sold more than 17 million units worldwide.

However, the newly released 2019 Jetta offers bolder design, more interior space than the outgoing design and new technologies.

It also comes with a combination of great technology, fuel efficiency, sporty styling, upscale interior and styling, and fun to drive amenities,

The Jetta is based on Volkswagen’s Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) architecture. Compared with the current car, the new Jetta grows outside in every direction. It offers a longer wheelbase—105.7 inches compared to 104.4 inches—with shorter overhangs, and is longer, wider and taller than the outgoing model. The increased exterior proportions add up to more interior space than the previous car as well.

The new Jetta will continue to be powered by Volkswagen’s 1.4-liter turbocharged and direct-injection TSI engine, making 147 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The power is taken to the front wheels via a new standard six-speed manual transmission, with an eight-speed automatic transmission optional on the base model and standard on higher trims. Automatic transmission models come standard with a Start/Stop system designed to improve fuel efficiency. This technology stops the engine during idle when the brake pedal is held (such as when waiting at a stop light). When the brake pedal is released, the engine restarts.

Outside, the all-new Jetta marks an evolution in Volkswagen’s clean and timeless design DNA, with modern lines and a refined appearance. The combination of large front grille and sharper lines exudes a bold character, while the addition of more chrome and standard LED lighting lend a premium feel. A fast-sloping roof line creates a sportier, coupe-like profile without compromising the usability of the rear seat.

Mitsubishi has just issued 3 sets of recalls affecting a total of 368,000 vehicles as follows:

1. Just a few days ago, Mitsubishi issued a recall of 140,000 of its vehicles due to the automatic tensioner flange on the drive belt, which may crack and make the vehicle shutdown. The following models were affected in that recall: 2009-2012 Lancer, 2010-2012 Lancer Sportback, 2008-2012 Outlander, and 2011-12 Outlander Sport models.

2. The recall didn't end with the first one as they have just issued another one which affects 171,000 units of Mitsubishi vehicles. It affects some 2014-2016 Outlander and 2013-2016 Outlander Sport SUVs. The problem is the actuator shaft for the parking brake, which could corrode and seize due to water that may leak from the rear brake calipers. This problem could also make the affected vehicles roll away when parked.

3. Thirdly, 56,641 vehicles are being recalled due to the sunroof glass that may fall off on motion constituting a major hazard. The affected models are 2007-2010 Outlander, 2008-2010 Lancer, 2009-2010 Lancer Evolution, and 2010 Lancer Sportback models.

The auto manufacturer has called on the users of the affected vehicles to come have the affected components replaced. We hope the Mitsubishi dealerships in Nigeria will do something about this so we don't have cars rolling away and sunroofs flying off on Nigerian roads.

Expired tyres?

Yes. Indeed – car tyres do expire.

Tyres are made of rubber and rubber degrades with age and temperature whether used or not.

Apparently, only a handful of Nigerians were aware of the fact that vehicle tyres come with expiry dates.

And according to Federal Road Safety Corps [FRSC}, expired tyres account for a large number of road accidents nationwide.

So, how can one tell if one’s tyres have attained their expiry dates?

First, vehicle tyres have a 4-year validity period from their Date of Manufacture (DOM) (though some Safety groups in some countries recommends 6 years). However, considering our peculiar rough driving terrains, and our temperate climate, it makes a whole lot of sense to agree with the FRSC recommended 4 years.

After the period of validity, the tyres risk getting burst while in use, especially when running in hot weather.

So, to find out if your tyres are expired – first, look on the sidewall, or the surface of the tyre, you would find a stamp that looks thus: (*3006*).

There is an asterisk at the beginning and at the end of this number (although some tyres don’t have asterisks).

The last four numbers identify the date of manufacture of the tyre to the nearest week. That is, the first two digits represent the week of manufacture, while the last two digits represents the year of manufacture.

So, in this case (* 3006*), the tyre was manufactured on the 30th week in 2006.

Thus, the expiry date would be the 30th week of 2010 ( that is, 4 years from date of manufacture)

So with this knowledge, and for safety purpose, it is important for us to regularly check on our vehicle tyres.

Like the saying goes – its better safe than sorry.

I am sure you know what it feels like when cheated by a cabman, conductor or bike man. But I bet you've never seen anything like what Uber did to this Canadian. 

On 8th of December, the man took an Uber cab on short ride in Toronto which shouldn't cost him more than N4,400 (15 Canadian Dollars) but to his utmost surprise, he was charged N5,110,000 (18,518.50 Canadian Dollars). 

To add insult to injury, Uber was said to have claimed that the bill was accurate but they eventually backed down and admitted their error and refunded the rider after much pressure.  

“There was an error and we have provided a full refund. We sincerely apologize to this rider for his experience" Uber said.

Plans to increase production at Tesla's Gigafactory is directly causing shortage of cylindrical batteries worldwide. 

According to ET news, Tesla is receiving the majority of Panasonic's Japanese battery supplies to meet demand for Tesla Model 3. The adverse effect of this could be monopolisation of the market as other clients have to depend on Samsung, LG, Murata and other brands who are unable to keep up with the demand.

Due to this shortage, companies which already have their orders taken, might have to wait till 2018 to receive supplies. 

Purchasing cylindrical batteries from Panasonic within Japan is impossible for now as a representative said they won't be selling cylindrical batteries anymore. This shortage is also trickling down to China.
